Anything to do with EV and Chinese cars will get people worked up for some reason. Combine the two together and it can turn the comments section into a shit show. It'll morph from comments about cars into political bullshit.
I hired one for a few days. Fun fact- the strings on the door pocket Adam played with are a fifth and a flat seventh from the fundamental (the tightest one.) Which means at the lights you can play the intro to Talking Heads "Psycho Killer" on them. Glad you read so far now? edit: it seems the BYD is the first ev to need a tune up... No I'm not sorry.
I own one of these, and I can get another one bites the dust going on the driver's side, and because the passenger strings are tuned slightly differently on mine I can get blister in the sun over there. I'd say yes to buying this car
BYD's LFP battery loves 100% charges! In fact BYD recommends a 100% charge at least once every 2 weeks. The comment towards the end about only charging to 80% only applies to NMC batteries.
@@CampbellMorkham yeah. They even accused ATTO3 Canberra owner for not charging to 100% causing the battery to totally fail while driving at 100km/h with 2 kids at the back. Kudos to BYD Chinese lawyers
@@kristoffer3000I think I know what they’re talking about. I’ve seen that story (it was on the ABC or Canberra Times; sorry don’t have the link handy). IIRC it was a bit messy: the conflict boiled down to BYD offering to repair the battery under warranty and the owner demanding a replacement car.
Im a car guy-love BMWs but I also have one of these and agree with all your comments! Its a city car not a tourer but its so easy to drive around town/park and get in/out of. I have home charging and for $4 i get 400kms! had for 2 years-no defects at all! BYD are definately cream of the Chinese crop. Love your work Adam and I hope your making a living now?
Agree entirely. You can get 450km range but it involves fairly heroic hypermiling. A steady 80kmh on dead level smooth roadway will also do the job. 380km with a modest buffer is fairly easily achieved with gentle driving.
Let’s see how they do out of warranty. That is the real test. You commend a company for building a vehicle that doesn’t go wrong after only 730 days. Really set the bar low there
@@Brendo95there are BYD hybrids in China with over 1.5 million KMs on the clock because they're commonly used as taxis. The atto 3 was available in China under a different name way before it was available in Australia. They'll hold up to 500000km easily if the driver isn't reckless.
If you guys were pleasantly surprised with the Atto 3, wait till you get your hands on the BYD Seal. The level of fit, finish and refinement is stepped up.
You are right. I own a BYD SEAL Premium. It's really a wonderful car and it is one of the best, or should I say the best car I have had the pleasure to own and drive. Solid build quality. Better than my old BMW 328i in so many ways. I am actually suprised that even the paintwork and panel alignment of my SEAL is superior.
I own an early 2022 model long range BYD Atto 3. I've done over 45,000 km already and I can suggest that 400km WLTP range is what I get. However if you drive aggressively, with the AC turned up then don't expect 400 range. Also, check your tyre pressures!
Fellas, once again thanks very much for another amazing review! Love your work, and I really appreciate that you’ve covered an EV. I’m an owner of a BYD Dolphin, which has the same chassis, battery, motor and so on. I’ve been a two wheel and four wheel rev head all my life and this car after one year and 40,000 kms, I still love it as much as I did during my honeymoon period. I’m a driving instructor and clock up a 1000 kms a week. I charge at home, don’t miss trying to find time to get to a petrol station and I’m so happy to have to not ruin my Sunday with doing an oil and filter changer every 10 weeks. Keep up the great work, your all top shelf legends!!
Yea we have the Dolphin as well and it’s a cracker car! We like the interior a lot better than the Atto as well as it’s more… sophisticated (boring??). Only thing it’d change is what Adam mentioned which is slightly bouncy suspension. Latest updates have fixed the nervous safety features now, for the most part, so pretty stoked about that. 😊
Home charging is such a game changer! ask me how much range I have on my car...go on. I have no idea. I know it's above 30% and will last me the next couple of days though so I'll just plug in one night when I get home. How's that for range anxiety, and I do about 30,000km per year. Driving an ICE was more worrisome
I can't tell you how often I watch your show and then immediately start looking up prices of the car featured. I'm broke, so I never actually buy them, but it keeps me busy. TY.
Wireless CarPlay was added to all cars in a software update so is not limited to 2024 models. As Atto owners with a great deal on a used 2023 model so far we have had zero problems, not a rattle or squeak to hear. I can confirm the Batman tyres are rubbish in the wet and the range is overstated. New Michelin’s on the way and the range for us is not a problem. The emergency braking is no better or worse than the Subaru Foresters EyeSite system that was our last car. For me one of the best cars and most surprising for quality I have owned. No it won’t suit everyone but if you are considering an EV that’s a small SUV it’s worth a test drive. If you want to stick with ICE that’s fine too. Edit…another correction, BYD use a Blade battery that has different chemistry to other EV batteries. There is no reason you can’t charge it to 100% on a regular basis. In fact in the owners manual BYD advise it should be charged to 100% at least once a week. The Blade battery should be good for 5000 full cycles according to all the tests so will lasts the average user well into the future. Keep in mind that BYD started building batteries 30years ago long before they started building cars so are very familiar with the technology.
My partner just bought a new mg4, currently on sale, 35k 10 year warranty. 480km.range. got full comp insurance for just over 1k. I don't know where you checked the insurance on the byd but it certainly isnt the same for mg4. The home charger was just over 1800 installed. Chargers in 4 hours. Couldn't be more happy with changing from ice to ev. The ice service costs were getting worse and and worse plus rego in Qld made the ev far more affordable..
ICE cars also depreciate. I had a BMW X5 (purchased for close to $100,000) traded it in for $10,000 ten years later. In the meantime, the door actuators had to be replaced, radiator decided to pack it in while driving in the Sydney Harbour Tunnel (that was fun), service was $1500 a pop. Replaced it with a Camry hybrid and enjoyed a decade of trouble free motoring. Now I have an EV and so far so good. I also have solar so I pay zip for fuel and servicing is every 2 years. Comprehensive insurance cost me less than $720 (pays to shop around).
I mean, if you bought a $100,000 car in the first place, your yearly take-home must be like $200,000, so running it was not a big deal for you. A new Camry is $60,000 and would be a major expense for someone on $75,000 a year.
Yeah, but you have gone from an X5 to a Camry. Obviously you will save money. Door actuators and a radiator over 10 years? So it was extremely reliable then? Your Toyota will have some expensive maintenance items after 10 years too. Don’t kid yourself. All of mine have, including a RAV4 gearbox that lost 5th gear and couldn’t be repaired and a Prado that needed a new engine after 160,000 km.
@@antonilavin2488 No it was not extremely reliable; Euro trash comes to mind. I had the Camry for a decade and all it cost me was fuel, replacement tyres and regular service costs. Prior to the BMW, I have never owned a car with doors that refused to open.
@@timeodaneosetdona I get quotes every year, otherwise insurance companies take advantage of you. Last year I was insured with NRMA (they were the cheapest) and this year I am insured with Bingle (cheapest). Next year I will be insured with whomever gives me the best rates. 😁
BYD was the brand that was the turning point of my opinion on Chinese cars, especially with the Seal and now the shark. We are entering a Chinese golden era for their cars, legacy automakers need to catch up, big time.
@ used car dealerships just won’t accept them. So whatever selling price claimed is essentially just the asking price. No one in their right mind would pay $45k for a used BYD. It’s more like $4.5k
@@yslee1401 Again, I'm not an EV fan and certainly appreciate they depreciate more than many cars and that used car outlets are wary but if you can show me where I can buy a BYD Atto 3 for $4.5k I'll buy it right now! Send me a link and I'll buy it first tomorrow morning as per above parameters. I'll even post the redacted receipt.
He had an EV for a year and loved it. A Kia from memory. But he has off street parking and a charger port and that's the perfect combo. His only criticism apart from recharging on the road was that the eco-tyres sucked. He changed them out and loved it even more.
I bought a used Atto 3. Best car I have ever owned. Bought with 7,000. It now has 39,000km. It goes as well as the day I bought it. Some small issues. It gets hot when sitting still in the traffic. I put an inside reflective sun-shield in for the sunroof. That helped. I also added stick-on white auto-vinyl on the outside of the sunroof - that helped more. I always use a windscreen sunshield when I park. Yes, the door panels get dinged from being doored in the carpark. Part of the issue is that it is a bit wider than some cars, but that also makes it handle better. A few minor electronic bugs, that seem to be fixed by restarting. The corner of the driver's door had a sharp plastic corner, which gashed my leg - I cut it off with a razor blade - problem solved. All the other corners were already fixed. Yes, the standard tyres are a bit slippery in the wet, but I will replace them soon. They are still working fine in the dry after three rotations. Part of the problem is the immense torque. The range is about 380 to 420 km in the city, depending on how you drive, but 300 to 330km on the highway. The slower you drive, the further you can go, or just stop more often. Topping up to 75% to 80% when on the highway gives quicker charging, because that's the point at which the charging slows down. I took the cables and foam out of the boot and put the floor down for boot space. Two large suitcases can fit, with some side space, with the shelf still in.
Because a cars a big purchase and people need to feel validated in the decision they made. That’s about the only reason I can think of why people get worked up over them.
Great review guys. Its nice to see an unbiased review on an EV, good or bad. We own a cupra born atm and love our EV for every day communting. Owning an EV does take a mindset change though, and just keep it charged, which means its on charge 2 times a week, and keeping your car in the 20-80% sweet spot means you get nowhere near the wltp claims. But for a city car, we wont go back to ICE. We have a diesel 7seat SUV if we need it for longer trips and family things.
BYD vehicles have solid reliability. There are taxis in China that have crossed 600,000~700,000 km in 4~6 years on original batteries and they still have slightly more than 80% SoH. There's a good reason they are capturing the market worldwide. Haters will keep posting non-sense but that won't change a thing. The change is coming and the future of automobiles belong to China.
Yup. I love it when people who've never even been in one talk about how bad they are. I've owned a BYD Dolphin for a year now, by far the best car i've ever had.

China are leaving traditional car makers in the dust, especially EVs, on price and quality. It's not just BYD, but Tesla' suffered a lot of depreciation due to a range of low priced EVs coming out of China....on that note we get China made Teslas in Oz of better build quality than US made ones.

@@yslee1401It is wonderful isn't it? I bought a 6 months old used Atto 3 (odo - 7000+km) still under warranty for less than US$20k (US$36k new!) and i have been driving it for 5 months, so far it cost me nothing for maintenance.
I recently drove a friend's Atto 3. Damn I was surprised at how quick it is. Not a bad little unit. However, there are a few reasons I wouldn't buy one myself. Firstly, the boot is too small. Secondly, the nearest dealer is 3 hours away in Sydney. Thirdly, as you can possibly guess by my previous statement, a lack of charging infrastructure here out west of the Blue Mountains, plus, being in a rental, the lack of possibility of installing a home charger. I did want to consider EV for my next car, but until infrastructure etc catches, not yet.
you can charge it at any standard power socket. you dont need a specialised charger. Ive only charged twice in public charger in first year of ownership. With the seats down I can even sleep in it when i need to.
We do regular road trips and unless you own a Tesla, the charging situation is pathetic. Not into Tesla's, so it's a stalemate for us on BEV's, until infrastructure improves heaps, or Tesla opens it's network.
It IS good "for the planet" to put your EV into the used market when you buy a new EV every few years. That gives someone the chance to get off petrol at a really nice price.
ahh yes but what about replacing the lithium battery's to keep them running! Mining Lithium and producing Lithium ION batteries does worse things then ICE ever could

I would have an EV for the daily commute. But I still have many reservations about EVs and I don't feel we have seen the full picture with EVs. I would always have to have a petrol car in my life too. I'm a born and bred petrolhead and the love of driving , the sounds, the involvement, the mechanical feel and that will never go away. My biggest gripe isn't specifically a8med at EVs but the ridiculous technology on these and new ICE cars. As someone who works in the car repair industry, I am seeing unbelievably increasing prices for components and parts and all new cars are becoming ridiculously unfixable. Technology is taking away too much control and skill. Great video as always.
My next car will likely be a BYD Sealion 6 Hybrid. No worrying about range since it will go over 1K kilometers on a tank, and charge while using the engine, and you can drive in the city on the electric up to 100ks. Seems like the best compromise.
The drivers complaining about the car breaking all of a sudden: this happened to me once, in a very narrow street where I was driving just a few centimeters away from parked cars. Other than that, nothing to report. They just need to learn how to overtake (go into the next lane soon enough instead of tailgating like a moron before a takeover). I do agree on the lane assist being too aggressive. I tend to disable it when I'm driving in the UK, with all their garbage roads (I go to the UK 3-4 times a year, so I know this is specific to places with bad roads, as I haven't had any problems anywhere in Europe except for the UK)
I would definitely buy BYD. Especially the Seal. Gorgeous car. I spoke to an owner of an Atto 3 and he commutes to Melbourne with it a few days a week.
Tell that to ATTO3 Canberra owner whose battery died travelling at 100km/h with 2 kids in the back seat. BYD denied warranty claims until the media intervened
Great car just traded it in for a shark as I’m trying to just run one car in future so diesel Ute gone as well. I’ve experienced two years of super cheap trouble free motoring easily best car I’ve ever owned. The insurance for me $800pa , service costs no problem, great local dealer, super comfortable on long trips driven it Cairns to Ballina a few times and Winton and Longreach done easily. Loved my sun roof and guitar strings new windscreen no issues Obrien reckon super easy calibration 👍
Excellent review! Just before the end when you mentioned the hybrid version of the Lexus NX as an alternative, I opened my eyes wide - as the new ones are more than AUD 100 grand. I guess if you can find a good two- to- three year old model at half the price (??) it's really worth thinking about.
We have an MG4 as our EV and Mazda 2 as our ICE car. We don't travel long distance and have a charger installed at home, so having an EV makes perfect sense. We took the Mazda 2 for an interstate trip since we didn't want to stop frequently but it does bare minimum driving as the second car
6 months ago it was time to go fully electric with our 2nd car and get something used (our main car is an MG4). The ATTO 3 was still out of our budget so we decided to trade our i30 for a used 2021 MG ZS EV. It doesn't have half the bells and whistles of the BYD but it's comfortable, reliable and does everything we want an electric car to do. Best of all, you can find them for under $20K.
I've got a Chinese made 2022 Ford Territory, which isn't available in Oz, but is one of the best cars I've owned, for the purpose it serves. I've owned Mercs, two Alfas, a Porsche 911S4, a Range Rover and a few Korean and Japanese cars, but now that I'm older and based in the Philippines for work, I sit in a lot of traffic jams and drive on bad roads, and this vehicle had held up really well. The build quality is superb, and the interior is really nice, and it's well equipped. It's a cross over with an ICE turbo, so it's got decent get up and go, but it's the extras that stand out, like adaptive cruise, ldw, panoramic sunroof, 360 camera, seat cooling etc. And it was affordable. It was actually tuned and co developed by Ford Australia. The Philippines has a lot of Chinese vehicles, and they hold up really well here and have a great reputation for reliability.
The battery charging advice from Jim is not quite correct. The BYD Atto3 has a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery as opposed to the "regular" NMC batteries. The old advice of "not too full, not too empty" doesn't apply fully. Operating at maxiumum charge all the time is still bad for the battery (although they handle it better than NCM battery chemisty) however operating at low charge is actually good for battery longevity. For maximum theoretical longevity, operating at low voltages (charging between 0-25%) is technically the best. Obviously that's not very practical, and due to the battery chemisty, the % remaining could be innacurate. Because the charge curve of LFP batteries is so flat, every now and then the battery needs to be charged to 100% to reset the systems detection of battery charge. Jason @ Engineering Explained has a well referenced video ua-cam.com/video/w1zKfIQUQ-s/v-deo.html

I test drove one brand new last year and I’m not sure what happened but I unironically thought the interior materials were terrible, normally if it’s acceptable it’s okay, but it was so bad that it was a dealbreaker, especially the hard plastic parts and how much hard plastic there was on the centre console and shifter and the door bins Especially considering the Lexus NX you pointed out at the end for the same price, infinitely better build quality interior Or if I wanted something newer the NX’s younger brother a Toyota rav4 for the same price WAY better buys unless you’re sold on an EV
Talk non stop but telling us nothing we don’t know, all cars depreciate, it is not an investment, it’s a liability that gives the owner convenience of travel . I have been using atto 3 for the last two years now, never experienced any of the things this guy is talking about.
The bings and bongs he mentionied is not a problem anymore. I drive the SEAL and it hasn't made any unwanted noise 99.9% of the time after configuration changes made especially after turning off the sound for speeding. It's also a one time configuration not something you need to do every day. There is also the ability to configure how sensitive the safety systems work. The problems he mentioned is only true for older firmware. However, the review overall is excellent and unbiased.
I had two new loan cars for about a month a Kia cerato and Hyundai 130 both were 2022 models, They both bing bonged far too much and yes before I started driving I would turn off as much as I could and always drove in sport mode, I found them both to be very frustrating to drive as I do not need a car thinking it knows what I need to do and so I purchased a 2010 ford focus and I love it, you get in start it up and off you go.

I drive (in Thailand) a BYD Dolphin (16 months, 38,000 km) and I am quite impressed of the quality. We also bought an Atto 3 which has now 30,000 km after 12 months. The Chinese tires are not too bad and I will change them at the 40,000 km service. The infotainment is not special great but it is getting better and better with the updates. Weak points are the ADAS and the headlights.
Due to the overinflated prices and troubling dip in quality of both cars & customer service, I will start buying chinese cars purely out of spite towards Germans.
I'm driving another BYD car - SeaLion6. Unless they are very very different, I personally did not find the steering to be any worse than in my previous Kia Cerato. Yes, it is very easy to rotate but I like it and when I had to drive Cerato afterwards, I always though about how more difficult it was to do that. Plus there is a settins there that affect the steering wheel behavior. The main issue with BYD and similarly designed cars is that the charger is on the road side of the vehicle. I see many BYD drivers park the wrong way (i.e., illegally) to get to a roadside charger. Cops lilove it fine for dtiving the wrong as is is a way on a street.

In terms of length of time since it was released, it’s one of the newer cars we’ve reviewed. Though the info in the video is largely based around an owner we spoke to who owns 7 Atto 3s used for a ride sharing business. All of them with over 100,000kms, which puts them on par with cars 5+ years old
@@ReDrivenWell, to be fair, no it doesn’t. I understand what you’re getting at but time is time with exterior materials and durability especially in the Aussie climate. The only validity in equivalent comparison is cars subject to the same regimen.
Calling them brand new is simply wrong. The one we reviewed had 75,000kms, on it. There's only one way to describe that car - used. Others we are basing the critique on had 100,000kms+ and had seen thousands of customers through ride-sharing. Time is only one component of durability. Use is another. Sure, it's newer than most cars we review, we don't deny that, but even if they're only 6, 12, 18 months old, whatever it may be, that's the state people are buying them. So there's relevant info to be gained either way
There's one Chinese company that gave me my first experience with quality from China and that's Xioami, mostly through Roborock and Dreame products. But now they make an electric car also in very limited numbers and sold out for the next year or two as well I think. Hopefully no spyware but Xioami seems to make really good things.
Purchased the MGZS EV about a year ago, and had the 7Kw charger at home installed. Done 50,000 kilometres, no issues whatsoever. MG has a bigger dealer network and a 7 year warranty, so that's why I chose it over the BYD. As far as devaluation is concerned, it only cost me $20 per week to travel 50,000 klms a year. it pays for itself over the 7 year warranty period. Devaluation? Meh. Calculate $100 per week of petrol over 7 years! So far so good. It is what it is, but what it is is OK. Nowhere near as bad as you would think. The power is delicious. Like me, if you can live with it, it is hands down the superior choice. Kind of feels like going back to petrol would be a majour downgrade. One year on, I would never wish to turn the clock back. I chose correctly.
My problem with the BYD isn't the car, to be honest, but the... implications and the reality of where it came from... I'm not sure I want the package deal that comes with it 😅.

You’re just being sucked into the marketing hype. Plus their manufacturing is some of the best in the world now. Look at the case of Teslas made in USA vs the ones made in China. People were specifically hunting for serial numbers of Teslas made in China to buy as the ones made in USA were so poorly made. Buy American?…. Nop I’ll buy Chinese thanks, better quality 😂
Not sure you can form any meaningful opinion on reliability, given it's been around for 5 minutes, unless it's really bad, straight out of the gate? Hired one of these for 10 days/1700km. A pretty decent drive, very comfy, versatile and looks well put together. A little floaty at higher speeds. But rewards with smooth ride around our crappy suburban roads. Nice and punchy, like most BEV's.
In terms of length of time since it was released, it’s one of the newer cars we’ve reviewed. Though the info in the video is largely based around an owner we spoke to who owns 7 Atto 3s used for a ride sharing business. All of them with over 100,000kms, which puts them on par with cars 5+ years old
Its all well and good ReDriven saying we should appreciate each powerplant for what it can do, but the manufacturers and marketeer wankers keep offering things it cant do. It continues to be marketed as a replacement for the ICE but until it can do what an ICE does for a similar purchase and running cost, it will not be universally accepted. People will not tolerate a backward step for a higher price and many cant afford to do so anyway.
How cars are marketed is always going to be something to contend with. We’re attempting to create a narrative where the marketing and noise around a car is the least relevant part of the car buying equation.
EV's are a backwards step in some ways compared to an ICE car, but in many ways they are far better. It mostly depends on your personal circumstances, but if you have your own home (particularly if you have solar), and you don't drive very long distances often, nothing compares to an EV for a daily driver. It's hard to fathom how easy and convenient they are to use and how cheap they are to run and maintain compared to an ICE car. EV technology will continue to improve, particularly with regard to battery density and charging rates, and that will help with some of their drawbacks in the coming decades.
@@moggy4086 The trouble is there are many many ppl that do not have solar, or a garage, or the money to purchase one, but the govt is mandating no new ICE cars from XXXX. It's only a good replacement for a small sector of cars. The" battery tech will get better" is an annoying cliche that has worn very thin. Coz it isnt true to any significant degree. Li ion was invented in the 1970s, not put into cars until 1998 and here we are 26 yrs later. You're blowing smoke out of your bum. Its only 6 years until new ICEs are banned in some countries. @@simonvancoevorden295 Funny, everything I've bought that is Chinese has been very good, at least the stuff I expect to last a bit. Like my phone for example has performed flawlessly for coming up on 4 years now. But then again I'm not lying so...
An ICE car is at least 20 times more likely to catch fire than an EV. There have been only nine EV fires in all of Australia in the last four years, while there have been tens of thousands of ICE car fires in that time. There are issues when it comes to EV's, in that they aren't the answer for everyone, but the massively decreased chance of fire in an EV is a significant strength of the type when compared to ICE vehicles.
Yeah the BYD Blade battery, LFP chemistry in a blade design, come back with a documented case of a single BYD Atto, Dolphin or Seal in an export market catching fire.
don't listen to haters but let's see the fact. I drove from Melbourne to Adelaide this Christmas 2024, There is no EV on the highway/freeway between two states, all of them are ICE and Hybrid =)))
I have an Atto Extended and broadly agree with your assessment. They are a great car and I too love the interior style. I also do not get the stated WLTP range for the Extended. I find I typically get 360-390km for city driving and 300-330km for freeways. However, only once have I driven from 100% down to 1% for a real range test (rather than making an estimate) and achieved 388km. The dynamic calculated range on the driver's display is rubbish. I totally concur with having a gear lever in the familiar location of older cars as opposed to a rotary switch or stalk. I really detest the trend by manufacturers away from having a typical gear lever. Other things I love about the Atto are the fact it has a broad sunroof that opens and a sunshade. Other EV's that I'm aware of do not offer this. Agreed regarding the suspension. On a bumpy country road it feels like being in a dinghy riding the ocean swell. Agree also that the air-conditioning is a bit insipid in hot weather. Part of the problem is heat from the sunroof. I believe this can be mitigated with tinting of the sunroof, but I haven't tried this yet. Agree about charging speed: DC 89kW Max is a bit disappointing in this day and age with numerous competitor EV's offering significantly faster charging. AC charging could also be faster. However, I find 7kW adequate for overnight charging. I really love the Atto and think in many ways it is one of best EV's on the market for its size, style and features, notwithstanding the underperformance on the stated WLTP range and the disappointing charging speed. I would love an upgraded version with a bigger battery, perhaps 70-80kWh, and faster charging, perhaps 150kW or more.
I don't really mind if it's good or not, but the real question for me is, "why would you make the choice of buying a Chinese EV?" What kind of solution is this to what kind of problem/question?
I'm sure its reasonably well built, the Chinese home brand Auto industry would _not_ be selling under-baked cars on the world market...just as the Japanese wouldn't have in the 1960/70's _however_ the design leaves much to be desired with the interior looking like a wet tissue draped over a milk bottle tied together with a red cable tie. Build Your Dreams might work in Nigeria...it doesn't in established markets, and is highly presumptive in the negative.
You mention a lot of different software issues faced by owners and you brush it off saying that restarting it tends to fix it or an update might. Adas and other software issues you say is common with it applying brakes or aggressive lane keeping.

I recently drove a friend's Atto 3. Damn I was surprised at how quick it is. Not a bad little unit. However, there are a few reasons I wouldn't buy one myself. Firstly, the boot is too small. Secondly, the nearest dealer is 3 hours away in Sydney.
That’s right mate your EV is perfect for your future 15 min cities

Well done Adam and team, another fantastic ReDriven review.
I keep a diary for my ATTO and I calculate range based on odo (for accuracy) I get around 400k range. Love the car. Who would drive a gas car?
CNY0.50 for you
The battery charging advice from Jim is not quite correct.
Hahaha mate i actually didn't notice the cicadas because they were going nuts in my background too! Had to pause for a second like what??? How does he hear my cicadas??😂

I test drove one brand new last year and I’m not sure what happened but I unironically thought the interior materials were terrible, normally if it’s acceptable it’s okay, but it was so bad that it was a dealbreaker, especially the hard plastic parts and how much hard plastic there was on the centre console and shifter and the door bins
Especially considering the Lexus NX you pointed out at the end for the same price, infinitely better build quality interior
Or if I wanted something newer the NX’s younger brother a Toyota rav4 for the same price
WAY better buys unless you’re sold on an EV
All cars depreciates but PRC branded ones depreciate by more than 75% within 12 months

Yes, it is very easy to rotate but I like it and when I had to drive Cerato afterwards, I always though about how more difficult it was to do that. Plus there is a settins there that affect the steering wheel behavior.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m total petrol head and like these cars, but these are brand new cars not used.

My full charge says 480 kms and it barely gets 400 around town. On the highway it drops to about 320. You just have to get used to it.
Safety features might be somewhere on the fusebox, on the seal apparently it is.
I don't really mind if it's good or not, but the real question for me is, "why would you make the choice of buying a Chinese EV?" What kind of solution is this to what kind of problem/question?
