Hi there Jess .. 👍👍👍 .. another good one .. thanks for sharing. A nice gear loadout .. simple but practical. Those Norden Countries make really awesome outdoor gear. Practical, robust .. perhaps not with the amount of 'bling' and 'comfort' associated with Products aimed at Western Markets but boy, they do what they were designed for and more. Work Gloves .. an idea. Fabric Loops and Brass Grommets as Attachment Points. I have attached one variation to my one pair and the other to the other pair. This allows me to hang my gloves on my belt or pack .. thus allowing for easy access AAWR. Closer to home .. I recently received my Savotta Jääkäri S Backpack from Varusteleka. It came with the two Side Pouches .. the '4L'(itre) Version and a Sternum Strap that I ordered with it. WOW I am impressed .. the Quality is to be seen to be believed! These guys know how to make stuff. Presently, I'm having a glorious time 😁 playing around with various setups .. including ways to get some of my current non-molle gear to fit. Have already had a test run down to our local Migros Supermarket to pick up a sizeable batch of groceries and .. 👍👍👍😊. The pack (sans side pockets) is also EU Air Travel Cabin Bag Size Compliant. I'm currently working on the Visa to travel to the UK 🙄😏 to visit my son and family and to finally see my first Grandchild for the first time (she will be turning 2 this year .. this Covid BS scuppered previous attempts 😖). The pack should make for ideal Cabin Baggage. I can store the 4L Side Pockets (loaded up with the usual Carry-On Suspects) inside the Pack during the flight and thereafter, when required, transfer them to the outside for the additional capacity. Back to the Norden Gear. Jess, yes it is expensive .. but! As you said, it'll last a lifetime and it more than meets it's design intent. My one 30 litre Day Pack (bought some years back from my local Military Surplus Store .. a 'Store Brand Name' and prematurely showing its age) .. that pack is already down in the basement into storage (I don't readily immediately discard stuff that I've replaced .. have to 'mull' over it a bit 😏. Perhaps, inter alia, if nobody else can get good use out of it, there could be bits and pieces thereon that may come in handy later). Knowing what I know now, I would have bought then, this Jääkäri Pack (with Accessories, at close to four times the price) instead of the Surplus Store Version, without blinking. Once again my friend, a good share .. always nice hearing from you. You and the Family .. take care .. Tommy
Video and audio quality super clear, like 4k…. Walking shots smooth… That German faluka is killer. Definitely going to search for one. Sweet vid brother. D🤙🇺🇸

I love the setup. I've been altering and evolving my medium ALICE setup in the same way. I'm a tad bit heavier but once I get a sewing machine that should change.
Nice job well presented Jess, I use a viking condor 65ltr patrol pack fully loaded for summer 12kl. I like your universal flexibility, great share. Thank you from Scotland. Harry
Thanks my brother 😊 Nice little pack! I too have a smaller pack for summer. I strapped it on, middle of June, and had a blast testing it out for a few nights... But getting my winter pack into ship shape has been creeping into the forefront of my mind as of late though 😅 I like being prepared 😁 🤷🏼♀️ Great to see ya again... I pray all is well with you & the family 🙏🏼 I think we have some very rough seas coming up just ahead, so stay sharp & armor up Jess 💪🏻🗡️ All my love dear brother 🌿
Hey sister! Yes, colder weather is slowly creeping in here. We have had a few nights here were I thought about firing up the woodstove. Then other days we are running a fan all night. We are doing good though. Boys are teething, so that has been interesting 😐😂 It definitely seems like the pressure is getting cranked up. Its going to be alright. Brilliant video Jess everything you need and under 20lbs and it’s amazing gear 👍 I definitely overthink and over pack my pack is probably around 40lbs I definitely need to get the weight down . Recently I bought a get out gear down quilt so this will definitely cut the weight down and I definitely recommend it . Hopefully see you doing a overnight video soon all the best my friend stay well 💪🏴👍🔥🥩🍻
Nice kit Jess, thanks for showing all of what you have in it, always helpful. I hope that you will do a video on using a medium Alice pack. Thanks for the video.👍
That's an awesome kit. I like the minimalist and versatile concept of the items. Very functional and basic, but comprehensive kit. Thanks for the video and for sharing your thoughts, ideas and experience with us.
I have quite a collection of surplus gear. I'll be honest, my closet looks like a surplus store. I'm a big shoulders guy so some pieces of soviet surplus I want aren't available in my size. I don't fit in mummy bags so I have to find what fits me. One piece I bought because of your videos was a palash palatka. I have discovered the magic of the woobie mixes well with the sorcery of the palash. I use it for a sleep system down to 40 degrees.
When weight matters, 20 pounds is roughly the right idea. You have the perfect Grunts G.P. loudout. You should try and compact that load to a smaller package, that can be done without sacrificing your kit you have now.
Nice one man! I found a jaakari S, 2 large verticals, 2 medium horizontals on a second market here in Australia for really cheap (very rare). Stuck the two horizontals on the belt of my jaakari L and the verticals on the jaakari S. Tried to get the heaviest stuff into the belt cause the S isn't the best at carrying heavier loads with such thin straps. Hopefully gonna give it a spin this week.
Had my bag for a year+. Only gripe is I wish I could get into the top from the outside. Other than that, I absolutely love it. Nice gear base too, also very similar to what I keep for Colorado
Just for the info on the Savotta FDF sleep pad was worthy of a thumbs up. I’m at a loss with ground dwelling and this pad sounds like it could help me out a bit. Good price too. Cheers 😉👍🏼

Thank you for the thoughtful content. I see that you have a cook kit with spices and such - but where is your food procurement equipment, like a fishing pole, sling shot, or pellet gun? Thanks again.
Thank you. I usually have something on me, like small pocket fishing kit (hooks line and sinkers in a 12g shell container), and am pretty proficient making traps.

Although a super boring purchase, i try and leave a little room for a First-Aid Ensemble, and a Tick Remover. Oh, yeah and a couple of Aspirin or Ibuprofen. Light weight but always left behind.....Cheers!!
Solid stuff. I keep a Swiss Army knife in my pocket. It has helped me dig out many many ticks lol Birch is a really nice medicinal. I use the bark, leaves and twigs to make teas. Natural aspirin, pain reliever, anti inflammatory, as well as good for intestinal issues. Cheers 🤝
Forgot to mention, you've got a good channel here. Also, I know I live under a rock, but I had never heard of Savotta before. Checked out their website, and sadly for my bank acct, I think I'm hooked. 😁
Totally agree I've been keeping my lightest weight Palatka as a staple in my summer kit for all you mentioned I would double it as a bivvy if needed for extra warmth or just fire protection to my lightweight synthetic stuff meanwhile I'm trying to get us much quality gear I can afford 😀 haha 😁✌️💚✊️🔥
As of now I've got a 10x10 aquaquest I think safari guide or some shit lol it's only 1.5lbs green hiddenwoodsman ruck all in all around 15lbs of gear with bug nets wood stove and stool I plan on doing a summer bag loadoutvideo
Thanks for the vid! I have a jääkari M and was thinking about getting a cheap tarp to my kit and I come across the fjellduken hunter. Oh boy, the need is real. Is it worth it thou? It's realy pricy. But I could use it for hunting as a poncho. And when camping as a tent or tarp to complement my light weight sleepingbag. So I can see the use for it.
The jerven is really nice gear, especially if you are in a colder environment. Definitely an investment. They are not good near a fire, just keep that in mind if you get one.

Hey brother, doing good. Family has me busy busy. Just got my Alice packed for a video though. Great kit. Yeah, they’ve been around a bit. All good though. Cheers
Some Euro mill surplus kit is very good, some terrible, (like all surplus I'd assume). The prices of Savotta start to put you in to high end US hunting pack companies. Was there a practical reason for choosing Savotta or just what you personally fancied?
It was all gear that I had on hand from collecting over the years. I use the Savotta pack because it is light, carries well in thick timber and is flexible with attachments

Hey Jess, between the jerven and the Sarma thermal cloak, which do you prefer? Which one would you say is more versatile/worth the money as both seem like a decent investment
I really like both. For versatility, probably the uninsulated Sarma cloak is going to be the one. You can use it with any insulation layers you like. It is also much lighter and packable
Hey Jess, I am trying to purchase some of the Russian and Finnish gear that you carry. I love your entire gear setup. I went on some of the websites, but because of the war in Ukraine, most sites say sold out. Could you give me some advise, on where I get get my hands on some of this gear? Thanks, Lou
Hi Lou, I would check ebay and grey-shop.ru for Russian kit. The last I heard, they were still shipping to US. For the Finnish gear, Varusteleka.com and Varuste.net are the only sources I know of.
@@EnduranceRoom Ok thanks! I will do that. Keep up with your work. You produce the most excellent material. I am learning a lot from you. Hopefully you are planning on more videos to come. Best if luck, stay safe out there, and keep on producing great videos! I wish that you can comment or do a video on poison ivy. How to avoid, what to do, etc… I live in PA. I’m sure you are well aware of how much is in these woods. Thanks again, Lou
2:51 Don't sit on it! You're gonna damage it. At 9:06 you can clearly see the inner loops have the most tension. If you fold it too many times in that one spot eventually it will break. 9:38 That stick should have a rolled up sock or a rag on the contact point with the tarp so you don't scratch it and eventually tear it. You shouldn't need it at all if you tied it up to the trunk of a sturdy enough tree. 11:42 If you throw cotton on the ground... wouldn't that soak up all the moisture? Especially if it rained in the last day or so. Maybe place a few garbage bags under it? They're thin enough to prevent that and weigh close to nothing.
Buddy, I have been doing this a long time and sharing what works for me. You are free to start a channel and make your own videos. But thanks for watching.
Hi I wanted to ask you more about your load out. I live in more of an arid/hot area where I need to carry water rather than being about to stop and drink at water sources such as creeks and streams (Filtered water), so therefore my pack weight is much more than I would like it to be. Question have you ever modified a camel pack/hydration carrier using pouch attachments to it with all the mentioned equipment in your video? And if so what hydration pack would you feel would be best to do mods on? Cheers. Drew.
I have not used one before, as the area I am in the cold weather can freeze the hose. If I were to run one, there is a sleeve inside of the bag that will hold a water bladder. Ideally, you want the water or anything heavy close to the body to optimize carrying. I don’t think a dedicated carrier is necessary in a lot of instances.
Thanks for the video. I checked out the FDF sleeping pad at Savotta, their site rates the R value at 2. Is that the same pad? I really like the idea of the ground cloth and sleep pad as a single unit.
G'day! Haven’t seen you in a while, but I’m glad I caught you today. I just picked up a Dutch surplus 3 day assault pack from Varusteleka (?) for $60can, and it’s really pretty awesome. Just needs some foam or something to give it a little rigidity. The folding German pad works well, but I’m sure there are better choices. It has plenty of straps, attachment points, awesome shoulder straps, even a hip belt that works to take the load odd the shoulders. I’d recommend it to any viewers who can’t afford the pack you have. Did you do a video, or do you know of a review on that German bag/bivy
Nice! Sounds like a cool pack. The bag bivvy in this video? It is a jerven fjelduken hunter, Norwegian gear. I did a couple quick videos on, 30 sec shelter, intro, and have used it in a few overnights. Really slick kit.
Du bist ein cooler Typ. Verstehe leider nicht viel, aber was ich sehe gefällt mir. Dankeschön. Herzliche Grüße aus Bayern, Deutschland

Can you put out a full list of all of that stuff?
jerven fjelduken hunter (varuste.net)
jääkäri m backpack (varusteleka.com)
FDF sleeping pad (varusteleka.com)
ratnik shelter (russiancoldcamo.com)
👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you!
Nice

Hey brother, doing good. Family has me busy busy. Just got my Alice packed for a video though. Great kit.
Yeah, they’ve been around a bit. All good though. Cheers
Love my jakaari m :D
Awesome video where did you get the jerven fjellduken hunter?
Thanks! Lamnia.net

@@EnduranceRoom makes sense to me, thanks! Lookin forward to the next one
Hey Jess,
I am trying to purchase some of the Russian and Finnish gear that you carry.
@@EnduranceRoom
Ok thanks! I will do that.
Keep up with your work.
You produce the most excellent material. I am learning a lot from you.
Hopefully you are planning on more videos to come.
Best if luck, stay safe out there, and keep on producing great videos!
I wish that you can comment or do a video on poison ivy.
How to avoid, what to do, etc…
I live in PA. I’m sure you are well aware of how much is in these woods.
Thanks again, Lou
That jacket you had looked cool, what is it called?
It was a Gorka 3 in ATACS
Awesome kit bud! Where were you guys able to find the Jerven bivys?
Thank you. Varuste.net I believe was the site
Please share a link to the rain gear bivvy you spoke about

Thanks for the video. I checked out the FDF sleeping pad at Savotta, their site rates the R value at 2. Is that the same pad? I really like the idea of the ground cloth and sleep pad as a single unit.
It must be 2. Sorry, I was told it was 4. I think it is comfortable though
@@EnduranceRoom Thanks
🤙🏻
Hi any links to that sleeping pad ?

Which Jerven do you use? I see there are different versions?
Hunter
What's that brown cloth ground sheet
Soviet plash palatka
Can anyone spell out the shelter/tarp and ground cloth (lying under his gear) for me? I can‘t seem to find them from what I understand.
plash palatka
The soviet versions are getting harder to source. Varusteleka.com may have some romanian versions available
@@EnduranceRoom Thanks a bunch!
Your audio got all jacked up
Guess you like misquotes lol
I am not an amateur. BTW You asked for my help twice today
@@EnduranceRoom thanks, I’ll look for the videos
