It will be shortlived but I am hoping to make it into trial for the real game devs of the existing fighting game to play it. Thanks for making this video, and wish me luck!
You know, three years ago I came up with an idea for a game called Deeper Dungeons. It was a co-op card game, where you open doors to discover rooms, and each room has a chance to contain nothing, an enemy, or a treasure (draw from the item deck) The goal of the game was to get OUT of the dungeons by finding the set of stairs that were placed somewhere it the deck. I made it completely by hand, and still think about remaking it and publishing today. Inspiration: GOT.

This looks like a super cool game! It reminds me a lot of one of my favorite board games I’ve ever played, betrayal at the house on the hill. It shares a lot of the same core mechanics, like the two stages where it starts friendly then people turn on each other, and also the system of building the board. If you are interested in or like this game I would def recommend betrayal at the house on the hill.
This is the coolest idea for a board game I've ever seen! I'm working on my first fully-finished video game with a small team right now, but I've done a lot of small stuff for game jams before!
This seriously reminds me of a game called "betrayal at house on the hill" you explore a giant house getting items and loot, until the haunt is revealed. Once one player is revealed as the haunt, everyone has to work together(or in their own) to escape the house or kill the haunt. Their is tons of different haunts what can happen with a unique gameplay each time.
I think a cool feature to have would be to have blank cards which the users could themselves fill and add more expansion. This could possibly make the groups have that you know the 'In the group' things which they could talk about personally which can kind of set them apart from other players of the game while at the same time keeping the community alive. **I know I am a bit late but yeah**
Glad I got to see this video. I am in the play testing phase of my first prototype. I got in contact with local game devs in my area to try and playtest and get feedback on my game so hopefully this is the start to a new chapter
This is really cool! In 2017 as an assignment in college we had to design and create a board game from scratch in 7 weeks. This video made me miss that project, it was really cool! Basically a MOBA - Capture the flag kinda thing. Might have to look into it again🤔
Awesome to hear about your game and how you made it with friends! It kind of reminds me of a game I played a while ago called betrayal at house on the hill.
basically what I wanna do right now, well...maybe whet I'm doing, because I already made some mechanic and rules. I really love board game and making one is really a dream for me. I've made a "board game" before when I was a child, it just a paper where I draw a map/a circuit where me and my friend race on it. that time, I don't even know the term board game, the idea just come to my head. super glad I found this video, really awesome and motivated. thanks for making this, and I would definitely get myself a copy of the Keeyp, looks super interesting!
Once i tried to make a print and play, but i didn't got the support of friends, i can make it to a class project aswell, now with the corect support and interest of friends i thinki we are making some progress in board games experience. I really apreciate you sharing your story, as you say the time we share while creating is so wholesome.
As someone who has been going through the undertaking of making my own roguelike board game, this video was really cool for me, since it showed me that the dream I have right now IS possible! This was a really cool video, keep up the great work, and I hope that The Keeyp makes it big someday!
First, I think that learning game design through board games is a great way to start, so as to get familiar with the fundamentals (e.g.: mechanics, rules, story if need be). It’s how I started learning. Second, although I really want to buy your game (I tried to), I can’t because shipping to Canada is pretty pricey (and that’s without the conversion to Canadian dollars) =_= .... Just know that if I could, I would because I love board/card games!Hopefully, you’ll be able to sell more one day and I can pick up a copy :D
Great video! I missed the stock on this unfortunately but I hope the people who were able to get a copy enjoy! I wanted to say I recently made a board game for my girlfriend and I to play as a birthday gift to her. It was super rough and homemade, definitely just a prototype, but I got a blank board game kit off of Amazon for about $23 with blank box, cards, a game board, a spinner, dice, and tokens. If you want to prototype a game or just make something fun for your friends and family, it's a super approachable price point and high-quality stuff.
This appeard on my youtube home page this morning, really impressed, wanted to join the KS but its closed, not going to lie a little gutted as the art style looks fantastic!
The art for the game is amazing, I loved seeing the process for the cards, characters, box art, and other promotional things, would love to see more graphic design content in the future if possible, keep it up!
The initial concept reminds me a bit of "Descent: Journeys in the Dark". A great game, worth a look at if you haven't heard of it. I really like what you made in the end! And a very inspiring story.
there was a board game that I can't recall its name. You build the entire map in stage 1 then when stage 2 triggers depending on some parameters of how stage 2 was reached the whole monster and mechanics of stage 2 would change, sometimes the bad guy is a zombie and turns everyone into a zombie, an other time the map would collapse, etc (I didn't get to play many renditions of it to comment)
I once spent a ton of time making a board game, I was super proud of it, and spent like $60 to get a copy of it from The Game Crafter. I got to test it once with two of my friends. One of them got super upset that I was tweaking the rules as we played, had a big tantrum about how she wasn't having fun, and that killed all motivation I had for the project. We stopped hanging out, and now my only friends are internet friends so I wouldn't have anyone to play it with anyway. You're lucky to have such supportive friends.
That's an awesome story! Glad to hear you accomplished that dream! The game looks great and the concept is somewhat similar to my first board game prototype. I shelved mine though but after a few other prototypes I finally am moving towards publishing one of my games. Listening to your video and from my experience I'd say doing it with someone and not alone makes a huge difference in whether the project can actually see the sight of day. I hope the game goes back on sale and you get to make some $$ of of it still.
This was such an amazing video! As a fellow Ohioan who's currently working on their first game (which is also a dungeon crawler), this was super inspiring and helpful! Keep up the great work! I'll definitely be picking up a copy of your game
I once made a simple multiplayer board game for my niece. Printed on two sheets of A4 photographic paper. I didn't know about vector graphic, so everything was horribly pixelated (I used Paint). The game was a blast. So satisfying for me, too :)

in our country (slovakia) or other countries in europe we have a very similar game called "karak" its not a popular game but its really good and the people who made it were also a couple of people who wanted to make a board game and made it happen this game looks great, good job!
This video reeaaaaalllly encourage me to did my own board game!Everytime I lost my motivation I just watch this video and getting motivated again! Thanks for this video I hope I have enough money to buy this :)
I think i had the same reason why i started making my boardgame: i couldn't find anything similar to what i wanted to play. I'm making a game about pirates, but concentrated more on exploration (with the mechanic of all players making the map together, like your game or Carcassonne) and battles (with cards like in BANG!) and of course the one with more treasures wins. Simple, right to the core and fun. That's my idea of the boardgame i have in mind. I have 1 prototype and i play it with my friends sometimes. It needs more testing though to understand if it flows without breaking too much. I'm at version 4 i think. Now i have an intrusive thought that a friend told me about: you can't make boardgames without a mathematician, which it sounds to me like bonkers. I think you can make games with some basic knowledge on probability especially with a game with cards in it. But i think it's up to the maker to understand if it's the right amount of cards that players find and sift through them. I don't know. How did you manage that aspect? Thank you so much for the tips!
Holy heck, board game dev logs are criminally underrated and we need more documentation on the creation of them. Thank you!
Thanks so much! :D I'll keep that in mind.
Gotta make a video when mine is published then ;)

Glad I got to see this video. I am in the play testing phase of my first prototype. I got in contact with local game devs in my area to try and playtest and get feedback on my game so hopefully this is the start to a new chapter
This is really cool! In 2017 as an assignment in college we had to design and create a board game from scratch in 7 weeks. This video made me miss that project, it was really cool! Basically a MOBA - Capture the flag kinda thing. Might have to look into it again🤔
That's fantastic! :D
Me and my family waited for years to get our hands on a copy, and we finally did!
Awesome to hear about your game and how you made it with friends! It kind of reminds me of a game I played a while ago called betrayal at house on the hill.
Yeah! I've played that before. It does have a couple similarities. Thanks so much!
Thank you for sharing your process and experience with making a board game. I was a bit inspired to continue creating a game I'm working on.
basically what I wanna do right now, well...maybe whet I'm doing, because I already made some mechanic and rules.
I wish you the best of luck! :D
Once i tried to make a print and play, but i didn't got the support of friends, i can make it to a class project aswell, now with the corect support and interest of friends i thinki we are making some progress in board games experience. I really apreciate you sharing your story, as you say the time we share while creating is so wholesome.
Thanks so much! ;D
I was not familiar with your game but after this epic ride of a story I just need to play it!
:D
As someone who has been going through the undertaking of making my own roguelike board game, this video was really cool for me, since it showed me that the dream I have right now IS possible! This was a really cool video, keep up the great work, and I hope that The Keeyp makes it big someday!
Thanks so much, and also I wish you the best of luck. :D
I would love to get my hands on a copy of this, if there's ever a reprint!
I also finished making a board game on paper and made my own cards using paper, but i have no idea how to market it or where to make the packaging
Sign our petition to bring the Keeyp back! We might even release and print and play option. www.change.org/BringBackTheKeeyp
@@Goodgis Already did lol :p
Great video! I missed the stock on this unfortunately but I hope the people who were able to get a copy enjoy!
I wanted to say I recently made a board game for my girlfriend and I to play as a birthday gift to her. It was super rough and homemade, definitely just a prototype, but I got a blank board game kit off of Amazon for about $23 with blank box, cards, a game board, a spinner, dice, and tokens. If you want to prototype a game or just make something fun for your friends and family, it's a super approachable price point and high-quality stuff.
That's awesome, and a great way to do it! :D Also you can sign our petition to bring the game back. www.change.org/BringBackTheKeeyp
This appeard on my youtube home page this morning, really impressed, wanted to join the KS but its closed, not going to lie a little gutted as the art style looks fantastic!
Thanks so much!
The art for the game is amazing, I loved seeing the process for the cards, characters, box art, and other promotional things, would love to see more graphic design content in the future if possible, keep it up!
Glad to hear it! :D Thanks so much!
The initial concept reminds me a bit of "Descent: Journeys in the Dark". A great game, worth a look at if you haven't heard of it.
I really like what you made in the end! And a very inspiring story.
Thanks so much! :D
there was a board game that I can't recall its name.
Wow dang, that's rough Buddy.
my copy arrived today, gonna force my family to play.
this video is how I found the game too.
Heck yeah! Glad to hear it.
Thanks so much! :D
This was such an amazing video! As a fellow Ohioan who's currently working on their first game (which is also a dungeon crawler), this was super inspiring and helpful! Keep up the great work! I'll definitely be picking up a copy of your game
Heck yeah! Ohio forever! haha
Great job on the game! My tabletop crew gave it a test drive last night and everyone loved it!
Thanks so much! :D
I once made a simple multiplayer board game for my niece. Printed on two sheets of A4 photographic paper. I didn't know about vector graphic, so everything was horribly pixelated (I used Paint). The game was a blast. So satisfying for me, too :)
looks really cool. i like seeing a game dev channel making a video designing a non video game. i love making ttrpgs & there's just so much space for games you can play without a computer
I definitely will make more. I made my own table top roleplaying game Snomes that I would love to chat about.
I can't believe I'm one entire year late to get this masterpiece. But I have to thank the algorithm for at least knowing it exists. You did an awesome game there!
I just thinking about this kind of game,
but not sure if I need to invent this,
but luckily, I found this.
Thank you
Currently 2443 has signed the petition.
Honestly, I did the same. This game looked good and I wish to see more dev logs like this. Really nice job on it!
The Keeyp will definitely return! :D We are working our butts off to make a kickstarter. :D
I'm still in high school and I have tried making my own boardgame and videogame and I am now more inspired than ever because of these dev logs. Thank you haha
Go for it! :D
No way?! I designed a game quite similar to this for a game design class.
This is amazing. personally this is inspiring me to make a tower defense board game. Great job
That's awesome!
Man, that's awesome! I personally did a board game to play with friends, but never thought of releasing it, mostly because it was hand drown
That's sweet!
loved this! curenly finishin my prototype. Might be ready today. Glad to have found your channel and this vid.
:D
This is a really Inspiring story, thanks for sharing your experience!! 😊 I'm actually in the process of building an action & strategy board game myself with the help of my two kids! Hope I'll be able to do something like the Keeyp one day ! 🎉
This is a pretty inspiring. Creating a TTRPG and I loved seeing what your process was.
at school i used paper to legit make a copy of your game and play with friends! its fun and my classmates love it
That's awesome!
Man I want to see a vid of a full campaign of it, like what polygon does with board games
I'll keep that in mind. :D
Very cool taking game dev in a fresh direction. It looks super clean!
Thanks so much! :D
please do this again, this really made me want my own copy!!!
:D
in our country (slovakia) or other countries in europe we have a very similar game called "karak"
its not a popular game but its really good and the people who made it were also a couple of people who wanted to make a board game and made it happen
this game looks great, good job!
Nice!
This video reeaaaaalllly encourage me to did my own board game!Everytime I lost my motivation I just watch this video and getting motivated again!
Thanks for this video
I hope I have enough money to buy this :)
That's awesome! :D You got this!
Are you a rogue fan?
Hope there’s another printing! I’d love to get my hands on a copy. This video really inspires me, since I’m hoping to make my own game!
We want to!
I'm actually making a card game at the moment and this definitely motivates me to keep going
That's awesome! :D
This is literally the thing that I see and want while knowing nothing about it just looks amazing
:D
