  • I counted the votes on Facebook polls - and at least the roofers surveyed, more said they thought Malarkey was the highest quality shingle than any other Shingle out there. I have no affiliation with Malarkey whatsoever - just sharing what I saw from roofers. So I asked why that might be the case, and they shared some demonstrations with me! Very fun experience at Roofing Process conference.

Dang and I had my heart set on the Vista line! In Missouri are storms worsen by the year, wind and hail (not to mention threat of tornado)! Our summers get hotter and hotter, seen recent year with heat index nearing 118 outside so can't imagine what roof would be. Geezo I hate to read these comments on Malarkey. Guess I am back to heavier regular type Landmark or CT Northgate. OMG ugh

Got malarkey legacy shingles installed in 2017 had a couple of hail storms since then and they are holding up well for hail. That being said they are defective because the are falling apart, I guess they had a bunch of bad batches back then. Filled a claim in June 2023 have heard nothing from them even though they sent out an inspector. Decided to call and got some guy in the warranty dept who seamed perturb that he had to talk to me and basically gave me no update about when I might get my roof fixed. I live in Colorado and the winters here are a little tough and these shingles are falling apart and cracking everywhere and I will hold them accountable for any damage that might occur inside my house from their junk shingles.

You should see what happens to a certainteed shingle if you did that stomp test! They shed granules like a dog sheds hair

Would be nice to know which other brands you were testing against because if they are cheap junk, then this is not a fair comparison

Impressive. I was expecting to see some granules fall off after you stomped on the shingle.

Not sure if it's the best. I have a 7 year old Malarkey legacy with flexor technology. hadn't clean a portion of gutters in that time because of the height. Hired someone to clean them out and the reason they were clogged was because of all the granules. Didn't have a hail storm during that time.

@@HookAgency Got hit with some Colorado 2" hail. Will see what my roofer friend says when he inspects it later this week.

My friend examine the entire roof and everything is in great shape. The loose granule is normal loss he said. So the Legacy shingles performed really great. So maybe it is the best shingle on the market.

@@HookAgencyUpdate. A month later after my roofer examine the roof, my painter notice big cracks all over the shingles. The roofer came back and said these weren't here before. After about 6 months of first me dealing with Malarkey and then my roofing company dealing with them, they are going to send me a check for full roof replacement including labor. Hopefully this one will last. Next roof replacement after this I will go with Owens corning brand. Hopefully not for a long while.

Would not ever use these again. They turn to mush above 70 degrees, very fragile when cooler, that stomp test is bs. No way I could do that with these Legacy shingles and not have damage. Something has changed with manufacturing because this shingle is nowhere near the what's in the video. Roofing company just did a 3rd roof(of 3) damaged by hail. They tracked them all up in the heat and had to redo about 10 squares. They were pissed. I removed a 50 year Elk shingle from these roofs and it was still a more substantial shingle than these Malarkeys and it's 23 years old. Won't use this garbage on my roofs again. The hype is around hail resistance but hail voids the warranty anyway so why not go with a more substantial shingle to start with?? Malarkey shingles are all hype-roofers in the area are reporting substantial quality issues and Malarkey didn't stand behind their products when they failed. My shingles came out of the OK City plant and they definitely have quality issues right out of the packaging.
