  • EVs tend to knock your socks off regarding features, kit, and then some, but in addition to the wow factor these cars bring, the price tag can also get quite shocking. Now here's a crossover that sets your expectations with a price tag of under P2,000,000, but with value that we feel will be the key to unlocking success in the future. Is it going to be the next big thing? It's a crossover, so it's practical, it's an EV, so it's nice to drive, but is it worth it? Find out in this episode of Behind the Wheel.

    The master of EV has arrived. Even other makers like toyota and tesla ordered Batteries from BYD. Tried it as grab car, really comfy and quiet. Those guitar strings actually sound e, a, g keys. Minor complaints only the all touch screen buttons, and that logo at the back. Might as well say "build your dreams, go after them, never back down, to infinity and beyond..."

    Charging a 60Kwh pack at home using the wall ordinary wall outlet from 0-100% will take 34 hrs with a 8A-220V outlet, 27 hrs for 10A-220V and 21 hrs for 13A-220V. If you wanna get the 10hr charging speed, you will need a 27A supply and a special wallcharger like Wallbox.

    I bet this is still faster than most subcompact crossovers. I might be wrong though. For a starting price of under 1.6m, those with extra disposable cash who wants to try an EV might actually get this as their stepping stone towards a future and much better branded electric vehicle.

      you may not be saving mother earth but Filipino lungs and child's brain development will thank EV drivers for not emitting smog, soot and all kind of pollutants, with coal power generations their exhaust are concentrated in remote areas far away from the populace, also you can install solar panels from your roof if you own a house.

    • @wanderingandroid
      @wanderingandroid 4 місяці тому

      no, it's just goof balls pretending to be eco friendly while completely ignoring the coal fired power plants that charges their vehicle or how destructive mining for rare earth materials is for the batteries. it just about the optics and the shiet they can post on social media. 😂

    • @azrael9986

      "Saving mother Earth" EV meat suckers always fail to disclose that the mining of rare Earth metals produces a lot more pollution than the mining of oil, the lithium ion batteries are also most of the time not recycled because the process of recycling lithium is inefficient and costly and you woke environmentalist are hypocrites just a couple of years ago you were protesting smartphone companies for mining lithium now everyone applauds EV manufacturers even though they mine more.

  • @laspinas1986
    @laspinas1986 Місяць тому

    See, this is the issue I have with EVs: Let's say a typical trip to La Union takes 4.5 hours. In the event that you need to juice up during your trip, that adds another good 60 minutes to your trip to add a fraction of percentage (via fast charging), that is if you get a charging slot immediately. What if there are more people lined up before you? Versus typical few minutes using ICE / Hybrid. Then once you get to your accommodation, another challenge is finding a charging port in the parking slot in a hotel, resort, or airbnb. And if you do find one, it wont be fast charging. So you need the entire night to charge up the car, again, if you find a charging slot in the parking. And if you do, will they even allow you. Such a hassle.
    Range anxiety will still be a thing unless you see dozens of charging ports available at every gas station.

    Does BYD own the dealers that sell these cars? There's plenty room for price reduction to BYDs in Ph. Atto3 cost an equivalent of 1M pesos only in China but China is a wealthy country, their middle class is wealthier than the middle class here. I think a reasonable price for Atto 3 is the price of the expensive Nissan Kicks at 1.25M or 250K pesos above the Toyota Rush.

    Love EVs but they are only worth it in and around Manila. Also it's not really 585km per charge, since you will use that battery for your radio, ac, lights, etc., worse for heavy footed drivers.

    • @reefmint

      The range factored in radio, ac, lights, etc. A heavy foot would be bad for fuel economy, but negligible on battery life. And this is an EV.

    Let's see if the local fire department can handle EV fires. The US fire department says it takes 150, 000 liters of water to extinguish an EV fire while it takes 1,500 liters of water to extinguish an ICE vehicle. The US fire department also has a special set of personal protective equipment when dealing with EVs because the chemicals inside the batteries when burnt are cancerous.
