    I never heard Lorrie sing this before. I think it's a great tribute to Keith. He was a magnificent talent with a big problem. Small minds will blame Lorrie for him drinking but seriously... you can't force someone to drink! Lorrie really does have a great voice. Thanks for posting this

    This is one of the greatest country ballads of all time and Lorrie does a beautiful job on it. It means even more considering Keith's iconic version.

    Somebody will always have something negative to say. Just because they can't be as good as her or the band.... So sad that people have to leave negative comments. But you can't please all the people all the time. I love it. I have listened to this song a million times. I should practically own the song by now. I have downloaded so many times to listen to. Lol. Awesome. Brilliant. Sensational. Wowzers. Thank you for sharing this video. Lots of love from the uk. Ex south african.

      I just read the comments and didn't find any derogatory comments about Lorrie. I'm a huge fan of hers and Keith for that matter. I know people write a lot of ignorant things about her on other videos I have seen. I dare say the majority of the comments are from women who are green with envy at posts regarding her phenomenal beauty and talent. Granted, most women aren't as well versed with the marriage routine as Lorrie is but life's not perfect nor are people. I for one thank you for putting this video on and would advise you to ignore the minority of small minds who for one reason or another can't appreciate Lorrie's talent.

      sivlenora100 I know that you don't see any derogatory comments about Lorrie on my this video or any of my video's because I have them marked where I have to approve them first because there are a lot of ppl in the world that have made very derogatory comments about Lorrie and I have been huge fan of both Lorrie and Keith from day one. I thank you very much for very kind comment you welcome to comment anytime! :)

    Thank you for sharing this video of Lorrie Morgan singing her husband's song, TexasDoodleBug3. She did a beautiful job honoring him. I wonder if it was as healing for her to sing his song as I'm sure it was painful. I love Lorrie Morgan and I have a lot of her cd's and her autobiography. It's so sad that Keith Whitley died so young. He had so much talent and could sing beautifully. With their singing careers, both Keith and Lorrie were destined for greatness, especially together. I believe Keith was her soulmate and she'll be with him again someday and they'll sing together for eternity.

    Keith's death made us all loose. We lost without a doubt years of the best music that could have ever been recorded by along with George Jones the best male vocals, and with Lorrie a duet team that could easily matched George and Tammy. I just read Lorrie's book and like most, wondered if she was the cause of Keith's drinking. Always a fan of hers but now I know the truth.She told the truth the good and the bad but you could feel her love for Keith and she wrote with class! Lorrie is a classy woman with awsome vocals. I put her as far as talent with the Tammys, Dollys, and Lorrettas. Seen a couple of her families reality show then it was off. TV please put it back on. Love You Lorrie

    She was a young mother with two children that needed a working parent. He was an alcoholic-- whom she never left-- because she said "he was good to me"-- yet she gets no credit for staying with a depressed, alcoholic that let her down many times. That doesn't make him a bad person-- he was in pain-- but that started long before her. But, she was good to him too. No one ever mentions how he was on the road as she gave birth to their first child. She wasn't Keith's sitter-- she was his wife. She had two young children to support-- and she was 30 years old with a record label pressuring her to perform-he should have understood that more than anyone. They lived in a small house with two little children- he was JUST making it-- I'm positive they needed the money.
    Give her a break-- no one put that bottle to his mouth but him. I'm sure that there is nothing that she regrets more than not being there- and people can blame anybody they like-- she can even blame herself. But in the end, we are all responsible for our choices-- he choose to booze, snort, and take pills. She didn't do that to him-- he did. there are no "lies"-she was working- like mothers that love their kids and their husbands do. What was he doing? Was he doing what fathers that love their kids and their wives do?
    She did the best she could at the time. That is the human condition--no one knows what is around the corner. God bless her and her babies.

    Lorrie was on the road when he passed. I ran into him out on Dickerson Rd the last night of his life. He was fine. Stone cold sober and alone. We waved and that was that. I was shocked but really not surprised when I heard the news on WSM later the following day. I really hate it when people comment that Lorrie and her ways killed Keith. Sorry folks, Keith' s ways killed Keith. What people don t know is that Keith' s agents had signed a list of show dates. Failure to appear clauses , pay back.

    Forgive me, this may take 2 or 3 post. For those that don t know, Alcohol addiction is as bad as crack addiction. I know because I walk in the shoes of alcohol addiction. Have for the past 30 years. But, on stage you would have never known it. I also ran across the alley on a few Saturday nights to have a few at Tootsies before or between shows. Yes, I was a singer with a couple of hits. Big damn deal in the grand scheme of things. I knew Keith. Not well, but to say hello when we saw each other.

    Love this video! Is Lorrie playing Keith's guitar? I'm wondering because it looks a lot like the guitar he's playing in the video of the same song: Keith Whitley-"Don't Close Your Eyes" (Live-1989)

    • @johnwarren1174
      @johnwarren1174 10 років тому

      Lorrie is playing a Takamine. The guitar company has been around a while but Keith was a Fender Fan for electric guitars and for acustic guitars he leaned toward Martins and Gibsons. Keith, has a nearly life long frindship with Ricky Scaggs and they both played together in Ralph Stanly's Bluegrass band. Im pretty sure the Takamine guitar was not a popular item in the USA when Keith was alive. During the 80's, Takamine guitars looked and sounded so much like Martin Guitars, the Martin Corp. wrote a letter to Takamine, although no lawsuit was filed, Takamine changed the look of their acustic guitars to what is thier signature look today. I am 100% positive the guitar Lorrie is playing in the vidio did not exist when Keith died. On another note, I know Lorrie has some of Keith's guitars still.

    IMO Lorrie does a very nice job with this song but I really believe it was meant to be sang by a guy with a deep voice. Maybe that is because I first heard it by Keith.
