    Hello newbies to tinnutus, it gets better, trust me. Your brain is an amazing organ that will learn to forget tinnutus. I thought i would never get better or sleep again, but i did and you will. REFUSE to allow this sound to control your life. I found that when i declared that to myself, it gradually got better. And now i barely notice it.

    Not to mention all the fake gimmicks out there you have to be careful of! For over 7 years I controlled my tinnitus be using ear plugs at night while sleeping. My audiologist however, does not recommend that for training the brain, but for me it worked! Now that I'm older, I wear hearing aids with tinnitus masking capability (tuned to the frequency of my tinnitus). Thanks for all the help AND hope you provide!

    I've had it for years. Sometimes it gets excruciatingly loud and sometimes it is livable. I've tried the sound therapy all the color noises, crickets, etc. which only seems to annoy my brain and the tinnitus sounds will increase. It's almost like my brain says, "oh, you wanna mock me, well here ya go." LOL

    I have had ringing and sounds in my left ear for about 12 days now, non-stop! Sometimes it's loud and sometimes it's tolerable. My nights have been difficult since then. It has caused me to get more stress and anxiety. I talked to a Chiropractor who's a friend of ours. He said it could be a pinched nerve. I am going to see him for an eval and hope it helps.

      You have to have an integral approach. Besides being counseled by my audiologist here, I do CBT from an app called OTO, I am in therapy with a psychologist, I have my ENT checking on my left ear, and at the beginning also had psychiatrist. I went through a very hard time the first 3 months, strong anxiety, panic attacks, vertigo, hyperacusis, misophonia, the fireworks of New year made feel like a scared dog, it was just terrible. I'm still medicated for depression, but pills alone will never be the answer. You need to put yourselves into mental therapy, sound therapy, into relaxation techniques, meditation, CBT, good feedback on youtube like this channel and others, acquire reliable information from expert like Dr. Ben, keep watching good stuff about how to get better, use sound theraphy religiously, exercise, go for a walk often, try to do some household stuff, don't just lie in bed and cry (it's valid, but don't just do that), occupy your mind and body, watch movies, comedy mainly, avoid silence, stop watching horror or action movies, get a lot of hugs and kisses from your love ones, don't stay alone for long periods of time, have sex, eat healthily. I'm not saying it's easy, it's hard as hell, I'm still struggling but I see my improvements. Your brain is the one that is going to do the work of habituation, your job is you create the conditions for it to do it a bit faster. At the begging my tinnitus was a level 10, and it's reactive, had like 5 different sounds inside my head, the worst tinnitus possible, I could not go outside, even chewing or taking a shower were a nightmare because my tinnitus would spike hard, I was going crazy. After doing all these things daily, religiously even in my worst moments, I can say now after 4 months, I still hear my tinnitus but the volume is a bit softer and it's bothering me less, it's less reactive and I hear only 1 or 2 sounds in my head, I could say it's a level 7 or 6 and I go for more because I see it's possible to get better. I have been all my life very anxious and had catastrophic thoughts about everything, if I could put myself into a rigorous plan to heal in what I consider the hardest challenge in my life (my sudden hearing loss and tinnitus) surely any person with some determination, help and discipline can. I wish you the best.

      @@ajpello2003 I use Widex Zen fractal tones. I didn't buy the Hearing aids. I just found some short samples on UA-cam, I downloaded them then on my editor I made a chunk 24 hour long. I wear my sleep band wherever I go, so I listen to it all the time. For bed time I don't use it, I put a fan with a strong sound next to my bed and it's been working as well. That's what I do. I don't try to mask my tinnitus, I just found after many tries and errors that these sounds help me relax and send the tinnitus to the background.

    Thank you for this video. I have tinnitus for about 6 years. Living in Canada, every ENT doctor and family physician tells me they can't do anything except get me a hearing aid or suggesting listening to music at night when it is the loudest. I have been told it can't be treated because the hearing nerves are dying, or the inner ear hairs are not working properly etc. I constantly wake up because of the noise, now taking mild sleeping pills to at least sleep 5-6 hours. I also listened to you conversation in one of your video's with Dr. Michael Golenhofen when he talked about 3 main types of tinnitus. I wish I had an ENT doctor who would do this kind of study and really help me. Around the time it started I had a fall and broke my ankle, being close to 70, that was very dramatic for me. I developed high blood pressure plus started having tinnitus.

    The title of this video makes little sense because the brain is the actual source of tinnitus. The brain literally creates the sounds you are hearing in your head. The only solution is to silence the brain, or cause it to stop making these unwanted sounds. The state of successful healing is to return the brain to silence, not mask the sounds, but completely eliminate them. You want to return to the same silence you experienced before you had tinnitus. I believe this can be achieved. I have experienced this exact state at times. My goal is to experience complete silence again without a single intrusion of any unwanted sounds.

    I have high pitched tinnitus to which I've habituated...it's not a problem at all. The problem is the low pitched tinnitus and the vibrations I feel and the balance issues I experience along with it (it correlates in intensity). I did nothing proactively to habituate to my high pitched tinnitus..I don't remember when it started even. I can't understand why I am unable to habituate to the low pitch..it's two years this month. I have 2 days of silence most weeks...a rare week might have 3 or 1. On the days I have it, it is constant..all my waking hours and sleeping hours..thankfully it does not interfere with my sleep. I am able to fall asleep easiey. But when I am a awake it's very hard...normal sounds like the fridge and furnace are extremely loud on the days when the low pitch tinnitus is loud...it correlates...once in awhile a low pitch tinnitus day will be mild, with only rocking sensations, no vibrations, no balance issue. Any insight would be appreciated. I am trying CBT but it is difficult b/c I'm not really seeing any progress.

      I’ve had tinnitus for over 30 yrs, I’m 74. It’s in both ears but feels like it emanates from inside the back of my head. When it first began I was banging my head off walls hoping that would stop the bees buzzing inside. My GP was useless, no help at all. My hearing has remained unaffected though, no need for aids of any kind. Any hope of a cure disappeared around 20yrs ago when Captain Kirk - William Shatner said he had contemplated suicided over it because he couldn’t find a cure. Over time I’ve grown used to it, only notice it really when I’m on my own at night (I’m now single) It’s 01:50 just now and I’m on UA-cam, as usual at this time every night. The bees are still buzzing away but have become more of just an annoyance than anything else. It doesn’t affect my day to day life in the slightest, in fact I think I’d miss it if I woke one morning and it was gone 🤷‍♀️ Hmmm 🤔

      @Dinahsoar I’m glad I’ve been of some comfort to you. For the first couple of yrs you’ll feel demented by it, become depressed, even suicidal like myself and W. Shatner, among countless others. My tinnitus is 24/7, I have no “free” days which is prob why I’ve grown accustomed to it. . You also will become accustomed to it over time, believe me 💁‍♀️ As for treatment, the only hope I received from medics, at the beginning was, wear headphones with music playing loud to drown out the buzzing. Do not go down that path, it make the buzzing even louder!! Do not waste money on “magical” cures either, a multi millionaire like W. Shatner couldn’t find one. Being divorced, living on my own, Im able to lay in bed at night with my iPad watching vids till around 02:00. I then put on a TEDx Talk to listen to as I fall asleep. All this mostly blanks out the buzzing. I wake around 08:30 ish each morning, the buzzing still there, doesn’t bother me much, it’s just a part of my life like everything else is. Don’t despair over it, hunni, please 🙏 You will get used to it like I and millions of others have done. It eventually becomes just another niggling annoyance in our lives like all the others. Best wishes, hunni, hope I’ve helped you in my own small way 💁‍♀️

    I had bad tinnitus back in my 20s after a bad sinus infection ( no hearing loss thankfully) and I thought it would ruin my life mostly. over many months and years I just learned to tune it out and i never thought about it much. it just works for some reason I cant explain it. I have anxiety so If I think about the ringing it will just get worse witch can happen some times.

    But what about the 3 percent who literally cannot function in day to day life ? What should they do ? Pay money to Ents and audiologists and go bankrupt ? Fight with their loved ones because nobody understands them ? Or kill themselves in countries where Euthanasia is not allowed ?

      I’m 3 months in with tinnitus and are trying to manage ‘out’ the hissing and high frequencies. I bought a sleep machine which plays certain noises for 90mins. Its helped my sleep, even though I can still hear the hissing, it somehow relaxes you. There are loads of sound videos on UA-cam - try them out and see what works. I can recommend one.

    Dr. Michelle and Dr. Ben, it's really hard to trick your subconscious and not take your tinnitus so seriously. As you say, it's not that easy and directly possible, but rather indirectly through sound therapy and relaxation and CBT. But does it often help to simply have the time to go through the habituation process and to be able to further block out the tinnitus?

    • @treblehealth
      @treblehealth  2 місяці тому

      Hi! Thank you for reaching out. Many people with tinnitus do habituate on their own without the use of sound therapy or CBT. It typically does take longer, though it is possible.

    horrible condition. Have tinnitus almost a year now both ears and hear it right through the center of my brain. I tried sound therapy but didn't do anything. I have accepted the ringing but it doesn't make a difference. No loss of hearing detected. No loud noises. Just woke up one day with it - likely from pills. Good luck if you get this wretched condition. its not fun.

      I have low pitched tinnitus and high pitched...I've habituated to the high pitched w/o even trying. Have no idea when it started either. But the low pitched: it's a night mare b/c I also feel vibrations and have balance issues on bad days..mild days it's rocking boat and no vibrations. Night time is my easiest time...maybe sleep is my only sure escape from it.
