In this edition of The Tom and Lars Show, Tom and Larry play the traditional negro spiritual "Old-Time Religion" also known as "Give Me That Old-Time Religion" or "Gimme That Old-Time Religion" (Public Domain). Larry plays a Bach Stradivarius Bb Trumpet. Tom plays a Steinway B.
Larry (Lars) Jones has been the Instrumental Worship Pastor and Generosity Pastor at Connection Point Church in Raytown, MO, since 1999. He attended the Cleveland Institute of Music for 2 years, then transferred to the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland, where he graduated in 1993. He has studied trumpet with such greats as Irving Sarin, Michael Sachs, Steve Hendrickson, and Rich Stoelzel. He has played trumpet in numerous civic orchestras and toured with Tim Zimmerman and The Kings Brass for 6 years.
Tom Hilton is a retired chemist/sales guy who loves playing piano by ear (as well as reads music!) and making beautiful music in a variety of venues.

@@beckybrooks9547 Thanks Becky. It is ironic that the first song I taught myself to play at 4 years, according to my parents was 'The Charleston". I honestly don't remember that. Without a doubt I would bet my next paycheck, they were hoping for "Breath on me" (the most beautiful tenor line every written) or at at least "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". 61 years later I am still enamored with that rhythm. Hope to work more of that with in it if Lars will let me. He is 'such' a taskmaster. Bless his heart.

I am digging the "roaring 20s" vibe at the end!

Thanks Della. What is cool, that happened basically 100 years ago and is just as fresh today as then.
