  • In this video I discuss a lettering project, beginning an intarsia project, and some feedback on Dremel accessories for sanding/shaping the projects. I also show some recent acquisitions. I am trying a little different format for the video this time so please give feedback if you have any. You can also send me feedback and see my projects on Instagram @vansiceworks

I love seeing your pattern laid out with the grain lines indicated! It’s a great illustration of how similar woodworking is to sewing, which I’m often thinking about since I have a job in costume making (well, at least i do when there’s not a pandemic happening) that involves constantly checking that pattern pieces are laid out properly on grain. I think one of the things that’s so satisfying about both sewing and woodworking is the way that we have to respect the idiosyncratic physical properties of our materials.

I have often heard sewing and scrolling compared. I think there is a lot of legitimacy to that. I know someone who uses quilting like painting and creates some fantastic art.
Both sewing and scrolling have so many possibilities. From simple to intricate, there's so much you can do.
      Thanks for watching!

Very good job and well explained. Why don't you make a video explaining how the pieces are sanded to give them a rounded shape? a greeting.
