  • Irish rockband Fontaines D.C. played their absolute breakthrough show during this years Best Kept Secret festival. Playing as sub-headliner for The Strokes showed the band ready for a proper headline spot the next time they will play the festival. Sagid Carter spoke to guitar player Conor Curly at the other side of the lake to talk about his favourite song to play live, how the band manages to survive touring and how they deliberately stepped away from the sound of Dogrel.

    What a great interviewer. What Curley said about “musicians reintroducing the same feelings over and over again” was so profound and it means that this band will never try to repeat something just because it was successfully received. This is the reason why I fell out of love for Muse’s music. It’s all about politics that it got sickening and repetitive.

    • @c.r.bouton1842
      @c.r.bouton1842 2 роки тому +20

      The politics never really bothered me with Muse, it was more about how they didn't talk about it intelligently or specifically that bothered me. It's annoying tbh

      that and how muse's quality of lyrics and songwriting in general fell off massively after The Resistance

    Every time I even remotely start to ‘hate’ what I’m doing, I remind myself that punching in and out at a factory was living hell. If you’re lucky enough to make a living at music, enjoy it. Suck it up and realize you live a privileged life. Yes, it’s hard work…but not a job.

    • @minutemanual
      @minutemanual 2 роки тому +7

      I disagree. Once the honeymoon period is over its just like any other job. Its not a constant party you have to really battle to get the gigs done. When its great its great but most of the time its a lot of minutiae that you have to power through. the privilege is creating and sharing with others. The tour is a very straining job. Harder than factory work thats for sure. I guarantee most touring musicians have many crisises where they strongly consider packing it all in and have to be convinced by many stakeholders to not do it and im sure it pushes peoples sanity to the limits. At that point the money and success starts to seem trivial

    • @glengamble526
      @glengamble526 2 роки тому +11

      @@minutemanual respectfully, I disagree. As a touring musician with I’ve 35 years experience, there’s not a day that passes that I’m not grateful for not being trapped in the 9-5 ‘other side’ of life.

    • @bitchyivyonvideo
      @bitchyivyonvideo 4 місяці тому +4

      i think its both. its not all parties, its exhausting, but overall anything with creative energy and human connection is going to be far, far better than an office job or 9 to 5. probably more mentally and physically confusing though, arguably
