I must say that I love Audiology, however it isn't for everyone. There is a lot of misinformation about the industry out there, and resistance to treatment is the norm. However, I'm trying to get the information out there so people can make better informed decisions. Hopefully, this information has helped in your decision making process.
@@surajpatel165 hey sir! I'm a second year BASLP student in India as well, I would like to ask you some questions like, does this course really have any scope here? Because there're already ENTs standing out there to treat hearing problems, we just test their hearing levels and fit hearing aids and do some other related stuff, and also after studying such vast syllabus we don't even get to add Doctor before our names, I'm still confused for the career that I've chosen.
Your video is helpful because I recently was referred by my Primary Care Physician to see an Audiologist because I've been experiencing ringing in my ears for several years and lately, I've been experiencing dizziness when I am walking like I am off balance. I have had problems in the past with vertigo and sinuses. My question, can there be a wax built up in my ears that the Primary Care Physician cannot see, and do Audiologist clean wax built up in the ears for a long period of time? I don't seem to have any problems with my hearing because I can hear what neighbors are saying standing outside my door in the hallway or out in the alley.😀 😃 😄 😁 😆 I thought the dizziness might be caused by the blood pressure beta blocker. My cardiologist doesn't think so. I truly think the dizziness and ringing in my ears has something to do with a problem inside my inner ears.
Interesting ! Thank you for the insight. I work as an hearing aid professional in Germany. It’s a little different here. First of all we don’t have any audiologists with a doctorate degree fitting hearing aids. To be able to legally fit and sell hearing aids here you must go to school for four years and pass a test to get licensed. The test is equivalent to a bachelor professional. I wonder how it is in other counties
My son is 6 year old now..till now he is perfectly okay ..he is good in study .but recently we noticed that he is losing his hearing this even he knows that he can't hear what we speak little far from him.. sometimes if we speak near to him .he can't hear..only if we speak face to face to can hear. What to do mam..pls help me..
Most field audiologists are AuDs (Doctors of Audiology), which is closer to PhD. Audiologists in research or teaching positions will often go for a PhD on top of their AuD. Hope this helps!
Hi, I just wanted to know is there any fluency in local language required? ACTUALLY I am from INDIA and want to pursue my Masters in audiology in foreign and settle down there.... so is it ok to know fluent ENGLISH And little bit knowledge of local language?
I’ve been researching the process of becoming an Audiologist but I can’t seem to find a general consensus of what people tend to Major in for their bachelors. Is it usually biology or something more like speech communications science and disorders?
Communication Sciences and Disorders is the main Major that Audiologists take in undergrad. However, most Bachelors of Science degrees will work. I am actually an Exercise Science Major.
For itchy ears and earwax removal would I more likely go to an ENT or an audiologist? Also, why do regular mds never really say anything about extremely itchy ears or wax build up when looking in the ears?

Question : I have a great passion in becoming an audiologist but I don't know how to get there. What A levels must I pick in order to take audiology forward in university?
Hello. I have a question and I hope someone can give me a little advice. I´m a medical resident in Mexico, the specialty im in is called "Audiology, Otonuerology and Phoniatrics". I was wondering if it is possible for someone with my specialty to work in the USA after I finish and what is the process. This medical specialty does not exist as such in the USA or in several other countries. Instead in most countries, our area of study is divided between Audiologist (a different career) and subspecialties of Otolaryngology (like neurotology). Hope someone can point me to a webpage or something where I can ask or see the requirements. Have a nice day and thanks a lot!
Its a shame that an audiologist cannot write a prescription like a typical MD or DO can, however its understandable considering the science prerequisites as an undergraduate are almost non existent.
@@zacksalvatore9443 Those other mentioned professionals have been trained to understand and prescribe medication. Audiologists are not trained to do this!
That's an amazing video but I think the thing you said about doctorate was wrong.Anyone could be an audiologist after Master's degree and a state license
Not true. Becoming a Masters level audiologist is no longer possible. All masters level audiology licenses were obtained prior to the doctorate requirement. In the USA at least.
does that mean a person can become a speech language pathologist and an audiologist? when i went to my university's open house one of the heads of CSD undergrad was a speech pathologist and an audiologist and i thought that was so cool!!
@@DrCliffAuD Many health allied science professions have required candidates to become licensed doctors in their area of specialty. PharmD has replaced the pharmacist with a BS, audiologists of course and speech therapists.
Well Think about it like this some jobs don’t work where everyone can see what people do or work with so Audiologist is one of them there is probably more jobs in the healthcare sector that other people don’t know much about the same for other jobs in other sectors

I wondered if my audiologist was a medical doctor, but I didn't want to insult or offend her by asking. So they are PhD vs. MDs? Thanks!

What would you suggest someone major in if they don’t have an SLP degree???
I don't understand the question.
AuD course is available in which countries? After baslp degree in india, how many more years for AuD?
If someone has an ear ache, does he need to consult audiologists

Either one would be a good option. Cerumen removal is within both of their scopes of practice in most states.
