Just curious guys (because this is my first time playing a game like this and I’m still waiting for it on ps5 so idk anything about baulder’s gate), but when you make a character in a single player campaign, do you carry that character over for a multiplayer campaign? Or do u make an entirely new character? Idk what an origin character is and I’m also wondering if these online campaigns are something that will last a long time, because I’m trying to convince my friends to buy this game, but I don’t know if they wanna buy it if the multiplayer campaigns are super short and repetitive. Sorry for the long paragraph, but I just want to know some stuff before going into this game! (I’ll be playing the crap out of single player regardless, but I’m just wondering if the multiplayer will be worth it for my friends since idk if they’ll play single player, which ik is a huge disservice for this awesome game)
How does dying work? If the host player is downed and dies. Does the host have to keep the game open, while the others try to revivfy? Started a campaign with buddies and I died. And was just stuck with looking at my dead body until we could figure out how to continue. Is it best to just get the whole party killed to force a previous save? I don’t mind going the extra mile in figuring out ways to save a party member, just wish you weren’t limited to viewing only your own character while dead. Should be a way to view what the others are up to in the meantime
Late to the party but nice guide, really helpful. Do you know by any chance why in multiplayer the buffs only last some turns? In single player for example "guidance" stays on my character till the next long rest, but in multiplayer it counts down from 10 turns and then it's gone. Or is this a part of multiplayer?
Answered nearly every question about co-op for me. Only one remaining. How much of an effect on the world state do the non host characters have? For example, romance. Obviously the host has a ton of option when it comes to romance, at least that's what I've heard from friends who played it. However, will the non host characters be able to engage in romances as well? Or can they simply talk and gather information?
@TheCoOpBros That's amazing!!! I've wanted a game like this for me and my friends for so long. We're huge dragon age fans, so I can't wait to actually sink my teeth into this beast.
I may have missed it but if you start a split screen campaign on one console can you play your character on your own console together with that other player to continue the campaign on separate consoles?
So can you share or give your Skills Checks Proficiency Bonuses to other members of the Party even if you didn't initiate or manage the conversation or interaction? For example, if you are good at Dex checks, but bad at Charisma roll, but you need to Persuade or Intimidate someone - can I use my coop friend/Partner's Skills mid conversation? Or maybe the game uses automatically the best player for the job? Please answer
No you can’t use your co-op partners Skill mid convo or interaction. If you have a character with you that has the Guidance spell (which lets you add a D4 to an ability check) then in the interaction/Roll you do get the option to add that to your modifier. There may be similar spells like that but that’s really the only time a friend can help you during a roll/interaction. Otherwise, you have to work together to make sure you have the right person doing the right task.
I got a question... so I try to avoid the spoil, but, imagine if the host take a decision that change the skills.. and I want to take the same... How do I do that?

I will be playing next weekend with 3 friends on PS5. Should we play with 4 created characters or 4 origin characters? I heard origin characters get special story and items?
I’m still confused as to how Origin characters work in co op. Let’s say, I have my Custom Character, Shadowheart, Karlach, and Lae’zel in my party. Can I assign one of those characters for my friend to control in multiplayer? Or, is my friend forced to create and control a new custom character? Another scenario. Let’s say, my friend and I start a new brand new campaign together, and he picks Shadowheart as his Origin character. I am aware that if I want to romance Shadowheart, I won’t be able to while he is in control of the character. But, how about when he is not controlling Shadowheart? Can I still romance Shadowheart like a normal companion?
I’m not really a fan of split screen, would it automatically be split screen if I play with a friend online. Just two players. Like I have my on ps5 and he does too.
@@louisfrederick6512 the "main" character is the person who hosted the game. Once a player has started a romance with a character it locks it put for other players. If it's just the two of us from the start, will the game demand us both to be present at all times?
Why double mouse/keyboard setup local mode is still not a thing. Forces us to goof with that controllers. Only game a remember for the past 15 years uses 2 mouse is serious sam 3.
So I'm a little confused. If I start a campaign with 4 people all making custom characters, but then next session one person can't make it and doesn't log on, will I be able to swap their character out of the party and replace them with an Origin character? Or will they be stuck in my party as a custom NPC?
So for couch coop if I the host create the room and my wife creates a new character can that character with stats / enhancements be used in her solo game, Or require and new character. abasically is all coop created characters locked to the coop requiring new solo characters to be built for solo games? I don't think I like the idea of have 3-4 different characters just for me alone before I even play the game in depth.
I think I’m understanding this right? Characters are locked to the campaign they’re on. So if you and your wife create a game, you can both choose to create a custom character or use a pre-existing character (origin character). Regardless of what you choose, your characters will be locked to that single campaign. If your wife creates her own campaign, she won’t be able to use her character from the campaign she shares with you. She’ll have to start fresh. Hopefully that answers the question 👍
I've just bought this on Xbox, and playing split screen with my wife. But (so far) it seems only I can talk to other characters. We have only just started, but if she tries to initiate a conversation with Lae'zel, she just replies "stop wasting my time" or similar, and there is no option to have a conversation. If I talk to her though, she still says "not now", but it does open the dialogue options for me. I assume this is how it will be for the whole game - or are we doing something wrong. At the moment, I think we will just have to start over, making her character the main character. (She had chosen a character to maximise charisma, while I had chosen a barbarian, so she can do most the talking and I can focus more on fighting.) But can anyone suggest a better alternative?
So i have a problem that i have no clue how to fix. Im playing on xbox series s and whenever i start a new game and get to character creation and connect that second controller, ill press A and nothing happens.
