OK I am older than most commenting but i will say that when I first saw Fontaines DC at Whelan's in Dublin, I was totally hooked. Grain reminded me of the first time I saw Jim Morrison at the Whisky-a-Go-Go in Los Angeles. The poet standing alone on the stage professing his words amid the music created by and surrounded by his band. the poet stands out. He and his words shine.
agreed. I am 53, saw them live last night (opener for Arctic Monkeys). I was babysitting my daughter at the concert, but I became a fan immediately! It reminded me of The Verve, whom I love, especially live!
Word! I am 59, in a post-punk band myself (drummer/vocalist) and I recently discovered these guys as well as Idles (both of whom I think are brilliant). I would KILL to see these guys perform here in Santa Fe or Albuquerque, and would KILL to open for them!...oh, and I am a woman who plays drums. BAM!
saw them a year ago at the end of summer playing a music festival in switzerland - that gig is stuck in my mind forever, it felt nearly surreal because there was so much energy there can`t even describe it
True. It's very cool of stupid H.S. and all the shit you're supposed to pretend you are!!! I'l loving this band!! and I'm an old gramma with lots of beautiful grandkids and my husband, who '"dig" all this amazing music!!! "Party On" you old "fogie's"!!!
Caught the Fontaines DC in Los Angeles at Prima Vera Fest & I can't believe how fresh they sounded!! Really enjoyed their set, cant wait to see them again!

@@vibes..585 Just seeing your comment. What exactly would you like for me to say? Perhaps I meant it sounded like a romantic voice compared to us in the states! That was 2 years ago! I take it that this comment stirs up sentiment between us the Americans and those living in Europe! So far, Europe wins on that the Americans accents are more bizzare and weird! Okay, I can go with that! Thanx, to remind me of that crazy comment I made over 2 years ago! Was the comment so bizzare you felt the need to comment? Okay! Later!! Maybe I said something you like, but I don't know!
I used to think BIMM was a Billy Barry stage school for idiots. How wrong I was. If you are 20 years of age and into music, you are in a very bad way - no investment, no labels, everyone out to rip you off the second you play live. I have come to realise that BIMM is like getting a good producer on board, because most producers have been made redundant. Some of those excellent producers and musicians actually work at BIMM, so in a way, it's like getting the guidance from a good producer and a 21st Century way of meeting like minded musicians - in the 1980s you'd get studio time and investment from a label after you pinned your "bass player wanted" A4 adverts on the steps of Freebird records. This is the new way, and some of the good guys are at BIMM telling these young bands the pitfalls and more importantly, the people to avoid.

Yeah, I’m impressed too!

The more I learn about this band the more I like them.
I try to learn about them a little at a time, but after a few minutes end up watching them perform Big on KEXP, and that's me ready to tackle the day.
Malheureusement tant de mouton ecoutes Coldplay harry style et hozier
FDC are a serious breath of fresh air in a stale and stagnant world of commercial packaged tripe. Very articulate lads.

Very smart and elequent young man
They’ve made a shift w romance. Just seen their gig in Dublin and it was amazing but their lyricism still shines
saw this band live at the wiltern in LA earlier last month, they put on such a great performance, cant wait to see them again
one of the best interviews I've seen of Grian - Thanks for asking the right questions!!!
All of the members of FDC seem intelligent, wise old souls. This bodes very well for their future.

Nice. I'm from Dublin myself not too far from where Grians from, havent caught them live yet but they're next on the list.
I'm seeing these guys live this year and I couldn't be any more thrilled.
Been to many punk gigs and fontains at the barrowlands Glasgow was more lively then 75% of them. Such a good live act. Absolutely class ❤
Fantastic, thanks for this

The look on Johns face at the end of the interview. He knows he's in the presence of 'the boy'.
Nice one for uploading this
One smart cookie, for sure.
Great stuff -- I'm late to the party as always!
Nah man , I just heard them for the first time last week 😅
@ welcome to the party!
I like feeling a bit scatterbrained myself that's how some creative ideas do creap in. Love it, ar an gcroithe go deo
I'm an American so hearing his Dublin dialect is wild!!
American accents are more bizarre and weird
It's almost like a seperate country 5,000 miles across the atlantic has a different sounding accent!
Hi..What do you find wild about it ?

It is a bit of a Billy Barry school to be fair. But every now and then someone like grian is bound to randomly go there
I love grian more after watching this ❤

Fontaines D.C. came from Bimm? does that make Bimm cooler or Fontaines D.C. less cool?

Joy Division Cosplay
Every post-punk band is inspired by Joy Division, for obvious reasons.
@@ourkidof91 Im only being a prick I love Fontaines D.C.
@@IrishPablo94 fair enough fella, sorry for the snarky response.
I know you’re joking but i do think he looks a bit like Ian Curtis

What a boring interview 🤣
