Been fighting for 4ys and have a boxing match this weekend. This guy is legit. Youre always making small adjustments in each and every scenario in a fight. This guy covered all of them. Thanks dude.
I find if I'm aiming to press off a 1-2, the counter hook is often whats coming back so I come under or shift/pivot to the right, staying off the center line. If they throw the hook, I'm safe, if they defend I have them off balance. Then unload. Obviously you cant do this everytime, but I do find even if the opponent moves way from my range I am usually safe. Its a go to for me. Forget I said so if we're ever in the ring together though
That crouching stance also reduces the exposure of your body to hits which means your defence is easier to manage. You also demonstrate that the way you move forward gives constant options so no matter how many times you come forward like that your opponent should never be able to tell in advance what your next move or punch will be. Being predictable is something that must be avoided. Great lesson and nicely demonstrated.
Coach Jt Van V, in my opinion, this is one of your best instructional videos! As a boxer, I'm basically a pressure fighter that's a switch hitter (ambidextrous). I'm very awkward, yet effectively aggressive, and always striving to be defensibly responsible. For me as a southpaw. in respect to the great instruction, I attack with a 1-2 (jab, straight left) or 1-1-2 (double jab, straight left); then I drop or slip outside (VERY IMPORTANT for me to keep my head low and my chin down to remain defensibly responsible); then I finish off with firing a 2 (straight left) and a 1 (jab). Thanks Coach Jt Van V, this video is a gem! In my opinion, your videos on 'Shifting for Boxing and MMA' and this one, 'Best Way to Get Inside in Boxing' are your best! Those two are my favorite. If you can do more videos on shifting for boxing (Mike Tyson, GGG, Manny Pacquiao, Dmitry Pirog, Jack Dempsey, Bob Fitzsimmons, etc.) that would be awesome! Thank you and Sincerely, Jeff "Rattlesnake" Railey 5X Champion Masters Amateur Boxer
I'll take this advice to heart. Sparred with a guy that had height and reach advantage and was getting one/two'd on my way in most of the time. Super frustrating.
Brooo.. You are the most proper person on UA-cam (not only boxing wise) haha true G.. have watched most of your videos bro and some of them I repeat daily. Huge tips and tricks! Ive been to GYMs in three countries and each one of them missed some of the most important components which I saw from you. Keep the good work going buds!
Fantastic stuff JT. This is great info for the shorter fighter such as myself. I don't train in a gym but use your methods quite a bit in the garage. Keep it up buddy!
I'm 5'4 and 140lbs. I'm going to compete this coming Saturday as a novice. Most likely I'll be the shortest guy. I'm nervous but seeing this video, gives me idea on what to use about getting inside. Thanks!
Closing the distance must be one of the most difficult moves to accomplish damage free, the top tier fighter who primarily waits for others to come to him has a big advantage that is almost unbeatable eg Crawford, Mayweather.
What a great channel I'm far from a boxer but learning the simple mechanics while getting a work out is optimal. Ty keep up the great work. Peace from Miami 🤜✴️🤛
Great video can you post a another on striking backward, forward, pivoting and sideways also setting up unorthodox combos for example double lead hook, lead uppercut, lead jab, or cross , jab , uppercut, hook
I think this is useful but the approach is prone to a clinch, pivot or opponent moving back in my opinion you need to create an angle still a great video and a good way to apply pressure !✅
this guy needs be a trainer man he analysis stuff gr8 i know trainers out there who i never fighter but they can see things and teach things the box cant see
how did you fare mate? i fought a dude 6.3" 71 inch reach and had a hard time closing distance then in round 3 i landed a heavy hook hurt him bad he bounced back caught me with a bomb straight and i ended up winning later on on points cause dude kept missing and i landed a few more strikes was very close though btw i'm 5.4" @ 144pounds we fought at 170 so i was a lil slower etc. but yeah
Great stuff, I needed this as a shorter novice sparrer myself. Question - what about getting countered by uppercuts or even low hooks when you dip and move forward?
Edward Welsch keep your guard tight while moving your head, while getting inside. To avoid getting uppercuts, make sure your head doesn't pass your lead knee.
going in on an angle would be great too. more like a slip with the back step..on either direction. that will keep you at a curve, slightly away from the uppercut but if someone sees it and uses a shovel hook, you're gonna get smacked right on your face so keep your gaurd tight and expect a shot when you get in so it doesn't leave you surprised. but with this advice you'll only have to worry about shovel hooks because you've already taken care of the uppercut.
Thanks for you amazing videos:) I have feet problem I can’t move sometimes my legs in the same time with my hands . Any advice or can you a video about that !
damn i cant believe this guy is giving something out so important and vital and he is doing it for free!

Without a doubt, the best channel of its type on UA-cam.
Check out Russian school of boxing. Very technical stuff … if you pendulum step you’ll like it.
Or Tim yankelos channel is good too
Love this as a short guy
Tyson was devastating with this!
But he did it mostly with head movement not punches

You’re a legend
Best combination of boxing knowledge and ability to articulate that knowledge on youtube.
Lomachenko uses that half step forward with the back leg quite often, but it's quick so it's difficult to notice w/out slowing the video down

Also this is a good method of not exerting to much energy on attack, not a push transfer but a stepping
I have just done a sparring with a guy 5 inches taller than me. I will be considering to apply your tips for the next one
