You can magnetize the sides of the floor tiles if you split them into two piles (one for each axis of the grid) and use different polarities for each pile. Make your life simple with a tester also. Hot glue a magnet (polarity doesn't matter) to a thin strip of chipboard so you can verify the polarity of the side magnets. When finished, the floor tiles should magnetize together also.
Yeah, you can definitely do that. Now you know I love magnets, but I'm just trying to simplify things so you don't have to have stack "a" and stack "b" of tiles... Cool idea though.

Thank you Jarrett. It’s a passion of mine and I’m happy to share it with those that are interested in watching :). Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well!
Looks awesome and usefull in homegames. A problem i find is tha you need a one inch gap between rooms and modules usually don’t have this. So you need to modify the whole dungeon.
The tip of the longer wire 'knife' is always cooler than the shorter one, but you could have used the length of the long one to do most of each line with one press! They're really designed for cutting using the side of the wire. The shorter ones definitely work better for carving details. A variable temperature soldering iron with a fine tip would work, but use an old tip you don't love. The biggest issue I have with my Thermocut is the less then 6" cutting height, so you couldn't use it to slice thicker foam down (I usually work with 20mm foam, which is thick enough for two tiles. So I built another one with a 12" clearance!
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT They're pretty simple to build. I built this while I was waiting for my Proxon, so it has a largeish table and plenty of space between the wire and the frame for larger pieces.
Love these. You're right. The secret is really with making the walls modular.. what size magnets are you using. I have a tough time with magnets. Not only due to polarity but how small they are and being fiddley i my finger tips. You made it look a lot easier than they can be.
Thank you jimeronimo. The exact magnets can be found in the video description via the Amazon links. As far as polarity, use one craft "in this case a tile" as your standard go to, to check polarity. That way all your tiles will be interchangable.
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT I saw you doing that with the magnet but when I go to pick them up with my fingers it's easy for them to come out of my grasp or flip the wrong way. Drives me nuts.. lol. That size might be a whole lot easier.. thanks.. Jim
@@jimeronimo Use a putty knife or a small clay sculpting tool to slide the magnet onto. Then transfer it to the craft with the hot glue. It won’t move on you, and it will keep the polarity correct :)
Great Ideas! The versatility is amazing, and of course your exacting detail is phenomenal! Can't wait to try it out. I might even try some Underdark Obsidian cave walls too. Inspired!
I've burned out 2 of these exact same pens, recently switched to a cheap soldering iron with variable heat control (down to 180c) which I find loads better. It also comes with 5 different heads.

This looks sick. Going to try this at some point "when I have time"? 9:26 I wonder if all of those little bits would look good/work as crazy texture for something if you just spread glue evenly on a surface first, then either sprinkle them or spread them so they're even ish? Great video! Thank you for all the great ideas - these tiles are most excellent :)
You got it ! Thank you :)
I love the look and idea. You really can do anything with it. I'm wanting to do a mine for a future campaign. Something like this would be cool. Great video as always.
Thanks! Yes, Tim these are so versatile. Couple these with some of the scatter terrain and the cave exit I just released today and you're all set!
The scatter terrain came out great too. I'm about to watch today's video...can't wait to see it 👍
@@timred855 Enjoy :)
You never cease to amaze me with the thought that you clearly put into your videos. I am always so impressed, you are by far one of the best youtubers when it comes to custom creation out of xps foam. Cheers to you. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Thank you Jarrett. It’s a passion of mine and I’m happy to share it with those that are interested in watching :). Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well!
This was really brilliant! Just getting into crafting this year and I love your modular concept! I appreciate the great info! :)
You got it Doug, thanks for watching.
Looks awesome and usefull in homegames. A problem i find is tha you need a one inch gap between rooms and modules usually don’t have this. So you need to modify the whole dungeon.
Oh, I definitely took some great ideas from this video. Thanks a lot!
Awesome... glad to hear it :) !
These are amazing. Excellent work. It gave me some inspiration. I am about to tackle a cave tile project and this helped me ou.
Excellent, happy to hear it. Thank you.
A Hotwire cutter with 12” clearance... awesome!
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT They're pretty simple to build. I built this while I was waiting for my Proxon, so it has a largeish table and plenty of space between the wire and the frame for larger pieces.
Wow! Those really look great!
Thank you Jacob!
brilliant stuff as ever
Thank you Peter :)
Looks amazing and I think you are really on to something. Keep up the great work.
I think so too. It's a really efficient tile system for sure.
Man, grat build! I think i can do some with card board... :D
Thank you. Give it a shot!
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT Yes. I will. We don't have the xps foam here in Brazil the way you guys have, so we improvised hehee
Nicely done. I just learned a few new tricks ,ty!
Anytime, thanks for watching!
Very creative and looks fantastic! Great work as always!
Thank you Ken 🤘
This is an extremely amazing tutorial!
Thank you!!!
Phenomenal - wonderful idea. Well done, thank you for sharing.
Thank you :).
I love this, it looks so cool. Wow I’m just so loving this. An it helped me with an idea so thank you. Stay safe looking forward to your next video!
Thank you Christina, I'm glad the video helped you out :) You stay safe as well!
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT thanks for the tip. Appreciate that.
Great Ideas! The versatility is amazing, and of course your exacting detail is phenomenal! Can't wait to try it out. I might even try some Underdark Obsidian cave walls too. Inspired!
Thank you Lance, those Underdark walls sound really cool! Feel free to share them on my FB if you make them!
Your project ideas are just so cool!
Thank you Leathurkatt :) !!!
This is absolutely amazing.
I NEED to make some of these.
Right on EPIC SAWIKI !! Go for it. These get so much use at my game table!!!
I've burned out 2 of these exact same pens, recently switched to a cheap soldering iron with variable heat control (down to 180c) which I find loads better.
It also comes with 5 different heads.
Yeah I don’t use them anymore. Hotwire Foam Factory has amazing tools. Check out my website for a discount. Under channel affiliates. www.tabletopwitchcraft.com
This is a great tutorial, i have worked on my own version of these following your lead, thank you for putting this video together, it's my first terrain project and i'm pretty excited with with my work in progress. I'm curious as to how 'tall' the single wall tiles are?
I'm glad you found the video helpful! All the walls are 2" tall.
very effective and great looking, I realy need to have a go at making things with foam =)
Go for it !! Thanks 🤘
Amazing and inspiring. Just awesome. Well done that man.
Thank you Entropy :) I'm glad you liked the video.
Awesome job 👍
Thank you 👍
This looks sick. Going to try this at some point "when I have time"?
9:26 I wonder if all of those little bits would look good/work as crazy texture for something if you just spread glue evenly on a surface first, then either sprinkle them or spread them so they're even ish? I think that could look really sick.
Thank you. I get a lot of use out of this set. Yeah that would be cool to challenge yourself with a creation from those bits.
