Finally! I've been waiting for this review from AutoDeal! Although I already have my SL6, I got my unit on October 2 and have already driven it for over 1,000 km, with a remaining gas range of 640 km. I should mention that I've been able to recharge fully around five times. Basically, as long as you have access to a charger or charging station, one full tank can easily exceed the 1,000 km range.
If you doubt BYD's reliability we've been using their cars here in Hongkong International Airport 24/7 moving people, moving materials, moving tools, etc for a year and half. My company is doing Aircraft Maintenance we go around the whole airport to check Aircrafts. The only time those cars been able to rest is when we do shift handover.
EVs Exposes the Illusion of Legacy Luxury Cars, Legacy brands Japanese & European, often struggle with electric vehicles (EVs). The challenge isn’t just price, as their cars have always been 50-200% more expensive in some markets. The issue stems from the "exposure effect," where the industry’s mystique fades. Historically, buyers knew to go Japanese for reliability, European for luxury, and American for a unique style, while new players struggled to break in. Korean brands pushed hard but often lacked the margins, cost efficiency, or supply chain to truly compete, as combustion engine technology had plateaued with costly, marginal gains. European brands built their premium image on craftsmanship, performance, and safety. But as Chinese brands entered the EV space, they bypassed this old game and introduced EVs that offer 90% of what Legacy brands provide but at a lower price. Legacy brands feel exposed as the advantages they built over decades-like balance and weight distribution-lose relevance in EVs. Even newer players like BYD, and now Xiaomi, offer EVs with natural balance and sports car-like handling, disrupting the market that Tesla first shook. The game has shifted, and legacy brands must adapt or risk fading out.
Chinese EVs make the industry more competitive, it's a win-win situation for all buyers. I wonder how much more these japanese/europian and even korean EVs cost if chinese brands don't drop these bombs.
the market won't adapt they just slap tariff on chinese ev making them appear expensive, the tariff cause the car price increase exponentially like 2-3 times price in China
@@busetgadapet China has leveraged their economic influence in other industries for some countries, where countries earn more in China vs locally, just like how Australia gave in to China’s demands to zero its tarrifs on its EV’s, the whole of Europe is also feeling the pressure, in fact the Chinese government has ordered its automakers, including companies like BYD, Dongfeng, MG, and Geely, to halt all plans for European factories, expansions, and even retail locations. This directive is part of China’s ongoing negotiations with Europe, where China is warning of a significant reduction in industrial development and manufacturing it had previously intended to bring to Europe-efforts that would have bolstered Europe's GDP. Europe profits substantially more from vehicle sales in China-by a 10-to-1 margin.
Here in Mexico BYD is growing very rapidly, 3 months ago, I took ownership of the SONG plus SUV, and I am impressed with the quality of the vehicle and it'sincredible efficiency( Former Audi,Mercedes and BMW owner)
I got mine a few hours ago. There were several buyers also taking delivery of their units. I ignored comments about quality against Japanese brands. The reason for that is my CRV’s compressor conked out on me on the 37th month, or one month after the 3 year warrant expired. My Altis’ compressor also had to be replaced on the 6th year. My Altis weatherstrip also had to be replaced after 7 years. By the way, I made reservation on Sept 22 and got the unit today Oct 31.
Japanese quality isn't what it used to be ever since they started outsourcing everywhere in the world, also Chinese Car quality is good! I bought my Chery Arrizo 7, 10 years ago! And I use it to this day! It has had zero issues! I'm now considering going for the BYD Sea Lion 6
It is my opinion that purchasing this vehicle would be a worthwhile investment. I sincerely hope that BYD will introduce a 7-seater model in the near future, as my family is growing. However, if I had the financial means at this moment, this would undoubtedly be my choice for a second car.
Damn, I've always blasted brands for taking out physical air controls, especially since you'd have to take your eyes off the road. But that triple finger touchscreen commands is such a smart feature to add to the touch screen, meaning you can achieve your increase and decrease in both temperature and fan speed without looking. Of course I still prefer a knob in the end of the day, but very big props to BYD for actually coming out with viable solutions to that change.
So jealous, at that price here in Indonesia, i can't even get the Atto 3. Our government kinda 'hate' hybrid so i won't be surprised if this car could reach 2.3M pesos here.
After visiting Asia this summer, I was impressed about the Chinese EV and my western brain didn’t want to approve that concept. The locals would buy whatever the car based of the value. Now I am looking into buying mom an EV for her daily routine.
214hp and 325nm available "immediately" so that speaks bakit ang bibilis ng arangkada ng sl6 na nakakasabay ko sa slex 😅. Like literally, when you observe it they like glide thru the asphalt.
Thank you so much for your car reviews specially ev's and phev's. It would be nicer if you kindly include maintenance factors specifically the electrics.
The good thing with this is if you're only driving mostly around the city you might never have to go to a gas station. The downside is you will always have a reason to go for a long drive in order to use the engine and gas 😊.
The *PARTY TRICK* is a must when parking the BYD, as the portrait view gives you 3 viewing screens instead of 2, and the many views are selectable. So it's actually safer in most instances to just look at the 3 screen views simultaneously to park, than contantly crane your head around to check for cars, obstacles, etc.. Whenever I go into an undercaver parking station the first thing I do is go into PORTRAIT mode. (I cannot do this earlier as the screen glass is polarised like my polaroid sunglasses, so I get a black screen if I do this in normal daytime driving.)
I don’t own a chinese vehicle just yet, it is definitely under my list but I’m actually waiting for the chinese brand haters to come-up with another lame issue after them hearing that Toyota uses the same battery as this one. 😂 interior and material quality is also top notch! Don’t start me with the crash test rating as this one got a 5 star. Incredibly a good option!
Yes, Toyota has adopted BYD's tech, which will feature in future products. BYD is now leader in battery tech, Compared to Tesla, BYD (Blade Tech, Which is Excellent) offers more longevity with its battery. Unlike other batteries that shouldn’t be charged above 80%, the BYD battery can be charged to full capacity at all times. There’s also the safety aspect, which is a huge selling point for BYD. If you puncture the battery with a nail or run over it with a 40-ton truck, there’s no flames, no smoke, and the temperature only rises to 60 degrees Celsius. In contrast, with other EVs, as soon as you puncture the battery with a nail, the temperature shoots up to 600 degrees and the battery goes up in flames. Yes, it’s very safe-the safest battery on the market.

What do you mean by combined power of the ice + electric motor = 214hp but I noticed the torque stays the same at 325nm? Isn't it that this isn't a true hybrid. It's just like a kicks. Where the ICE is just merely there for charging the battery but it doesn't send power to the wheels. The electric motor is the only one connected to the wheels via an e-cvt. One characteristic of this setup is that if the battery goes bad the car won't run. However a real hybrid can still run on ice alone. One good example of a true hybrid is the Jolion HEV which is roughly the same price as this sealion. Its ICE produces 94HP 125nm torque but when combined with the electric motor it now produces 186HP and 375nm. It's clearly telling you both ice and e motor are powering the wheels when in parallel mode

i dont have car yet, but i am planning to get 1. will this car last long if i use it off road? in my place there’s 400 meters off road way before i can reach the highway. So if i will use it daily i have to drive 800 meters daily on a mild rough terrain.
Japanese manufacturers nowadays are unlike what they are before. Since they have increased outsourcing parts(mainly from china) no wonder why chinese companies have released very aggressive and competitively priced products. But the only thing that would leave people from considering chinese cars would be towards brand comfort and post purchase support. If you were to pick from a vios to an mg5, yes the mg 5 might be more valuable but would still be a pain in the ass to maintain due to lack of spare parts IMO.
Agreed, Some Legacy (Japanese) automakers are trying to attract the local market with new models, but there's a significant delay in getting these vehicles into showrooms. The main reason is that Japanese automakers face challenges due to their reliance on China for raw materials. China dominates the supply chain for car manufacturing, and Japanese companies depend heavily on Chinese suppliers. Additionally, companies like Nippon Steel struggle because they lack access to essential raw materials, such as iron, unlike their Chinese counterparts. This situation gives Chinese manufacturers the flexibility to adjust prices since they control their supply chain without middlemen. Chinese automakers, like BYD, are also vertically integrated, which enhances their competitiveness. Their blade battery technology is impressive; even Toyota has adopted BYD's tech, which will feature in future products. As a result, Chinese automakers are gradually taking over markets that Japanese brands used to dominate a decade ago. Overall, these delays reflect the broader challenges faced by Japanese automakers in a changing market landscape.
I'm getting 16kmpl with CRV gas. For 80kms, that is 5 liters @65php/liter = 325php. Charging this with a consumption of say 20kWhr @ 13php per kwh = 260php. Do I get the mathematics right?
Ethanol-gasoline blends have a shorter shelf life of two to three months. Fuel stabilized gasoline can last between one and three years under optimal conditions. Gas stored in a car tank begins to degrade in just about a month.
And since you still have the ICE, you need to carry out PMS similar to conventional ICE cars. There are also studies that vehicles with batteries are not that GREEN after all.
Correction lang po, 18.3kw ang battery capacity pero ang charger is 7kw and the charging time is 3hrs. So ang consumption is 21kwh. That is 273.00 excluding pa dyan yun ibang charges like transmission , distribution and govt tax. Let say 280.00 ang cost per charging. But we need to compare it also sa ibang hybrid like CX or Emkoo. Both of them can easily reach 20-24kpl on city driving kasi parallel HEV ang implementation ng hybrid nila. Let say sa 100km it can consume 20kpl so 5 liters x 56 (Petron 95 octane) that is 280.00 also. But try to remember that PHEV have bigger battery than HEV so the cost of ownership is higher due to the battery cost. My advice to potential customers is try to do test drives and research other hybrid as well such as FSK E5, BAIC E30 DUNE and GAC Emkoo before deciding. These are good alternative cars as well.
Many Filipinos are often fascinated by vehicles produced by Chinese car manufacturers, and we tend to purchase them even when they come with a high price tag. However, before buying cars from China, it is important to check their original prices in their country of origin. If these cars are sold at a low price in China but are priced much higher in the Philippines, we should think twice before making a purchase. We often assume that the durability and quality of a car are directly related to its price. However, it's crucial to remember that if a car's original price in China is low, it may indicate that the vehicle is not built to last, even if it carries a high price here. Ultimately, buyers risk losing out in two ways: first, by overpaying, and second, by ending up with a vehicle that lacks durability.
That reasoning is just plain stupid. First, China subsidized locally sold cars made by Chinese companies. Second , haven’t you heard of shipping cost, tarrifs, taxes and permit and many more that is added overhead once you import it here? For example, Toyota Corolla in china only cost half of what it is priced here in the Philippines. So clearly your reasoning is not applicable.
From what I know, this is a series hybrid right? Not parallel, which is what most pinoys know and understand. I do think series hybrids are better than parallel ones.
I'm curious now about how soundproof the karaoke is to the outside. LOL. Wouldn't wanna have people hear some out of tune voice while doing karaoke as I wait inside the car or something. Haha
@@romelguevarra9710Yes you're correct since it has a smaller battery than a pure EV, it's going to be cheaper. So my question now is, how much will it going to be? Since i'm saving up for our 2nd hybrid car.
If your current ICE car fuel cost is about php700 / 100km or per week it can cost around 36,500 / year. If using a hybrid/ev can make it half less then you can save php146,000 within 8 years + your extra savings. So yeah, having a car insurance is a big+. The reality is, the only main purpose of buying a hybrid/EV is to save the earth from pollution rather than saving huge amount of money IMO

It's technically true but there's a caveat on it. The BYD's sold in China are the ones without the, shall we say, rigorous quality control. The ones that we buy here are for export usually to the EU so it's definitely well built barring the normal cost cutting of piano black plastics, lighter plastics for the dashboard, etc. so the adage still stands but it only applies to those actually sold direct in their market since 95% of any videos of BYD's on fire is scrubbed from their social media there to protect the international prestige that they built.

BYD is the leading EV battery maker. This in-house battery is their edge against Tesla
Great review and excrutiating imformative entertained show, from Thai viewer.
Karaoke on the car now that`s amazing doing long travel and having your passengers getting fun singing 😁☝ one issue is not having physical buttons
i dont have car yet, but i am planning to get 1. will this car last long if i use it off road? in my place there’s 400 meters off road way before i can reach the highway. So if i will use it daily i have to drive 800 meters daily on a mild rough terrain.
Please review the BYD Shark.
Jack did a Great job
Im already looking into this car as a 2nd next to my toyota pickup.
Love the humour
Caco can you please review the 2025 nissan navara the dashboard got changed…
Idol paki review naman po yung Hyundai Tucson Hybrid pls.
Anyone care to share any experience where you needed to buy spare parts from the casa?
Magkano kaya baterya nyan kapag papalitan na?
Awesome cuv .
I'm getting 16kmpl with CRV gas. For 80kms, that is 5 liters @65php/liter = 325php. Charging this with a consumption of say 20kWhr @ 13php per kwh = 260php. Do I get the mathematics right?
It’s 18.3 Kwh. So roughly 237php
@lloydlausa5314 Roughly youll need more I guess due to losses while charging. Charging from 80% to 100% will usually consume more power. TY.
Man, goodbye Japanese carmakers
Hi caco, can you also review the jetour dashing phev.
considering this as a second car! 🎉
Gradually this will become your first car.
From what I know, this is a series hybrid right? Not parallel, which is what most pinoys know and understand. I do think series hybrids are better than parallel ones.
It is both
mannn why would the editor add a phonk song 😂
BYD Tang review please
I'm curious now about how soundproof the karaoke is to the outside. LOL. Wouldn't wanna have people hear some out of tune voice while doing karaoke as I wait inside the car or something. Haha
Good car. But once the electric battery needs replacement, how much will it cost?
it will cost less than a pure EV, and it's just plug and play blade battery.
Ask that after 8yrs of buying your ev car. Coz by that time, the cost of an ev batt would probably be much lower than now. Saka matagal ang buhay ng lfp batt @@paolosy1293
@@johnyonardpauly5601Not enough reason to own an Ev yet bec 1. I cant afford it 2. Let the technology mature more & let the manufacturers improve their products. 3. Observe what happens to the battery and car after the 8 year warranty.
I saw a video of a Chinese warning everyone not to buy a BYD cars because its parts break easily and rust quickly. I'm not sure if that's true.
Bullshit hahahhahahha
In China, the competitive is so intense, that no wonder they pay money for bad mouthing each other
It's technically true but there's a caveat on it. The BYD's sold in China are the ones without the, shall we say, rigorous quality control. The ones that we buy here are for export usually to the EU so it's definitely well built barring the normal cost cutting of piano black plastics, lighter plastics for the dashboard, etc. so the adage still stands but it only applies to those actually sold direct in their market since 95% of any videos of BYD's on fire is scrubbed from their social media there to protect the international prestige that they built.
they are ICE Cars enthusiats. In short, EV Haters.
as a Chinese, byd sold 400k cars last month in China。more than Toyota and VW。
i'm waiting for the 1,500km 2025 sealion 6.
Is BYD Sealion 6 AWD?
Currently, no, but other countries do have AWD variants available.
My car crush!
Weather the infotainment screen,.Is on vertical nor horizontal! Thankfully the a-c is just below it and that I already love,,..Oh and by the way an overnight bags of the parents as well as an overnight bags for the kids,,.Plus two balik bayan boxes or three balik bayan boxes and one overnight bag
As Caco exampled awhile ago,.Shows that this Sealion-6 as already got you all covered
As for your conviences too,.And with a sun-moonroof! For me it's adds a touch of classiness to it
Special at night,.When you can as well look at the night sky as well as the lamp post while cruising the streets
And for a couple,.It will also give that added romantic touch too 👍😉👍
For a dreamy-date #Experience
And sometimes,.For our odd-even gas ranges (sometimes low sometimes high)
Driving on pure-battery-mode,.Really as it's benefits
So yeah,.If ever I have the buck 💵💰💵
If just might get,.My own someday #MyOwnBydSeaLion6 and plus what also catches my eyes is those front and rear lights
But specially the front,.Where it really looks like a real life sealion with those fangs and whiskers too 👍😉👍
So yeah,.In the future,.I just might get my own of one of this cool cars of byd
Nasasaktan yung Toyotards na ang tanging alam nila is “ReLiAbiLtY” kasi wala naman na rin inoffer si Toyota na advanced tech lol
Their top spec Camry only has 9-in touch screen at 2.4M value hahaha
Imagine this SL6 priced at only 1.5M? plus hybrid!?
Mas lalo na ring Ang mga Sipsipki. 😁
Can't do an impulse buy on this because of the waiting period. 😅😅😅
just a lazy afternoon scrolling youtube and decided " i want to watch caco talk and tell tito jokes " here i am
Do a comparo, sealion vs mg hs ev
Kahit doughnut tire nalang sana para comfortable driving sa provincial areas
Kia carnival hybrid test drive plzzz
Geely has to step up now
Wala ata balak yung new distributor magpasok ng EV eh. Ginawa pa poverty spec yung new Coolray.
@ kahit PHEV lang sana o
Yung geometry alam ko may test unit sila. Pero medyo mahirap umasa bro, still struggling yung new management kahit sa parts ng PMS. Their cars itself is great, the problem is only the casa aftersales. Although may option na sa other suppliers for parts (tanggal nga lang warranty).
That “psssttt” though 😂
DFSK E5 PHEV Review please and comparo
Is it true that there is a delay when using the horns?
Hard to press.
Please review the baic b 30
Is it really true it’s an awd car as some car content creators from Down Under claim?
They have 2 variants in AUS
Easily, that’s what I suspect but I’ve watched 3 different reviews of exactly same variant launched in our shores n made no specific distinctions! Maybe it’s a slip on their part. Appreciate so much 4 your reply!
JCGarage observed meron unuusual squezzing in his Sealion6... which is not normal...
if you make the car infotainment display little smaller within 9" to 10 " inch squire and fixed with dashboard then the car would look more nice and better than other expensive brand
Another incredible video! Seeing all these exotic cars makes it tempting to dream big. But when it comes to buying one, getting a solid financial plan in place first is so important. For anyone seriously considering an exotic car, or any high-end investment, having a reliable financial advisor can make all the difference. I’ve been working with an incredible advisor, Stephanie Janis Stiefel, for years, and she’s been amazing at helping people make smart financial moves. Plus, she’s got a great track record online, so she’s easy to find if you’re interested. Buying a car like this is a big step, so make sure you’ve got someone in your corner
Completely agree with you! Stephanie Janis Stiefel helped me save up and invest smartly before I bought my first Porsche. She’s great at helping you see the bigger picture so you’re not just buying on impulse. It’s a game-changer
This is exactly what I need. I’ve been thinking about getting a McLaren, but I know it’s a huge investment. Does she help with budgeting out all the other costs involved too, like maintenance and insurance?
@@ArataHaru-n1tshe definitely does! I’ve worked with her for about three years, and she’s super thorough. She went through every detail with me when I was buying my Lamborghini, maintenance, insurance, even potential resale value. I wouldn’t have been able to make such a smart choice without her.
@@ArataHaru-n1tI’m in the same boat as you. I’ve always wanted a Ferrari, but I want to make sure it’s the right move financially. I’ll definitely look her up. Thanks for the tip
@@TreviMounirWell her name is 'STEPHANIE JANIS STIEFEL'. Just research the name. You'd find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.
patiently waiting for the shark 6 :)
The problem with new models is the parts availability ,unlike japanese cars its easy to replace damaged parts😮
Cleary you don’t own any vehicles. Try to check owners group of thise jap brands. And they themselves experience long waiting time for non consumable parts when needed to be replaced.
😎😎 Ronaldo - Guarulhos, Sao Paulo, Brasil. 👏👏
Wow, about $25000 USD, you get a nice car
If you buy this car, you should not think about the negative things like low resale value, expensive battery replacement, and other negative reviews. Just buy and enjoy it.
