I watched some time ago Tyler problem too when they messed up fluids, car wizard was right on and had same confusion. Thanks to Wizard for that video and yours, always nice to know these problems in advance

I like vids like this where you go over the quirks and features of the cool cars you guys are working on.

It’s a shame how terrible the transmission in these is. If it weren’t for their constant failures, I’d consider one in the future.

@@JStryker7 Same, I’m gutted, absolutely love these cars, perfect in Nearly every way but I guess nothing is perfect and risks have to be taken. Too much of a risk for me unfortunately which is a shame. Worse thing is where gearbox so called specialists don’t know what they are doing and they mess up your gearbox then charge you for it.

Everything under the gearbox for draining?? and everything on the side is for refill?? but I guess you have to do it at a certain temp and also possibly in a certain order.

My dealer also forgot to remove the shipping travel limiters on my 21 Mach 1. Apparently this is a common problem The dealers need to be made aware of this.

I can imagine buying one of these new and bringing it to this mechanic and saying replace the plastic crap.

That Ivanhoe guy said on Vinwiki that he was the one that warned Hoovies about the fluid misharp 🤔

Great video! I just had this service done by my local MB service centre and after I got home, there was quite a lot of trans fluid dripping from the trans (where that rectangle rubber seal sits at the bottom). I had it checked by another dealership and they reckon it's been overfilled and the fluid was pushed out either via the vent or the radial shaft seal. The dealership that did the service now thinks the seal is damaged and they want to take the transmission out to replace the seal but everyone else I have been consulting says it's the overfilling that caused the leak. It's no longer leaking but have you ever come across this issue with a trans leaking? Thanks!

I always say very bad detail by MB make only the brake rotors wiyh a desing, the right side rotors fits in a wrong grooves-drills way.

Great video. In the first half the volume was low.
Also, if you don't mind sharing, which scan tool and repair manual software are you using?

Thank you for the feedback, we’ve been trying to figure out the different settings. Earlier videos were peaking the mic. We use a Mercedes Scan tool, SDS/Xentry and Mercedes WIS (work instructions). For non-Mercedes we use an Autel.

Excellent video! About to tackle the Transaxle Service on my 2018 GTR and this video was great to see. Seems very similar to the fill process used on the 722.9 transmission that I'm very comfortable with doing. Couple quick questions.. It appears that on the Gearset side there are a total of two drains and one fill. Do you open up the two drains on the passenger side to drain the gearbox, and then once you pump in the correct amount (what you drained plus 1 quart), the fill on the drivers side is removed to set the dynamic level (at 60C)? I'm just not understanding the point of the two drains on the passenger side. The rear diff side seems to be a very simple static level change, you drain the fluid, then "fill until spill" method to set level there. Any clarification on the Gearset side with the three drains/level would be great! Thanks!!

Same way on the gearset side as the diff side. Just the one fill point. Allow to spill over once at operating temperature. I’d imagine the two drains are due to different “compartments” of the transmission that aren’t able to drain together in series but they fill normally

After writing my original question, I managed to trip over the correct answer for the two drains on the gearset side. One drain is for the DCT gearset, two drains are for the diff (one on diff in usual rearmost location, the other actually mounted on DCT gearset). The procedure for replacing the rear diff fluid is to drain diff fluid at the rear diff drain, as well as the second forward-most plug on the gearset itself (~2 inches from DCT fluid drain). Then, replace both drain plugs, fill diff fluid until it spills out. Then cap the filler, start the car and idle for 60 seconds (this is done with cold car/cold fluid, not to exceed 40C). Finally, after the minute at idle, shut off car, remove fill screw, and top off fluid until it spills out. That second drain is part of a "lubricating oil circuit", that is the reason for two. Appreciate the helpful response also! @@DCMotorWerks

I really admire this car and I even drove an AMG GT-R in Las Vegas. It's a blast to drive. However you could give me one and I couldn't afford to keep it. Typical German over-engineering.

Great video! The first half of the video it was hard to hear what he was saying, like the mic volume was low. Might be time to invest in a lavalier mic?
Hope this isn't seen as a knock on you guys. I want see ya'll succeed. Love the content.
How about a Buyers Guide video for the AMG GT? Would love to see what to look out for when buying one.

No knock at all, we appreciate the feedback. We’re using rode wireless mics. Trying to figure out the settings on them!
