    I find if I'm aiming to press off a 1-2, the counter hook is often whats coming back so I come under or shift/pivot to the right, staying off the center line. If they throw the hook, I'm safe, if they defend I have them off balance. Then unload. Obviously you cant do this everytime, but I do find even if the opponent moves way from my range I am usually safe. Its a go to for me. Forget I said so if we're ever in the ring together though

  • @FairladyS130
    @FairladyS130 6 років тому +5

    That crouching stance also reduces the exposure of your body to hits which means your defence is easier to manage. You also demonstrate that the way you move forward gives constant options so no matter how many times you come forward like that your opponent should never be able to tell in advance what your next move or punch will be. Being predictable is something that must be avoided. Great lesson and nicely demonstrated.

    Coach Jt Van V, in my opinion, this is one of your best instructional videos! As a boxer, I'm basically a pressure fighter that's a switch hitter (ambidextrous). I'm very awkward, yet effectively aggressive, and always striving to be defensibly responsible. For me as a southpaw. in respect to the great instruction, I attack with a 1-2 (jab, straight left) or 1-1-2 (double jab, straight left); then I drop or slip outside (VERY IMPORTANT for me to keep my head low and my chin down to remain defensibly responsible); then I finish off with firing a 2 (straight left) and a 1 (jab). Thanks Coach Jt Van V, this video is a gem! In my opinion, your videos on 'Shifting for Boxing and MMA' and this one, 'Best Way to Get Inside in Boxing' are your best! Those two are my favorite. If you can do more videos on shifting for boxing (Mike Tyson, GGG, Manny Pacquiao, Dmitry Pirog, Jack Dempsey, Bob Fitzsimmons, etc.) that would be awesome!
    Thank you and Sincerely,

    Closing the distance must be one of the most difficult moves to accomplish damage free, the top tier fighter who primarily waits for others to come to him has a big advantage that is almost unbeatable eg Crawford, Mayweather.

    • @criminaltotheworld3154
      @criminaltotheworld3154 6 років тому +2

      Edward Welsch keep your guard tight while moving your head, while getting inside. To avoid getting uppercuts, make sure your head doesn't pass your lead knee.

    • @anisinmp19
      @anisinmp19 6 років тому

      going in on an angle would be great too. more like a slip with the back step..on either direction. that will keep you at a curve, slightly away from the uppercut but if someone sees it and uses a shovel hook, you're gonna get smacked right on your face so keep your gaurd tight and expect a shot when you get in so it doesn't leave you surprised. but with this advice you'll only have to worry about shovel hooks because you've already taken care of the uppercut.
