  • Sadly, this will be my last video on this channel, at least for some time, so first off let me say thank you to everyone that has sent in a project for repair or restoration, and thanks to everyone that has commented or messaged me since I started this channel. This video features a Model 12 Mixmaster that was restored 2 years ago, and has been used quite regularly ever since. Unfortunately it has developed an issue and we will diagnose and repair it so it can be put to use once again.
    Regarding the channel, it has been a lot of fun, and I never expected to see so much enthusiasm for the repair and restoration of vintage kitchen appliances. Thank you all again!!
    For anyone still looking to have a mixer serviced or repaired, you can check the people on the list at the link below.
    I will still be posting an occasional video on my other channel, so feel free to subscribe to me there and say hello!

    Vintage Mixers and More , thanks for all of these videos you’ve done Rick. Even if you never get back to doing any more, what you’ve done will always be an excellent reference for anyone of us searching for information on how to keep our machines running as best we can. I’m certainly grateful for all your efforts in passing on your knowledge and experience. Look after your health issues and I hope things pick up for you.

    Hopefully you are still checking this---I either lost or didn't have that little plastic piece you spoke of around 8:26. What is it's purpose? Maybe to keep the grease contained? I guess I could find something else to stick in there? Thanks for all your helpful videos-I don't believe I ever would have tried tearing into this without them!

    I found your Utube site less than a week ago, just browsing if my antique upright mixer was there and not expectating it at all. Well surprise surprise. Great for me, having a near copy of this MixMaster.
    Watching and listening to you is very interesting. I probably would be able to undo everything, but putting it back in the right order ... I don't think so.
    I am sad for you and for your community. Thank you for all this work. I really appreciate the little I watched, but will keep on sneaking for the other vids. I wish you the best of the best in your new passion.

    Great video!! My Mixmaster is the same model, and it gets very hot. I made a coffee cake and ran it on speed #6 for about 10 minutes, and it got very hot.

    Aww Rick, your videos really helped me and my husband fix up my 1950 Kitchenaid 3C mixer (my photo) and my current project 1940 Kitchenaid 3B. Always enjoy watching the videos. Best of luck to you and your family ❤

      @@vintagemixersandmore1666 hi there. I am not on Facebook. If you still check in would you kindly give me contact info for the guys who are picking up service business on the Model 12? I’m on the west coast. Mine is running okay but I think getting a bit slower. I figure it’s worth the investment to keep it going and it’s a work of American industrial art. Thanks.

    This may be the first video of yours that I watched, and it may be the last video that you make, but even at the very end, you managed to help this guy rescue a Model 12 from the basement of oblivion. And now my grandma's rocking her new stand mixer (no more balancing the hand mixer on a stack of boxes!) So thanks

    If you can’t find an original resistor, any advice on what can you use as a substitute? I’ve got two of these & they’re perfect, except the resistors are bad. And, though I just ran across your channel for the first time, I’m sorry you’re no longer posting!

      I had been using wirewound 180 ohm 5 watt resistors made by Dale and inserting them into the old reisistor housings, although you really dont have to. They do run hot so I adjust the lowest speed up a little bit and it helps. So far I havent heard of any issues.

      Gee I just saw this reply - thanks! You’re talking about a regular wire wound resister right, not one of those aluminum-clad ones?

    Sorry for asking a question on this video but it’s the newest one.
    I just restored a Hamilton Beach model B and I was about to use white lithium grease on the gears but looked it up and I’m supposed to use some sort of food grade grease. What and where do I buy it. Thanks. You’re videos are sweet

    I just replaced the grease in my Sunbeam Mixmaster Model 11, and now the beaters are hitting one another. How do I fix this? Also, the locking mechanism hasn't worked since I inherited it and I haven't been able to find a picture of what the mechanism should look like to see if I'm missing any parts or if any parts are damaged. Have you run into this problem before?

    • @vintagemixersandmore1666
      @vintagemixersandmore1666  4 роки тому

      Hi Julia! When you reinstall the gears on the shafts, make sure both set screws are facing directly towards the front of the machine, that will make the timing correct on the beaters so they dont hit. As far as the lock, there is a spring connected to a pin , you can see it in teh front just above where the gears are, but not in the gearbox, above it. The handle has a little indent underneath on the metal where the actual handle attaches, the indent engages the tip of the pin that comes through the top of the machine, and thats what locks it in. Those are the things I can suggest to check, make sure the pin moves up and down correctly.

    Hey I have a really old Kenmore stand mixer that looks very similar to These Sunbeam brand Mixers. Do you know anything about the Kenmore branded ones are?

    • @vintagemixersandmore1666
      @vintagemixersandmore1666  4 роки тому

      I have not personally seen a kenmore branded sunbeam, it would be interesting for sure! A lot of different manufacturers made mixers for kenmore, and it seems the styling was changed a bit for the kenmore brand from the original.

    Just discovered your channel. I bought a vintage Crome one, series LR18259 mm400, touted as being in perfect condition. However, it’s missing the turntable and the beaters at some point must have been put in reversed, left into right. They’re a bit bent. When I turn it on, they do click slightly. Can they be straightened? I’ve run out of sites to check. No one seems to have dealt with this issue that I can find. Nor can I find this series anywhere to get the instruction manual or details for replacements. They aren’t wildly twisted, just one side lower than the other on both beaters. Would gentle tapping with a hammer work? Thank you for any suggestion you may have. Apologies for the lengthy message. Cheers.
