  • Here is a video demonstrating how to repair vinyl siding that has become loose and unclipped at the top of a wall. It is as simple as removing the siding and (sometimes) trimming the top, then adding tabs for the undersill trim to engage with.

    Malco snap lock punch amzn.to/3Ws0f7r

When I was young I was protective of my ways, (to maintain a competitive edge) but now I don’t mind sharing what I’ve learned. I can’t put siding on every house in the world 🤗.

How about the lowest rung. I think my neighbors kids ball hit it and it won't stay engaged at the bottom. Supper glue ? LOL.

Hmm… that could be a tough one. Could be that the bottom clip or starter strip got deformed. If you take off the bottom piece and measure to the next one it should be 8” (or however tall the siding is that is on your house), if it is less than 8” - move the starter strip down to the correct height and put the siding back up - that May fix your issue. Good luck!

Wanted to ask in a different video, but, are there any adapters that you know of for installing insulated siding? Calls for a 2" nail but the roofing nailers go to 1 3/4". Are there any siding nailers out there with tips yet or am I better off going with maybe the Paslode stapler you've used in previous videos? Thanks for the motivation to DIY.

Hi, if you’re trying to nail the insulation - roofing nails will hold better (or a button nailer). If you’re trying to nail the siding - the Paslode SCS200 will handle up to a 2” staple. The vinyl siding tips for the stapler are incredibly hard to find. You could try to call Adams Tool & Nail in Leominster MA… they might be willing to ship one to you.

Thanks for the response! I may have to give them a call on Monday. I am installing a ProVia insulated siding product, CedarMAX. It's already attached to the siding so it sticks out a little further than hollow siding. @@sidingschool

No problem and good luck! Make sure to check the applicable codes and manufacturers fastening requirements. I’ve definitely had to hand nail a few jobs (one job even required 3” roofing nails). Hand nailing isn’t so bad once you get the hang of it.
