I now ride a 2019 Harley Road Glide Ultra with a 114 engine, Woods cam, Fuel moto mufflers, Fulsac head pipes, dyno-tuned Power Vision, Screaming Eagle Ventilator air cleaner. I took a test ride on the 2020 Indian Challenger base model in sport mode. The 108 engine accelerates so much harder from 3,500- 4,000 RPMs than the 114 engine in my Harley. In my opinion, the paint job on my Harley looks so much better than any Challenger that Indian makes or any of the Indian big twins. The seat is so much plusher on my Road Glide Ultra and comfortable too vs the Challenger seat or even the Indian Road Master. The switches on all of the 2020 Indians look so much cheaper made vs the switchgear on my Harley. Even with Rhinehart mufflers installed on the Challenger, the exhaust sounds so much better on my Harley. I still own a 2015 Victory XCT too.

Agreed. Solid bike. The new generation GoldWing in DCT version in Sport mode is amazing. V-Twins are about culture too. I get the tactile feel of these bikes and why people love them. But nothing holds a candle to a silky smooth and reliable Gold Wing. They handle like nothing else either.

I'm a shorter rider (clocking in at around 5'5 on a good day) and I am amazed at how I'm able to stand up an Indian Touring compared to Harleys touring line. The weight distribution is perfect. I personally am on a 2019 Softail low rider and love it. But one day, I may be trying to pick up a Dark horse to add to the stable. Great review!

Been a HD guy most my adult life. Test rode and bought a Challenger on the same day. Harley just couldnt match the Indian in performance, specs and technology. $30k is alot to invest on a new model and I had some concerns. After 6 months and several thousand miles, Im still smiling like the day I did the demo. The thing I dig about Indian is they dont go cheap on their bikes. True Brembo brakes, inverted forks, Fox hydraulic adjustable rear suspension, Metzler cruise-tec tires made specifically for the Challenger. Love the adjustable windscreen. Great job Indian! My current ride is a 2015 roadmaster. I had been wanting to test ride a challenger. I did a couple of weekends ago at Barber Motorsports Museum in Birmingham, Alabama. This year makes 50 years riding on the highways. I was stunned at the power this bike has. It handles great for the size and extras on the bike. I left there in touring mode. Brought it back in touring mode. I get comments all the time on my roadmaster, plus, I'm the only Indian in this little whistle stop town I live in. Got my wife a can am LT or whatever it is, she loves "Paddy" as she named it. Also have a honda shadow 750. I rode a 1980 goldwing until 2014. Then got a roadking HD that was really maxed out on chrome and a mild stage one upgrade. Great handling and riding bike, but that old goldwing would outrun it on top end. Then my son totalled it out. He only broke his big toe. I asked him if he knew how lucky he was. My roadmaster is bone stock. It is the best handling big bike I've ever slung my leg across. The, that challenger test ride, I was really impressed. But, not quite enough to get rid of Kowaliga. My roadmaster's name, given by my wife.

ONLY at the seven minute mark!!!! Nice mirror, shows the care of that dealer. Should just return and have it repaired (it is a useful item), or stop and Temp. repair it yourself ( roll the mirror up- snug the jam nut, while holding the jam nut pull down on mirror) this would at least make it temporarily use full. Going to finish video now. Wow you did it at the 11 minute mark. Nice job. I was also paying more attention to the mirror than the ride! back to the video.

Nice bike and review. Indian should make this bike without a fairing. A better price point and not everyone likes a fairing. I bought a Chief Darkhorse for these reasons

The Limited is $500 more than the Dark Horse and includes the crash bar and chrome and better wheels. Better speakers. Their version of a CVO

Dark Horse & Limited have same upgraded audio. Limited is not their equivalent to CVO, just an aesthetic trim package of chrome Vs blackout, crash bars & different paint choices. Indians closest version of CVO is their “Elite”, don’t have it for Challenger yet

Those mirror's aren't, "prepped" because they don't know who's going to be riding the bike. But, they should snug up the lock nut a little better. As far as, "noise", I've never seen a YT video that didn't make the clunking sound on any bike, when shifting gears. Also, the fairings don't look that big in person.
I've also noticed, many reviewers only talk about the Dark Horse or the base model. There's also a non-dark horse that has all the bells and whistles. It comes in metallic ruby and a gorgeous blue color as well as black, all with a gloss finish.

The Challenger is quite possibly my next. I have a car called a challenger so why not a bike called a Challenger.the only issue I have with the Indian Challenger is that chirping sound like a Japanese bike makes. When I take my first test drive of one that will determine whether I get one or not.

Take it from a longtime Harley owner/rider. Buy metric. Much, much easier on the retirement account (and, not just in prices, but maintenance too!). And, how much is nostalgia, alone, worth anyway? I've literally sold a half dozen houses for less than the sticker price on new Harley Road Glides and Indian Roadmasters.

  • @andromedach
    @andromedach 4 роки тому +1

The base model has a good price, the limited and dark horse are over priced. Even after factoring in adding back the missing features; you cannot add in the special cornering ABS. However once you are done adding back what is missing the cost difference is still very high as in they are charging way too much for cornering ABS. Odd they use the Bosch setup but don't have hill assist brakes. Remember Harley charges less than 1k for their version of the same ABS (lean protection/etc)
Sorry, nothing lightweight about an 840 lb motorcycle.
Base model has 5.25 inch speakers. The upgrade on Indian's website upgrades this model as well as the upper model sounds to have a nine band equalizer support.

The handling and suspension are way better on the Springfield. You don't feel the weight in the Indian like you do on the HD. Even a buddy of mine that has a RK said he couldn't believe the difference. Put a stage 2 kit on the Springfield and it sounds great.

Like most Indian bikes the Challenger has a 2 hour seat. My brother and I just did about a 400 mile day trip and his Challenger was just like my Vintage, 2 hours and you need to get off and stretch the legs. Around town for an hour or so and the seat is great. My brother traded his Vintage in on the Challenger limited. He loves it and I've ridden it and its impressive.

Sure doesn’t. I can’t think of any cruiser manufacturers hard bags that do. Ive seen some Ducati’s with aftermarket bags that had a zipper expansion section that allowed the bag to expand wide enough to hold a full face. Maybe those hideous giant square boxes on a BMW GS would fit one?

The mic picks up what sounded like metallic rattling at idle and low RPMs. I have herd this on every video of the Indian motorcycles

Sorry to Harley but...Harley can't touch what Indian is putting out!!! I have always been a fan of Harley which is why I know what I'm in love with. Harley have avoided and ignored quality because they have taken for granted that hard corp fans wouldn't leave no matter what! "MY HARLEY COULD SHOOT SOMEONE ON 5th AVE AND..."! Being loyal is one thing however allowing someone to take advantage of your loyalty is another. Harley is capable of so much more and Indian Motorcycle are holding Harley's feet to the fire! My brand new Indian Challenger is proof!!!

Dear Sir. please forgive the following criticism, however there are a few points I feel obliged to highlight. Given you have a large and fairly long standing following, you really should up your game as an example to other riders. Moments after leaving the dealership the left hand rear view mirror gave up the ghost, any responsible rider especially in your position should have done one of two things, stopped the bike and gotten off and fixed it with a spanner or whatever, or turned around and had someone do it for you.
I've made a big deal about this simply because I have no doubt many of your followers hang on your every word etc. Consequently you bear much responsibility to be a much better example.
In answer to the question of price and value, most definitely not. Although it has to be said from what I have seen at least Indian is making a sublime effort to become a much more worthwhile option. Sincerely James (West Yorkshire, UK)
