This channel is all about TMJ disorders - what they are, how they manifest, what to do about them and how they relate to other issues that may be going unnoticed in the body such as tongue tie, sleep apnea, ADHD, and more! I will also be posting about being a dentist and a working mom to two wonderful children. Thank you and I hope you enjoy my videos!
Question that may have been asked before but have you had patients with celiac that may have caused TMD? Curious if there is a correlation between gluten and the inflammation if you have celiac or cannot tolerate gluten.
I have not seen that as a direct cause before.
Dr Priya.....to treat TMJ orthotic is the only solution? I wish I could see you in person. It's hard to find a good TMJ Dr here.
I think it’s one of the best solutions but no, it’s not the only one.
@@theTMJdoc Thank you Doc
You're welcome!
It seems my entire family has a jaw issue that I never learned of until now- after doing Invisalign and everything, so my teeth appear aligned but the jaw is nevertheless uneven. I’m meeting with the same orthodontist who did my Invisalign to discover what’s happening… wish me luck😅
Best of luck to you!
I have left sided clicking
I had developed left sided myopia
Why is everything left sided with me
I had an impacted left wisdom tooth is that the reason
Also my headache started when I was 17 the age when wisdom teeth arrive

Hi, Is mastoid process bone increase due to tmj , and pain in that part ?
The bone doesn't get larger but it can certainly be painful for those with TMJ/TMD!
Hey. Is it common for molar tooth extraction to make TMD worse?
It’s not common but it could be
Yes it can happen
What's the purpose of a TMJ splint? Is it always necessary? Or if your jaw is moving pretty normally can you go directly to braces?

I have a dying question! What does it mean if I cannot close my back molars together? Some release from the lateral pterygoid seems to help but the problem comes straight back. I haven’t been able to close my back teeth down for months so would appreciate any help
There are so many things that cause the bite to change, that there’s no way I can answer this over the internet and without follow up questions and discussion. If you’d like you can set up an online consultation with me.
It feels like I have muscle knots around my jaw that I feel is prolonging my current TMJ flare up. Is there a way to speed up the knots loosening?
Try some self-massage. Check out this video:

Hi Prithi! ❤ Nanny Di
Hi Nanny Di! How as you????? 💝
I have never had TMD. After a long dentist appointment I started having jaw and temple pain. Its been two months that I have been on muscle relaxants and NSAIDs. I get random flareups (temple pressure, muscle spasms, etc.. From your experience how long does this last? Can this become chronic for me? Thanks
If it's going to go away on its own, it will calm down in 6-8 weeks. If it doesn't, it could become chronic.
@@theTMJdoc Thanks Doctor, if it does go on for more than 8 weeks, through seeking treatment can I stop it from becoming chronic? In your practice do you solve the chronic cases so I can book an appointment?
@@mmehride1 yes, most of my patients have been in pain for many months.
How to stop mew
What? Mewing is an action you can control. If don’t want to do it, just stop.
Can TMD cause nasal obstruction
No but nasal obstruction can lead to TMD.
Can a tongue tie effect vagus nerve in a negative way?
I don’t know the answer to that question
