  • Dr. Jaz Gulati was gracious enough to invite me onto his wonderful podcast - Protrusive Dental Podcast - to discuss my TMJ work. Little did I know that Dr. Gulati himself does TMJ work and is even teaching a wonderful course on making splints!
    Fellow Dentists - I think you'll find this video valuable as I share how I do my TMJ Examination - step by step - as well as WHY each step is important and can lead you to a good diagnosis! Please watch and feel free to comment and/or ask questions.

    She is wonderful...
    I have learned so much! I've learned that there is NO ONE in the Albany NY area. So sad!! I have been passed on from Dentist, ENT, Pain Management and NOT ONE has examined the mandibular/maxillary area.

    I literally woke up right jaw locked. I pushed a bit with a finger and it got fixed! Then every day when I would wake up the same thing happened and I would keep fixing it. Until one day I couldnt and now it's been 2 days, I can only fit 2 fingers and it's really annoying

      @@theTMJdoc No I thought it would go away on its own but it didnt happen. I also get mad a lot so maybe it could be that I clench my jaw a lot. Also no pain just locked thank you.

    Christine Byer on UA-cam has excellent jaw massage video.
    Menopause TAYLOR on UA-cam is excellent resource on osteopenia and HRT and after 50 bone issues. That is when mine started to be an issue.
    The book BREATH on audible is amazing!

    Dra. Priya, great podcast! I have a question. With a custom orthotic that puts the jaw in its ideal resting position, according to the muscles, does this almost always help chronic night time bruxers and clenchers? Thanks.

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  Рік тому +1

      No appliance can stop clenching or bruxing activity. But a well made tmj orthotic will mitigate the effects of clenching and bruxing.

    Very interesting topics covered. I have overbite and tmj issues. Have had migraines and jaw pain etc. Have had chiro sessions to set my neck and back is helping alot. In my case would you go for orthodontic first and then tackling the tmj? Or the other way round and what is your opinion on removing teeth for orthodontics?

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  3 роки тому +2

      I almost always recommend treating the TMJD first - getting rid of pain and/or joint dysfunction with orthotics, myofascial release, and osteopathic manual jaw manipulation. Then pursuing orthodontia if you want to. I try to avoid removing teeth for orthodontics.

    • @theTMJdoc

      @@jacksmith-ok8tx sometimes a few and sometimes several over many months. That’s not an easy question to answer because tmjd can have so many causes.

    Go ahead, Step on more chiropractor toes. I cringe at all these videos of people getting their necks cracked. 2017 a chiropractor "adjusted" my neck and tore my vertebral artery causing a stroke. Stay away from chiropractors or at least dont let them near your neck!
