Seeing so many people that I recognize being interviewed by you all has made me realize that as cliche as it sounds, I guess I really am not alone. It's so encouraging to see so many people discussing the detailed nuances of OCD. These conversations would have been a game changer for me as a young teen first dealing with this disorder, but I'm glad that the conversation is happening now for those that might just be realizing what they have.
I have a question about OCD based on a book I partially read (and sadly lost). A character apparently has it, and I know I have it too. I think we've both been misled by the manipulative eviI of OCD.
the definition of OCD in this episode seems more blurry to me, how do we draw the line between anxiety/social anxiety and OCD ? to me this sounds more like anxiety ; like she said a lot of people have anxiety about leaving the stove on, without it being OCD
ocd is type of anxiety disorder. You can read in the DSM the specific criteria for meeting an ocd diagnosis. Everyone can experience the emotion of anxiety but the degree to which it impacts their lives and the type of symptoms they have is what qualifies it to be a specific disorder or not.
OCD causes Anxiety soo trying to pick out and label Anxiety separate is a folly when the OCD is driving a condition of Anxiety with additional Anxiety on top covering everything. maybe you are projecting your own desire to try and manage your own anxiety...
@@michellepetrie7432 yes i am aware of the relation between anxiety and ocd, compulsions are what distinguishes ocd from anxiety and that’s what i’m not getting from this videos
@@michaelmichaels-tw7wd isn’t anxiety the source of ocd though ? it’s a cycle but anxiety would come first, then cause the compulsion. it’s the source AND the effect

Thank you for sharing but the intonation of your voice is exhausting.
It's so funny, so what should she do? If you're tired of listening to it, just close the video.
I apologize. I love her story but I had to close. Just my thoughts.
