i think the only time comic sans is crappy design is when it's used somewhere where it does NOT match the rest of the design aesthetic, like, at all.
Like that police car that said "making a difference" in comic sans, including the quotation marks.
Unfortunately, It's hard to find anything professional where it does fit the aesthetic. It's fine if you're doing something kid-friendly or comic book related though.

3:50 That design is used on purpose in hospital dementia wards lifts. Patients with diamentia tend to wonder around and get lost. This system helps to prevent them going from floor to floor. This system is quite common to see in Scotland's hospitals. It's really weird at first but you quickly get used to it.

Like-boost this, I came here to say that.
I was about to say it myself, I don’t have dyslexia but i find it much easier to read then most fonts.
About the Comic Sans font, as someone who is officially diagnosed with autism, I found this font very surprisingly easy to read and when I typed on my computer when I was in school more than a decade ago, I’ve used Comic Sans and also I don’t have dyslexia so in my opinion, the sign that read "défibrillateur" in Comic Sans is not a crappy design and for people with dyslexia or with some problems to read but are not dyslexic, it’s actually a great design and it’s very easy to read for absolutely EVERY people that past in front of it if they need an emergency in case of someone having a heart attack on the street.
Exactly why I love comic sans- I can read it so easily and it just kinda feels ✨funky✨

I have always liked it aswel. I think it's quite easy to read and is pleasing on the eyes. It feels alot more soft.
You went to school? 😂 They failed you. You managed to turn your life story in to a run-on sentence. Who are you arguing with by saying comic sans is easy to read? How is your autism relevant? The narrator says "it's easy to read" plenty of times in the video.
I'm not an expert on such things, I heard it through the grapevine from some people, but it feels true.
Comic Sans is meant to be a dyslexia friendly font. Robin was right when he said it's a really legible font, and with that means its dyslexia friendly. A lot of fonts made for people with dyslexia are locked behind paywalls, and Comic Sans being free makes it really accessible.
I agree that it looks awful, but it's not for someone like me who doesn't have dyslexia, so I don't really care.

I don't think it was specifically made for dyslexic ppl tho some ppl find it helpful. If I'm remembering right it was made for Microsoft Bob and it looks very nice when it only has like 3 pixels.
I have dyslexia (I got therapy for it so it's not very significant for me), I think the defib label looks like a disgusting clutter of letters.
And I would love to attack with my nails. I wish they hadn't made it all uppercase, lol and the kerning seems a little off too?

Another great dyslexia-friendly font is Lexend.
Cantarell is also good.
Comic Sans is not than bad a font, its one of the ONLY sans serif fonts that I can read with my dyslexia. Serifs make individual letters easier to distinguish, but comic sans also is easy to tell letters apart. Put comic sans everywhere idgaf if people get mad, I need to able to read!
im not dyslexic but rather severely shortsighted and can confirm, a lot of other fonts feel like a total jumble if im without my glasses but with comic sans even if i don't see the letters clearly i can easily guess what they are

TBF as a trainee teacher I was told Comic Sans was very legible for people with learning difficulties as well.
I honestly never understood the hate of Comic Sans, I like it.
- It's a sans font (which I think looks nicer unless you want to be fancy)
- It's normal font is bolder so it's easy to read and not get lost in lines of text (Like I can clearly scan the paper and see every word)
- It's round so it looks natural
I've been told it's easier to read if you have dyslexia too.
I think it's mostly because it doesn't look serious.
So seeing it on professional equipment is a bit startling.
That and Sans Undertale.
If I'm not mistaken Comic Sans was created to look like a comic font style. Which is why it's very hated by designers like me. Because it's not a serious businnes font since it was created to look like something you'd see printed in a comic. Let's be honest, Comic Sans and Segoe Script were my jam when I was 13 years old creating a wacky word document to be less boring for school. Was it good? Absolutely not. As I stated in another comment I now am obsessed with the vision font family which is a classis Sans Serif font with character but still pretty plain and simple. It's jazzier than a regular Times New Roman or Helvetica or Arial. But still looks profesh as hell. I used it on some assignments and even on some book cover design and it's a really nice classy font for being free to use.

Most designers I know don't have an issue with comic sans for this reason. Sometimes making sure everyone is actually able to read it is more important than what it looks like
You know what you also can do? Make it all capitals. BOOM, PERFECT COMIC FONT. It's not called comic sans for no reason!

Comic sans isn’t that bad though? It’s a lot easier for me to read than other fonts but that’s just because I can’t read- it’s better than times new Roman at least
I'm in the Geography and Cartography sector. I make maps professionally. Not cool ones (professionally), but more for businesses or think interactive like Google maps. I had to take a class for Cartography for my degree. We had an entire section on fonts. Lines, spacing, you name it. Because of its readability Comic Sans is considered a font of choice. Robin is very right on this! Maps need to use two fonts minimum (and sometimes maximum) to make a distinction between features - A Serif font and a Sans Serif font. Because Comic Sans became a meme, Tahoma is now the font of choice for Cartography. So you actually might see older maps (late 90s-2010s) with Comic Sans!

One thing I like about Comic Sans is that it includes a lot of the diacritic marks used in other European languages, and it's even compatible with the Greek and Cyrillic scripts. Just... why did it have to be Comic Sans?
Plus, that advantage is also shared by more professional-looking, but sadly also overused, fonts like Arial and Times New Roman.
Oh my I fkn hate Arial font, just despise it to unholy levels. Everything is better, even Papyrus and Comic Sans, just don't use the damn Arial.

Everywhere I go I see the four horsemen of fonts: Arial, Helvetica, Calibri, Times New Roman.
I personally very much enjoy using Comic Sans in art and personal stuff, while using a similar style font for more formal settings as a title font, and in PowerPoints I have no choice but to use Calibri. But yeah, Comic Sans is the best free font out there.

As someone who works in cleaning and overal janitorial duty, re-stocking those toilet paper dispensers are a total pain. But it sure beats having someone stealing the toilet rolls for laughs, or taking an entire toilet roll and shoving it down the toilet to clog it.
Comic Sans is especially easy to read for dyslexic people, they've done studies. The other good font for that is papyrus, would you rather have papyrus spring up everywhere

10:52 I used to have that and I used it quite a bit. Surprisingly, yeah, it does work pretty well. If you fill it with water, it stays putt, and you can hit the ball pretty hard, and it'll come right back to you. The wire is a liiiittle flimsy, but overall it was actually, surprisingly, a pretty good product. If you see this, Robin, I'd give it a 7/10

The one that's missing Mexico probably meant to separate out Central America, but that's not an official continent, just a geographic region.
4:16 supposed to be "Common Address". They ordered the letters too big so they stuck the double letters above/below it. Honestly would've been less confusing if they put the letters either all above or all below where they were supposed to go, but these are people who chose to use oversized letters in the first place instead of ordering new ones that are the right size.

I suck at everything, so I'm glad seeing comic sans slowly being used more. Sure, it's goofy, there's an entire character based around its goofiness, but it's super friendly to people who struggle with reading, don't want to tear their eyes out trying to figure out your lobster ass font, or just like simple stuff. I like it. Nothing needs to be complicated to the point where people with disorders that hinder their reading can't fucking use it.

You always drive in a thumbtack with your thumb alone, and that's why it's called a thumbtack. The thing shown in this video is a pushpin, not a thumbtack. And it's not a good pushpin because you have to use your fingernails to pull it out. The whole point of a pushpin is that you can remove more easily than a tack, but this one is not so easy.
I believe that the QR code at 14:00 may, *may*, actually be readable as the format supports some crazy level of redundancy precisely to be able to withstand damage. I have no clue how frequently people use that feature though.

There are several at the place I work and they are forever jamming up and losing the paper inside, so you need the key to open the dispenser up and re-feed the paper through that hole. Thats not the most anoying part about them though, its prepping the roll to go in there in the first place. Center feed toilet paper rolls still come on those cardboard spools, you have to rip those things OUT before you can install them. They have a 'tear line' stamped into them but they *NEVER* tear along that line. Totaly deserve to be in crappy design.

It’s because wherever this is, the owner of the location is a cheap bastard who thinks their employees are stealing the toilet paper, I would also bet money that the tp is single ply that with fall apart halfway through the crack causing you the come up with a brown stain all down you palm

I'm visually impaired so I don't have a privlwm worh comic sans. I do have a problem with this trend of pastel printing on pastel packaging tho. Is it shampoo? Body lotion? Face wash? Your guess is as good as mine!!
pretty sure comic sans is also dyslexia-friendly, so its not only a free font but its also one of the few free fonts that are easy for dyslexic people to read. because yes, people charge money to use _accessibility fonts!_ gotta love profit above all mentality :o)

I legitimately don't understand what the deal is with Comic Sans. If people think it is ugly, fine, but there are many ugly fonts. Why the fervor over this one specifically?
My guess is because people think it's overused, and does not fit professionally. And probably because Sand Unsertale.
As an artist/designer/creative/whatever, I think it has to do with how ubiquitous it is, where it's so common it's become boring and especially designers (or anyone who works with fonts on a regular basis) are so tired of seeing it. Objectively it's not particularly ugly, but it's like when you hear a decent song SO many times that it becomes annoying. The same happens for me with other overused generic fonts like papyrus, trajan pro, brush script, lucida, kristen, etc. Plus comic sans does look out of place in very professional contexts simply because it's a handwriting font, so it being used in quite a few professional examples doesn't do it any favours.
People don't want to read Comic Sans, and I'm over here like: "Font is Font!"
