Looks like the grey Atto3 is the lower-range Dynamic model with a 50kWh battery, while your test unit is the Premium variant with 60kWh. That could explain a large part of the disparity in the remaining battery % at your pit stop.

I think you should’ve charged upto 80% only to take good advantage of a fast charger, and it will be cheaper and economical, it will charge slower if upto 100%.What I observed in the video, is how often you have to charge, and that means more travel cost.
Nice to know that Philippines is starting to adopt electric cars, with the price of petrol this days that's good news. I experience long trip with our Tesla Model 3 from Ontario to Quebec last week here in Canada. We had to stop 3 times to top-up, good enough to have a bathroom, get some food and walk our pug. No range anxiety since the charging network is efficient.
Thanks for sharing your content and this should be an awesome way of using a full EV on a typical road trip. In my opinion did I sense some range anxiety when you couldn't top-up at Rosario? 😅 If you did, I did too. 😂 It would be awesome if you will also use telemetry data (top speed, average speed, distance, total elevation gain) for both the EV and your backup car. I also suggest if you guys can also do a full EV road trip to Baguio. This way, we can also see EVs performance when climbing 1500 meters above sea level. Another thing, is your office at Geely Makati? Thanks again.
You really didn’t test its range. At 47% charge left, you should’ve continued without recharging to find out how far the battery can take it. By my calculation, it consumes more in the highway and won’t be able to take you back and forth without recharging negating its 465km advertised range. Also, it showed that when traveling far, recharging costs more. Does fast charging cost ₱35 per kw in NCR?
I don't think testing the range was the point of the video. It was trying to demonstrate a real life scenario of traveling on a EV with that kind of range, charging included
Practical only for city driving where you can go the enitre day without needing to charge and go charge at home overnight. Infra for evs still needs to be developed and chargers must be improved exponentially. 50mins is really bad. But as I said inside the city I think they'd do quite well.
Dolphin can do this too. A bit similar in range with the gray Atto 3 that they saw in the charging station. Also I already saw a Dolphin back in Baguio.
This was a fun little experiment. Although EVs can be cheaper than ICE vehicles when it comes to consumption costs, there is the often-overlooked factor of time. Sure, you can get marginally cheaper rates charging compared to fueling up, but the time it takes to top up a fuel tank is significantly faster than that of an EV battery. And to Caco's point, although you can charge at much slower rates to drive down the costs, know that this will result in even longer charging times so take all these things into consideration when planning road trips with EVs.
please when you do your next review, please list down the actual cost for each vehicle type. when vehicle gets back to home base just full tank or full charge all vehicles. Let's see which among the two (or three) is really more efficient.
Great video as always. I am confused on the math. If the BYD system is saying you have 47% battery left, that would be 28.2 kwh in the battery out of 60 kwh. But you used 41kWh, which leaves 19kWh, or 32% of the capacity. It could be the computer is giving an estimate based on driving history and conditions, or it could be the 47% figure spoken of was earlier in the video and by the time you were at Shell, it was actually less. Can you update on what the BYD computer said was the battery percentage left? Also, did it match the distance driven and the 41kWh you used? My guess is that is why the other owner was interested in your range.
The difference in consumption between the silver atto3 and the test unit was due to driving style of the owner. Remember caco and team elft at 7am while the silver atto3 left at 9am. That's a two hour difference and they're at the shell recharging station at the same time. That means the owner of the silver one was heavy on the throttle.
just got our solar panels installed and i'm really looking into getting the Atto 3 for our daily drive (getting the kids to and from school and bringing the wife to work and back). we spend roughly around 16k on diesel for this. i think i have enough capacity in our solar to practically get the charging close to free. i don't plan to bring it on long drives and that's what our ICE car is for. but thinking about this, it really does make sense to get an EV.
The actual range will vary more when you use safety features, the radio, the lights, the ac and of course if you have a lead foot. The charging speed also depends on how fast your "battery" can charge itself, in addition to the speed of the charger itself.
This is ok if we have a lot of chargers. Your trip is only limited to areas where chargers are available. Of course once u reach your destination , you still need ur car to go around the area and there you will have range anxiety. Of course charging in fast chargers are more expensive than ice vehicle. If you want to save i would suggest buy a hybrid or plug in hybrid.
Exactly. And what happens when more people need to charge up. How much more time you’ll lose. Yeah we might have more chargers in the future. “In the future”. We are not there yet though. So no, not yet willing to waste money til the charging network is sufficient enough to take me to real remote areas, where accommodations dont have available charging stations. That and we know that BYD build is… plus its China so no 😅
The 2 pesos per kilometer price is based on charging stations at the mall. It should be calculated based on the location of the charger. Same as you calculated the gas based on the current price per location. 🙄
Im not sure if having an EV in the Philippines is a good idea. They always have black outs....and why would Pinoys buy Chinese made cars when they are harassing you guys and taking some of your resources?
My concern with EV and it is not being mentioned about the estimated range is in that estimate it's at what speed for you to meet or be close to the estimated range.
The calculations maybe inaccurate due to the fact that if you use a slower charger it would also take longer time for it to charge. Which means the slower charger in which according to sir Caco around 12 pesos will charger the vehicle longer than the fast charger. So, on a fast charger that costs php 35 pesos would charge 1 kwh in 5 mins for example the slower charger would do it 25mins for example so the cost goes up as well. The cost per KWH is actually really per kwh added to the battery but esssentially the time it takes to fill that 1 kwh. So a good solution is to install solar panels for your chargers with batteries to store the energy it gathered. But ofcors this means you will have to spend more at first.
See, this is the issue I have with EVs: Let's say a typical trip to La Union takes 4.5 hours. In the event that you need to juice up during your trip, that adds another good 60 minutes to your trip to add a fraction of percentage (via fast charging), that is if you get a charging slot immediately. What if there are more people lined up before you? Versus typical few minutes using ICE / Hybrid. Then once you get to your accommodation, another challenge is finding a charging port in the parking slot in a hotel, resort, or airbnb. And if you do find one, it wont be fast charging. So you need the entire night to charge up the car, again, if you find a charging slot in the parking. And if you do, will they even allow you. Such a hassle. Still, I'm positive about EVs even though we know theyre not environmentally friendly.
Also, I would like to add that some EV Charging station/network like Shell Recharge (as of May 2024) forbids the use of adapters nor doesn’t offer other EV charging interfaces like NACS/Tesla, GB/T (where grey market EVs use), and J1772.
This is a great Vlog. I found it really interesting and gave me an idea. Since, in a way.. a 1.5L SUV is kinda compared with than EV SUV and the cost per kilometer is way apart.. (EV 1Km+2.00php ++, ICE 1Km= 5.00php), proved the cost savings of an EV is way better than an ICE. But how about an EV vs a hybrid (Toyota’s hybrid tech and Nissans e power). Would it be possible to have a cost per kilometer comparo for these. And during this comparo, allow the EV to mostly be charged at a charging station and not at a home so as we can know the max costing. This can greatly help people decide either an EV or hybrid and give a chance for people who live in condos to have a better perspective if they can shift to an EV because they can have a ball park figure of the cost in charging. What do say Caco and Autodeal peeps? Would it be possible? Just a thought 😂
Turning off the infotainment system does not affect the car's power consumption. Similar to a car with a combustion engine, an EV also has a battery for electronics under the hood.
Mga dating 300km range na EVs, a few short years after nasa 400 to 500km range na. Very sparse charging stations, now dumadami na. Hopefully magkaraoon naman ng improvements sa electricity grid. I saw Meralco is looking into micro-nuclear power plants was it? And there was some news as well on solar farms. Things are looking up for EVs.
Battery depletion will be fastest in the first 2 years. About 5 % for LFP batteries. After that, the battery will stsbilize. It is even recommended to top up LFP batteries once every 2 weeks and during long road trips to calibrate the battery.
with EV's how much do you think it would cost say after 5 years if i would like to sell it and upgrade to a new one. Would it depreciate that much considering the age of batteries.
14:25 still not practical because you have to charge the battery for 50+ minutes versus 3-5min gas fill up. It cost me time. And thats where the impracticality occurs.
Same here. They just wasted 50 plus minutes only for charging and its expensive to charge 35 per kwh and his telling us that if you charge it in the house its 2 pesos per kwh. Like what kind of explanation is that? For sure they’re paid to promote this video.
@@natzcam2219 nonetheless, the problem still occurs. Wasted time. Which majority ng mga tao ayaw sa ganun. Imbes nasa dagat ka na or nakapag checkin na kayo, since nagchacharge ka pa ng EV for 50 mins, lost time mo na yun.
@@infelnetus Ill have to agree with that, but if you have a charger at home and you charge overnight, and your not planning on a 1000km trip then an EV is a win
That's great, granted it doesn't spontaneously blow up under you. Isn't that what that brand is known for? How about degradation of the battery? How long until it degrades and loses charge capacity? Why does it regenerate when braking? What about using the turning wheels to bring back some juice while the car is going?
You saved roughly P2.50/km but how long did you stay at that gas station to fully charge that car? Filling up an ICE vehicle will take you less than 10min. Savings on money or savings on time?
if the guy who owns the atto 3 has only 25 percent after arriving rosario ev charging station. would he still arrive if he only got the 400km variant of the atto 3? man, that's a real question right there.. I hope they install more EV chargers for the consumers. if you can go from the top to bottom of luzon then that would be the day when I'll consider buying one.
Can you have a review for this car for maintenance expenses. Also, the cost of the new battery when you need to change and how long the battery life and what is the effect on the battery if the car not usually used.
Was really wanting to ride into that EV cars trend but for an average employee who doesnt have enough free time to stay at a recharging station (for slow chargers) I dont think this would really be a good main car :(
It depends on where and how you charge. The blade battery will not degrade suddenly as it only charges 80 kWh. Also, it is recommended for LFP batteries to charge 80-90% regularly and 100% every 2 weeks in order to calibrate the battery.
So in order to drive down the cost you have to take a slower charger which in turn increases your time to wait. So what if, may nakapila before you or 1 of the charger isn't working? Edi mas mag-aantay ka ng matagal? The money you save on cost still sisingilin ka pa din in a form of time. No thanks.
Question ❓ Is it stll excepted from coding? O and by the way how about the maintenance? Is it cheaper or expensive? Like if your batteries are really down how can you fix.Or have someone fix fix it for you Same price lang ba sila.Or mas expensive? Ang mag paayos ng regular engine.Neither gas or diesel engins Compared sa ev engine?
All full hybrids and BEVs are coding-exempted until 2030 in the PH. For maintenance, it is cheaper to maintain a BEV annually as you have fewer mechanical parts (no oil changes needed, etc.). However, when your BEV battery needs replacement, that will be costlier. For hybrids, it is more expensive in the long run as you technically need to maintain a gas engine and an electric motor with their batteries (well, depends on the brand and model). The environmental benefits of BEVs still cannot be ignored, especially if your city or town has clean energy sources.

Cool video as usual, autodeal 😂
Like all you posted, only thing holding me back from an ev is the lack of stations in Ilocos norte
Looking forward seeing this car to travel from manila to baguio and vice versa
Is that a free charging @ awesome hotel??
Mga dating 300km range na EVs, a few short years after nasa 400 to 500km range na.
Very sparse charging stations, now dumadami na.
Hopefully magkaraoon naman ng improvements sa electricity grid. I saw Meralco is looking into micro-nuclear power plants was it? And there was some news as well on solar farms.
Things are looking up for EVs.
Caco, can you try a roadtrip going to the new highest highway system using EV?
Everyone should know that the car is Brand New. I wonder if after a year, DAILY driven, will it still perform the same?
Battery depletion will be fastest in the first 2 years. About 5 % for LFP batteries. After that, the battery will stsbilize. It is even recommended to top up LFP batteries once every 2 weeks and during long road trips to calibrate the battery.
with EV's how much do you think it would cost say after 5 years if i would like to sell it and upgrade to a new one. Would it depreciate that much considering the age of batteries.
@cacotirona do a trip to Sorsogon or Legazpi City Albay instead.
Hi, how much does Awesome hotel charge for the charging of the vehicle?😊
I'm wondering how much battery replacement cost and how long the battery last before it should be replace?
At least 10yrs before it deteriorates but still usable
14:25 still not practical because you have to charge the battery for 50+ minutes versus 3-5min gas fill up. It cost me time. And thats where the impracticality occurs.
Same here. They just wasted 50 plus minutes only for charging and its expensive to charge 35 per kwh and his telling us that if you charge it in the house its 2 pesos per kwh. Like what kind of explanation is that? For sure they’re paid to promote this video.
@quatro2732 He said P2 per KM. If meralco costs P14 per kwh, and the car can do 7km per kwh so 2 pesos per km
Yes. Actually if its a drive within the metro its definitely not a problem.
This will be my 2nd car 🙏👌
Sabi na eh. Hahahahha! 😂
That's great, granted it doesn't spontaneously blow up under you. Isn't that what that brand is known for? How about degradation of the battery? How long until it degrades and loses charge capacity? Why does it regenerate when braking? What about using the turning wheels to bring back some juice while the car is going?
That 'other' byd user definite was in a spirited driving or simply a heavy metal on the accelerator (potentiometer?).
What's your brand of shade Sir Caco?
When is the Seagull coming? If they price it below 1M it will be the best seller
What i dont like about current ev situation is what if you arrive at charging station and someone is currently charging. I hate the waiting game.
You saved roughly P2.50/km but how long did you stay at that gas station to fully charge that car? Filling up an ICE vehicle will take you less than 10min. Savings on money or savings on time?
you can buy a home charger and there portable ones as well.
That brownout at Rosario Shell station gave me one hell of anxiety for you guys. LOL
Akala ko solar powered ung station nila?
pag inabutan ng brownout, stranded na sa north
@@conyingBaon ka na lang portable gas generator as a backup 😂
if the guy who owns the atto 3 has only 25 percent after arriving rosario ev charging station. would he still arrive if he only got the 400km variant of the atto 3? man, that's a real question right there.. I hope they install more EV chargers for the consumers. if you can go from the top to bottom of luzon then that would be the day when I'll consider buying one.
awesome video as always
Was the charging at Awesome hotel free?
love this better than, watching western review.. may kasama pang comedy
Love this video! Next time, for the comparo. try diesel, gas, hybrid, and ev try the route to Bicol. Maybe do something like a race.
range anxiety is real
I miss this kind of content 🤣
Looking forward to Pagudpud trip with an EV 👌
No problem if u know that u will drive in areas with Charging station but 🤔
Hope mindanao will adopt also.
hi what Hotel in La Union did you guys stay...
The dog with killer kilays....
Can you have a review for this car for maintenance expenses. Also, the cost of the new battery when you need to change and how long the battery life and what is the effect on the battery if the car not usually used.
Great video! wishing to have an EV car soon.
It's 278 km from Makati to La Union.
What happened?
About half the price/km at 4x the time spent at the station. I'll stick to ICE for out of town trips and EV inside the city.
Was really wanting to ride into that EV cars trend but for an average employee who doesnt have enough free time to stay at a recharging station (for slow chargers) I dont think this would really be a good main car :(
dat dog with kilay tho 17:02 🔥
I wonder how the batteries hold after 5 yrs. Will they degrade fast just like phones? How much it cost to replace the batteries after it depleted.
It depends on where and how you charge. The blade battery will not degrade suddenly as it only charges 80 kWh. Also, it is recommended for LFP batteries to charge 80-90% regularly and 100% every 2 weeks in order to calibrate the battery.
20:48 nice
nice
nice
So in order to drive down the cost you have to take a slower charger which in turn increases your time to wait. So what if, may nakapila before you or 1 of the charger isn't working? Edi mas mag-aantay ka ng matagal?
The money you save on cost still sisingilin ka pa din in a form of time. No thanks.
As of now, EVS are best for city driving. But there will be a time that superchargers will be a dime in a dozen.
What a test, so nice and practically is so true
Earl hahaha 😅😊
NXT time ikaw naman ang mag Drive😎🤍
Battery warranty is 8 years. After that, you can purchase a replacement battery for Atto 3 for 800,000 pesos.
HHAHAAHAH ang cute ng review. (Tsaka si Earl)
Road trips are much better ina Tesla. It is more efficient in the highway than city driving.... When will you enter the Philippine market?
Question ❓
Is it stll excepted from coding? O and by the way how about the maintenance?
Is it cheaper or expensive? Like if your batteries are really down how can you fix.Or have someone fix fix it for you
Same price lang ba sila.Or mas expensive?
Ang mag paayos ng regular engine.Neither gas or diesel engins
Compared sa ev engine?
All full hybrids and BEVs are coding-exempted until 2030 in the PH. For maintenance, it is cheaper to maintain a BEV annually as you have fewer mechanical parts (no oil changes needed, etc.). However, when your BEV battery needs replacement, that will be costlier. For hybrids, it is more expensive in the long run as you technically need to maintain a gas engine and an electric motor with their batteries (well, depends on the brand and model). The environmental benefits of BEVs still cannot be ignored, especially if your city or town has clean energy sources.
@@StarsStripes-vh7kw So? If ever I have an ev car,.If ever I get caught by a police or a traffic enforcer I'm just going to say it's an,,..E then they will let me go? Am I right?
Because that's what he did,.In their previous video
So pretty sure,.If I also did that! That I'm going to use my ev on a coding day
And if I say the words ev,.So pretty sure they'll also let me go
With no questions asked too 😉
@@StarsStripes-vh7kw Plus the fact,.That I'm also promoting to have a clean air that we can all enjoy

What I would have done drive straight to the hotel and charge there. Level 2 charging better for the battery
Get well soon jack
AWESOME REVIEW!
What was your maximum speed?
