Hello from Virginia! I enjoyed your video. Having 60+ years of backpacking experience plus 23 years as a military IDMT/Air Rescue Technician backpacks have been an important part of my life, As a paramedic it's vital to have organization in my backpacks. Consequently, 5.11 quality is crucial in not having a pack fall apart or fail in an emergency. Not one 5.11 pack has caused me any concern in that regard. Now that I'm retired and we're experiencing this incredibly awful pandemic, I use a couple of 5.11 packs for get home and bug out bags. They are "side" models of the company and I was fortunate to buy them on sale, both one third the original prices. I have many military surplus packs, American and NATO, but I wanted something with the "grey man" look. Yesterday, I visited the local 5.11 store and found an incredible grey bag, again one third the original price, and use it as a gym bag as well as an EDC bag with a hidden zippered pocket for my CCW and easily accessible. One 5.11 bag I found extremely capable for extended travel is their duffle bag that can be used as a backpack as well. I bought the smaller liter bag as I travel light (duffle and a backpack). Unfortunately, it was not on sale. Again, the quality of their backpacks is amazing and I'll pass them on to my grandchildren.
Hello Alexander, I think you can stand as testament to how iconic these packs are with the experience to boot. I've certainly never been able to test these to the extent you possibly will have done, however I know to trust these packs above many other packs out there, and I too look forward to handing these down to my grandchild in years to come. Thank you for taking the time to comment Sir, and I wish you all the best in your retirement. Have a great week
My 1.0 just turned 12 years and going strong. The plastic panel against the back disintegrated years ago, I slid a rain poncho into that compartment. Replaced the zipper pulls. Added bungee cord in the front for jacket. The carry system is very comfortable, excellent design. Don't need the ccw option, but the laptop sleeve is a welcome addition. I'm getting the new one just because the old black one is sort of grimy and faded, with ingrained dirt. Otherwise it's holding out. Best pack I've ever had.
I think they got rid of the grommets due to the complaints. The initial idea was to provide a way for moisture to escape (for example from a hydration pack or just generally wet conditions). As far as I understand this made a lot of sense for military usage where items are often water resistant by default and are packed into separate pouches anyway (so there's less concern for water damage) and being among hard conditions often means you can't always put the bag on a dry surface anyway. Just in general some grime and water getting in through the bottom is not a main concern but you want water to get OUT of the bag. However, this bag - as you have pointed out - has reached an iconic status among bushcrafters and EDC enthusiasts alike. Along the years I have run across quite a few forum posts where people complained about the holes on the bottom because - ironically - dirt, mud and water can get IN through them, some people even mentioned bugs crawling their way in through these openings. It's not a huge deal but I think 5.11 realized that the grommets don't provide as much practical benefit especially for their growing EDC fanbase. Also, great quality and editing on the video, keep up the good work! I'm curious to see what other stuff you will feature in your iconic bag series :)
Hi Ewyndall, thanks for the kind words. I can see why they'd removed them. Allowing water to get out easily, also allows it to get in just as easy. You also definitely wouldn't want to put it down, then walk for a few hours to find you now had ants eating your dinner. I have the next pack lined up already. It's been a bit of a grail pack for me so I'm testing it out now. If you do follow me on Instagram you may have already seen it 😊 Have a top week buddy
@@MoorlanderEDC Hello again! Thank you for the reply :) I was just thinking about this bag the other day and its new features and something struck me: how is the CCW compartment going to handle rain? Granted, I don't expect the bag to be waterproof by any means but if the CCW is not sealed or covered somehow (looking at the handy hole between the velcro patches) won't it just gather up water?
@@Ewyndall this is something that has definitely been over looked. There's no drainage in there... However, if you're using it for survival or bushcraft, you can carry fish in there for a few days 😉
Great suspension hoist to showcase the pack. It shows dimension, form, lets in light, enables a fast spin and view of product. All important aspects to consider!
The main reasons I love your videos so much are those little details and answers you give. You can get 100 videos on YT about a backpack like this. But try to find out if it will stand. Or how it looks when wearing it. Only a few YTers are doing it your way - while most of them just show the bags zoomed in. I like how you show yourself wearing the backpack from different sites and when you walk away from the camera. Sometimes I know that a backpack is perfect for me in terms of durability, quality or simply because of its compartments. But I wanna know how it looks on my back before ordering it. Will it be slim? Dangle around? Look too tacticool? You are answering all those questions we really have. Thanks a lot.
Hey StarFox, thanks buddy. This comment has made my week. I'm glad my content is appreciated. I've said this a lot in the past that I always wanted to make the kind of content I'd like to watch which included the bits you touched on. How does it carry, how does it sit, how does it look from different angles etc. I sometimes worry my content is too long however I'd rather it be 10 minutes longer than most others if it means that I get everything in so that people thinking of getting one can feel more confident when spending their hard earned money Have a great weekend buddy and say hello to Falco, Slippy, Peppy and Krystal for me 🤘
I had many backpacks from 5.11 and other companies but rush 12 has something that makes me always return to it. The size, construction and every feature is so close to perfection as I can't replace it with other even more expensive than rush 12
I owned my trustworthy Rush12 for years as my EDC bag and was so convinced that I bought the 72 for my daily missions in the army. Took them all around the world and they're still alive! I then changed my EDC bag for an AMP12 then very recently for the AMP24 and I really love them too. Huge fan of the brand. But just looking at your review nearly makes me want to buy the new Rush or at least going back to my old fellow for a while just to remember "old times" 😂. First video I watch from you and very nice one!
Wow, I'd say then you definitely have first hand experience of just how tough they are. Sometimes going back to an older pack is great. I've talked a lot recently about nostalgia. I'll definitely try and get my hands on an Amp pack to review soon. Have a great weekend buddy, and thanks for watching 👍
Problem I always had with the drainage grommets was they would allow fine dust in the main compartment and cause my tools to malfunction. Love the fact they removed these, I use a bandana to cover the grommet hole. I have had the RUSH MOAB 6 sling pack for the last couple years.
Hi Trapp Man. I think the grommet was a love or hate kind of thing for most people. I've been looking at the MOABs for a while now. I think I'll pick one up
Hi Stu. I think there's a definitely a large collection of the world that echo your experience with these packs. There maybe more expensive packs with way more features out there... BUT!... At this price, the Rush series is king. All the best buddy. Have a cracking weekend
Great review! I love this brand, and most of all, the rush series. I have the original version of the 12 in black swat, and I just bought the 2.0 in doubletap! Just love it. best regards
Really good review. I've been searching for a review that shows the difference. The addition of the laptop protection is what my current Rush 12 has been missing. Solid packs that I use for all my adventures.
Hi Brad. I'm glad this helped. I sometimes worry I get too detailed and my content is too long. It's great to hear that it's appreciated. Have a great weekend buddy
I've been running a 1.0 24 for years. Absolutely amazing packs. Looking into upgrading to this exact pack cause I want one in ranger green. Thanks for the review
You're more than welcome my friend. The Ranger Green is brilliant. There's just something about the packs. 5.11 have hit the sweet spot on the balance of gaulity, materials and price. Have a great week
I Rock the rush 12 (1.0) since years. Its just the best pack ever. I have multiple. For edc range and Camping. Its cheap and Super durable. Not even my Oldest one has any wear at all
You hit something there I forgot to mention in the content here. These backs are as strong as a bank vault, but you don't need a bank vault full of cash to get one. 5.11 Tactical have hit the sweet spot when it comes to value for money with the Rush series. Have a great week TP
@@MoorlanderEDC yeah this pack is a tank. And i dont treat them well at all. There is no damage what so ever. U too man. Stay save in those weird Times.
Been eyeing this bag for a long time. Good thing I waited, I was hesitant to get one because its not laptop friendly compartment. Nice review mate. Keep it up. Cheers!
Hi there. Yep, no highly laptap friendly and still built like a tank 😊 if you do get one, please come back, I'd love to hear you opinion. Have a great week... Ps don't forget those affiliate links 😅... Sorry I had to plug them 😂
Hi NFE, thank you. I really appreciate that. I always try and make the type of content I like to watch and getting decent information to you guys so you can make a decent choice on whether or not whatever I'm talking about is for you. I hope you're well and still managing to get out in the New Forest during these very weird time. Have a great week buddy
@@MoorlanderEDC I’m still getting out mate , I’m lucky I live right on the edge of the new forest. I have a bit of an addiction to backpacks so I love watching reviews on them lol ! I watched your Bandicoot one and put it in my basket along with the same patch on Military 1st but then decided to wait until the next discount email haha ! Great review on that too mate. Have a good week
I'm definitely jealous. I live just far enough away from my beloved Moorlands and the police have been using their ANPR system to fine people who's license plate is registered more than 5 miles away from wherever they're parked. I'm not sure they realise it's a cultural for the King of the Moorlands to be allowed back every now and again to recharge my Moorlands Meter 😂 I really appreciate you watching my videos buddy. You have a great week too
Just picked up a ton of Rush gear. the 12/24 and 72, and the MOAB 6. Time to play around with some new stuff. They also had the Rush delivery and Rush Push, but I'm not sure I'd rather carry those than the MOAB 6 for EDC.
Oh nice. The new bag time is the best. Always fun trying to work out what fits where. I've been looking at the larger Moab (is it the 10ltr?).looks like a really tough sling pack
Excellent review as expected, and with a bit of humor tossed in. Since I've been rucking with a GoRuck Rucker 25l, I really have gotten to like the sternum strap. Thanks for the links as well
Hi Joe. I hope you're well my friend. Thank you for the kind words. I'm a big promoter of sternum strapidness. even with light loads it can make it way easier on the shoulders. It's a feature I always look for.. and weirdly... even feel a wee bit naked when I use packs that don't have one on there. I think I'm becoming a chest strap snob 😆 Have a great week Joe
Double crossing run of the Grand Canyon? As in run across the Grand Canyon? Wow, that sounds like a pretty tough event. How long did it take you to do that?
After some advice. Looking at more camping and bushcraft use. I’m torn between WAS X300 + the Pegasus days sack or the 5.11 rush 12 and 100. Do you have a preference on which offers the better quality. WAS UK made and the X300 has more to offer than the Rush 100 but it’s on the bigger side and I like the tier system the rush range offers to combine daysack and Bergen
Hi, I'm kind of torn on this one. I haven't tried either of the WAS packs, however, all I've heard is glowing reviews. The X300 offers way more support in the suspension system over the Rush100. It's not that the Rush100 is bad however, even though I haven't tried the X300, I'd probably go for that one. Maybe I need to pick up a X300 and try it out myself. I don't have any affiliation with UK Tactical but I've bought a lot from them and they have brilliant sales regularly. If there's a bank holiday soon they'll have 20-25% off on WAS gear - www.uktactical.com/ I hope this helps
Don't really want to say anything bad about 5.11 - I have rush 12-24-72, covrt 18 1.0, 40l deploy bag, t-shirts etc. But the rush 100 is quite simply too massive. A mate of mine bought and I borrowed it for a weekend trip. Even without anything in it - the weight is grotesque. For a bag of that size I would go for karrimor sf Odin, Predator or Sabre. Odin is a masterpiece in itself.
I quite like the double tap, however I with it was all grey. I'm not a fan of the black pals webbing on the grey pack. I really wish they did a completely grey version. The Ranger Green is very similar to adaptive green so blends in with others colours well. Thanks for commenting Tony, have a top weekend buddy
Hi there. That's an issue we never really have to worry about here in the UK 😉 I definitely agree with your point though. The extra pocket to get stuff without having to worry about zippers is great. It's also reasonably concealed so it's not glaringly obvious if someone was trying to get in there without you knowing. Do you mind if I ask where about in the States you are? Just the State. I find learning about local and State laws on CCW fascinating. Stay safe and well fella 👍
Hi Ben. Hope you're well buddy. Yes, I get asked about that jacket. The truth is I picked it up from a charity shop. Quite fittingly, the name is called 'the unknown' and that's all it says inside. I've Googled it a lot and never been able to find where it originally came from. It's a bit of a mystery 🤙
The naming of these packs made me initially skip looking at these bags. I'm glad I went back and checked, though. I've just bought the same bag as in the video.
@@MoorlanderEDC Yeah, I was proper confused when I realised the Rush 24 is 37L. After sifting through tons of Chinese packs that don't seem to understand the dimensions of their packs make their volume claims impossible, I ended up thinking 5.11 was just another overpriced AliExpress special. Happy to be proven wrong, though!
Own a rush24 and it's been with me through all my travels. I've abused that bag like anything and it has barely even scuffed, just "traded paint" in a few spots. Can you tell if you can put a 15" laptop in the hydration area? Going through TSA, it helps to whip out the laptop fast and that's how I use my rush 24. It's not intended, but it works for me.
If I remember rightly the Rush 12 will fit a 15" laptop, the Rush 24 will definitely fit a 15" laptop. Definitely recommend checking the 5.11 website as they do say which sizes they fit. Hoppe that helps Vipin
Hi Richard. I'd love to hear your thoughts when yours arrives. The shemagh was a reasonably inexpensive one from Milspec Surplus on Amazon. I've had two from there and they're great - amzn.to/3P5o0i2 All the best
Hi Bo. Although I can't guarantee it, I'm pretty sure you'd be extremely impressed 👍 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Have a great week
I still Rock the original version to school. What I hate about it is that the bottom is not padded and when I put the bag down with my laptop in it I can hear my system crashing on the ground. Is the 2.0 padded or at least any thicker on the bottom side?
Hello I just order Rush 12 today. My laptop is: 356 x 251 x 16.9 mm (not included shock case but it will be a little bit bigger than the laptop, not too much. Will my Laptop fit the Main Compartment and also with a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi, laptop charger and some personal stuff? This is my first time buy a Rush backpack. I only use it for dailyl work and training BJJ, not travel. Thank you guys!
In my opinion it can - but don't push it. I used a fjellraven kanken 20L to test it. I crammed it completely full - gave everything I could jam into it and nice and easy placed it in the main compartment of the rush 12 - with some free space to put in a rain jacket, a poncho and a pair of pants and some gloves. Just buy it - it's worth the money.
Hi Moorlander, I'd like to see a review from you Rush 12 vs Särmä TST CP15, if it's possible of course. I know they are very different but comparison between them would be great!
Hi DPC, I don't know the greyhound series. I'll have a Google and see what it's like. I do like some good comparison content. Is there a particular pack you had in mind? All the best buddy
Thanks for the kind words, and I'm glad I helped. I'm always interested in what people think, so when it arrives, please come back. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Have a great weekend Number11
@@MoorlanderEDC definitely. I recently received the 24, tried putting some sneaker, clothes towels and school stuffs, and there is still more room inside, though it was bulky to my liking, to big for my frame. So I decided to exchange and downsize to the rush. I’ll see if the 12 can do it
Hi Dave, I think as a series, the Rush line from 5.11 are all build like a tank ✌️. For the price, they're pretty hard to beat when it comes to how tough they are. You can see why the troops love them so much. Thanks for taking the time to comment Dave, Have a great week
I bought the same bag on black friday. Wouldn't do without mine now. It's like my mobile phone you don't realise how much you need it until you have to do without it.
Good day, Have you washed your bag? Do you have any advise for cleaning or washing the rush12? Can I use ordinary detergent for it? Thanks for the response
Hi Richard. I haven't washed it before however if I did I wouldn't use regular washing detergent. I'd check products like Nic Wax Tech Wash. It's more like a soap and will wash off dirt rather that removing any protective coats... However always check the label just incase. Have a great day Richard
How easy is it to access the main compartment without undoing the compression straps? Could I get my laptop out that way? Thanks Side note…the CCW pocket, could I fit a small jacket in there?
Hi Channo. It's really easy to get stuff in and out of the main compartment without opening the compressions straps. You can slide your laptop in and out with ease. The full opening is just easier if you have lots of stuff in there for maybe an over night stay somewhere. You can also fit a jack in the CCW pocket. It needs to be one of the smaller jackets that fold away like a light softshell or wind stopper though. There's plenty of room in there, it's just getting in through the opening, if that makes sense :D Thanks for watch ing buddy
Thanks for the kind words MrBB. The jacket is a no name M65 clone I picked up from an Army and Navy store. The only branding on the inside says U.N.known. Ive searched high and low to find more about them but to no avail. If you manage to find anything please send me some links 👍 have a great weekend buddy
Thanks, glad to hear you enjoyed it. The jacket is a bit of a mystery. I picked it up from a charity shop. I've searched for the brand name and never found it. It has that Vietnam look and feel
Hi its me Extra Leben .. This is my still empty edc channel .. maybe i start making videos someday on this .. thanks to you ;)... i really love the evolution of the new pack .. the bigger glasses pouch (was also on the OG but smaller) .. and the quickdraw pouch are awesome..
Hi Extra. I hope you're well buddy. Thank you too. Yes, these are amazing packs for sure. They're hard to beat, especially on the price. Keep making content buddy. UA-cam is definitely a long run rather than a sprint
Hi Yani. I had to borrow my daughters laptop that day. It's the Lenovo IdeaPad S340. My work laptop is a 16inch MacBook Pro and definitely doesn't fit. I hope this helps buddy. Have a great week
@@MoorlanderEDC Thanks for the quick reply 🙏 This is the factor that changed my decision Will get the 24 2.0 Watched your review on it 😀 It was great 👍
I just picked up this pack on sale for $70. Had to go with grey for the discount, which I otherwise wouldn’t have bought, but I feel like it was a great bargain on this pack.
How's the molle webbing on the side? I have the old rush 12 and the last molle webbing column is too small to weave through. It looks too small on this one too.
Hey Richard. Sorry about the delay getting back to you. It's been one of those weeks 😊 this is the Ranger Green version buddy. Very similar to OD green however a shade lighter and almost looks like there's a grey in there too. Great for EDC and camping. Hope this helps buddy. Have a great week
Hi Rick, the key ring carabiner thing was a free give away with the pack. I got the pack from www.tactree.co.uk . You could always ask if they have any left 👍
I'm going to say yes...kinda. I don't own a 16" MacBook Pro however it did fit my 16" laptop for work. It was a pretty tight squeeze though. It only just fit in and I needed to roll the top zip back to get it in and out. I know there's a lot of content out there for this. Chances of somebody trying it with a 16" MacBook will be high. Hope that helps
Great video, I own the original and loved this review. I hope to get my hands on the 2.0 because it will carry my iPad 12.9 better than the original, as it just flops around inside.. thumbs up from Canada.
Hi William. Hope Canada is doing well today... Sending some Commonwealth good spirit. This will be perfect for your use, and really protect your iPad too. Have a great week buddy
@@MoorlanderEDC Everything is great over here, but just got some more snow again but it shouldn't stay long.. and I did purchase this 2.0 a day after watching your review.. you have a great week also..
Ha ha ha... I think if the Nerf gun will fit you shouldn't need to worry. Although the camera lighting wasn't the best outside the inside of the CCW section does have a large hook & loop panel in there to help to anchor a holster to. I've been thinking for a while of getting a few airsoft replicas so that I can show off CCW sections better here in my channel. It's definitely something I get asked about a bit here. may be Glock 17 and a S&W 38spl for range of sizes. Thanks for watching PRB, have a great week
I've started to put a disclaimer in all my content where finger pistol techniques are used. Having dedicated my life to it, I'd hate for any of these advanced techniques to be copied and mis-used. I think it's important for your own safety and for the safety of those around you 😀
Hi Fatkhoa, yes, unfortunately this is a downside for the new CCW section. There isn't a cover to the top, and there's also no drainage from the CCW section either (apart from the top opening). I haven't had much chance to proper test it in the rain completely. I'm not sure the main compartment would get too wet, however it's something to keep my eyes on and maybe make a follow up piece of content in a year or so's time. Thanks for watching and taking the time comment 👍
@@MoorlanderEDC This is a huge downside....also there are no drainage holes in the bottom of the main compartment. The only 2 things I can see that are better are a padded laptop sleeve and a larger sunglasses compartment. I would say that this 2.0 is not better than the first version.
@@nataliyaloyer my friend is a seamstress and she said the same. Super simple and easy to add if needed. I hope you're well Nataliya and having a great weekend. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
lmao nerf gun in the CCW section. As they say, it's nerf or nothing. Cool pack btw, been thinking of getting one to replace my deteriorating High Sierra clunker. Especially now, I'm shaving off the kilos I put on during the pandemic by returning to gym and walking like 7km home everyday, so my old pack is really showing its age and lack of quality. If it's good enough for the military, it's certainly good enough for my fat stupid butt.
Hi Benson. Imagine getting mugged and you pull out a Nerf gun. I'd like to think that's pretty OG 😂 It's definitely a great back for sure. I'll hopefully be getting the Rush24 2.0 soon to test out and review so there may be a larger option if your other back will last. I too am really looking forward to getting out more this summer. This years winter plumage is a but thicker than last years. Have a cracking week buddy
Before I give you an answer I have to address your name. That, sir, is an epic name, and I doth my cap to thee 🤣. The jacket is an M65 style jacket I randomly found in a charity shop. It says "u.n.known" on the label, but I've never been able to find another on like it. Plus an old Nike hoodie underneath 👍
Ooooooooooooh, now this may be a spopiler, but, I'm trying to get my hands on a Dragon Egg. When I think about iconic packs the Dragon Egg is in that top list... I can neither confirm or deny that it will be having some 'ICONIC' content in the future. Thanks for leaving a comment CC MOGS, have a top weekend
I have had one of these for a few years now. Use everyday for work but also for some shooting, taking couple of bunnies etc... I've had the panel start to come away and now had some buckles break on them as well. Thinking of getting one of these. Had the 72 issued to me in black and seems bomb proof. Just can't decide on the 12 or the 24!
It's ICONIC! FT, you owe it to yourself to check it out. There definitely a reason these packs are chosen by so many military personnel... And Joe Puic like me 😂 have a great week chap 👍
Hi Björn, thanks for watching. This is pretty much OD green. The 5.11 tactical site called it Ranger Green. It's probably only a slight share lighter than OD green, but from a distance you really couldn't tell the difference. I hope that helps buddy. Have a great week
From what I could tell in my local 5.11 store, ranger green is kinda more of a grey/green where as OD green is actually green. Kind of like how coyote and kangaroo are kind of similar yet different.
Nah. Superficial review. You didn't even touch upon the question whether the CCW-pocket would accommodate my MacBook Pro for the occasional life-threatening emergency Illustrator-jobb. 🤪😝 PS: Just kidding as usual -- and a nice review as usual. Still think that I prefer my TT modular packs. Have really perfected various "modules" in different tiers, moving them in and out of different packs, depending on the day's (or weekend's) tasks.
Ah don't worry, if you needed to you could fit in an over price iPencil to take down some attackers John Wick styled 😂 The Mission will definitely be getting the credit it deserves on the Iconics list... (whispers) but that's a secret between the two of us. Have a cracking week Thomas, and as always, thank you for watching 👍

Hi, I had to rewatch the content to triple check 😆 That's the EDC pouch - ua-cam.com/video/9N-KxP-YaZY/v-deo.html It's similar to the Leader and Admin out however a wee bit larger for some extra items
Hi there. Yes, I've just double checked the 5.11 website and they say it'll fit a 15inch laptop. As far as yours being 15.6, I wouldn't worry too much... Although I havent tried it myself. The laptop here was my daughters 14 inch laptop. The Rush 24 will up to a 17 inch laptop. Have a great weekend

Hi, yes, it's padded all round. The back part has the extra padding from the water bladder section. When there's a laptop in there you can hardly feel it against your back. I hope this helps 🤙 all the best
@@TheNoobReviews the Ratel is an awesome pack. Helikon Tex have really impressed me with their gear over the last 12 months. Those crazy Pole sure know how to make some amazing gear 👍

Hi there, if I remember correctly 5.11 use Ranger Green over OD green. They're very similar however the ranger green is a wee bit more muted with a slightly grey'er colour. I really like ranger green over OD. I hope that helps buddy
Hi SM, it's DWR coated to help repel rain, however the zips aren't aquaguard or the seems aren't taped. It's as water proof as it can be. I hope this helps buddy
Hey RK, I definitely recommend the Rush 24 then. It has a larger fit and is still perfect for EDC. I made some content on that too... That might help your decision. Have a great weekend 👍
I am no expert , but if they include a laptop sleeve and expect people to use the bag with laptop in it ,drainage holes might not be a good idea ? Fine if you are crawling in wet mud ,a trip to the cafe with laptop, not so much ? Personally I hate laptop sleeves I never use them , extra bulk and I tend to rip them out .
That is a very valid point. They've took a turn towards the EDC market here. Some people may chose to use it more like a cross over bag. Hardcore commute Monday to Friday, hardcore adventure Saturday to Sunday. The GoRuck GR1 has a laptop section and I'm sure you've seen what crazy stuff people get up to with them 😂 have a cracking week Rob 👍
Actually, I am not sure whether this would be a problem in reality? When carrying a laptop, I wouldn't choose to put the backpack anywhere close to water that might seep in through the drainage holes anyways? And the laptop should still be protected from rain or other fluids coming from all directions but below, especially given the "inch or two" that the Moorlander mentioned being between the laptop sleeve and the bottom of the pack? I could even see a theoretical advantage: personally, I had my laptop shutting down on me during commutes a couple of times. I had it run some taxing rendering-tasks while in the backpack and the temperature protection kicked in to prevent overheating. In such situations, the drainage holes might just have given it the fresh air it needed? -- But that's admittedly a rather narrow use case...
And upon further introspection: I actually can't remember the last time I put a backpack into a puddle (which in practice would be the risk with drainage holes, wouldn't it?) I *do* however remember a few times I had bottles leak in a backpack. I'd definitely prefer drainage holes in such situations as compared to marinating my laptop 😉
@@ThomasSelig I think there might be pros and cons either way ? My 2 favourite bags are camalbak HAWG with drain holes and a very heavy duty Mountain Hardware multi-pitch 20 canvas x-ply and kevlar with no drain hole , I can go either way . But then I never carry laptops. Horses for course I guess
After seeing this great quick review I can say I prefer the old version. Drainage holes and a larger shove it compartment works better for me. I like you decked it out with nite ize glow stick. Could you post a picture of the front compartment?
Fantastic review. Sucks your country is such a downer with regard to gun rights (you limeys need to get that changed!). 😉 I have an older Rush 24 and bought the exact pack you reviewed (Rush 12 2.0) for my EDC. My *only* regret is that it’s not made in the US. I typically buy US-made gear first and foremost. I even pay a premium for it, generally (my thousands of dollars worth of TAD Gear can attest).
Hey MrT, maybe one day I'll make a piece of content on our gun laws over here in the UK. Although we can't CCW, we do have a large and thriving gun community over here. I think the foreign media paint the UK firearm community with a 'prude' stick 😄 but your still right... I wish we had the US' 2A rights here I'd love to pick your brains on the TAD gear side. I've been lucky enough to recently get a couple of my grail packs, and there's only really one left... How do you like the TAD Fast Pack EDC? The Litespeed is probably more attainable, however I think the 28ltrs of the EDC makes it more versatile. Do you have an experience with either of the two packs? I love geeking over backpacks 😄 Have a great weekend buddy
@@MoorlanderEDC I have both packs, in multiple generations, as well as the Patrol Size. All in Multicam. Triple Aught Design has great attention to detail and are very well thought out. I recommend them without hesitation. They keep getting better and better each iteration, removing features that don’t work as well (like the “storm” flap over zippers on side pockets that made egress/ingress of items a tad... ahem... harder than they should be). Basically TAD Gear sets the bar, imo. With that said, 5.11 really surprised me on quality. I had honestly avoided them due to foreign manufacture and maybe a little gear snobbiness; but once I got a Rush 24 in a trade (in MC), I was seriously impressed with quality/organization. Mainly in stitching, which is where a lot of asian-made gear falls apart... literally. That and using quality stuff like YKK, Cordura, etc. PS: Would love a UK primer video on gun laws. Do you have a gun rights advocacy group like the NRA over there?
@@MrTangent SOLD!! I'll take two please ✌️ I'm going to save up and make the EDC my next purchase for sure. I've started an Iconic series about backpacks and bags that really hold a legendary status for me. Although I've never owned a Fast Pack, It's already on that list. My eyes to south east Asian products really was opened when it came to Tasmanian Tiger gear. They're designed in Germany and in the 80s (I think it was then) they paid to have their own promises over their and make sure they're employees were looked after trained to the highest German standard going. TT's gear is world class and held to the highest regards here in Europe. It is a shame that products can't all me made in the west however that local craftsmanship does some with that price tag... I guess it helps to open up the market to make sure there's a product available to everyone. Even GoRuck did a range of packs made in Vietnam that they over saw to make sure it was up to their standard to get their gear out to a wider audience I wonder is the black market kidney trade is still going... I could get me a Fast Pack EDC sooner than later 😀
Well im from south of France, country where everyday a revolution-again-something begin (ahah ! ). But here a great thing, for a person who love eating good meal like me there is not an other place in the world i would like living in. 🤗
So nice. I've spent many summers in the North and South of France. I was in Nice pre-Covid on the last night of the carnival. I think I put on 10kgs in the 4 days I was there 😁
@@MoorlanderEDC Interesting ! I don't know myself how Nice is haha, there is a lot of british people who like to go in France during their holidays but here the problem : Covid-era prevent to travel freely even for vaccinated people but its also a chance in certain manner : we can discover some part of our countries, i know some south cities of France but little enough so this summer i project to go in Monaco maybe (le "rocher" seems to be so beautiful).
Just an idea..at the end you say "stay safe". and that's fine and all, but many of us are getting tired of losing our freedom from government in the name of "safety". Everything is about keeping us "safe". Could you change or add, "stay free" to the sign off? Freedom is much more important. Do we want to sacrifice our safety to remain free? Or would we prefer to give up our freedom to be "safe". ? Thanks! Great channel
Hi FN. The main reason I used the close I did was a daft throw back to Jerry Springer where he'd do those drawn out "everyone should love each" closes. I full embrace free will, free speech, equality and most all freedom. Although I don't say that part... For me being a Moorlander is all about those values. I have thought about changing the end however I wanted to keep it playful and none political. A safe place where no one feels unwelcome and everybody is equal. I think we'd put the world straight with a pint or two if we had the chance. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment 🤜🤛
What the fuck are you ranting about. What the hell does being safe have to do with anything with freedom. You don’t like being safe? You want freedom? Alright go drink 5 shots of vodka and go drive your car down the feeeway so you can express your freedom. What an idiotic comment.
@@MoorlanderEDC Thank you, sir! Have a wonderful day. Be safe.
The four differences from the v1.0 are
The laptop comp
Ccw comp
The back untislick material
Drainage holes
Nice review
You're more than welcome Ramon. Have a great weekend
and they have also put only one hole for the hydration bag hose
Thanks John. Glad to hear you enjoyed it
The main reasons I love your videos so much are those little details and answers you give.
I sometimes worry my content is too long however I'd rather it be 10 minutes longer than most others if it means that I get everything in so that people thinking of getting one can feel more confident when spending their hard earned money
Have a great weekend buddy and say hello to Falco, Slippy, Peppy and Krystal for me 🤘
I had many backpacks from 5.11 and other companies but rush 12 has something that makes me always return to it. The size, construction and every feature is so close to perfection as I can't replace it with other even more expensive than rush 12
Hi Andrei, you're mingst good company my friend. The Rush is definitely a huge fan favourite with lots of people 😊 all the best
I think I'll pick one up
I couldn't agree more. I've had the first version of this for 6 years and it's still going strong. As we said in the military this is 'bombers'
Hi Stu. I think there's a definitely a large collection of the world that echo your experience with these packs. There maybe more expensive packs with way more features out there... BUT!... At this price, the Rush series is king. All the best buddy. Have a cracking weekend
You are very quick on the draw. I think you could give Clint Eastwood a run for his money. 😀
I'm the good, the bad and the ugly all rolled into one 😄
I'd let him win to honour him 😎 what a legend
Great review! I love this brand, and most of all, the rush series. I have the original version of the 12 in black swat, and I just bought the 2.0 in doubletap! Just love it. best regards
Really good review. I've been searching for a review that shows the difference. The addition of the laptop protection is what my current Rush 12 has been missing.
Solid packs that I use for all my adventures.
Hi Brad. I'm glad this helped. I sometimes worry I get too detailed and my content is too long. It's great to hear that it's appreciated. Have a great weekend buddy
Got the Rush 24 2.0 after watching your review. Now I want the 12 too 😅. Thanks for your review. ♥️🙏 From the Philippines.

You have a great week too
You make a great review and concise (and informative ) video good sir.
Thank Julius. It's always great to hear my content is liked. I hope you're well and safe, and having a great week
I picked up a rush12 in tan for my double crossing run of the Grand Canyon in October, last year I was Ill prepared when doing the Grand Canyon !
Double crossing run of the Grand Canyon? As in run across the Grand Canyon? Wow, that sounds like a pretty tough event. How long did it take you to do that?
cool video mate, had been looking at 5.11 bags, your video provided much needed infos, cheers!
You're more than welcome. Always great to hear I've helped. Hope you're having a great week
If there's a bank holiday soon they'll have 20-25% off on WAS gear - www.uktactical.com/
I hope this helps
Don't really want to say anything bad about 5.11 - I have rush 12-24-72, covrt 18 1.0, 40l deploy bag, t-shirts etc. But the rush 100 is quite simply too massive. A mate of mine bought and I borrowed it for a weekend trip. Even without anything in it - the weight is grotesque. For a bag of that size I would go for karrimor sf Odin, Predator or Sabre. Odin is a masterpiece in itself.
That ranger green looks beautiful. I'm in a debate between the Green and Double tap
Ranger Green all the way. For reasons mentioned above, but also for getting pouches later to match.
Double tap
@@quinine600mg (looks hideous)
Who won the debate?
Only change I like is they added the concealed pocket. I never off body carry but I can usethat pouch for other things.
Good info. Should you use it for Rucking, where would you place a weight plate ? and also... which waist belt would go right with it?
Strange question 3 years later, what jacket/coat is that your wearing? I like it!
Totally agree! They should have called them the volume size not the day usage 😂
Hoppe that helps Vipin
awesome video review. i will for sure pick this up. also, can you please tell me where you got that grey shemagh or possibly what size it is?
Hi Richard. I'd love to hear your thoughts when yours arrives. The shemagh was a reasonably inexpensive one from Milspec Surplus on Amazon. I've had two from there and they're great - amzn.to/3P5o0i2

That pack looks great! Just ordered one. Thx.
You're now a member of a growing club my friend
Hello I just order Rush 12 today. My laptop is: 356 x 251 x 16.9 mm (not included shock case but it will be a little bit bigger than the laptop, not too much.
Will my Laptop fit the Main Compartment and also with a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi, laptop charger and some personal stuff? This is my first time buy a Rush backpack.
I only use it for dailyl work and training BJJ, not travel. Thank you guys!
Very Tempting to get the 5.11 ... Esp when u say that the military guys use it ... 24L looks really spacious like it can fit more than that
In my opinion it can - but don't push it.
Hi Moorlander,
I'd like to see a review from you Rush 12 vs Särmä TST CP15, if it's possible of course. I know they are very different but comparison between them would be great!
Leave it with me buddy. Let me see what I can fit in. I'm sure I could sort something 🤙

@@MoorlanderEDC definitely. I recently received the 24, tried putting some sneaker, clothes towels and school stuffs, and there is still more room inside, though it was bulky to my liking, to big for my frame. So I decided to exchange and downsize to the rush.

Don't own the Rush 12 but I got the Rush 24 in multi cam and its been a solid work/range/edc bag I guarantee you'll like it

Good day,
Have you washed your bag? Do you have any advise for cleaning or washing the rush12? Can I use ordinary detergent for it?
Thanks for the response
Hi Richard. I haven't washed it before however if I did I wouldn't use regular washing detergent. I'd check products like Nic Wax Tech Wash. It's more like a soap and will wash off dirt rather that removing any protective coats... However always check the label just incase. Have a great day Richard
Thanks for the info 👍
review very good action.. 555 thank you for this clip
How easy is it to access the main compartment without undoing the compression straps? Could I get my laptop out that way? Thanks
Side note…the CCW pocket, could I fit a small jacket in there?
Nice vid, thanks! God bless you and your country, here's to wishing your laws change for the better regarding EDC tool. 🍻
Thank you my friend. My kindest regard to you too. I hope you're well. Thanks for watching 🍻

I wonder can the Rush 12 take more than its stated 24L .. even without additional Molle pouches it looks like it can? Let me know... I might get one.

Hi Puupii. That's a detail I didn't realise notice sorry. I had to send this pack back so I'm not able to check now
True. But I wouldn't put very wide pouches on the sides anyway.

This is the ranger green colour

What’s the color of this rush 2.0.? Great review. Keep it up 👍
Hey Richard. Sorry about the delay getting back to you. It's been one of those weeks 😊 this is the Ranger Green version buddy. Very similar to OD green however a shade lighter and almost looks like there's a grey in there too. Great for EDC and camping. Hope this helps buddy. Have a great week

@@MoorlanderEDC Thanks. Yes. I will go for the ranger version. It is time to change. I have 2 black bags and now ranger. A huge from Spain!
What’s that key ring holder your showing on the pack? Where can you find one ? Thanks
Hi Rick, the key ring carabiner thing was a free give away with the pack. I got the pack from www.tactree.co.uk . You could always ask if they have any left 👍
will these fit a 16in macbook pro?
I'm going to say yes...kinda. I don't own a 16" MacBook Pro however it did fit my 16" laptop for work. It was a pretty tight squeeze though. It only just fit in and I needed to roll the top zip back to get it in and out. I know there's a lot of content out there for this. Chances of somebody trying it with a 16" MacBook will be high. Hope that helps
hello. nice video. What colorway is this? planning to buy.
This is the Ranger Green pack 🤘

Great video, I own the original and loved this review. I hope to get my hands on the 2.0 because it will carry my iPad 12.9 better than the original, as it just flops around inside.. thumbs up from Canada.

Nice. Been looking at this pack for a while. Will be able to put my 9mm Glock 34 in the CCW section. Oh, no, wait, I live in the UK. Damn! 🤣
Seriously though, no side pouches for water bottles?

Hi, I'm wondering if rain water can get into the CCW section? then maybe soaked into the main compartment?
I would say that this 2.0 is not better than the first version.

lmao nerf gun in the CCW section.
I'd like to think that's pretty OG 😂
It's definitely a great back for sure. I'll hopefully be getting the Rush24 2.0 soon to test out and review so there may be a larger option if your other back will last. What jacket do u have that's awesome?
Before I give you an answer I have to address your name. That, sir, is an epic name, and I doth my cap to thee 🤣. The jacket is an M65 style jacket I randomly found in a charity shop. It says "u.n.known" on the label, but I've never been able to find another on like it. Plus an old Nike hoodie underneath 👍
Nice bag but it"s hard to beat (imo) the DA dragon egg admin. layout , good vid. :)
What colour is it? ODC green? or a new colour?
Hi Björn, thanks for watching. This is pretty much OD green. The 5.11 tactical site called it Ranger Green. It's probably only a slight share lighter than OD green, but from a distance you really couldn't tell the difference. I hope that helps buddy. Have a great week
From what I could tell in my local 5.11 store, ranger green is kinda more of a grey/green where as OD green is actually green. Kind of like how coyote and kangaroo are kind of similar yet different.
Perfectly put. Out of the colours, I find it's the least military looking - even though its called Ranger Green. Its more of a grey man colour
Nah. Superficial review.
You didn't even touch upon the question whether the CCW-pocket would accommodate my MacBook Pro for the occasional life-threatening emergency Illustrator-jobb. 🤪😝
PS: Just kidding as usual -- and a nice review as usual. Still think that I prefer my TT modular packs. Have really perfected various "modules" in different tiers, moving them in and out of different packs, depending on the day's (or weekend's) tasks.

useful information
Hi TFG, Glad you think so! Have a great weekend
And upon further introspection: I actually can't remember the last time I put a backpack into a puddle (which in practice would be the risk with drainage holes, wouldn't it?)
I *do* however remember a few times I had bottles leak in a backpack.
I have an older Rush 24 and bought the exact pack you reviewed (Rush 12 2.0) for my EDC.
I wish we had the US' 2A rights here
I'd love to pick your brains on the TAD gear side. I love geeking over backpacks 😄
Have a great weekend buddy
Even GoRuck did a range of packs made in Vietnam that they over saw to make sure it was up to their standard to get their gear out to a wider audience
I wonder is the black market kidney trade is still going... I could get me a Fast Pack EDC sooner than later 😀
