i really love this guy no homo, because he really has a passion to teach boxing without any intentions of getting any profit and he's very intelligent about the science of boxing in other words he knows his shit and is very dedicated to his craft by observing and learning different techniques from different pro boxers. This dude is the type of dude that if he would become a pro boxer, he would later eventually retire and become a trainer to teach those who admire the sport just for the love of teaching others.

I've been kickboxing for 2 years or so, so I am a relative beginner (compared to my Sensei and other instructors) but I've found slipping and jabbing at the same time is a very effective tactic, especially for someone like me who is not that tall!
Another great video - Thanks again. Valuable resource.

Excellent advise. The natural thing to do is to use the drop in the shoulder to load up your punch but that gets pretty predictable when every time you slip left you throw a left and visa versa. The value of your insight and experience is priceless to those guys who've just started out. Nice one

You've probabely heard it over and over again, but your explanations have the perfect balans between theoretical analysis and practical demonstration/implementation. I just started using them in my own boxing lessons more and more now (afterwards i often refer to your youtube movies, one can't copy without proper citation right?). So thanks for the clear, thorough and diverse descriptions of these essential boxing moves!

Jason, what about slipping and counter-jabbing at the same time? What I mean is when you see your opponent is about to or already starting jabbing at you, you slip to the right with your jab at him at the same time, not afterwards like you show here. It works pretty well for me for now.
P.S. You have real talent for coaching and explaining, especially considering that the entire video was shot non-stop with no editing, you stick to the point all the way and provide the essence of information.

Aleks Batogevskis Thanks so much Aleks. And yes of course slipping and jabbing at the same time is one of my favourite techniques, take a look here at this old video of mine - ua-cam.com/video/UzsWr6pG1wI/v-deo.html
also in this video I teach a whole variety of head movement and punching - www.precisionstriking.ca/product/video-head-movement-and-getting-inside/

Another great video JT. Regarding the issue of throwing a cross after a slip to the right, I guess that's why peek-a-boo boxing emphasizes slipping to the left (assuming your facing an orthodox fighter more than slipping to the right. Because the slips/bobs in peek-a-boo boxing are more pronounced than that of any other boxing style, when you slip to the left, you actually avoid the opponent's jab AND his cross, and by the time he retracts his rear hand, yours is perfectly aligned with his head, ready to be fired while your own head is still safely angled and tilted to left outside the centerline.

Good little video, personally this slipping with a jab is one of my go to moves, but lately on one of my buddies who has a running style it hasn't been as successful. Mainly because with him I'm forced to play a stalking pressurer style which I don't like to play. However I'll add this little detail of driving into him when he jabs and runs and see how that changes things. Thanks bud

The forward oblique slide to the left is particularly effective when combined with a reverse punch (Leading Right) if your opponent is moving forward to attack. You effectively evade & strike at the same time. The depth & power of the strike is increased by the fact that both attacker & defender are moving towards each other at the same time. This technique is not designed to be used to reduce the distance on an opponent who is out of range or moving backwards. This is why he is finding the technique slow as he is using it out of context.

Great vid. ...I also teach this technique, (old school British boxing technique), but I have found that when sparring my pupils throw the counter from a croach position and therefore it is easier to go for the body than the head, depending on the height of their opponant. Spot on with the right hand counter, I always found you only had a 50/ 50 chance of hitting a mobile opponant with that shot, again great vid. Well done. ..Keppe up the good work!

Like the Tyson Holmes fight ...perfect example in that fight of this tecnic .....that fight is full of slip then jab ....in the Mc Neely fight he found he was more unorthodox ...trowing different angles but Mc Neely was literaly trowing himself on Mike and mike was sometimes in front of him like literaly face to face but good head movement and catching him with a perfect right hand on the jaw ...i like this tecnic of head mvement and trowing a right cross to the face ...i like Mike , sometimes he trows from all angles , down up left right etc etc with lots of head movement ...;) thx for all your video shares JT Van V ...i learn from you and you are trully legit , the real thing boss ! ;)

Another alternative is to slip right, and counter with a jab to the body. I learned it in class, and it's very fast and effective, especially if followed by a right hook. I'll try out this head jab, looks pretty good too.
