I like how both with the Bergen and the helmet we go back to WW2 lessons about camouflage mainly because of drone surveillance. After WW2 we thought it was obsolete for the regular infantry to put camo nets and leaf on him because the intermediate cartridge rifles (5.56x45, 7,62x39) does not have the range to engage at the ranges that the camo could provide actual concealment.
As I’m presently readjusting my base plate on my ACH with this video playing. The “you really have to wrench it down.” Currently re-experiencing that lol
I'm glad someone is in favor of the full cut helmet. There is a reason why the design has stuck around so long, it covers a very important part of your head. Also, if you are fortunate enough to get an ECH, they can stop some lead core rifle rounds. An Army soldier got shot point blank with a PKM directly into the back of his ECH and was fine outside of a concussion.
Awesome explanations. Keeping it simple is the key for lethality and you do an excellent job demonstrating that here. Too many 03s are playing pretend -- trying to look like operators -- and failing to prepare for a broader, more extended mission set.
This video saved me from spending money on a high cut! I’ll have to get a set of that ear pro the cheaper Howard Leigh’s style are just too tight for my bucket head. Thank you for being realistic to the needs of the common man.
I remember when I first got in and got to my unit I use JB Caldwell on my rhino mount my ach that was the only modification I had to do, but this was the beginning of the war
The last piece of gear I use with my helmet is a Mohoc video camera for recording POV. Most guys are familiar with this piece of kit and its durability. I have found it to be one of the least temperamental helmet cams with some of the highest quality video capture available. And it can take beating. Like everything else, I want to make sure it is dummy-corded to my helmet. In this case, I don’t want to lose an expensive piece of kit. If I was still operating, I would not want to lose a camera containing sensitive mission data. The Mohoc comes with a lanyard string that’s long enough to wear like a necklace. Instead of using something so fragile, I built a custom-length loop of coated leader wire that attaches to a micro Nite-Ize S-Biner on the back of my helmet.!!!
The Wilcox g24 will have a slight amount of wobble, and it will get slightly worse with time but it’s not really something you’ll notice. I think most people who use the Bungees (including me) use them to keep pressure on the dovetail to prevent them from accidentally falling out if the release button gets bumped.
Good to see your channel grow! the quality of information and (no pun intended) your perspective towards things is a solid time investment for a lot of people. keep em coming!
Normal helmet really is way to go for most regular troops. If you have watched videos from Ukraine, there's just tons of shrapnel and all kinds of debris flying around. You really want as much protection as you can get. Obviously Ukraine isn't indicative how every war would go. But one thing is sure that against near peer you would be receiving a lot more fire, be it artillery, missiles, bullets or drones dropping shit at you.
Yeah, European armies rushing back to full cuts, even some SOF. I'm issued a Ops Core Fast and have seen some nasty photos from Ukraine where full cut helmets saved their wearer in a spot i'd be dead if hit. I never mounted the earpro to the rails anyways, i don't even need a high cut.
Has your leadership been alright with you running that scrim instead of an issued cover? I have a sinking feeling where Im going isn't going to let me change anything but straps and pads.
Great video man! I’m highly considering selling my whole bump helmet setup and picking up a mich helmet or saving a bit for a used fast cut ballistic. I also have regular neckband sordins that i can wear with and without helmet. Covert arms actually makes a comms kit that hooks into the reg sordins giving you a boom mic and nato plug for a much cheaper comms headset setup. you should check them out!
For the eyepro, I do like my dark lenses, I rock Oakley M-Frames with 3 lenses of dark, clear, and red tint prisms (much better than dark imo but leadership is anal on shit)
I think you're wrong. All the SOF setups translate to the line. IR from marking yourself to assets, lights for multiple uses, baseplate upgrades, counter weights help you neck, electronic ear pro is great and can be used with inner ones too.
Well you can see that I have counter weights, electronic ear pro, and an upgraded base plate. I personally have never needed or wanted to passively mark myself. The problem with IR is that Americans and nato aren’t the only ones who have good NVG’s anymore. We have to rethink how we are going to PID at night.
Everything but the strobe, sure. But two issues. 1) I'm not spending 4,000+ on that Gucci stuff if my unit isn't buying it for me. 2) IR strobe in 2023 is basically a giant neon sign that says "Drop a 155mm HE round on me!"
Could totally use cat eyes as PID. 1x1/4in glow strips can signify who you are. They don’t glow super bright, can be seen up close, but not too far away.
Want a good laugh at "Geardos" that have way too much shit on their helmets just so they can look like operators? Go find a larger city SWAT team. All that crap on their helmets to go serve an unpaid parking ticket warrant.
@@Vinnytwotime They literally buy as much "Tier 1" shit as possible and load themselves down with pouches and crap they will *never* use, and justify it with the "tHaT oNe hOlLyWoOd sHoOtOuT wHeRe tHe pAtTRoL oFfIcErS wErE oUtGuNnEd!" token response. 🙄

Completely agree with rocking clear lenses.

Yeah it’s ridiculous to me that there’s only one screw
One hole is better due to the more holes you put in the weaker the overall structure of the shell. No holes is best if possible.
Fuck it, red lock tight or rock set and never worry about it again. Until you have to turn it in and mangle the screw trying to undo it.

No thank you
I remember reading somewhere that the reason they have only 1 screw is putting extra holes in the kevlar can compromise its structural integrity
The baseplate is made of steel, if that part of the helmet takes a round the baseplate will do a lot to eat that impact.
Gotta get a predator ghillie on that thing man

I got the same sordins and kevlar as you do but seem to be having an issue with my kevlar not fitting when wearing the sordins, any thoughts?
Maybe a larger helmet, this one is a large

It’s a personal preference, this one is 12 oz, a pvs 14 is about 12-14 oz
