Some fruit I’ll like to see next: Dragon fruit, passion fruit, açaí berries, persimmon, mandarin, clementine, ponkan, star fruit, jabuticaba, sweet tomatoes, Brazilian cherry, casaba melon, kumquat and mulberry
I love almost every fruit here (with the exception of figs and dates) always buy various seasonal fruits for daily consumption. My favourites are cherries, peaches and raspberries for spring and summer, mandarin oranges, persimmon and pomegranate for autumn and winter

Can you do a video about how pesticides affect these qualities? It's hard to get my hands on any fruit that isn't full of pesticides. I also don't think that washing them gets rid of the problem
That star rating never made sense to me. Banana doesn't add much in terms of anti-oxidants and other phytosterols which are the compounds that make the healthiest fruit shine. It's relatively high in fast carbs, especially when (over) ripe. The B-tier makes sense (though it could also land on C): a lot healthier than a lot of foods people eat, but not your absolute healthiest fruit choice.
I am really curious as to where you got the number for the figs from, because all sources that I can find, including the FDA's page show only around 70 calories per 100g which is much more different that what you presented. I'm pretty sure you accidentally used the numbers that correspond to dried figs. It's not a terrible problem but that's not a small mistake I must say.
@@Talon_Fitness that's just your assumption. It's very unprofessional. it's like if you ranked potato a F on your vegetable list because you assume most people only eats it fried and pulled the nutrition facts out of McDonalds' site. You should had specified it in the description and specially should not have used the picture of a fresh fig.
Maybe in a future video you could make a tier list of the best combination of fruits and vegetables (like in a smoothie) so we can know the optimal combination of vitamins and minerals and other goodness from all the best combined.
That video could be 5 hours long, as there are many ways to make a smoothie due to a variety of factors. Just grab some ingredients based off the already made videos and get to taste testing. 🤷🏻♂️
You rock! I was shocked about avacado, bananas, pineapple, and kiwi were all shockers for their placement and my preconceived ideas about their nutrition. Thank you for the video.
I didn't think plums would score that far above nectarines and peaches. Along with apricots and strawberries, they are my staple summer fruits, so it's good to know they contain so many good nutrients.
once you've finished the entirety of foods, i think it would be interesting to see what foods from your tier lists you would consider in a good weekly diet! e.g. you choose certain foods based on affordability, hitting all essential nutrients, taste/flavour, etc
Not really, because the nutritional content of most mushrooms depends on the substrate or medium they grow in, so it varies depending on the grower, not necessarily the species.
cheese tier list is so useless. it's a snack. you can tell which ones healthy or not. + they're not even that different between all of them. (my opinion)
@@jacoubkh9665 Right, but he also listed cheeses out in his dairy list so I don’t really understand why all of these people want a tier list for everything. “Hey, can you make a soda tier list?!” 🙄
This whole tier is based on the assumption `sugar = bad` which is only true if you regularly eat things that contain a bunch of added sugar, like cereal, cookies and such. If you solely rely on fruit for your sugar intake, then high sugar fruits are heaven sent.
i would argue that watermelon is just edible water with some extras. it's very common here to eat lots of it in summer. i don't know if it's really hydrating, but at least it feels very refreshing :)
I would counter with that watermelon good for vasodilation and similar to iceberg lettuce which is mostly water too but very high in nitrates so both good for circulation.
I've juiced watermelons (after shaving off skin) and you get generally 1.2 to 2 gallons of watermelon juice depending on size. You also get very little refuse after juicing a watermelon so they're basically 99% water. IMO very hydrating.
The main thing I take away from these videos is how important variety is. I can get a lot of vitamin C from my citrus family, but also lycopene from tomatoes and watermelon, and melatonin from things like grapes, plus a lot of antioxidants from berries. Mix and match. I look at the list to try and get ideas for which foods I haven't had in a while that I should try and shop for or incorporate more frequently in my diet, with an emphasis on higher tiers but an occasional glance at the lower ones too.
I have a main grocery list that is the base of my diet, but I also have a wheel that randomly picks fruits/veggies so that I incorporate a wide variety into my diet
I think dates should be much higher, not only are they low in gi, but rich in nutrition and fibre and energy for exercise. Without dates, I would not have been able to give up candy
I would love a video where you try to make the ultimate smoothie. A perfect blend of as many micronutrients as possible. Just random bedtime thought in my head
This video is perfect! You attract all sorts of viewers and encourage them to eat more fruits. I eat a piece of fruit everyday and I really recommend it to everyone!
Many of the A-tier items are not really a food as such. No one can eat a bowl of raw cranberries, lemon or lime. But many of the B-tier items like bananas, oranges or watermelons can be eaten loads of at one time. So, in order to get the health benefits, I would say that some lesser fruit are superior, like bananas or mango, because they are not so hard to eat just like that. The tiers are not as important in the end as the "simple eatability" of the fruit.
These tier lists made it really easy for me to lose 40 pounds, (I'm at 5'8 160 now) just by eating only healthy food, I got so much more energy throughout the day now and I never feel hungry.
Why is a nutrition course, like this, NOT REQUIRED in high school?! This is EXTREMELY important for e everyone to know, especially at a young age. It literally directly changes your body AND BRAIN!
Kind of underestimated apples here. Has one of the most antioxidant activities in the fruit category. Also if you eat the core, you get a good dose of probiotics.
I believe natural sugars should be viewed differently from processed sugar. A fruit with a higher sugar content is essentially a supercharged fruit with an abundance of energy to fuel the body. If anything, and as an example, the date should be at the top of the list as it has an abundant nutrient profile including (natural) sugars. Sugar is a nutrient.
Damn right fruit sugar is good for you. Nwah's be thinking fructose is bad for them. Fructose is only bad for you if you are trying to limit your weight. If you are worried about being fat have a smoothie or fresh fruit with plenty of fiber. I've never met someone in my life who got fat off of fruit.
All the sugar eaten is natural sugar that has been processed. The moment you dry a fruit, you process the natural product into a more dense, consumable form. That's why dates are low on the list - they give lots of sugar with mediocre amounts of nutrients for the sugar content.
@themonsoon117 The comparisons are not the same. It's like saying tomato sauce and sundried tomato are of a similar quality when in fact they are entirely different. This video has made comparison based on overall nutrient profile and the levels of any given nutrient. The dates is a great performer in all categories and is outstanding in natural sugar. The video concurred that high natural sugars are problematic for many people so therefore the date was considered lower on the scale. This is false and if followed with the original essence of the video the date would be top tier without exception.
@@airrunner85 I developed a sensitivity to all sugars but fructose. I get migraines from too much sugar. I have to make sure I eat enough so I don't get a headache from that either but I'll tell you fructose is much safer. If you eat a bunch of fructose it doesn't leave you feeling dead like cane sugar and corn syrup. And when you are craving sugar your body desires fruit not Snickers.
I feel like so many blogs and websites just spin a wheel with all fruits on it to pick their next "superfood" to write a clickbait article about for the week, so its really nice to finally see a nice comparison between all them!
Very cool. I personally always thought apples and citrus fruits are top tier but they are just average in the fruit world. But I was most surprised by Pumpkin offering this much.
Need the milk tierlist!!!!! please!!! I've been trying different nut milks out, but none of them seem to compare to regular milk. Would be curious to see what your rankings are.
I tried to do the same thing. Found out they are highly processed ingredients. You're better off with the best grass fed milk you can get or just drink more water. I barely drink milk anymore. Humans really aren't meant to drink milk as adults. Its all bad for you. But in moderation, if you're just having a few glasses a week I'm sure you'll be fine.
Strawberries and blueberries are a match made in Heaven since the Strawberries supply a high amount of Vitamin C while Blueberries supply higher amounts of antioxidants 😊

You should do a tier list video on sugars/sweeteners like white sugar, brown sugar, cane sugar, stevia, erythritol, aspartame, and so on. Great video by the way!.
I understand it sounds like such a cool idea but I’ll keep it simple for you. All sugars that hold a caloric value are in the F tier. The other sweeteners that hold no caloric value are also in the F tier. None of them contain any micronutrients. Easy 🤝🏼
Omg i just realized you can taste oxalates. Cranberries and fresh spinach are both high in this and leave a dry taste in your mouth. I also googled it to confirm
Please do a tier list on protein sources like different sources of supplement proteins like pea, whey & soy and more natural proteins like beans, beef, turkey, eggs, etc.
Overall a very good tierlist. I have a few i would change. Lime and lemons imo should go in the b tier due to the facut that you cant really eat them like you would eat another fruit since they are very sour. Bananas really deserve an A tier, they are one of the best source of carbs, also a good source of magnesium. Raspberries are literally the most micronutrient dense fruit in the world, putting them below blueberries is a little unfair. Also tomatoes and eggplant which is not here should be in the b tier, they are great but since they are nighshades they have some downsides when consumed in larger quantities
Plant based proteins sources would all fall into C tier or lower. C might even be too nice because only animal protein is a complete protein. If you don't want to eat meat, that's cool, but at least eat pasture eggs (S tier) or raw cheese.
@@happytotrollincorrect, there are compleat plantbased Proteins and one can do a lot with combining! banana on a dai-ly! tasty, don't really need to be choosy about it and it is extremely consistent as opposed to oranges, easy to peel and no hassle with seeds, stems and such as opposed to apples ad pretty much anything else, almost never goes bad and you don't even need to wash it, can eat it in any situation, for example with dirty hands.
@@AcidLightning i'm guessing that there're two major factors. first, if the banana is ripe enough - there is some fermentation going on that breaks down starches and getting the banana from green to yellow. second, the amount of fiber you get. so maybe if you eat alot and/or you eat greenish bananas then they can lead to constipation. plus, your individual microbiom (not literally yours, but of a person) may be the culprit so to speak.
My favorite fruit is mulberry, and I don't think it'll make the list because it's basically only available to those who live where it's wild or grow it themselves because the fruit is too fragile to ship. Edit: I was correct. Though I'm sad neither persimmon nor pawpaw made it on this list, I presume he selected for items readily available in shops.
You are a national treasure! My health could be better for sure - so based off of your nutrient list, I am forming the top foods my body seems to need. If you created a book with these lists, I would buy it. Thank you so much!!! I have made some different choices after going through your nutrient explanations.

I was hoping Raspberries would also be top tier since they also contain a large amount of Urolithin A similar to pomegranate which slows cell aging and aging as a whole
I think it would be useful to identify which of the fruits you're listing are fresh versus dried. Also, if the nutrients include skin on would be helpful.
So happy to have found this series! Had been trying to find this sort of data myself, but without knowing much about it being able to tier it would have been extremely time-consuming. I also have two questions/suggestions - it could be worth mentioning the affect of cooking on nutritional content of things like fruits and veggies. Plus a video on spices! This may be too time-consuming, but it would be cool to see something similar to MyPlate, but more in depth/based on nutritional content rather than just x amount of fruits and veggies. For example, unlikely as this is, if someone preferred eating carrots and pumpkin as their primary fruit and veggie every week, it wouldn't be very balanced, despite both those foods being very healthy and technically covering two different food groups according to MyPlate.

My fruit obsessions is the only thing that prevents me from going keto diet, but im happy the way it is. Hope more ppl find their delight in consuming fresh fruits and vegetables. Cheers
2 fruits a day is never enough
why type a's like fruit?
4kg?? How do you fit that in on a day to day?
@@amorelela well per week its not that much. 2 apples a day and something extra as well. May that be a banana, orange, tangerine… u name it 👍
Some fruit I’ll like to see next: Dragon fruit, passion fruit, açaí berries, persimmon, mandarin, clementine, ponkan, star fruit, jabuticaba, sweet tomatoes, Brazilian cherry, casaba melon, kumquat and mulberry

You've done a great job with all these videos. I am watching the full run. Thank you!
Amazing. Someone has probably suggested this but how about a herbs and spices list in the future?
Yes we want this ! 😄
Need that
Most or all herbs and spices have 0 caloric and nutritional value aside from sodium.
They made it, guys! 👏😁
Didn't you already release one? It isn't in your videos, but I remember watching a fruit tier list from you.
Thumbnail says remake. I think some fruits were moved?
@@paulina978 WHY MOVED
I love almost every fruit here (with the exception of figs and dates) always buy various seasonal fruits for daily consumption. My favourites are cherries, peaches and raspberries for spring and summer, mandarin oranges, persimmon and pomegranate for autumn and winter
Thank you for making these videos, I find them very much entertaining while also educate me in what is a healthy diet.
I love how detailed you are about what it has and what it does and also what the things it has does, thank you so much for the hard work you put into these!
Can you do a video about how pesticides affect these qualities? It's hard to get my hands on any fruit that isn't full of pesticides. I also don't think that washing them gets rid of the problem
how did banana go from S tier in the old video to B tier in this one
INCONSISTENT LORE
Because it is *B* anana
Still with a decent micronutrient profile and no notable downsides
That star rating never made sense to me. Banana doesn't add much in terms of anti-oxidants and other phytosterols which are the compounds that make the healthiest fruit shine. It's relatively high in fast carbs, especially when (over) ripe. The B-tier makes sense (though it could also land on C): a lot healthier than a lot of foods people eat, but not your absolute healthiest fruit choice.
@@daredevil6145 COCONUT WAS CHANGED FROM C TIER TO B.
the most shocking part is realizing that the pumpkin - zuccini family is considered as fruits. In Korea we often see it in the vegetable section
Tomatoes are also fruits. But nobody considers them as such because they are not as sweet.
They're in the vegetable section here in Australia as well! I think I did a double take when they showed up here haha
They are in the vegetables section pretty much everywhere but scientific
Not all vegetables are fruits but all fruits are vegetables
One of the things ive discovered from watching these is how much my body craves certain nutient dense foods, really interesting.
I was intentionally using the numbers for dried frigs as they seem to be way more commonly eaten that way.
@@Talon_Fitness Can you make a tier list for the most unhealthiest foods and drinks, with the top being the worst and the bottom being the least bad?
misleading too, it's like he might replace fresh grapes with shriveled sultanas
Maybe in a future video you could make a tier list of the best combination of fruits and vegetables (like in a smoothie) so we can know the optimal combination of vitamins and minerals and other goodness from all the best combined.
Yes !
That video could be 5 hours long, as there are many ways to make a smoothie due to a variety of factors. Just grab some ingredients based off the already made videos and get to taste testing. 🤷🏻♂️
Great suggestion
@@sbdftw1702agreed on this!
Use coconut water in ur smoothies
Yes, this is what we need!
If you make a part 2, make sure to add dates and figs when they aren't dried out.
Hi Talon, could you do a mushroom tier list?
Thats a good one because I have litteraly no idea what mushrooms are good for or if they have any healthy assets at all
Not really, because the nutritional content of most mushrooms depends on the substrate or medium they grow in, so it varies depending on the grower, not necessarily the species.
Where would bilberries place on the list? I've heard their nutritional values are higher than blueberries'.
Would you mind doing a cheese tier list? Or a combined tier list with all the food groups together?
cheese tier list is so useless. it's a snack. you can tell which ones healthy or not. + they're not even that different between all of them.

Do u hv any source on this?
@@darthvader2452 I do and you do too.
It is based on nutrients and vitamins and anti oxidants etc on the fruit.
i would argue that watermelon is just edible water with some extras. it's very common here to eat lots of it in summer. i don't know if it's really hydrating, but at least it feels very refreshing :)
you say it's water, then why wouldn't it be hydrating 😂
@@dolan_darkerest i just mean based on how much you would realistically eat vs. how much water you need on a sunny day
I would counter with that watermelon good for vasodilation and similar to iceberg lettuce which is mostly water too but very high in nitrates so both good for circulation.
HE CHANGED WATERMELON FROM D TIER TO B.
FROM ORIGINAL FRUITS VIDEO FYI
Or just eat truly in season. That's really how our bodies evolved.
I have a main grocery list that is the base of my diet, but I also have a wheel that randomly picks fruits/veggies so that I incorporate a wide variety into my diet
This series is so great ! Thank you especially for your detailed explanations
Ive heard it's better to eat the fruits whole and not break it down if you can.
yea the ultra smashing of them together changes something idk
This video is perfect! You attract all sorts of viewers and encourage them to eat more fruits. I eat a piece of fruit everyday and I really recommend it to everyone!
Many of the A-tier items are not really a food as such. No one can eat a bowl of raw cranberries, lemon or lime. But many of the B-tier items like bananas, oranges or watermelons can be eaten loads of at one time. So, in order to get the health benefits, I would say that some lesser fruit are superior, like bananas or mango, because they are not so hard to eat just like that. The tiers are not as important in the end as the "simple eatability" of the fruit.
i posted the differences to old video in a comment here
You can eat a bowl of cranberries ... dried at least
You can certainly eat a bowl of most fruits. It's just more affordable to eat a lot of bananas.
dried cranberries contain lots of added sugar, real cranberries taste verry bitter@@t.c.4321
this is a really good point
These tier lists made it really easy for me to lose 40 pounds, (I'm at 5'8 160 now) just by eating only healthy food, I got so much more energy throughout the day now and I never feel hungry.
Why is a nutrition course, like this, NOT REQUIRED in high school?! This is EXTREMELY important for e everyone to know, especially at a young age. It literally directly changes your body AND BRAIN!
Kind of underestimated apples here. Has one of the most antioxidant activities in the fruit category. Also if you eat the core, you get a good dose of probiotics.
U MEAN SEEDS TOO?
Shouldn't eat the seeds @@stevethea5250
I believe natural sugars should be viewed differently from processed sugar. A fruit with a higher sugar content is essentially a supercharged fruit with an abundance of energy to fuel the body. If anything, and as an example, the date should be at the top of the list as it has an abundant nutrient profile including (natural) sugars. Sugar is a nutrient.
Exactly! Very well said 😌🙏
Damn right fruit sugar is good for you.
I’m new to this channel and i love that you put your source in the description. This tier list series is amazing
But I was most surprised by Pumpkin offering this much.
same here, i thought apple would be the S or A tier because of the old saying “eat an apple daily and you won’t need a doctor”
I don’t agree with all your ratings but the explained facts really help
Need the milk tierlist!!!!! please!!! I've been trying different nut milks out, but none of them seem to compare to regular milk. Would be curious to see what your rankings are.
I tried to do the same thing. Found out they are highly processed ingredients. You're better off with the best grass fed milk you can get or just drink more water. I barely drink milk anymore. Humans really aren't meant to drink milk as adults. Its all bad for you. But in moderation, if you're just having a few glasses a week I'm sure you'll be fine.

Oh yeah herbs and spices! As a white man I am absolutely clueless about those. As we all know, we like it bland. 😁
Maybe whites from north europe!
Have to have a Good Think here...seems the allocation to the groups A to E needed a rethink ! All the other outline is appreciated. Great Job there!
I’d love a non-meat protein tier list!
Plant based proteins sources would all fall into C tier or lower. C might even be too nice because only animal protein is a complete protein. If you don't want to eat meat, that's cool, but at least eat pasture eggs (S tier) or raw cheese.

Mankind didn't rise up in status on the food chain by eating figs and berries, we were hunters. Come on, meat is good for you, people are starving themselves these days. It’s ever hard to find exact nutrition content for each fruit! Thanks to you I know what to eat and what not to
banana on a dai-ly! tasty, don't really need to be choosy about it and it is extremely consistent as opposed to oranges, easy to peel and no hassle with seeds, stems and such as opposed to apples ad pretty much anything else, almost never goes bad and you don't even need to wash it, can eat it in any situation, for example with dirty hands.
They make you constipated though :(
@@AcidLightning i'd say if there's any effect it's the opposite. but with one banana a day it's rather noexistent.
@@EasyGameEh Not in my experience. My doctor told me it's the one fruit that doesn't help with "releasing"... But maybe they are misinformed?
Very thoughtful video. Thank you for this. Would love to see some more educational stuff - always wanted to learn more about the food I eat.
Awesome remake - raspberries and pomegranates are my favourite fruit, glad they were high up in the tiers :)
Looking forward to part 2. Hope you manage to include redcurrant/blackcurrant, passionfruit, gooseberry, lychee, rambutan, physalis, tayberry/loganberry and persimmon :)
I was hoping Raspberries would also be top tier since they also contain a large amount of Urolithin A similar to pomegranate which slows cell aging and aging as a whole
What about tropical fruit like durian, dragon fruit, mangosteen, jackfruit, rambutan, longan etc.
LETS GO AVOCADOS!!!!!!!!!!!! NUMBER 1!!!!
Spoiler alert
