I come back to this video every now and again, and it feels ungodly depressing in the latter half of 2022. In a world post Scalebound cancellation, Babylon's Fall closing less than a year after release, and Bayonetta 3's pre-release hell and controversy over the terrible ending, it hits differently in the worst possible way.
They said that Scalebound was going to be much more casual in comparison to something like Devil May Cry. Easier games are okay, but it's not my cup of tea.
What's going on with Platinum? Well, just from the description, i don't need to watch the video and can answer it. The A teams, with Kamiya, are working on Scalebound and Nier, whilst their smaller teams are making licenced games that don't have their big directors on it guiding them, on a smaller budget. Doesn't take a genius to work it out.
Seriously, a company makes a couple below average licensed games and everyone is ready to condemn the whole works. Licensed games are rarely a showcase of a developer's best work or talent. Usually it's just something that they take, crank out something acceptable, then send it off so that they can keep their doors open and/or expand.
They have like 5 teams what are you talking about. MGSR and Transformers were done by the same team, Korra and TMNT were done by another, W101, and Scalebound are done by another, and I think Bayonetta 2's team (team little angels) is doing Nier Automata.
''They have like 5 teams what are you talking about.'' ? He didn't say Platinum only had two teams, he said ''all of those games were made by *a B team*.'' Them having a B team doesn't make it impossible for them to have more teams than just A and B.
3 words : Big Publisher Overlords. Activision and Nintendo are notorious when it comes to overseeing 3rd party projects outside their core banners. You can hear alot of complains from Beenox when it comes to Activision's pig headed decisions and cut throat deadlines and as for nintendo, just, Dinosaur planet story all over again, xcept with a flight simulator as the base this time. As said, platinum could simply stick to their guns and do their own, new Ips to take the time needed for the creative juice to boil like past titles. Yet there's this odd feeling that even since they got some very cool and acclaimed titles out in the last few years, other publishers would like to get the PG spice in their idea/ips yet do not know how to properly mix it in. Whether its giving them enough time to get a solid concept or simply slapping on their IP to any prototypes in the oven, i guess they just dont get "it" yet. Either way, at least we can see that PG is far from reaching Rocksteady levels of concept rehashing nor have they drank the casual sauce bottle which Santa Monica studio is pouring on God of War 4. Still, we'll keep a close watch.
Too true, wouldnt want them to cut ties with Nintendo, since they have had more luck with them then Sega's past debauchery and lack luster release timing. I guess a dream scenario could be Bethesda or Blizzard taking them under their wings with the motto " Its done when its done".
The main reason why TF Devastation, Legend of Korra, and TMNT were so lackluster was because of the short develop window Activision gave Platinum. Considering that they managed to make decent games in such a limited amount of time is impressive in itself.
I really wanted to get TF devastation but I hear so much mixed stuff some say it’s a hidden gem others say it’s bad. I’ve only played a few games made by platinum Nier automata which is amazing and I played the demo for Bayonetta back when it came out and it was really fun I just never ended up getting the game yet. I also played Okami which I heard was made by the same people and honestly it’s one of my favorite games. In your opposite which platinum game should I get next I’m thinking about Astral Chain for my switch or should I start with Bayonetta on switch or wonderful 101 which people say is also mixed good and bad. I’m so confused on what to get. I love action games I grew up on ninja gaiden and devil may cry I also played platinum games metal gear solid game which is great but not my favorite
@@graymatter9431 Hard to say really. You mentioned that you liked Okami which is probably most similar to Wonderful 101 honestly with the wonderliner being similar to the celestial brush (Matthewmatosis has a pretty good review of it). Bayonetta is a more straightforward action game with excellent combat, just keep in mind that the first game has a lot of annoying BS such as two exceedingly long Space Harrier sections and a particularly bad turret section, but when you’re away from those and just doing the combat it’s fantastic. Bayo 2 is better in that regard, but it also makes things a bit too easy with the Umbrian Climax technique, but it’s also excellent and that remix of “Moon River” is too good. Astral Chain feels like a mix of the more grounded Nier combat with the multitasking of Wonderful 101 and general combat stylings of Bayo. It’s definitely got the most variety of the three with open world detective work being mixed into the action. Sphere Hunter has a pretty good review of it if you want to check that out. If I had to pick an order, I’d say start with Bayo 1 & 2, then move on to Wonderful 101, then Astral Chain.
@@graymatter9431 Nice, I still have yet to finish it but am enjoying it so far. Check out Bayo and Wonderful 101 at some point though, I doubt you’ll be disappointed.
Platinum really didn't do a lot on Star Fox other than art assets and designing a few levels. Some of their suggestions were even totally shut down, such as involving Krystal since a lot of people had asked for it. They were straight up laughed at by Miyamoto's people for that one.
Because From reuses mechanics in the same franchise, which is expected. Sure, Bloodborne looks a lot like Dark Souls from the outside, but if you take the time to play both games, you will notice major differences.
Dark souls trilogy, demons souls, Bloodborne. Even the older games are kind of samey, if different from all they're doing currently. either way, demons souls, bloodborne, dark souls, same things. I enjoyed them immensely but they're all the same. the video talks about taking the most successful mechanics from a title and bolting them onto other IP's. that's exactly what they're doing.
you can have different games and still be reusing assets frequently. did i say ALL their games are the same? I don't see where I said that. did I say they're just as guilty of reusing assets and mechanics? yeah i said that.
And pretty much every other gaming site I visited at the time... most Finnish gaming magazines gave it 2 stars out of 5 and called it a boring mess and Devil May Cry wannabe. News flash: I actually enjoyed God Hand more than Devil May Cry 3... but don't tell that to the internet, someone might get offended by my personal opinion.
Serious Spike Sam as much as God hand isn't that bad of a game really, if you think it's better than dmc 3 you just have bad tastes in games man haha. The voice acting is wonky in god hand lots of the time and the animation isn't the best in the cutscenes, and it basically plays like the DMC games. Not to mention the music in devil may cry is fucking amazing. everything this game has, a devil may cry game has done better at some point. (Again not saying this game is shit, but it's nowhere near perfect) there's a reason most people don't like it.
Griffin Patrick The reason people may like it more than DMC3 is because its a parody of character action games. The story, voice acting, and settings aren't supposed to be coherent or good. The delivery of the story elements are intentionally bad to make fun of the over-the-top battles, story, and progression of most CA games. There's a niche of this kind of campy shit, so some people may like that rather than the more serious and edgy tone of DMC3. I've never played DMC3 though, so I'm not sure how the game plays/progresses/etc, but God Hand had pretty tight controls and a fun combat system so theres an argument made for both sides. His taste isn't bad, just different.
Platinum works kinda like Wayforward. They're mediocre when they have the obligation to work off other licenses, but shine when they do their own creative projects. That's not really new for any industry.
Maybe I'm just too optimistic, but even if a great developer puts out some mediocre or even bad games, I'm not one to give up on them. I think what really frustrates me the most though in recent years are those who have mental breakdowns when a company announces a game that they don't want, i.e Federation Force and Color Splash. Anyways, I don't think Platinum have gone sour, they've just made some poor choices.
Yeah I agree. It's not like Platinum Games went downhill anyways. I just think they took a few mis steps but when does a developer never take mis steps? Besides, I don't even think their licensed games look too bad. Sure, the TMNT one I don't know much of but the Transformers one and Korra games look cool to me. I'm even thinking of buying the Legend Of Korra game because I love the show a lot already and it's 15$ on Steam. (I can't complain really because it looks better than most licensed games in general and it's cheap. It may be no Bayonetta but I rather play it than most license games in general. And that could also be because I already love the show it's based off on.) I haven't Starfox Zero but I don't it's as bad as this UA-camr is making it out to be. Yeah, I get that it is kind of a re-hash of 64 but I think the control scheme is not as horrible as he's making it out to be. The Level design was made in mind with the new control scheme so it's not inherently bad just mis-understood. Also yeah, I agree. The way some people treated Color Splash and Federation Force waz handled poorly. I get that they were frustrated but making petitions to cancel those games is probably the most immature and stupid thing I have ever seen. It's like when some idiotic fanboy of Uncharted made a petition to take down a certain website because they didn't give Uncharted 4 a perfect score. They were both stupid, idiotic and irrational cases. If they really were bothered by Federation Force and Color Splash then don't support the games then. It's not hard guys all you have to do is vote with your wallet. I do like that you have optimism because in terms of the Gaming Community it's a rare trait among Gamers nowadays. Most tend to make it doom and gloom when a developer or publishers makes a few bad games or hell a few mistakes. I think that any company good or bad can recover from a bad mistake/game if they take the time to learn. It's why I still have some faith in SEGA with Sonic. They may have made a lot ot mistakes but they at least are learining starting with Sonic Mania.
The problem comes when these "mistakes" sell well. Thats when the dev realizes that all the effort he put into his past games really mean nothing for generating profit. :P
Yi Shai I guess you can argue that but really, I think some games like Legend Of Korra (in terms of their hate) IMO were blown way out of proportion. I don't even get what's so bad with that game. Sure, it's not the best of Platinum Games's work but it's a budget title.Of course it's not gonna be the best of their work. Honestly, after playing stuff like Revenge Of The Flying Dutchman & Jimmy Neutron (The Movie) game Legend Of Korra (The Game) compared to those is a god send IMO. I'm honestly confused why a lot of people don't like that game. My god, if they call that "awful" then IDK how they're gonna feel on games like the Jimmy Neutron (Movie) game. (Now that to me I consider awful because there's nothing redeeming about it.)
I don't know but this is what i don't like about this situation. In recent years platnium has given us some of the most badass games but the moment they mess up people are ready to walk out of the door and shut it in their face while still expecting to get another game. Seriously wtf kind of thinking is that.
GUADALUPE MOSQUEDA It's the same problem the Metroid and Paper Mario fanbase have. If there's something they don't like, they'll continuously slam the door in the developers faces without having even played the game. And they expect to get a new main game after that kind of behavior? When I become an indie developer, if I end up making a game that becomes popular and then maybe the sequel is a bit lackluster or not what they want, and my fans start acting like that, then there won't be another game in that series until they've learned to cool their jets.
Hey GamingBrit, this is a great video. Regarding the mechanics of Transformers: Devastation, PLatinum have actually done a lot of great things in this game. They have increased the number of ways you can enter the Witch Time equivalent, with this new system it is possible to "Chain" time dilation instances together. For example, the Vehicle Attack action counts as a dodge, and the time dilation activation window plays out even if you cancel out of the Vehicle Attack animation. Another great addition is the "Parry Offset". The Parry system of Transformers is much tighter and more difficult than the original Bayonetta, and it now can be used to offset combo chains in the same manner as you could with Bayonetta's dodge. The system mechanics of Transformers Devastation are truly an evolution of what was established in the original Bayonetta, but unfortunately the brilliance of this new system is not communicated. I believe this is Platinum's biggest problem, even when they do awesome stuff they don't directly tell anyone about it. Communication of these game systems cannot be left to reviewers, it's not their job.
Yeah ever since Wonderful 101 and MG Rising had basic combat maneuvers locked away in the in-game shop I've felt Platinum have been doing a poor job at outwardly communicating a lot of their mechanics. l recognise Devastation is the best of bunch in terms of of Platinum's licensed output and would be up for exploring it more. One thing that turned me off outside of the IP was probably all the stats stuff as well, felt it was pretty over emphasised in comparison to the features you're mentioning.
Yeah, all the loot drops and junk kind of bugged me about the game myself but for the most part it isn't too in your face about it so long as you just equip whatever is more powerful at the time (menu managements a pain in the butt though). Also, I think the shooting mechanics are probably one of my favorite things in the game to be honest, those added on with the vehicle transformations made this game feel like the bayonetta x vanquish mashup that I always wished for, shame you didn't like them that much.
I did a live stream with Star Fox Zero. Yeah, that ended real fast. My remaining thought was "I HATE YOU PLATINUM! So are getting Bayonetta 3 or what?"
I don't get I thou, I just finished Star Fox Zero last week & call me crazy but the controls felt perfectly fine to me. And I only JUST got a WiiU as well so I haven't really logged many hours into it so its not like I had practice or anything. I mean its a game for ages 10+, it SHOULD be playable by anybody really. =/ Not to try & brag or put down people but is the recalibration & aiming really that bad? I mean has anybody else played Kid Icarus Uprising (this is a good game thou), Skyward Sword or any other painful motion control games? Cause I gotta say I've played INFINITELY worse than this, I feel like I'm missing something here.. -_-
Speaking of kids, that reminds me a reason why we might be seeing those issues in those specific IPs (Korra, Transformers & TMNT which I haven't played yet) might be BECAUSE of the fact the games are being aimed towards younger audiences so they're simplifying the gameplay for less experienced players but trying to keep the more complex mechanics like parrying or dodging for older players? Just a theory on my part since keep in mind, Korra, TF & TMNT where all published by Activision & we all know by now that they tend to keep a close eye on stuff like that so I would say there MAY have been some Activision influence for those 3 specific games.
I feel bad that you paid full retail price for another remake of Star Fox 64 (especially when the best remake is still the 3ds version). Or hopefully you didn't pay that much for it because it isn't worth that price.
Henny Zhi eh, honestly? With the way 3DS games are, especially Nintendo ones it would have come up to the same really save like 5-10 bucks TOPS. Its not that big of a deal since I would have gotten both either way. But the fact you say that still bugs, I just don't see how abysmal it is. Even if it is just a regular remake. I don't have a functioning N64 to play my ol' copy on, and I REALLY like star fox. I mean we're talking about a StarFox game that ACTUALLY has you in a proper ship, with a proper mission & path set up... and not on frickn dinosaur planet w/that little bastard tricky screaming in your ear "I'M HUNGRY! WAAAA!" Or even StarFox Command which was..well subpar at best.
Yeah, all those games published by Activision have been unpolished and rushed messes, this partnership is probably the worst move that the company has made so far. They should take their time polishing their titles and creating games that add something unique to the genre they belong to instead of these cheap and generic licensed titles.
Exactly what I was going to comment. You could feel TMNT had to include some features because of a executive mandate (co-op, ai turtles on screen at all times). I really don't think licensed games are a good fit for them if they have to follow such strict guidelines. All their greatest games have had a unique vision that they were obviously very passionate about and had enough time to develop.
Their partnership with Activision is in order to pay the bills and keep the company running. They can't take their time because Activision doesn't give them that, and Activision doesn't care.
Idk why this showed up in my recommended videos, but this was the 1st vid I've seen by you & I've got to say I'm impressed. It kept my interest and just when I thought you were going on too long about something you reassured me you wouldn't be much longer, lol. Great job
Yo, i found this video on my feed at 2019, and tought "wtf is this guy talking about" ? Then i found out the date of the video XD. Babylon s fall looking great
What matters is how Babylon's Fall turns out... It doesn't look so good recently and it is due to come out in just over a month (3/3/2022). Hope it isn't too bad when I try it but World of Demons is more tempting.
PlatinumGames: one of the best gaming developers of all time that's because of their creativity... AND for the best game of all time *God Hand* I hope they get back to Clover Studios style and make God Hand 2!!
It hurts each time to realize it, but I agree with you. PlatinumGames is a good developer, but their creativity isn't in demand, it's the name big publishers want. Because they know of Platinum's rather positive reputation, they hire them for projects, but none of the licensed games have that creative spark. I can only guess about that, but it's probably a mix of publishers wanting a "safe bet" and not allowing much experimentation, and Platinum also needing the money to fund their own projects. After all, Bayonetta 2 was their last original game.
Just make Vanquish 2 already. Vanquish was fucking awesome and i want more, they left a cliffhanger in the end anyways so its not hard to pick up the story. This game would make them a TON of money.
You mean that game that is universally acclaimed, but sold poorly due to Wii-U exclusivity; and a much-belated release on PC which still had generally Meh sales? Okay lol
TMNT was the ony realy bad out out of this games to be honest. Kora was pretty decent for what it is. They had werry low budget, and half a year development time.(It could have been waaaaay worse) Transformers was pretty good to be honest. Garneted they fifted the core combat from Bayo but they also tryed out new things like RPG like loot system + 4 playoble character is always neet. Star Fox Zero 's big problem were the controlls and it's pretty much confirmed that Miyamoto basicly forced them in the game disregarding what others said. And it only had couch multyplayer(like in 19990....) And TMNT.... WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!?!?!?
+ki ke - My UA-cam name is racial slur so edgy XXXXDD - I'm just going to insult their opinions with an edgy swear word your trolling would work better if you stoped trying so hard
Idk about you guys but Transformers was pretty fucking stellar. Was it perfect? No. But it was fun as fucking hell and there was still lots to be discovered beyond what the game tells you. Its surely much better than Korra and TMNT thanks to the staff working on it. I feel a lot of you need to give it another chance, or check out Saurian Dash's channel to find out more about that amazing game. Plus youtube is just a sucky place to talk about this genre of games.
ThePainTrain I honestly could care less about environments in an action game, all they need to do for me is not restrict the action, which they managed to achieve. What's a good game without good core mechanics?
100% correct. But most people see a slowmo dodge (like the guy who made this video) and look no further before labelling it a Bayo clone. No one is going to look up Saur's channel and watch his awesome system guide, because that would require backpedalling after publicly judging the game as something it isn't. Not good for the internet ego. I get the same thing with Chaos Legion often.
I really can't see a reason to panic. I mean, what's the biggest problem of Star Fox? The controls and the fact that it's a remake. And why did those happen? Because that's what Nintendo wanted. And I honestly think it's a good game. Like, I had fun. And every game made for Activision has the problem of every game made for Activision that is not a CoD or Destiny. Like, it came out half a year after Devastation and just SOMEHOW a week before the second TMNT Bay movie. I wonder why did that happen? It's almost as if Activision told them to make a game in six months so that they can get a quick cash-in from the movie, like, you know, what Activision has been doing for years? Like, I'm gonna panic when Bayo 3 comes out and it sucks. I can't really blame them for doing what they are being told from the people who pay them money to stay alive.
Well than, I dunno, sorry for having fun with it?nd you're also super wrong about basically everything. Literally everyone I know who played 64 and Zero was talking about new bosses and the soundtrack has been completely remade. And it's a short game, just like 64 and every other Platinum game in history, because it's built for multiple playthrough. Like, all those alternate paths and bosses. And Zero is a remake because Nintendo wanted it. What would you want Platinum to do? Pull a Gearbox and lie to their publisher? They were told to make a remake, they made a remake, simple as that.
Dude, I literally said that Nitendo told Platinum to do a thing and Platinum did a thing. Like, wheter or not what Nintendo told them was right is not even the point. The point is that you can't blame Platinum for doing what they are being told to do. That's how they get money to actually function. And BTW, SFZ is not two hours long, it's four. And four still isn't a lot (tho I'm not quite sure if making a shmup longer is actually a good idea), but it's literally twice the lenght you're throwing here.
I think people have a tendency to reach at straws when they start complaining about star fox being remade again. Its such fallible argument.. the last star fox game was 10 years ago like are you kidding me? Before there was zero people literally was complaining about there not being a star fox game. Matter of fact I've literally seen people say "come on nintendo just give me the 64 star fox in hd" and now people are complaining about it? It doesnt make sense especially considering that when you say its just another star fox 64. There is so much wrong with that statement. 1. Nintendo push the story forward quite a few times. star fox command, adventures and assault are all games that push the story. Command isnt even a a remake like most people like putting it. It a completely different story. The only reason people say it is... is cause it uses the same classics system. A system put into place cause people literally bitch any change in the series takes. 2. How can you complain about a game that plays like star fox 64 when star fox 64 is consider the BEST GAME IN THE SERIES! Would you complain about dmc 5 playing like dmc 3? Of course not. What I think nintendo needs to do is what every the hell they want to do with the series at this point cause the fans are just going to find a new excuse to complain about.
'On a side-note, Starfox on Snes is actually the best in the series.' I assume sarcasm Because this game runs at like 5-15 frames per second Makes me wanna gouge my eyes out
+omgazr0 The 3DS comment is also a good joke, when will people understand that you don't put handhelds in the same category as normal consoles and PC. *sigh*
While controls aren't the core of depth they still can add a lot. Fighting games would be a prime example, having to learn to pull off a special move consistently and under pressure many times in sequence is a big part of what makes the games. You take that away without adding more to focus stuff on like more movement options or enemies, and they suddenly become a lot simpler. Especially if the game has touch of death combos that under normal circumstances would take a lot of dedication to master. It also effects the strength, timing and just general properties of the move. An SPD that doesn't need a 360 will be weaker, not have as good of priority and less range because you are not having to pull of a large motion that will leave you open if messed up. You also see in games that try to lose these inputs stuff like cooldown on moves which means your tools are more limited because they are easier to use. Though to pull this off fighting games need good and accurate controls, if you needed a button to recenter your stick then the game would be busted.
zato/eddie from guilty gear is pretty much a perfect example of how that shit can work in fighting games lmao accurate inputs for using the shadow in tandem with yourself, knowing the priority system so you get the right moves at the right time, covering each other and even cool down times for when the shadow gets hit.
RyuGoomba Notice the caveat " in tandem with yourself." This applies to what I said when "without adding more to focus stuff like." By having to control eddie while doing other stuff that balance is still in play, you set him with a qcf but then work together so make it a little easier for you Plus puppet characters are a very specific type of character. You can't really say well it works for the 5 eddie moves (ignoring all the other moves Zato has) so make everyone like that.
you're adding a second element to your pressure and gameplay, one that isn't independent and is based on your movement and control so that literally adds complexity to how you control the character. not to mention, without eddie, zato's pressure and options are severely dropped. can't do 3 to 5 blockstring fuzzy mix ups anymore unless you got eddie on board. of course it wouldn't work with other characters that aren't designed like that and it's a way of him that archetype unique.
RyuGoomba I can't tell if you think I am disagreeing, cause I'm not seeing as he fits into the initial caveat stated in that you have another element to work with now so complexity is not lost. It doesn't contradict my op, especially cause as I think you agree he is a specific archetype
Platinum always kinda reminded me of Treasure. They are both heavily Japanese companies, that makes fresh and diverse games. The only thing is Treasure has never made a bad game to my knowledge.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if Nintendo brought back the on-foot gameplay of Star Fox Assault. It wasn't as good as the Arwing gameplay, by far, but it was perfectly playable and didn't feel awkward to control in my opinion. Granted, I wouldn't want an ENTIRE game like this, because Star Fox Adventures already did that (which was an alright game at best), but it is a gameplay style I feel fits the character of Fox and could be relatively enjoyable with tightened controls & new bells & whistles
One of my favorite things of assault was the on foot play actually. It was actually surprisingly well polished and added a new layer of arcadey fun to the entire game itself. My only issue with assault was the clunky transition from sky to air, and I honestly felt that could have been fixed by just giving fox a "call arwing" function.
More like Activision not giving them enough time and budget to make a decent game, it's not the first time Activision fucks developers up the ass in licensed games.
Me too, actually with another story and optional controls nobody would complain, but as many people said NIntendo was responsible for those two because they need to use the tablet and it was a reboot for the very beggining. Thats why i think that PG maybe dosent have too much fault.
one thing nobody mentions is the fact that you can in fact change the aiming controls, you can have it be more like the traditional starfox's, but everytime you press the fire button it would be free aim, which i liked alot buuuuut nobody talks about it for whatever reason
I hated it at first. I finished the campain because i paid for it and left it for 1 month. I decided to regive it a chance and... The controls feel real good.
if the pad had an HD screen maybe a lot wouldn't be complaining All these people bitching about the controls because they use them with their brain locked up in the past. It's like trying to get a Dpad feel out of an analog stick. The controls are great. I love how you get in enemy spaceships and assault 'em from the inside in chicken mode. The only thing I could've done without is the gyrocopter. Not that it wasn't fun, but it stops the game's pacing. When I revisited the same level in an arwing I had a blast
7:35 Why do people think 60FPS is mandatory? I can’t tell the difference personally, aside from rhythm and some fighting games I’m fine with 30FPS as long as it stays at 30. If the frame rate dips I understand the complaint but otherwise it seems like nitpicking
Because it basically was on 6 gen, ok maybe not mandatory, but there were a lot more games that ran 60 on those consoles in comparison to now. That's Only because they want more intense graphics, which in my opinion is less important.
bigevilworldwide1 Bayonetta sold decent enough to keep Platinum alive when there other first batch of games like mad world flopped, which is why Bayonetta basically became a mascot for Platinum. Bayonetta 2 didn't sell great but remember it was a critical darling with a cult audience and sold decent for a console exclusive for a console 5 people owned and maybe 20 people knew about lol.
@bigevil Bayonetta’s meme status is increasing every day and after nier:automata all eyes are on platinum. Also, it’s said to be their most ambitious game yet
Only cringy weebs like you are what makes those games have psuedo-popularity all you people do is constantly talk about childish sexual things about the main characters and thats it, you people never actually focus on the game itself. Bayo 1 was terrible, bayo 2 fixed some issues with 1 but still I found myself more of a fan of DMC even after playing and Weeb:Automata didnt even have amazing combat it was average at best so dont know why people keep sucking Platinum's dick about that.
I thought I'm the only one who heard that Future-Punk song while TheGamingBritShow narrate about TMNT:Trouble in Manhattan. But, yes it is. I don't know the one when he narrates about TMNT:Trouble in Manhattan.
+Potidaon While it is true that videogame studios fire and hire all the time (not as common in Japan, but Japan considers firing someone equal to telling them to commit seppuku, so theres a difference). All studios try and retain certain higher up guys, and while they wont always leave them on staff. (Because their style or views would be unfitting for your current project) They often grab the same people. If every studio had completely different entire staffs between every single game, you would never see a single bit of consistency in any studio out there.
Rainbow Dashtruction You misunderstood. They were still Platinum employees, but each project had different people on each team. Take directors for instance: Revengeance was Saito, W101 was Kamiya, Korra was Shirahama, Bayonetta 2 was Hashimoto, Transformers was Saito, Star Fox was Hashimoto, TMNT was Shirahama, Nier is Yoko Taro, Scalebound is Kamiya. Additionally, the planners, programmers, artists, animators, etc., were mostly different from project to project. They didn't leave Platinum, but they didn't all work on the same game even if a game had the same director. Very few games have the exact same people working on every game. Compare the credits of a game in a series. You will see a lot of overlap, especially on smaller projects and semi-sequels like Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3, and even more so in smaller companies. But there's nearly always a different make up.
Potidaon Lower level guys get fired on a regular basis, even in Japan although not even close to the same degree as the west. They can be swapped around at will most the time tho.
To be fair, a lot of the Activision published Platinum titles have the excuse of just being low budget cash ins, and Star Fox 0 is still made under Miyamoto who can fuck up games now.
PlatinumGames is doing the best with the money and development time they get from the particular pubilshers. It's that easy. The Legend of Korra wasn't as good as other PlatinumGames titles because Activision wanted to push the title out of the door as fast as they can just to make some money off of PlatinumGames' good status when it comes to fast paced action titles. I don't think your video was made to blame PlatinumGames at all, at least if I got you right. But specially for the Korra case, Activision should be taken to task, not PlatinumGames.
The argument in this video is a flawed one. Here's what's going on with Platinum. Their games, while great, never sell. So in order to keep themselves in business they need to make deals with certain publishers. When Platinum first started they had a deal with Sega, now they have a deal with Activision. Anyone can see Korra, Transformers and TMNT were not meant to be the same experience as MGR, Bayonetta or Vanquish. They are low budget licence games. Anyone going into TMNT expecting Bayonetta quality was asking for disappointment. This is also a good time to get familiar with the names of the people directing these games because it could be very helpful. Remember how you said Transformers despite it's faults was still a pretty solid game unlike Korra and TMNT? Well it was directed by Kenji Saito, the director of Revengeance. TMNT and Korra was directed by Eiro Shirahama who did...TMNT and Korra. It's their B-team, given a shoestring budget to make a quick licence game right before the new season of Korra or the new TMNT movie comes out. Star Fox Zero is all Miyamoto's baby, sure Platinum may of been involved with the development, but it was all done under the watchful eye of Miyamoto. But let's say for the argument of this video that the failure of Star Fox Zero was the fault of Platinum. So what? Platinum has ALWAYS been inconsistent. While people praise Bayonetta 1, 2 and MGR, most people find MadWorld, Infinite Space and Anarchy Reigns (game which I love personally) mediocre, which were made at the same time. Did people make video about "WHAT is GOING ON at PLATINUM GAMES"? No. Hell even The Wonderful 101 is a divided game critically and people love that game. Platinum has always been inconsistent because that's how they stay around. They need to do these smaller budget titles so they can afford to do their bigger games. You want more Bayonetta, MRG and The Wonderful 101? You're gonna have to put up with Star Fox Zero, TMNT and Koraa because that's the only way you're getting them. Now if Nier Automata and Scalebound come out and their disappointing then we can panic. But until then choosing to focus on their quick budget games to deduce where of not Platinum has lost it's luster is a waste of time. Just like this essay of a comment. Oh well.
This, so much. Especially with games like Madworld and Anarchy, which had cool concepts but were pretty repetitive and didn't have the same polish as something like Bayo.
Your take on Star Fox Zero is absolutely spot on. Seriously, my favorite words spoken about the game on the internet because you basically summed up my exact thoughts on the game. As a longtime Star Fox fan, and as someone who actually waited 10 years for a new entry in the series, it frustrated me to see Star Fox Zero go from my most anticipated game to probably the most poorly executed Nintendo game... maybe ever. It's a shame because I think Star Fox has a LOT of wasted potential. Hopefully someday we'll get some kind of redemption for the series.
I don't care about any of these games or any of these genres, but your take on the situation and your presentation style made the video very comprehensible and enjoyable. Keep up the good work! We need more critical yet fair people talking about issues in gaming.
Jana Höning Music I was hyped for the game that I pre-ordered the game that along with star fox guard and when I got the game I really enjoyed it. Gameplay was fun, graphics were good, and it was enemies and bosses (mainly Andross for me at least) who were difficult which it made fun. I was great game
It's pretty obvious what's going on platinum's big Teams are working big high budget games like nier for example while the smaller b teams make games like TMNT and korra and even then the only bad one was TMNT I had a blast with transformers devastation
Did he just show a clip of MGSV and not talk shit about it?! Lord help me something awful must've happened to Charlie to get him to fall off track like that. His voice inflection has also changed slightly... SOMETHINGS UP
I actually really liked Devastation. It was short, but for what it was, it was great. Very respectful to the license, solid use of sounds and gameplay mechanics and a fair amount of replayability, and considering it was a budget title, it's hard to say it is bad. Transformers Devastation is good for what it is.
Metal Gear Rising Revengence is still a kick-ass game. Raiden got to star in the game he deserved, my only complaint is that the story mode could have been longer, but other than that it was awesome. Scalebound looks pretty cool, too bad its an X1 exclusive.
I dont really see the issue in the controls for zero, much of it was as much of a learning curve as Splatoon's gyroscopic shooting, and eventually I got ahold of it. Now I can blast away anything within the screen's line of sight
+Mohamed Alnás (ShoX) I'm sure Shinji Mikami would like to but it's probably never going to happen. At best we could get a new beat em up similar to Godhand.
I wanna love Starfox Zero... but it's cumbersome controls just deviate me from playing it ever again. At least it was a birthday gift and not spent with my money. Also what is the music used in around 8:00 and later?
I feel like all 4 games mentioned are just games that Platinum has made for third parties to put some money into the bank. I mean I love Platinum, but their games are hella niche, they aren't raking in loads of money and we have to remember that devs need to eat too. Its shitty but honestly can forgive these crappy games designed for a certain playerbase so long as their main IPs maintain the quality we've come to expect.
IT's not just the flimsy licensed games either. MGR has a mountain of problems that it just barely overcomes, and Bayonetta 2 allegedly goes completely AGAINST the possibility of high-level play with enemies that break combos and can't be relaunched populating much of the enemy roster.
My first introduction into Platinum was Revengeance. Needless to say. Best birthday gift I've ever fucking gotten. Lol I enjoyed Korra too, but it was definitely crazy short.
I'm curious if the publisher activision had any hand in the quality of the licensed work as they published all the titles that haven't been up to the platinum standards perhaps activision rushed development or limited the budget not allowing platty to put as much quality or effort in as their usual titles just food for thought
Platinum has done some great work but I honestly find their games boring and mindless. Bayonetta was the first one that made me yawn with it's trope bosses and level jumping that had no meaning or sense. One minute I'm in a medieval castle city, the next I'm running on space rubble on a temple in the middle of space, then I'm running up a metropolitan building (VERTICALLY) to fight a boss that I had no idea why he wanted to kill me, nor I him. They just like their graphical set-pieces and have no idea how to do narrative or storytelling, two things that require a bit of brains and not just a top notch graphical team. They are the videogame equivalent to Transformers, all shine and no substance.
"videogame equivalent to Transformers, all shine and no substance" A bit of an unfair statement to make, there, considering a bit of in-depth look would prove it wrong. You must have only seen either the old cartoon or the Michael Bay movies - which, trust me, are NOT the best examples of Transformers being the juggernaut of a franchise that it is.
Kaiser68 Whoa, no need to be so hostile. Jesus, who pissed in your cereal this morning? I'm just pointing out that your comparison was kind of flawed. As for Platinum sucking, well... I agree with your points, but disagree with the company sucking. I do respect your opinion, though. Not that I SHOULD, since you're being a dick, but...
You're comparing apples to oranges in this complaint. You're expecting Japan to understand social reasoning and understanding relatable to the US and EU? Very few Japanese story-based games get romance right! Just to be a cynic, the amount of apathy and how awful their adult female main characters tend to be that aren't either sex objects(male gaze archetype)and/or emotionless waifus with personalities as interesting as cardboard just to name a couple of recycled archetypes. Japan is a nation that doesn't embrace socializing; full of self-reserved people and salarymen with repressed childhoods, and a flourishing market toward those who are afraid of people. So expecting characters to properly interact with each other instead of relying on anime archetypes/overused tropes is a long shot. Platinum Games is praised for how they handle gameplay. Responsive controls, combat that feels satisfying, over-the-top fights, etc. Story and good dialogue be damned, they are a Japanese company. Mind you, I'm not disagreeing with you, I love good storytelling, good characterization and interactions, but I don't overlook how PG got its reputation.
I understand those who didn't like them, and the game left a bittersweet feeling to me... but oh well, at this point this is the best we can get, it's a niche franchise and a niche genre
Why the fuck would you appreciate him when he made Drakengard 3? It is the worst game to ever get made, period. How you can do that to such a amazing franchise is beyond me.
Kanny Boy It wasn't THAT bad, the framerate issues were a real problem for sure, but Drakengard was never good for it's gameplay but rather for it's story. And I think Drakengards humour, 4th wall breaks and overall story was really great. I enjoyed it a lot.
Kanny Boy well, I can unterstand the comedy aspect turned off a lot of people. I found it to be alright, but I'm not the biggest fan of the previous titles so maybe that's why it didn't bother me
Drakengard was a incredibly serious dark and twisted fantasy saga, it was a one of a kind and still today is. Drakengard 3 pissed over everything the series was to be your average crude softcore porn garbage anime. Taro is a piece of shit for it. It's not different then turning Silent Hill into a comedy.

And then there's a possibility of another sequel of Bayonetta 3. So I think there's no end for this franchise.
Would you agree that if Babylon’s Fall was a better game, it wouldn’t have effected the development of Bayonetta 3?
I think we need to ask this question again.

This
Seriously, a company makes a couple below average licensed games and everyone is ready to condemn the whole works.
Licensed games are rarely a showcase of a developer's best work or talent. Usually it's just something that they take, crank out something acceptable, then send it off so that they can keep their doors open and/or expand.
They are also using games like Transformers and TMNT to help with scale bound and nier that's why I think devastation had had that weapon synthesis.
But hey, gotta get that YT money and tell idiots what to think with an unnecesarely lengthy video.
But hey, gotta be bitchy smartasses & act like somebody's forcing their opinion on you.
The framerate in that Scalebound footage makes my eyes bleed.
That was from the presentation at E3 2015 I think, the gameplay footage from E3 2016 is much better in terms of framerate
+MrEinFan Although it's still at 30 it seems.
Yes it was way better this year E3
As Ein said, that was from E3 2015, and it was pre-alpha. The footage from 2016 (which Brit didn't show) is better.

Platinum B team, all of those games were made by a B team, its not the same team behind Bayonetta, Vanquish and MGS Rising
Transformers had the same director as MGR, though.
+evilashxero and maybe thats why the game is pretty good, i cant say the same for korra and the new Tmnt game
True. But the budget holds it back.
They have like 5 teams what are you talking about.
MGSR and Transformers were done by the same team, Korra and TMNT were done by another, W101, and Scalebound are done by another, and I think Bayonetta 2's team (team little angels) is doing Nier Automata.
''They have like 5 teams what are you talking about.''
? He didn't say Platinum only had two teams, he said ''all of those games were made by *a B team*.'' Them having a B team doesn't make it impossible for them to have more teams than just A and B.
3 words :
Big Publisher Overlords.
Aaaaaand Great vid btw.
To the point, solid points, good discussion topic.
Too true, wouldnt want them to cut ties with Nintendo, since they have had more luck with them then Sega's past debauchery and lack luster release timing.
I guess a dream scenario could be Bethesda or Blizzard taking them under their wings with the motto " Its done when its done".

I kind of don't want them to go under Bethesda either, IMO. with the way they released fallout 4 which to me anyways, half assed.
@@josephabrams8529 I just beat Astral Chain and it’s one of my favorite games it’s so amazing

Making games hi-res and high frame rate, is reducing the time publishers have to build actual game play.
Platinum really didn't do a lot on Star Fox other than art assets and designing a few levels. Some of their suggestions were even totally shut down, such as involving Krystal since a lot of people had asked for it. They were straight up laughed at by Miyamoto's people for that one.
Why would people ask for Krystal back?
Carlos Ramos I don't understand that either!
these are rather empty assertions unless you can provide some evidence forbthem.

i can never understand how people hate when studios make their games so similar and reuse mechanics, but then go and praise FromSoft
Because From reuses mechanics in the same franchise, which is expected. Sure, Bloodborne looks a lot like Dark Souls from the outside, but if you take the time to play both games, you will notice major differences.
MrTrollaid played both extensively. Same damn game with 1 different mechanic (regen) and a couple modified ones
***** this refutes my point, how, exactly?
this aged well
Nier:Automata was worth it.
Ah, God Hand music in the background. The game may have "sucked" in public mind but I still enjoyed it hell of a lot.
Only IGN said it was bad.
I love God Hand too, you can spank enemies' ass and send them flying, and create your own fighting move, aahh those memories
Well said
Look at marvel vs capcom infinate, marvel was basically a big cuck when it comes to what they let capcom do
what about mgr though?
And that could also be because I already love the show it's based off on.)
I haven't Starfox Zero but I don't it's as bad as this UA-camr is making it out to be.
GUADALUPE MOSQUEDA
It's the same problem the Metroid and Paper Mario fanbase have.

We should try live streaming again sometime Storm, man.
Not to try & brag or put down people but is the recalibration & aiming really that bad?
They can't take their time because Activision doesn't give them that, and Activision doesn't care.
blubb ... Seriously? Everybody knows how shitty Activision is.
Idk why this showed up in my recommended videos, but this was the 1st vid I've seen by you & I've got to say I'm impressed. It kept my interest and just when I thought you were going on too long about something you reassured me you wouldn't be much longer, lol. Great job
Samething here, his thoughts on star fox zero felt far too long for the subject matter on the title. Gotta polish it up more.
Yo, i found this video on my feed at 2019, and tought "wtf is this guy talking about" ? Then i found out the date of the video XD. Babylon s fall looking great
Now platinum is really killing it!
It’s been 3 years and we still don’t know when it’s coming out and it’s also still listed for ps4
What matters is how Babylon's Fall turns out... It doesn't look so good recently and it is due to come out in just over a month (3/3/2022).
Hope it isn't too bad when I try it but World of Demons is more tempting.
This aged badly...
@@m.z6610 yes... yes it did.
Not looking out for this tittle anymore.
What a letdown
And then Automata happened.
That's what I was gonna say lol.
And that's what got me into platinum and these sorta action games in general lol
And then Astral Chain happened
PlatinumGames: one of the best gaming developers of all time that's because of their creativity...
AND for the best game of all time *God Hand*
I hope they get back to Clover Studios style and make God Hand 2!!
Capcom owns the rights to GodHand
You pretty much overlooked Bayonetta 2 in order to support an argument that they're on shaky ground
You mean that game that is universally acclaimed, but sold poorly due to Wii-U exclusivity; and a much-belated release on PC which still had generally Meh sales?
Okay lol
Pent I believe that was a voucher code to redeem bayonetta not a physical version or inclusion of the game on one storage space
@Pent what, no bayonetta 2 for ps3? Didn't know it was exclusive to wii u
Huh?
nintendo now partially holds the rights to bayo, so dont expect to ever have a bayo release on a non-nintendo platform
TMNT was the ony realy bad out out of this games to be honest.
Kora was pretty decent for what it is. They had werry low budget, and half a year development time.(It could have been waaaaay worse)
Transformers was pretty good to be honest.
And it only had couch multyplayer(like in 19990....)
And TMNT.... WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!?!?!?
They were all shit mang, sorry to bring it to you.

Transformers Devastation was actually really fun.
It's a very good game.
needed more time and a higher budget honestly
not being able to play as the decepticons is a huge kick in the nuts
'On a side-note, Starfox on Snes is actually the best in the series.'
I assume sarcasm
Because this game runs at like 5-15 frames per second
Makes me wanna gouge my eyes out
+omgazr0 The 3DS comment is also a good joke, when will people understand that you don't put handhelds in the same category as normal consoles and PC. *sigh*
i like how the only reason we're having this conversation is that platinum is so amazing that them just making something *okay* is a Big Deal
Does anybody know the song at 2:20?
Wish the song titles were included in the description :/
still waiting on the song name 2 years later
Though to pull this off fighting games need good and accurate controls, if you needed a button to recenter your stick then the game would be busted.
zato/eddie from guilty gear is pretty much a perfect example of how that shit can work in fighting games lmao
accurate inputs for using the shadow in tandem with yourself, knowing the priority system so you get the right moves at the right time, covering each other and even cool down times for when the shadow gets hit.
RyuGoomba Notice the caveat " in tandem with yourself." This applies to what I said when "without adding more to focus stuff like." By having to control eddie while doing other stuff that balance is still in play, you set him with a qcf but then work together so make it a little easier for you
Plus puppet characters are a very specific type of character.
It doesn't contradict my op, especially cause as I think you agree he is a specific archetype
blimblethings i thought you were disagreeing with me on the first statement whoops
"PREPARE TO BE LOST IN SPACE, AUTOBOT"
"your memes end here"
“Fake anime” legend of Korra. Nice bro
Platinum always kinda reminded me of Treasure. They are both heavily Japanese companies, that makes fresh and diverse games. The only thing is Treasure has never made a bad game to my knowledge.
Wait but why Christmas
Assault fanboys are annoying
You'd think they'd have learned after Korra, but TNMT happened. Seems like they may be stretching themselves too thin.
Platinum should stop making licensed games
More like Activision not giving them enough time and budget to make a decent game, it's not the first time Activision fucks developers up the ass in licensed games.
+Arksel Hige seriously. I wonder if they are given less than a year for each project. it's sad really.
They did. Transformers came out between the two.
I actually really liked starfox zero though :(
Me too, actually with another story and optional controls nobody would complain, but as many people said NIntendo was responsible for those two because they need to use the tablet and it was a reboot for the very beggining. Thats why i think that PG maybe dosent have too much fault.
one thing nobody mentions is the fact that you can in fact change the aiming controls, you can have it be more like the traditional starfox's, but everytime you press the fire button it would be free aim, which i liked alot
buuuuut nobody talks about it for whatever reason
I actually love the game and think the controls are super run
I hated it at first. I finished the campain because i paid for it and left it for 1 month. I decided to regive it a chance and... The controls feel real good.
if the pad had an HD screen maybe a lot wouldn't be complaining
All these people bitching about the controls because they use them with their brain locked up in the past.
Their licensed games pay the bills. Being a timetraveler seeing the anticipation of Scalebound is kinda funny
i was loving this video so far and then the remix of night tempo starts and ohh man...you got a subscriber for a life
Whats that music thats playing in the background towards the end?

7:35 Why do people think 60FPS is mandatory? I can’t tell the difference personally, aside from rhythm and some fighting games I’m fine with 30FPS as long as it stays at 30. If the frame rate dips I understand the complaint but otherwise it seems like nitpicking
Because it basically was on 6 gen, ok maybe not mandatory, but there were a lot more games that ran 60 on those consoles in comparison to now. That's Only because they want more intense graphics, which in my opinion is less important.
Bayonetta 3 will save re-establish Platnium while NieR Autamata (my
bigevilworldwide1
Bayonetta sold decent enough to keep Platinum alive when there other first batch of games like mad world flopped, which is why Bayonetta basically became a mascot for Platinum. Bayonetta 2 didn't sell great but remember it was a critical darling with a cult audience and sold decent for a console exclusive for a console 5 people owned and maybe 20 people knew about lol.
@bigevil
Bayonetta’s meme status is increasing every day and after nier:automata all eyes are on platinum.
I desperately need a Vanquished 2.
Watching this for the first time in 2020. Astral Chain, Nier Automata. Platinum is killing it.
I wish Japan’s view on trans and queer people didn’t effect the development of Bayonetta 3
@@uria3679 I haven't played Bayonetta 3 yet. How did it effect it?
Is that "Tanuki- Baby Baby" I hear toward the end there?
I thought I'm the only one who heard that Future-Punk song while TheGamingBritShow narrate about TMNT:Trouble in Manhattan.
But, yes it is. I don't know the one when he narrates about TMNT:Trouble in Manhattan.
It's called a B-Team.
There's no B-team. Every game had different directors and mostly different staff members.
What's the song that starts playing at around 7:40? Right before TANUKI - Baby Baby.
To be fair, a lot of the Activision published Platinum titles have the excuse of just being low budget cash ins, and Star Fox 0 is still made under Miyamoto who can fuck up games now.
'Scalebound'
Well that turned out well...
Is that Tanuki - BABYBABY playing in the background at around the 10:30 minute mark.
Fan of Artzie music eh Charlie?
Oh well.
Fuck you, Zero is great.
This, so much. Especially with games like Madworld and Anarchy, which had cool concepts but were pretty repetitive and didn't have the same polish as something like Bayo.
Scalebound will be a disappointment, nier won't. calling it
+lusteraliaszero So you're half right so far
RiP ScaleBound
Your take on Star Fox Zero is absolutely spot on. Seriously, my favorite words spoken about the game on the internet because you basically summed up my exact thoughts on the game. As a longtime Star Fox fan, and as someone who actually waited 10 years for a new entry in the series, it frustrated me to see Star Fox Zero go from my most anticipated game to probably the most poorly executed Nintendo game... maybe ever. It's a shame because I think Star Fox has a LOT of wasted potential. Hopefully someday we'll get some kind of redemption for the series.
His criticism is dumb because that means light gun games are bad because you have to physically move and point a gun at the tv screen.
Transformers Devastation is fuckin' good tho, seriously
Coming back to this vid because it has never looked so over for Platinum
In hindsight, it's good to know Nier soothed many of the worries this video presented.
I don't care about any of these games or any of these genres, but your take on the situation and your presentation style made the video very comprehensible and enjoyable.
Keep up the good work! We need more critical yet fair people talking about issues in gaming.
I didn't think Star Fox Zero was all that bad. Main problem are the controls but once you get used to them you have a pretty decent game.
star fox zero is a great game
Its good that you like Star Fox 64 HD. Star Fox 64 was a great game.
Jana Höning Music You can also get used to shoving syringes in your eyes while doing a backflip in a furry suit.
Sounds like a regular thursday to me
off topic but whats the song that plays during the TMNT controls rant and afterward? i recognize it
Who's here after the great reviews of Astral Chain?
Watching this video since Nier:Automata came out is really weird, because that game addresses almost all of the issues you've raised here XD
It's pretty obvious what's going on platinum's big Teams are working big high budget games like nier for example while the smaller b teams make games like TMNT and korra and even then the only bad one was TMNT I had a blast with transformers devastation
What's the song you used during the TMNT segment
Did he just show a clip of MGSV and not talk shit about it?! Lord help me something awful must've happened to Charlie to get him to fall off track like that. His voice inflection has also changed slightly... SOMETHINGS UP
Oh. That's what I get for attempting to make a quick cheeky jab.
that song in the intro is just.. amazing
Thanks God for Nier Automata
I actually really liked Devastation. It was short, but for what it was, it was great. Very respectful to the license, solid use of sounds and gameplay mechanics and a fair amount of replayability, and considering it was a budget title, it's hard to say it is bad. Transformers Devastation is good for what it is.
Metal Gear Rising Revengence is still a kick-ass game. Raiden got to star in the game he deserved, my only complaint is that the story mode could have been longer, but other than that it was awesome.
Scalebound looks pretty cool, too bad its an X1 exclusive.
Scalebound is coming to PC. It's supposed to have cross-play with the Xbone, I think. The PC port is confimed.

I don't really play much on PC, I'm hoping for a PS4 port.

New to the channel, seems like a lot of great, thought provoking videos, hope we can get more from you
RIP Scalebound
I dont really see the issue in the controls for zero, much of it was as much of a learning curve as Splatoon's gyroscopic shooting, and eventually I got ahold of it. Now I can blast away anything within the screen's line of sight
clover>platinum
👍👍👍
I disagree. None of Clover's output struck me as particularly great.
God hand alone wins but Vanquish was cool too. Either way Shinji Mikami should work with Platinum more often.
Shinji Mikami said that he will get back to God Hand eventually
+Mohamed Alnás (ShoX) I'm sure Shinji Mikami would like to but it's probably never going to happen. At best we could get a new beat em up similar to Godhand.
Hey, what was the music being played in this video? It was really catchy.
"Segway into the show"
I know what you're trying to say, but you should have spelled it "segue".
Treating platinum like a starving artist is an excuse.
Which could be very much true. All of their recent projects have had outside funding.
Babylon’s fall
Don't remind me 😢
I'm curious if the publisher activision had any hand in the quality of the licensed work as they published all the titles that haven't been up to the platinum standards perhaps activision rushed development or limited the budget not allowing platty to put as much quality or effort in as their usual titles just food for thought
So, basically...
When everything is epic and exciting... nothing is. :P
"videogame equivalent to Transformers, all shine and no substance"
A bit of an unfair statement to make, there, considering a bit of in-depth look would prove it wrong. You must have only seen either the old cartoon or the Michael Bay movies - which, trust me, are NOT the best examples of Transformers being the juggernaut of a franchise that it is.
Gary A. Hood Dude I don't care about Transformers, I'm talking about why Platinum sucks, and I'm clearly referring to the Michael Bay movies.
What's the music in the background at 7:56?
I still enjoyed Star Fox Zero tho
Most who actually played it have.
Complaining about the controls is a pretty clear sign that you didn't play it.
I understand those who didn't like them, and the game left a bittersweet feeling to me... but oh well, at this point this is the best we can get, it's a niche franchise and a niche genre
HOW?
I did play it and the controls sucked, sucked worse than any wii U game.
@@agent42q yeah maybe but the game itself controls aside wasn't that bad
Was that rant on Star Fox Zero's controls inspired a bit by Matthewmatosis' bit on Skyward Sword?
>Not appreciating Yoko Taro
Why the fuck would you appreciate him when he made Drakengard 3? It is the worst game to ever get made, period.
How you can do that to such a amazing franchise is beyond me.
Kanny Boy It wasn't THAT bad, the framerate issues were a real problem for sure, but Drakengard was never good for it's gameplay but rather for it's story. And I think Drakengards humour, 4th wall breaks and overall story was really great. I enjoyed it a lot.
Drakengard, humor. Pick one.
What's the tune played after plastic love? It sounds similar, pretty nice. Played around 10:35
