- Today's walk around Ubud finds us meeting a nurse who explains how she finds work in her career and what her hope and dreams are for the future.
We also talk with a group of builders on their way to work in the morning where they're constructing a villa - it's apparently quite far to get there.
A massage therapist getting her breakfast tells us of her travels to Malaysia and where she learned her occupation. This woman looks remarkably young for her age.
A coconut seller gives us some of his time to talk about his business in the Ubud markets.
I also explain what I'm doing as I have to leave Bali due to my visa expiring. do I go to India, Thailand, or return to Bali?

These videos are excellent buddy. Great to see you taking an interest in daily life in Bali. Fan from Perth, WA
Hi sameer, thanks so much for watching the little vids. Cheers.
I like your interviews. This channel is the best one to get to know about Balinese people and their lives. Keep up the good work !
Thanks, Eddy. Appreciate you taking the time.
I live in Bali and have been involved since 1983. I've spent more than half my life in Asia since 1958. I am careful of whom I connect with and consider their intentions closely. It seems you are a good boyo dear Fiasco. I live in Pejeng. On a pension I don't have finances to support paypal etc particularly as I look after some aid situations here. However you are welcome --like other selected friends do- to leave belongings with me in a plastic tub so you don't have to bring so much each time you come. Kind Regards-----Boom Boom La Bern.
😂🎉
I really appreciate the offer of somewhere to leave things so as to lighten the load, blb. It can be an inconvenience traipsing stuff back and forth as you come and go which you obviously understand. The fact you;'re only just up the road is quite convenient and should I have the need in the future, i'll accept your generous offer. Also, thanks for the kind words, Boom la Bern.
You are very polite and nice....pleasant. Also you learned well the language
Hey, thanks BTS - I appreciate it.
@@fiascodagama1 😘
Great to hear you'll be back in Bali soon Wayne - looking forward to more of your daily interactions. Sampai berjumpa lagi!! 😀✌
Thanks Jaro..I look forward to returning, it's a lot of fun. Thanks for your support!
Awww, safe travels. My favourite 🎶🎹 tune again. Thank you for your videos. They make me smile. 👏👏👏
Hey Sandie. So glad you enjoy the little videos - thanks for taking the time to say so. Cheers.
Mate I'm really enjoying your videos. They are so down to earth. Good that your not giving up on bali and will be back to show us more.
Thanks Milkybar. Trying to keep it a bit real, for sure. Thanks.
Another good one Wayne, hope to bump into you in bali one day, we will be living in Sanur full time come january as i will retire, my wifes very happy big smile, back to her home land, cheers!
That's just great, Jonesy. The prospect of retiring to Sanur so near in the future must be making you feel pretty good right now. Nice one!
I'm happy to hear your returning to Bali Wayne. I enjoy watching your videos, I am planning to live there myself and they give a real insight to life there.
Thanks Ian👍
Hi Ian. You must be excited at the prospect of living here, hopefully it's not too long to wait.
Good luck with your return to Bali. Nothing too exciting going on in Oz. Cheers and thanks for the videos. 🎉
Hey marisa. Thanks so much. It does get pretty predictable in Australia at times. Really lucky to have Bali on our doorstep to mix it up for a while. Cheers.
Thoroughly enjoy your videos mate keep up the great work.
Aprreciate you taking the time, Jason. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your videos... your kindness and respect to the locals really makes them worthwhile. In regards to going somewhere else before coming back to Indonesia.. have you thought of Laos? It seems that there is not so much Laotian content on YT. Looking forward to more great watching from you. Best, M.
Hi Marhar. Laos is a great place with interesting people and would make for good content, I think. I'm not sure I will get there this time. Thanks.
Really enjoyed this round of videos, Indonesia has been on my list for a long time, hope to make it there soon. I'm getting a channel together myself, be more based around water activities, I won't really be in them, I have a hook though so see where it goes, underwater video becomes a whole other ball game. I wouldn't mind you having a walk about Perth, for those of us on the other side of the world. I'm off to Thailand tomorrow.
Congrats on starting a youtube channel, bf. They're a lot of fun and you get to meet plenty of good people through them while enjoying a hobby or interest. I wasn't sure whether people would be interested in Perth vids but a few have requested one or two so we'll try. Great that you're on your way to Thailand - enjoy.
Wayne, I have only just discovered your Videos and I love them. They are so interesting and enjoyable. I have been to Bali many times and yes the Balinese are lovely people. I love that you speak Indonesian with them, which I understand. So nice to watch a video that involves interaction with local people. Please keep making the Videos, they're a joy to watch. Look forward to many more 😊
Hi Karen. That's really generous of you, thanks so much. If you speak Indonesian yourself you must also have a lot of fun when you're here. Thanks nso much for taking the time to say helloo, Karen. Cheers.
You fit in so well, a friendly face who is engaging with others so well. Pls, acknowledge your gift as a communicator and your skilful learning of another language. Stop putting yourself down. We stay 2 months every year, have done so forever, now age 71, we renew our visa in Singaraja, its easy, but online is now the go. If I understand the VOA and extension of 30 days, I think you can extend now for another 30 days. It is our experience that it is cheaper to do a VOA + extension than the 60 day online application.
Hi Silvio. Thanks. I also understand it that some visas are now extendable online which makes it so much easier than going to immigration three times in a week as we once had to. Thanks for the kind words, Silvio. Cheers.
Thank you again for another wonderful video and I am so happy that you are returning soon 😊
Your Bahasa is improving so much and I love the way you interact with the local people ❤
Keep up the wonderful videos you making ❤
Hey Bernadette. Thanks so much, you're always very generous. Thank you.
Hold on to that guest room! It's perfect and the price is unbelievable!
Hi Darren. Yes, we've secured the room for a bit longer - hard to give it up at the price. :)
See you again... Mr
Stay safe and Enjoy the jorney.. Happy happy always
Thank you.
I’m so glad you’re coming back as I have just found yr clips and think they are fabulous. Your Bahasa is really good 😊 I started learning it during Covid online wth a Balinese teacher. Not quite at yr level but enjoy being there and most people seem to think I’m quite good at it or are just being polite !
Love the language and the people. Safe trip back to Australia… I live at Coolangatta on the Gold Coast. Coming bk to Bali in January
Hi Lesley. Just having the basics in Indonesian is enough for locals to light up and want to interact which is so rewarding. How great you're learning the language and also getting back here in January! Cheers.
Safe travels home Wayne! I’m looking forward to catching up with your travels when you return.
Thanks Mark. Still got a just over a wekk before I head off. Cheers.
@ great! A couple more videos before then 🙏
Good on you Wayne. I'll look forward to seeing your next posts when you come back. You embarrass me for my lack of bahasa. I'm going to put my head down and study from January(:-)
Good for you, MrT. Even having the smallest amount of the Indonesian language under your belt opens up a lot for travelling here, I think. Cheers.
Kenapa tidak mulai sekerang...😂😂😂
God bless you Wayne
Hey Bona. I hope you;'re well. Good to see you.
Look forward to your new adventure. If it involves moving around that will be great. I’m off to Nusa Lembongan last week of December first week January. If you manage to get there love to know what you think.
Hi Phys. I think i'd like to take a look around the island again as it's been a few years since the last time. I'm excited for you getting to Lembongan for Christmas, Phys, that's great!
@@fiascodagama1 I will be there just after Christmas for the new year and my birthday. Going with my wife 2 daughters and one of their partners Looking forward to it.
Love the videos mate. So different to the fake influencer garbage.
And I'm noticing that your Bahasa Indonesia has improved considerably over the last few weeks! Congratulations, and hope you do indeed get back t0 Bali soon. Selamat jalan, selamat kembali.
Thanks, kmcg. Getting lots of help with the Indonesian langiuage. :)
Great plan. The temperature is still pleasant here at the moment but as you know will be heating up soon in Perth.
Perth summers are almost to be avoided these days, aren't they?
@@fiascodagama1 Certainly are, but in a few weeks I wont know, moving o/seas myself.
@@riverleigh8 Sounds great!
Looking forward to traveling with you on your Bali tour! 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks, Sue. Really looking forward to it myself. :)
See you soon in indonesia Wayne. Nice vid. Good conversation with balinesse.
Thanks juhardioanse. I'm looking forward to being back here already.
Bye Wayne. Have a safe trip back home. Please do make some vlogs back home in Perth. It would be interesting.
Hi ruff. Still just over a week away so some more videos before then. Might do one or two from Perth. cheers.
Hey Sandgroper, I live in Perth. If you have an hour when you are back in Perth, perhaps we could meet up for a coffee.
I am leaving here on the 15th of January. I have organised my digital nomad visa for 12 months just need to pay the money after Christmas. I will stay in Ubud again, but I would like to visit other places like Gilli Islands 🏝 ect.
Perhaps you should do a trip out there next time, I heard that it's really peaceful.
Have a good trip back to Perth.
Regards,
Sandgroper Dave.
Hi Dave. The Gillis are great - I have a soft spot for the islands - you'll love them I'm sure. My time is really limited in Perth with a lot to do so unfortunately on this return trip I'm probably not going to be able to catch up with anyone, sorry. I'm excited for you getting to spend a year on a digital nomad visa in Ubud - it's a great place to live. Cheers.
@fiascodagama1 Thanks for replying. Have a good one!👍
Hi Wayne. Java is an amazing contrast to Bali. Banyuwangi is a quick trip across the Bali Stait and is a terrific introduction to the most densely populated island in Indonesia. English is spoken but your Bahasa will come in handy. The people and culture are amazing. The Osing people are a delight. Anyway, thank you for your content.
Hi Ed. Thanks for your impressions of Java and the encouragement to return there - I've always enjoyed Yogya myself and look forward to getting back there. I'll consider passing throu gh Bangyuwangi along the way. Cheers Ed.
I'm glad you're returning to Bali and hope you stay in Indonesia, travelling to various islands, sounds exciting, btw loving the shirt👍😅
@@ausjen Just for you, Jen :)
Hi Wayne , my wife n I have been to Bali couple of times I love it but my wife not at much , next time we visit there love to catch up n buy u a Bintang; keep the fantastic videos coming ; I love to move there permanently but that will never happen because I have to many family members here I will miss them to much especially the grandkids; take care mate .jc
Thanks Joey. Always happy to be on the receiving end of free beer and will welcome the invitation. ;)
Not sure what visa you're on, but there have recently been changes about the need to do visa runs. As in, you don't have to leave Indonesia to renew some of the visas now. Ocky Misa has a UA-cam channel called "What's Up Bali" which you might want to check out. I'm not certain of the date of commencement but pretty sure it's in place now.
That's really good information to have, Jenny - thanks. I'll look into it. Cheers.
Well done Wayne, I enjoy your videos. I love the way you interact with the locals. I am learning bahasa Indonesia also with a view towards becoming fluent and having similar interactions with the local people. I have travelled to Indonesia many times and have great affection for the people and culture. It is fun to be curious about and take an interest in the lives of others. I look forward to more of your adventures when you return to Indonesia. Selamat jalan Pak, dan kembali dengan selamat😂
Hi Shane. Learning the language even a little reward you and those you meet in many ways - I'm excited for you Really glad you like the little vids. Thanks
Hi Wayne,I think going to other places&returning keeps things more fresh&hope you have health insurance as well.
I looked at going via Penang next year on return to Australia from Bali Gosh,I feel old as that first lady could just be my grandkid in age(just)
I do not know about you but for all my travels,Bali is only place that feels like a warm hug and I find I am more myself in Bali than in Australia strangely
(Have you considered house/pet sitting internationally?
I think I gravitate towards your channel because it reflects the Bali I love with total respect to the locals with zero agenda, however it reminds me how much I miss Bali when not there. I have been trying to avoid check in luggage for a while&have a nifty jacket with lots of pockets that helps with weight restrictions. Good luck&safe travels
I agree, Stephanie. Sometimes leaving for a bit makes you appreciate the place a bit more, reactivating the desire to be there. I've considered house/pet sitting in the past but never went forward with it, although I have friends who've done it before. As far as luggage is concerned I've now got it down to just carry on which makes things a lot easier - there may still be a time when I'll need check-in baggage if I find myself wanting to move more permanently. Good to see you.
@fiascodagama1 Thanks Wayne,if you are there next Nyepi we can have a cuppa if you are free, cheers
@@bettyboop7426 I'd look forward to it, Stephanie.
I love your video ❤
Hi Viani. thanks so much.
I have enjoyed your videos
Always grateful you take the time to say hi, Janette. Thank you.
safe trip home and then back to Bali Look forward to seeing more videos
Thanks Jos. Look forward to making them. Cheers.
Nice vid Wayne. Now your word for the day is pulang kampung = home to village. You will get a laugh when you tell them " mau pulang kampung" about your return to Australia. The coconut seller let's call him tukang kelapa. Tukang = tradesman but you can call sellers tukangs also eg tukang sayur = vegetable seller or tukang listrik = electrician. Tukang kelapa said ' lumayan setengah jam dari sini = not bad half an hour from here. Lumayan (not bad) is a great word and will also often get a laugh
I'll try remember "Tukang" and "lumayan" as they're very handy words for me to know considering what the videos are - thanks, I appreciate it. Yes, the family here where i stay would probably laugh at the concept of a western kampung. Thanks Daniel!
Visa run. 😀 glad you’re coming back. Bali is certainly a special place. Take care. Enjoy Australia - where about in Australia are you from?
Hi Aly. I'm from Perth so it's not a huge inconvenience being only a three and a half hour flight. Cheers.
Nice mister your videos.welcome to indon.
Hi joko. Thanks for the welcome. Cheers.
Hey Wayne
Glad you’re going back to Bali. Really enjoying your Vlogs . Hey where did you learn Bahasa?
Hey Things. I wrote palm cards initially and tried to remember the words before assaulting the Indonesian population with attempt sat speaking it. :) Glad you're enjoying the vids, Things. Cheers.
Wayne, thank you for your great vids and intriguing interviews of the local people.
Tell me if you will, do you only get a ticket to Bali and then buy when you wish to leave… hearing different things and my plans are slow travel so do not know where the next country would be….
Thanks
Tony 🇦🇺
Hi Tony. To extend your visa on arrival you're required to show an onward ticket. If I''m not sure how long I'm going to be in Indonesia I'll get a one way ticket then if needed I'll purchase another one. Sometimes if I'm not sure where is next but still require the onward ticket to show for the visa extension, I'll buy a Medan-Kuala Lumpur one way ticket for $30-$50 which is the cheapest ticket out of the country I know of to show just for visa extension purposes. I'll eventually make up my mind where's next and then buy a ticket, always ensuring of course never to overstay an Indonesian visa. One has to be very careful here with some airlines requiring you show an onward ticket before you actually board to Indonesia.Hope this helps.
@ - thank you - appreciate that info on getting a KL ticket just to have an ongoing ticket for the purpose. Going to head to Bali 2025 and then just follow my nose for a while to explore and take in Asian countries.
🙏 thank you
@@tonyf7997 No worries, Tony, following your nose is a great way to travel!
Bali is a good. Experience. In ever day. The more U see ? The more U want to understand.. .....
Selamat penglaris. .. Tuan .

Yeah, I think you're right. I'll try include more of the family who live here if I can. Cheers.

Thanks.
You could make your way to the north shore at lovina bali 😁😁 I want to go there but Sue says it's out of her comfort zone.🤥 But i think its because she knows I'm going to make her swim with the dolphins 🐟🦈 If you show us the human side of the place as you do, I may be able to use it on her
When i get back i'll try to get to Lovina for you, forbaldo. Hope it goes well.
@@fiascodagama1 Lovina is a nice sleepy town. You haven't really been to Bali if you haven't seen the enormous cheesy dolphin statue there at least once. Amed is a great place too. I rode a scooter from Kuta through Ubud then around the north coast, highly recommend it (you have to really have your wits about you all the time though). Great vid as usual by the way. If you're ever stuck for other destination ideas i highly recommend Luang Prabang then surrounding countries, so much eye candy and so many nice folk around there.
@@dummekunst7708 Thanks for the tips.A scooter ride around the island is a lot of fun as I recall but as you say, you have to be alert! Good to see you, dk.
Cheap tickets to Malaysia for a visa run mate😊
Couple of things I've got to attend to in Perth just quickly. But yeah, Bali-KL and the like can be had at very reasonable prices.
How much time does it take you to edit 1 video? Thnx in advance
Hi Mel. It takes two or three hours to edit each video. Cheers.

@@melbarot No, just imovie on a mac air. My little vids are very straight forward and don't use any effects, color grading etc.
@@fiascodagama1 Wow!!! Thnx for sharing. You are a gem 💎 of a person. If you ever visit Mumbai, India. I would be happy to show you around
@@fiascodagama1 what are you filming with? the clarity and smoothness compared to other bali vids stands out.
Ive been to Bali 4 times .I thought i would do something different and learn a little Balinese language which is hard to do as there is not a lot of info on it..When i went over i discovered that good percentage of the Balinese population doesnt understand Balinese as they are from Java Sumatra Timor etc.Stll if was worth the effort just to converse a little with the true locals.
Hi Paul. Many Balinese I've found speak a little Indonesian which makes for some simple conversations as you say. And it sure is worth the effort to learn a little if you come here occasionally and have the time. Cheers, Paul.
Hello from CA. Great video. Indonesians age slower because they have more collagen and thicker skin. Genes.
Your on vacation in Ubud with great spirit. Looking forward 2 more videos. No place like Ubud, easy with interesting people!
