In the automotive world we would call that a "time capsule". A machine that seems to have cheated time. Great video, thanks for making them.

I certainly wouldnt mind having an automotive time capsule.. perhaps a pontiac :)
Conditions must have been just right, the only exception was the turntable bearing, but I can only assume liquid somehow got on the base, and ran into it to rust it up.
      Thanks!!

Nice to find and use a well-preserved machine. I have two chrome model 12 machines, one I found with a "frozen" motor. The oil froze up the beater sleeves in place. I have an older yellow model 12 that has the dry bushing issue, I will fix it over the holiday break. I feel confident I can disassemble the motor to lubricate the bushings and change the gear grease and inspect the beater sleeves. Thank you for sharing your expertise.

Great video thank you. I have my moms sunbeam model 12 and it was a bit smokey and I had stopped using it. Your video gave me the confidence to open it up and take a look inside. Just crusty dirt burning off mainly but the wires were a bit exposed and needed repositioning. I couldn.t undo the screws to look at the gears but no problems so I left well alone. It is fine now and not smoking. I have just treated myself to original cookbooks as mine were missing.

That is pretty cool, I just won at auction a model 12 it looks just like that one, it came with two bowls and it runs but not sure it runs as good as the one in this video, mine has the original power cord, pretty neat blender I think mine is 175W.
Seems from the late 60's and below that must have been as big as they went until the eariler models in the 235W range.

Hey, nice score! They were definitely not as powerful as they started making themin the late 60's and up, they did not even offer any sort of dough attachment as they knew it lacked the power for anything heavy like that, but did perfect at mixing lighter stuff like cake mixes!
That blender is a nice attachment for it!

@Vintage misers, Mine came with a sunbeam appliance covers accessories and cookbook pamphlet, in the pamphlet for Deluxe mixmaster mixer accessories for models 10,11,12,MM,1-72,1-73,1-76,1-80.601, and 701 series there is a Disco-chef food slicer/shredder attachment #94-480
A food grinder attachment/with required power unit #94-230
      A Juicer attachment #94-70
      A set of beaters # 87235
A set of stainless steel bowls # 94-170
      A set of dough hooks # 94-190
Problem is how would I know if I have the "Deluxe Mixmaster Mixer?
Far as I can tell mine is just a 12, 150W
Cosmetically mine is very good but running wise? It dose Not run as good as the ones you fix so I might try to open it up, and take pictures as I go, remove the old grease, clean up the gears and beater shafts, inspect the wiring (even though the cord look great one of you videos mentioned the inside could be a different story, re-lube, and go with that as I would not have replacement parts if anything else was wrong with it.
Another one that I would like to fiddle with would be a Vtg Oster Regency Kitchen Center 12 Spd. Mixer Grinder Processor Blender, Those look pretty cool and maybe beefier also?

Very informative video but it lacks some explanation like for instance what do you do with the noisy bushing in the back to repair it? Does it require a new bushing or a special lubricant?

this is great! i donated my moms super ultra deluxe new-gen sunbeam when she died...didn't think i'd need it. but i've been doing more cooking since prepared foods have so much junk in them. bought myself this same model on ebay--runs like a champ! u can't beat old stuff. This is prob a dumb question but what kind of grease is it u put on the gears?

Hey thanks for the video! I found the exact same model 12 speed at the Thrift store today and bought it for $2.50! Was wondering what kind of things to look out for but mine seems well taken care of, if missing the beaters and bowls. Can you help me real quick with the serial number on these things, I couldn't find it on mine and I need to know what size replacement beaters to get for it. Thanks!

Great vids!! Where can I get the resistors and capacitors for the mixmasters ? Also, do you have a video of how you modify the resistors? Thanks for great videos.

Thanks! You can buy new capacitors from www.davesrepair.com , for the resistors I dont know if I have a video on it, but I take one end off, drill a small hole in each end, and insert a 180 ohm 5 watt wirewound resistor inside the old one. Originally they were 10 watts but I have never been able to find a 10 watt resistor that will fit in place of the old one. With a 5 watt you do have to adjust your lowest speed up a little bit, and not let it run at that speed for extended period, but sunbeam suggested not running it on low for very long with theirs as well. The 180 ohm resistors I used are made by Dale and I found them on ebay, but after doing a quick search I see there are not any currently listed. Someone may have to come up with an alternative solution at this point.

Absolutely brilliant video. Thank you. I have inherited a 12 speed model 11. Can you please tell me what grease/oil to put in it? I will take it apart and regrease, its making a burning smell when turned on. (I haven’t used it properly yet)

Hey, I just recently purchased a model 12 and the shaft without the juicer attachment is stuck in the gear, any suggestions on how to remove it?

    • @russ5024

Dis-assemble the front, take your time, keeping track of the parts. Using penetrating lubricant like liquid wrench or WD-40 should loosen the shaft.

Hi, Im sorry I am no longer repairing mixers. Sounds like the shafts may be siezed due to hardened grease.
