  • On this episode of Crazy Will Tech Show, I show you how to fix a hole in your vinyl siding. Well, I had another video planned for this week but part of my other chores on the weekend, like mowing the lawn and then you throw a rock into your vinyl siding. Your plans change to keep on track with your video schedule. Now I’m not just throwing this video together. Unfortunately this is not my first time fixing vinyl siding because of a rock. So, I took this opportunity to show you how to fix your vinyl siding panel. So, let’s do something a little different on this show and make it Crazy Will Home Improvement Show.

    That's all fine when you have extra siding. I pull the siding off glue a metal patch on the back of the siding with a spray adhesive. Next I I cover the front side hole with liquid vinyl and let it dry sand it flush and paint it. reinstall it and you can barely see it.

      Really? Liquid vinyl. That sounds very interesting. Do you have any pics?

    Using a flat bar is easier to pull out the nails, you can also use it to start pulling the siding as well if you don’t have the siding tool. As soon as one end is free you can easily pull off the old piece.

    Do you want a real easy way to patch this and especially where this is it makes it a lot easier. Cut a piece of siding just shy of the maximum width. Cut off the top lip and trim some of the bottom lip of the vinyl siding piece. Take some pure silicone caulk and spread it on the vinyl siding paying particularly care to the top and the bottom do not let it be so close that it's going to leak out. Bend the siding slightly so it gets behind the side pieces slide it up into place and there you have it laminated and good to go. I probably had to do this 10 times so far at my house with the stupid lawn mower throwing rocks. Don't mean to step on your video but I find the lamination so much easier for people that are not used to replacing vinyl siding. Thanks for the video

      That has to be the most insightful comment I’ve ever had 😂 very helpful! I am definitely going to give it a try. It doesn’t look like a patch? I appreciate you sharing. You should definitely make a video.

      The area that you were fixing you wouldn't see it all because it's only a short run no seams just slip behind the 2 side pieces . I just patched a hole a few minutes ago and the piece I used was 6 ft long. So you'll see an extra seam but it really does not look like a patch whatsoever. I've been doing this for a long time as my ground is nothing but stones. Take care and be safe.

      Does it look good?

    • @barowt
      @barowt 3 роки тому

      @@CrazyWillTechShow well, no, it looks like crap, and is very noticeable after it weathers and turns yellow.. BUT it stays sealed and solid as the glass it's holding together.. so even trade off..
      And on the siding, you can still see the hole, unless you paint over it or try to get siding colored shoe goo.. but I think it only comes in clear and black.

    • @CrazyWillTechShow

    Folks if u have siding done on your house and the contractor leaves u half a box of siding or some cut pieces.... this is why. It's very hard to match up siding as a lot of companies change the colors slightly every few years. I've seen people throw that box of siding away thinking the contractor didn't feel like getting rid of it. LoL
    He isn't trying to stiff u on a dump run. I promise.

    my problem is hole is in older siding and replacement whole piece will look worse and more obvious than the whole.

    • @CrazyWillTechShow
      @CrazyWillTechShow  2 роки тому +1

      That is a problem….. but you could take siding off of the back of the house or a place that you don’t mind seeing a new piece of siding, And bring it to the front. When mine gets old i’ll take it from the back of my garage where no one see and move it to the front. Then replace the back with a new piece. My old man taught me the trick.
