    the most feared punch from a short fighter is the uppercut

    • @Leo.23232
      @Leo.23232 4 роки тому +29

      I disagree, being taller favours the uppercut more I'd say. Body shots are good for shorter fighters since you are closer to that target.

    • @thotdestroyeroni7726
      @thotdestroyeroni7726 4 роки тому +2

      Leo. You can see an uppercut coming from a tall guy better than seeing it coming from a short guy

    • @Leo.23232
      @Leo.23232 4 роки тому

      @@thotdestroyeroni7726 Ok, that might be true, but the angle still favours the taller fighter.
      To explain what I mean, when you throw an uppercut, the first part of the motion has your fist going forward right? And the last goes sraight up. That means for you to have the connection be perpendicular for the first part of the movement, the target needs to be facing you.
      What that means is if you are trying to hit something below you (like an uppercut to the body) the punch must go forward right? You would know this of course even if you only hit the bag. This also means if you are taller than your opponent you can hit their face square with the same punch while they are facing you.
      Now, for the last part of the movement it goes upwards. This means that if you are hitting a target above you, it must be facing downwards. If you are fighting someone the same height as you or taller, this only happens if they are ducking their head down, which is a common situation when you pressure someone, but you need to wait for that opportunity. You will also know this is true when hitting the heavy bag with uppercuts somewhere higher up, you have to make a connection at an angle, which is weaker.
      What this means is as a taller fighter you can throw uppercuts whenever you want at whatever target. As a shorter fighter you must either throw them to the body, or make your opponent duck his head, which makes it more situational for a shorter fighter. And any short fighter (myself included, im 5'7") knows this is true, even if they can't explain why.
      Just to clarify, you can go for the head with an uppercut as a shorter fighter without them ducking, it just means the impact won't be flush with their face perpendicular, so its not as effective.

    sir may i ask have you any training for making sharper one's "instinct" in fighting? i mean, it's good to be technical and calculative but is there also in addition to that, a way to have a good hunch or intuition to which a fighter must move in a fight? like a freestyle dance, you're in the rhythm and zone and you don't get out of the beat sort of thing or in a piano, you can play all you want but you're in the correct Key so any note you play in the Key is never wrong in sound. Is there a similar way or concept in fighting? or is that just plain experience and untrainable? thanks papa JT Van V best vids as always

    I need help here. So I wanted to do Muay Thai (Kickboxing) this summer, then I'm slowly starting to find interest in boxing because it looks cool. Can any of guys give me any advise if I should choose Muay thai or Boxing. plz respond.

    • @JoeySkate24
      @JoeySkate24 6 років тому +4

      Muay thai is more complete but thai fighting is more focused on either very close combat or very far combat and typically not medium range. Boxing is mostly all about medium range fighting. In my opinion from torso up be a boxer from torso down be a thai fighter. Trust me do both and they work like wonders together. In my opinion its the most complete you can get with these 2 arts in your striking game. Peace

    Finally. A video that doesn't show countering like the other guy sticking his arm out for 2 minutes. Acting like you can slip, close the distance and throw a hook all before the guy pulls his lead hand back in.

    I always see videos on how to get inside of a tall one,but never how to play again a shorter fighter.You know guys it aint so izi to break a peak a boo guard from a rly small and strong guy with dirrects and everyone say its hell izi to figher vs short because the range.In reality it aint we cant rly lower guard and play with knees and ee have always keep distance and break enemy's offense...Any tip except from using jab and range,or if you say those how to correctly do that?Btw can u also recommend me a video about saying those or smth tnx for your time i searched but i saw 4-5 videos over and over not that usefull tbh...

      Swing1stAskQuestionsLast Yes they have a right jab so their liver is more vulnerable thats why i go for left body blows, and that thing of the left straight to the body when im back stepping doesnt happens to me probably because southpaws of my gym are taller than me so they usually aim to my head also i use a cross armed guard so in that "caso" (i dont know how that's said in english) i would parry the straight with my right hand, step in and clinch
