    I listened to this with tears falling. We had this song at both of my parents' funerals, because it was their favorite song. It brings back such sweet memories every time I hear it. Love finding your site and just being able to listen to beautiful music.

    Having played trumpet all my life I will say you’ve got fantastic sound. Good embouchure and verbrada. I would personally hold off on the first riff in the beginning of the piece and leave it solely for the last half for a more passionate effect. But wonderful job nonetheless! I can also hear a second trumpet playing along on certain measures perhaps playing a second trumpet part. Creating a harmonic effect. Beautiful though as is.

      Miss Trudy Lou: It is as the hymn text was written across this morning’s Kansas City Star. Very much needed today.

    Are you playing a C trumpet or a B flat? I recently bought a C trumpet so I can play straight from the hymn book with the pianist at my church.

      We don't have sheet music to these arrangements unfortunately. We make them up on the spot as we go.

      Hey Aaron - check your church hymnal... assuming you go to church! If not, you can certainly find the hymn music on the internet. And if you're a musician, try playing it straight (as written) and then add your own style to it. And always remember the point of any hymn.
      Thanks Lars & Tom for letting me ad lib!

    Next time stand in such a way that we can see notes you are playing

    • @thetomandlarsshow7714
      @thetomandlarsshow7714  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the suggestion. For the most part, Tom (piano) plays almost entirely by ear and makes up his arrangements in the moment. Lars (trumpet) reads straight out of the hymn book and adds embellishments around the melodic line.
