It’s not a Canterbury copy savotta are years old and dont copy anyone, if you follow the Canterbury bandwagon you will see that they all used the savotta then he came out with a near on copy which I’m surprised he got away with or less they made it for him
About the Pouches lacking Snaps, you will come to like the Fold system. You'll never have to worry about the snaps breaking or tearing away from the Material. I disliked them at first Also. Savotta has a video on how to Properly thread them. I've gotta have one of these Brown ones. 👍
Great review! Truly the best! Thank you. One of the main reasons in my opinion in regard to why someone might want something like this rather than an osprey beside the "tactical look", is the versatility in its use cases. With its modular design and size, you can accustom it to different scenarios. You can remove the pouches and go for a daily hike, size it down and make it carry-on friendly for a plane, extent the top and attach pouches for a weekend camping, add strap pads for a long heavy packing multi day hunting trip, etc. The list goes on. When the material is top notch, you can rest assured that sky's the limit. However, I'm in between sizes of L and M, since the L one has a separate pocket at the bottom which can greatly be used for boots/shoes separating them from clothes and stuff.
Savotta make excellent packs, i have the jääkäri xl and ive used it in environments from desert to jungle and between and it sails through it with ease 👍🏻
First time viewer here, good review, thanks. I was surprised by the spiritual encouragement at the end, very beautiful. I too have found that heartbreak and terrible troubles can lead to the deepest growth. At the beginning, in the thick of the trauma, it doesn’t seem that way, but once I start to breathe and reflect the path opens.
Thanks, I was looking at the Pathfinder by comparison to this one or the larger Savotta whith the aluminium frame. The question I had was about adding what sized side pouches, you answered that for me I thought i could only add the 6Lt side pouches. I am now sold on this one with the 8Lt side pouches. I may also add the aluminium frame upgrade to this one rather then the plastic one it comes with, I will try it out first though before adding that upgrade. thanks again. Regards Shane.
I like your review very much, for you gave a full 360 Detail view of the pack and showed the details. I don‘t need reviewers telling me the specs and just showing me the pack from far away. This info is available on every shop out there. So you did a great job!!!
Very nice video, love it, and I own this pack in green, my favorite too, I use it all the time.. all the time.. will get some side pockets too..still hesitating between the sizes, you took the biggest ones and it looks defo ok...
Hey brother saw the video because of my interest in the bag and enjoyed your review, but your message at the end was an unexpected blessing and is something that everyone needs a reminder on every so often. God bless.
I've got Savotta Jaakari pouches and backpacks in M and L in Finnish army M05 camouflage. Now I want it in this Coyote Brown! Thanks for review and God bless!
Great tip on the shoulder pads, I just ordered a pair! I have the Brown Savotta M with the 4L side pouches but with the 4L side pouches there is no pass through for an axe or really, anything. I also added the internal aluminum frame... that helps a lot!
Im thinking of the 4l to my L jaeger, no room for a axe? What size of axe did you try with? I have the gränsfors wildlife hatchet, i think it will fit but with a tight squeeze, hard to tell by photos :)
Have been considering getting this pack for quite awhile, so I very much appreciated coming across your video here. Thank you for highlighting the physical details of the pack that most reviewers don’t touch on. I do have the PF Scout pack and have really enjoyed carrying it. Regarding the jääkäri side pouches, do you know if they will properly attach to the Pathfinder Scout pack? I’m very curious about that as adding those might be a nice short term modification to my Scout Pack while I save up for a jääkäri Medium. Thanks again for you most helpful review. And God bless you and your family.
Thanks brother for stopping bye. As for the side pouches, they won’t fit on the scout because the scout doesn’t have Molly going up high enough so only smaller pouches will fit. Hope that helps man.
Thank you so much! That helps a great deal actually… as it saves me about $100 In placing an order for (2) pouches that won’t fit my current equipment. Very much appreciate your taking the time to reply. 👍
how did it take me watching this video to realize there was a side access zipper. I've had this pack for three years and have used it in all 4 seasons multiple times a month and never even noticed. it was my one wish for that pack to have side access too. I guess that goes to show how well built the cover is for the zipper, so you wont have to worry about any dirt and grime in there!
Also I can confirm with no coating and 80lbs this bag will repel water in a pool for about 3ish minutes, not a lot of time, but enough in to feel a little better if the worst case scenario happens with your stuff in the wilderness
Sorry you got divorced, but for me, my divorce was the best that thing to happen because now I'm free to do what ever the Fk I want and when ever the Fk I want without some lady btching at me all the time (don't do this & don't do that & you need to start doing this & that) Mental & physical abuse truly becomes debilitating, and yes, she would smack & throw things at me a lot, twice drawing blood and burns to my face from hot tea... So yes, Freedom is awesome!!!... When it comes to addiction, well, the only thing I've ever been addicted to was coffee, and I believe it's a valid addiction because it's the first thing on my mind when I wake up.=== Anyway, I watched this video because I'm deciding on which JAAKARI SAVOTTA I should get for my Appalachian Trail THRU Hike from Georgia to Maine starting in January 2025.
Hi Man Like the video ❤ I too knew addiction and mega loss and Heartache Found a Saviour who is Closer than a Brother ! Only he can forgive! Deliver and Heal the Broken Hearted !!!! GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME !!!! Best wishes from Scotland
I often see people overpacking the Savotta Jaeger M. Big pouches on the side. Things strapped to each side. Why not just go with a larger bag that has an appropriate carrier system and shoulder straps to support the weight. This bag in my opinion is not designed for this.
Agree, i have the L and it fits all the stuff inside so you will get a much better stability. I got two 4L pouches for the items i want fast and often 👍
I disagree. I use the pack for day hiking. But I am visually impaired, so no car. Therefor the Jaeger M with some pouches is a great way to carry 10-20kg w/o a problem from the grocery store. The side zipper gives me the chance to load it more effectifly. Jaeger L has no side zipper. Unlike most other packs in the 30l size, it can well handle it (30+6 w/ snow collar). Esp. w/ the additional alu frame. After all it was designed to do exactly that. 40-60l, even if compressed, that is way too big for day hikes. I had 45l Karrimor SF packs and a NL army Sting w/ side pouches. Side pouches zipped together do the day pack job, but are limited for shopping. The Jaeger M is the best tool for my purpose. No need for a n+1 solution.
The advantage is that the M size is allowed as a carry on on European planes. So as a budget through hiker myself, I save a lot on luggage costs with this pack, taking off the pouches for the boarding proces, stuffing them in a shopper bag as my personal items bag on top of the 'carry on' pack. LOVE IT

I love my savotta, if you want to imrove it more you can order a frontpouch called Savotta Hatka 12 L. It’s awesome.
Yes it is great for dropping your pack and taking essentials

@@ronrover6594 I always Google for best price. I got mine from Varusteleka.

Exact replica 😂 that bag has been around in the Finnish border guard since the 90’s

What company (link) is the leather little bag for some small stuf you carry inside Savotta please?
Good video. That looks like a good pack. Good review. God bless. From Glenn CATT in Massachusetts.
are u aware of any shoulder pads which will fit this pack in a green color?
I am really starting to wonder if Dave contracted Savotta to make the Pathfinder Scout bag, The straps, belt and back are identical.
Yes, they are very similar :)

You can call it Molle, no problem.
Its mostly internet Kommandos being stingy about such small things.

That’s exactly how NOT to attach pouches with molle system.
You feed the straps back inside the pouch... no need for straps...Simple's !

I guess it's that you have a small bag to use for all your day walks and the same bag for a one or 2 nighter bushcraft...
