As I mentioned towards the end - I know I may have missed out a fair amount of details in relations to specific mission strategies 'n' stuff, but as I'm sure you know that in itself is a lot of ground to cover! Plus there are those within the community more experienced than I who can tell you about them in greater detail, so feel free to jump into the hogs discord and check out some of the speedrunning guide we have there! I should also mention that although they completed runs at different times - all of these speedrunners in this video worked together to uncover the strats talked about in this video, some more than others, but ultimately it was a community effort! Thanks for watching & support the channel guys, this video has been some time in the making, I'm glad its finally done. Now I'm going for a little lie down before I continue working on Pin's Mod v5!
GG to Pin for an amazing work on this video. I may have put my Any% work to sleep until further notice, but I can safely say I found my own dimension into other categories, mainly Half Health, Individual Levels, and of course Island Speedruns, thanks to the GP idea that I'm still so glad I came up with. I still hope we can bring new speedrunners into the game with further instances of the Hogs of War Grand Prix. candyman clearly wants to take everything, and even if he reigns supreme on the "most important" category, that doesn't mean we won't keep fighting. But you are right on the community part. New strategies nowadays are almost always a group effort, and it's so fun to be in the mix of this community. Anyway, I really gotta lower my PB on Any% someday. If anything to replace that old run where my hair is so freaking terrible :D
Such a detailed and thorough video. This was amazing to watch. I got into speedrunning hogs as a little side project for my holidays, and i had so much fun breaking this nostalgic, and humble little game. New ways of running this game are always coming out and its never been a better time to start speedrunning if you really want to. The community is amazing, and i am looking forward to the future of hogs speedrunning and competitive scene.
You Absolute Legend Very good watch great to see the history and learn more about the community. That body block technique is the only reason I've kept my survival bonus throughout the campaign so cool to see where it came from !!
Fascinating video. I wish I'd known about speedrunning earlier, no way I'd have the patience to try and beat the mighty Candyman now. Also loved the use of the legendary Tekken 3 soundtrack.
Well there are many different categories to run, not all are dominated by candyman (yet). Additionally, there can be new strats and faster routes found so there is still room for improvement. And you can check his channel out, there are many great guides for certain missions to learn from
Great video, except for me missing with the shotgun, didn't want to edit that one out I see :D For anyone interested to get into speedrunning this game, all the times are always beatable, and have fun :)
Amazing documentary i'm glad to have been apart of the history of speedrunning Hogs of War i did it more for fun but makes me want to try and work on my old time and see if i can lower it :D
I wonder who was the first to think of standing on the pillbox hatch so that the gunner would jump out and miss the move. Because I have known this trick since childhood, back when there were gaming clubs(it was 2003 or 2004, i think). One older guy showed us this trick
Yes that tutorial is still viable, however I would also consider looking at using Duckstation as the emulator of choice. It tends to be the most reliable and has a massive array of option compared to epsxe :) you can find everything here! (Scroll down to the bottom of the page) www.hogsofwar.org/workshop

This was really interesting to see how much the meta changed in such short times.

Liked for the Karl Jobst intro reference.

I did a double take when I heard Mokujin's theme start playing. Same era and platform I guess so it makes sense.

thank you for such a interesting video to watch, its sad fact that some youtube videos are 700 times better than movies these days
Must say, I love the Tekken music in the background. Tekken 3 isn't it?
Yes indeed!
Nice content

Karl Jobst nod is sending me
Hello good, I want to play with friends, is your tutorial from 2 years ago still useful or is there another?
