I've had a bunch of Rush packs over the last decade but the one in particular that I have beat the snot out of is my Rush 12. It's over a decade old and it started out as my edc and then I use it now as a weight training bag. I honestly thought it would fail at some point because I was brutal to it. 70+ lbs inside in rigorous training and took everything I threw at it. The only failure was the D-ring on the sternum strap (it shattered but the bag still works). Great bags!
Very clever to hang this pack up when reviewing it. Lot of these guys do the desktop style review and its awkward to see the compartments, etc. Hanging it up makes it easy to see how it will fit on your but also display all the pockets etc. Props to you
Hye Tyler, thank you. It 100% seemed logical to me. If you see others doing it, know you saw is here first 🤣 I have another piece of tree hung content out tonight on the GoRuck GR1 👌

I own the 12, 24, and 72. The 12 is my oldest one (10+ years) and my wife uses it for travel. Still looks great. She has taken it all over the states and to Haiti. I did upgrade my Rush 24 1.0 to the 2.0 for the CCW pocket.
Got one of these two years ago. I've thrown it around alot and it's in good shape still, got it from a guy who was in the army and didn't want it anymore.
Finally a person who shows what it looks like when you carry the bag. Very few videos show us the bag when it is worn. Very good video! Hello from France !
Hello from just across the sea. I hope you're well my friend. I think if you're talking about a backpack its the least you can do 😀 I'm glad you enjoyed my content. All the best
Awesome review! Happy to see more people like this style of packs. I fell in love with the rush series 10 years ago. I got the sandstone 12, 24 and 72. The 12 was my daily companion with water, first aid, some tools and cover. The 24 was perfect for the weekends. The 72 however I had setup as a bug out bag. Unfortunately for the 72, being fully loaded, I came to the conclusion that my length of 184cm didn't play well with the load distribution. So I sold that one. Nowadays I use the 24 as my EDC when going out with the family. It's perfect for that bit of extra kit and food you need to provide them along the day. I forgot to mention: after 10 years still like new!
Hey Ard. Sing it loud and proud brother 😊 100% agree on the pack use. Hopefully when we can start to get out more I'll make sure the 24 gets really used and maybe make another catch up next year... and then in 10 years time. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Stay safe and well wherever you find yourself
When you owned your 72, we’re you able to make it fit inside (provided that you didn’t fill the pack zipper busting full) the overhead compartment during international flights?
Excellent review. I just ordered my 24. I've been thinking for while of adding this to my 72 which I love because of the many compartments. The 72 is my first choice for long car trips of a week or more. It's so easy to stay organised during this time. For the shorter trips usually by air, I have been eyeing the 24 for some time and finally, with a week away at a conference, I've pulled the trigger on the 24 to cover my needs for this sort of travel. The 72 is clearly built to last and it sounds like the 24 is too. Now the temptation to add the 12 for my commute to work 😅 Lets face it, travelling is always somewhat stressful but a good pack can make the whole thing an enjoyable experience. I agree with you about the extra compression strap.
Hi Junosensis, welcome to the collective 😁 there's definitely a common thread here for people thinking about getting one. Don't get one for yourself... Get one for your kids and their kids when they pass it down in 30 years 🤣 have a great week buddy
I have a 511 AMP 24 that I've been using as my daily work bag (as a paramedic) for 5 years. And a Rush 72 that I use for search and rescue. Just ordered a Rush 24 to replace the AMP 24, but to be clear the AMP isn't being retired, just going to be used for a different purpose.
I've had a Rush 24 version 1 for just over 5 years. It's used and abused most days (Monday - Friday daily use for work and occasional weekend use) and it looks the same as it did the day it came out of the packet, despite being abused and frequently overloaded. Absolutely tough as nails. I think the Rush 24 is literally the perfect 24 hour / EDC pack. I fitted a MOLLE Nalgene carrier to the side of mine.
Hey Cen, you've clearly got a lot of experience with this pack 😊 100% agree on it being built to last. After the zombie apocalypses these backs will still be around. Have a great week
@@coolguywithhat Yes, vanquest make bomb proof gear and this is no exception. It’s expensive for what it is but totally worth it. Just checked on Amazon and they’re still available.
I've been using the Rush 12 for at least 5 years now. Mostly for hiking and bushcraft. I can definetly confirm that they're really build to last. I haven't been treating my pack well. It's been thrown around, seated on, falling into water and mud but it still looks great except for some scratches on the buckles and zippers. I might even pick up the new Rush24 just for this extra space. Great review, thank you :)
Hey PK, you'll be the first of many wh share a similar story 🤙if you do get the 24, please come back. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Stay safe and well
i have a 5.11 tactical rush 72 for about 8 years now, it just needs a little bit of cleaning and nothing needs fixing, this is one of my greatest buys of my life LOL
Hi LS, I think you're a member of a growing club my friend. So many people have had these packs and they're still kicking after so crazy adventures. Thanks for watching
I got this bag for 5 years and still going strong. Rock solid and very tough bag. In lock down time i put weights in it and it became my training weight back. Cheers.
Hi DD. You're in great company my friend. There's a lot of people who have similar and had these for years. 5.11 make amazing backpacks. I hope you're well my friend and having a great weekend
Thanks really appreciate you responding and that information does shed new light on the expense enjoying the pack so far camped out last night was great. Plenty of extra room.
This backpacks older version, used to have 2 issues. 1 was the stitching, especialy on the shoulder straps area, where the straps are swean,(that stitching in both sides used to fail after a while). Also the lack of belt straps. These are the reasons why, I upgraded to the Tasmanian Tiger Mission Pack MK II, which I watched 5-6 times your review on it, before I get it!! The quaity is night and day in my opinion. Just the fact, that it can carry more weight and make it feel way less than what you actually carry, is enough reason ,to claim that! Keep it up mate, I really like your reviews and the fact, that you always bring some of the best, if not the best gear on your videos!! Cheers
5.11 definitely went through a period of issues with their packs and quality control. They've certainly addressed those issues. I've had a few people mention the Rush 24 and the Mission Pack and I think this would be a great piece of content to make. On one hand you have the Rush. It's made like a tank and is great value for money. On the other you have the Mission that's also a brutally strong pack, that adds more features for the extra price. It gives great choice in the market. I think there's a definite US home grown factor with the Rush which has made it the easy choice for US troops and backpackers alike. Really appreciate your kind works my friend. Thank you for you continued support. Have a great weekend 👍
I have the v1 version for almost 11 years. I can't say it looks like new. But it still does its job. I've lost one of the bottom rings from a water-out hole - I was afraid the bottom would clash, but it's still able to carry weight for the last 8 years. The thing I missed a lot was a place for a laptop. I used a hydration pocket for it where 15-inch laptops fit well. P.S. When I bought it in December 2013, it was already hot in Kyiv during the Revolution of Dignity. The guy in the shop, as a joke, suggested replacing the hard plate from the back with an armor plate.
I have the original rush 24. Using it for 11-years, it’s still going but it’s starting to show it’s age. Color is fine but the seems for the compression straps are starting to pop as well on the bottom and the bungee inside failed a year ago. I’ve used mine for an edc bag for work and it’s flown millions of miles and lived on the passenger floor of numerous vehicles. It’s been in data centers and rural sites Used it for a range bag and put a 30-cal ammo can in it for a pistol class and surprisingly it didn’t tear any of the fabric. Plus the countless other adventures it went on. For lower compression straps I recommend to people is 5.11 sells a tier system for the rush series, which is supposed to be used to strap the 12 to a 72. But you can set them up as compression straps for the 24 and it makes it in my mind the ultimate all around bag because you can compress it down really thin and expand it out when needed and still keep things where you want them to be.
Hi Adam. I'd say that's a glowing report on how well these packs can do. That's definitely what you'd class as heavy use 👍thank for the suggestions on the compression straps. Have a great week buddy
Well sir I must thank you for this awesome review walk round. I have had this bag a few months and use it daily for work, I had no idea it had that ccw pocket in front nor the 2 side bottle holders haha. You have just improved a bag that I lived a lot before this knowledge. An instant new subscriber and a like. Cheers, I'm off to explore your channel.
I'm so behind on getting back to people 😂 thank you for the kind words Kris. Glad I helped you with a few features that were hidden away from you. Thanks for watching and the sub
I’m glad I bought the original version of this pack. Not sure what they were thinking of off body CCW??? Rain would drown your weapon in this pack if you choose to use the pouch. Also they are straying from the reason they designed this pack in the first place. I’m not bringing a laptop on anything I’m doing in the woods or survival situation. No drainage is an issue on this pack. With the addition of the laptop sleeve they eliminated the two pouches inside too. I added compression straps to the bottom using the pack to pack straps that 5:11 sells. Still a great pack, no matter what version you get. Anyway thanks for your review of this pack and video.
Great review! I use mine as a business bag, i travel 100+ days a year across Europe and it is ideal. It still looks like new, and i get a lot of compliments which is nice :-) This bag is the real deal when it comes to value for money.
Hi Matt. I'm glad to hear my content helped. Welcome to a long list of very happy Rush owners 😊 It's definitely a great pack, especially for the price. When yours arrives, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Have a great week

Hey Maj. Thanks for watching and commenting. I think you're part of the 5.11 Rush club 😀 there's definitely a legendary status attached to the packs. Here's to the next 5 years. Have a great week
I have a rush Moab and rush 72 I’ve had them both for 6ish years. The 72 has gone on many flights as a carryon as well as many other trips, long hikes, hunts etc. The Moab is my every day and both look perfect and I’ve had no issues with them at all.
Hi RD, thanks for the comment my friend. It's definitely easy to recommend these packs just down to how tough they are. I need to grab a Moab to test out. Which one is it you have?
@@MoorlanderEDC The Moab 10 is the larger sling bag that is apart of the Rush series. I chose this one because the Moab can be attached to the 72 via the compression strap clips. This makes the 72 a great combination for a go bag/emergency bag set up. All my EDC/get home gear is in the sling bag and if something such as a tornado comes through I just attach the two to each other and I have everything I need together . This makes it so I only have to carry one bag rather then trying to figure out how carry both or transferring gear between bags.
I've got this backpack for the past 3 weeks, still looks like brand new, even those orange labels are still there! On a more serious note, I hope that 5.11 would step up and do something with the size - the 12 is too small, while 24 is too big.
Love the additional hidden pocket and the padded laptop compartment. But I still love the original design. Got mine for over a year now. Thanks for the detailed review! Love it.
Hi John. Thank you for the kind words. I think there'll be plenty of people like yourself who still love the original. I think the updates 5.11 have been subtle and maybe not enough for many to feel they need to upgrade. Although I didn't touch on it in the content here, I think a lot of the other changes we don't wee will be in the manufacturing process. How they're put together and the fabric sections are cut. After making the original for so long, I imagine new processes have made them easier and cheaper for them to produce. Have a great week buddy
Hello Moorlander EDC, congratulations on this great presentation of the 5.11 Rush Pack. I have been using the older version since 2008 and have been all over the world with this tactical pack. Mostly I carried clothes for a few days, but also various mission material. The backpack still looks like new, although it has often been badly treated in hatracks on planes by other passengers' hard cases. Thumbs up for this review and this backpack, which I can really recommend as well. Anything you want to do with it, it will go through with you.
Thank you my friend. I really like to try and make detailed content and it's always good to hear it's appreciated. It sounds like you've really put your pack through the mill. I think 5.11 have hit that sweet spot of quality and price. Stay safe and well Sir 👍
Hi Moorlander. First of all I want to congratulate you for the awesome reviews that you make. Very enlightening and precise and with a lot of quality. I am a huge fan of your work and, gladly, your subscriber. In this review, in particular, I just want to add some more details from my experience owning 2 rush 24 2.0, 1 rush 12 and also a Mission Pack from Tasmanian Tiger. I think that the quality, resistance and toughness of the American 5.11 are unbeatable. The Mission Pack is my oldest and my first military style pack and i find it quite comfortable and its my first choice in European manufacturers. Comparing with 5.11 , the cordura is less resistant (700D I think against 1050D) and has less compartments and lack of admin compartments but I find it more comfortable fully loaded on my back having the same capacity, 37 L when compared with the Rush 24. On the other hand, 5.11 rush series are extremely resistant and, has you said, after hiking and trowing it to dusty ground it still looks new. Being on the military service and a fan of nature and hiking 5.11 are the best. So, after your brilliant review i Just want to add, from may personal experience the following: the thing that I like the most in the 5.11 rush series is the back panel. I hike under more than 30ºC and the sweat disappears rapidly after a brief pause. The material is almost impermeable. Its amazing and high standard for me since most of the backpacks have some kind of mesh sponge material, comfortable and breathable, but that deteriorates with time due to the sweat. With 5.11 Rush series this doesn't happen. I already had 2 First Tactical Backpacks , probably , 5.11 main competitors in America I was truly disappointed about backpack structure, some how fragile and the backpack color that fades way under sun light. Hope to see a review from you one day about First tactical. Sorry for the extensive comment but I enjoy discussing about backpacks. Keep up the good work.
Hi Paulo. Love this comment my friend. I could also spend all day talking about packs. There's some great detail in here. I've had a lot of people asking about the differences between the Mission and Rush. They're a great comparison if not just to show the differences between them. I really appreciate the lengthy comment and really enjoyed reading it. Have a great week my friend
Great review...brilliant really! I'm in the states, but I had to use the word, "brilliant," even though I didn't once hear you use it. 😃 I love my 5.11 packs and other stuff. I've worn the 5.11 pants (trousers) to back when they were Royal Robbins. Interestingly, I recently added a UK pack to my collection from Karrimor SF. It's a Thor 40. Thanks, again, for a job well-done.
Hi CR. Thank you sir, I appreciate the kind words. I watched a piece of content when 5.11 were talking about where they started and how 5.11 was a climbing term and they were adopted at Quantico by the FBI first. I've had several Karrimor packs. I really need to make some content on them. Hope you're having an awesome weekend 👍
Thank you Nathan. That's what the channel is about. I certainly started to make detailed content that's concise and clear to all that watch, especially if it helps when you're thinking of getting something. Have a great day my friend
Have had a Rush24 for over 10 years. I beat the crap out of it for the entire time. My son took it for school because it carries everything for school and sports... and it looks much cooler that a Jansport
Owned a rush 12 and completely broke that pack down in under 3 years. Switched to a max for my edc and havent looked back. May give the new 24 2.0 another go tho for a jeep at my ready pak. Well done reviews my friend! Just subbed up 🤘🏻
Hey Casimir, Thanks for the kind words and the sub. Just out of interest, which Maxpedition did you switch to? Always interested in people opinions of other gear. Apart from the few pouches, I've never owned a Max pack and always wondered about them. I know the Falcon II back in the day was a legendary backpack. Thanks again buddy
I switched to the max jumbo versa sling style pak. Have been carrying this daily 4 years now and it's holding up great! Smaller in size but fit all the same gear that I had in my 12, and to me more edc friendly 👍🏻
I've started a series of iconic EDC packs and I'm looking at the Versa Pack. It's the OG as far as those style shoulder packs. Serious question though, can you think of one before it more of a legend?
Good to hear BJ, you're in good company with many other happy owners. I used to have the Hazard 4 Patrol pack however it was took from me on a work trip. That's a legendary pack and built like a tank. Which H4 pack do you have?
@@MoorlanderEDC hazard 4 plan c, cause i think the plan b is a sling pack while the c was an actual backpack. That's my go to. I've set the 24 Rush down unless i need my computer. GREAT thing you got going here. THANKS
Just make sure you check your local laws and restrictions. Need to keep with in your local laws. I did a Google search and did see some one making kydex holsters for them 🤣 have a cracking week buddy
Cracking vid. I have all Rush series packs, as well as a good number of other 5.11 packs and gear, as all good service pers do…. Mine are all 5+yrs old and all are 100% perfect. Solid gear.
You could even say too solid 🤣 maybe one day I'll do a Moorlander Destruction Test. Maybe take out into the Moorlands and see if I can even dent one 😁 have a great week David 👍
Mr. Moorlander. If you had a choice. Perimeter from Viktos or Rush24. I know there is a price difference but I like both companies. It would be an overnighter pack with room for extra set of clothes, shoes and dopp.
I'd go Viktos. The Rush is a great pack however the Viktos wins on features for me. I have made some content comparing the Viktos and 5.11 bags - ua-cam.com/video/vZSsUy-UDQ4/v-deo.htmlsi=6eb76F4GYKmq13nu I hope this helps
Hey PD, sorry I missed your comment. It's been a weirdly busy week. Your thoughts echo many others. Hopefully I'll make a future update when get to hand this down tot he grand kids :D Have an epic weekend
Good video, you never know when you might need a water pistol for the bears in the woods back in blighty! Try the 5.11 AMP 24, it’s even better again than the Rush series.
That's exactly it Aidy, or maybe an over friendly badger 😃 I haven't tried the AMP series yet, however if I can fund them I'll try and make some content on them this year. Fingers crossed. Have a great weekend buddy
You have probably made your decision by now but I have both. I like the TT mission pack but had to make a few changes to it. It sits incredibly well on your back and can take a beating without falling apart. The rush 24 is even better - and I made a size comparison. I could fit slightly more into the rush 24 than the TT bag. However - where the various pockets/compartments in the TT seems like to have been put where they are due to convenience the system on the rush 24 feels more logical. With all the hiking I have done with both I can only really mention one negative thing. The yoke system on the rush 24 is best since in my experience the shoulder straps on the TT tends to very slowly become loose so I had to tighten it efter 2-3 days. It's a bit of a luxury issue - but still. Having used both for years now - I would go for Rush 24 if I had to pick one. And yes - it's definitely ykk zippers.
@@Jesper-bl2ns thanks for the reply mate. I did end up going the rush 24, and I've used it extensively over the last year. It's perfect for what I do and I've certainly put it through the ringer without any problems. I do look after my gear, and have used this pack extensively. Everything has held up and for 1 - 2 day fishing hiking trips, it is perfect. I do wish it had a waist strap and a lower compression strap, but it's not a big deal nor is it a fault of the pack. Probably the best example of bang for your buck I've come across. I do like the Tasmanian Tiger packs also, I've had the raid pack mkiii for around 4 years and it's excellent for multi day trips or just carrying extra gear. The suspension system on that pack is unreal .
Thanks Lawrence. I'm glad to hear you appreciate the review. I try to keep a nice balance of relaxed content with the detail I like to see in other people's content. Have an awesome week buddy
You're more than welcome Bill, and thank you for the kind words. When you get it please come back. I'd love to hear what your thoughts on it are. Have a great week sir
Great review, thx a lot ! But when the 2.0 went out, I Rush(ed) to buy the 1.0 : big bargain for a better finish ! U just mention the draining holes missing, but there's also one zipper of an internal pocket missing, and one key holder in the admin poch, and the scratchy pads bottom on the back, and U get one padded compartment more, but U have 2 internal pouches less. Also, in a non urban use, the ccw compartment is a way to get water in a hard place to dry under rainy weather. The draining holes were placed where water can't get in if U carry the bag, and are able to evacuate inside water or air humidity. So, if I carry my laptop inside, I do want them ! All that to say that the 1.0 may still the best to consider. Thx again for Ur great job.
Hey Federic, it's very true. There's now some great bargains out there on the 1.0 version... Which is still an amazing pack in its own right. Hopefully there's still plenty of them out there so there options for buyers. Thanks for watching and you kind words buddy 👍
Hi Dinko, that's the Helikon Tex Woodsman Anorak. I absolutely love it. I made some content on it a few years back and highly recommend it if you're looking for one. This is my go to top for walks - ua-cam.com/video/eMYm5lzghCk/v-deo.html Hope you're having a great weekend buddy
100% stealing the M&M pocket idea. This may become a regular occurrence. I'm confident this pack will still be like new in a decade from now... Hopefully it'll help me get through the nuclear fall out in 2027 🤣 have a great week David 👍
It seems you could add your own compression strap by attaching c clips to the side and bottom of the front. Then connect with a strap and a buckle. If you really want one. Or learn to sew 🤷♂️🙃👍
Hey TP, thanks for watching and commenting my friend. Yes, it's easily done. I think 5.11 even have their own additional straps you can buy. It's just a shame that they're not added to the bottom. Most of the weight and movement happens there which is a shame. It's really just a suggestion from me of something I'd change. What do you think of the pack as a whole? Always good to hear other's thoughts
I've had a Rush Moab 10 for about three years and use it for work everyday. Looks just like it did when I bought it, save for the little rubber pads on the back are a little worn. Probably gonna pick up one of these in multicam for edc and school
Yes. The local police have been clamping down on people travelling more than 5 miles away from their home to get out and about. This wee spot is a hidden gem... although you may see me distracted a few times in the content here when dog walkers get close 😃 All the best buddy
Appreciate your review of this is an excellent backpack. Have a question about how to correctly thread a water hose from the water compartment to the chest strap. Is the pass-through port for the water hose under the shoulder yoke? Wondering if the shoulder yoke will be applying pressure on the water hose? Thank you!
Got the previous version of this bag; I like it but don't love it. While it is a great bag, it is too 'square' for me, projects too far out from my back. It's comfortable enough, lots of storage options, but I prefer my bags to go a bit more vertical and slender (but that might be my favouring backpacking). Got it (almost brand new) second hand online, so no biggie; I've kept it for bushcraft weekends with the lads, though.
Hey Ignacio. It's great to hear this. It's definitely a wider stockier pack for sure. I'd definitely recommend checking out my Tasmanian Tiger Modular Pack content. That might be your cup of tea for sure. Thanks for watching and commenting. I hope you have a great weekend
I’m going to be the first to mention the odd socks 😂 Very good review ! I like the pricing of the 5.11 packs compared to my overpriced Maxpedition packs that I own. Great review again and you covered everything in an easy to understand way 👍🏻
Thanks NFE, 5.11 have done a great job at making (may I say it) overly strong pack and hit the value for money for sweet spot. Glad to hear I hit the spot with the content here too. Have an awesome week fella
I realised I didn't mention the odd socks. It was a stupid thing I did when I was a nipper. Used to annoy the hell out of my old man... Then it became a thing 😁 I don't even match my socks anymore. If I pull out matching socks, one goes back 🤣 life's to short to worry about matching socks
I have a black 24. Planning to get another one to use when my current one is in the wash and maintenance. Thinking of the ranger green. What is your opinion about black vs this color?
If that's one of the thinner taller ones then I'm 99% sure they'll fit. The side pockets are great for water storage... but just not the shorter wider nalgene style bottles. Hope that helps my friend
Thanks for explicitly pointing out the usability for the concealed carrying of a MBP in areas where Macs are frowned upon (and thus that emergency Illustrator-jobb I have been nagging about 😉). Now, I do live in a never-carry-any-pewpew-country, so I can't really claim to have any material knowledge, nor would I actually aspire to. But wouldn't the design of the front of the backpack and the CCW-pocket actually *encourage* water to get in there when raining? Given those lips throughout, any rain getting onto the upper part of the pack looks to naturally drain in that very direction with nothing to stop it but the velcro inside of the CCW-pocket? And given that this velcro sits somewhat lower than the opening it wouldn't be able to prevent seeping through?!? Otherwise it might make a quite useful pocket for a tablet during commutes? How do the 5.11s compare to eg Tasmanian Tiger quality-wise?
Hi Thomas. You crack me up my friend. 5.11 and TT are close however TT is a tier above. That's not that 5.11 are bad at all. The Rush 24 is like an Abrams Tank. It's almost over build (if that's possible). The Mission uses a 700d cordura which feels just as thought and is lighter. TT would have definitely added a drainage hole in the CCW compartment. 5.11 can make a great pack that's build to last for £100, TT would be twice that. Both great packs done in different ways. Hope this helps and is just twaddle 🤣 have a top week
@@MoorlanderEDC Haha. Thanks. It ISN'T twaddle 😉 Basically: choose TT if you're going for highest quality and aren't too concerned about money. Choose 5.11 if you're after absolutely best bang for the buck. Right?
@Moorlander EDC 😄 Now, winning the jackpot once wouldn't really be sufficient for TAD gear, would it? 🤣 (To be honest, I do own and at times carry the TT First Responder MKII. Don't use it for its intended purpose, but instead as an incredibly useful modular pack for city overnighters. Use the large part for all overnight gear, then detach the smaller front as flat and still modular daypack. Still one of the most expensive pieces of gear I own, all fancy Fjällräven backcountry packs included -- and definitely in the same price range as TAD gear). Have an unbelievably amazing week!!!
I got one in June, took it out maybe twice, just saw the other week that the stitching has failed all around the admin pouch so there's a big hole in the side. 5.11 are great and are sending me a new one. Have the 72 and have beaten it up travelling, hiking, bushcrafting, Interrailing... Guess I was unlucky with the 24 but these will last probably longer than the owner, but if there are any faults 5.11 will sort it for you
Yeah, that sounds unusual with the stitching. I guess from time to time there are some faults. It's good that 5.11 recognised that and got a new one sent out. Thanks for watching and commenting buddy
Hi Mark. I think the extra is something to do with the Multicam licence. There's a few camos out there that have a licence so manufacturers add the addition on the the product. It's a very strange set up really. Hope you enjoy the pack and get out top some adventuring 👍
Thank you. It's a great pack, and it's hard to find a pack this quality for this price. If you do get one, I'd love to hear what you think of it when it arrives... Maybe come back in 15 years to say how it's still like new 😂
Hi Todd. That's cool buddy. What do you think? Is this your first 5m11 pack? I'd certainly love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for watching, all the best
@@MoorlanderEDC this my first time using a backpack. I am usually a sling guy pack. I love the organization of the pocket layout. It makes mire sense; most packs like vertex you need to spend more for the organization and more liters.
I have the original Rush 24, and I have modded it to hell and back to make it the perfect pack (I added compression straps, a rain cover, and even a water bladder for extended airsoft games). And Yes. It is the perfect pack........... Until 2.0 came along.
Construction and material are good, no discussion. But it has some points to improve. I think the pocket for glasses is very fragile. The pocket can't be soft, it looks like you're putting your hand in your pants pocket to get your glasses. Sometimes you make the mistake and put your hand on the lens. If you overfill your backpack, depending on what you put on, it could break your glasses. I hope that version 2.0 fits the case of the glasses, at least. The compartment should be more rigid, to protect them. Another point, the straps on the side should be the same as the AMP backpack, smarter, in my opinion. Normally, to access the main compartment of the backpack, you need to release 2 straps! There's nothing tactical about it. Or you can leave the straps open and they're dangling in front of the backpack. Even if they are open, if you lay down your backpack to open it, the straps are in the way of the zipper. Last point, it should come with a built-in raincoat. Cordura does wet in the rain. Simple things, but that would make a lot of difference.
Hi Carlos. Yes, it's definitely not a perfect back and there's quite a lot they didn't address when they made this 2.0 version. One of the biggest for me is still the water bladder pocket which is outside of the pack against your back. When you've got a lot of stuff in your pack it creates a lot of pressure against it, which can take you by surprise when you're taking a drink. It's not like water boarding, but it's very close... Something I completely forgot when I made this content. Maybe I'll make a '6 months with the Rush 24 2.0' style piece of content. Hope you're safe and well my friend. Have a great weekend
Hi Mauricio, yes my friend they're super sturdy. Have a quick read through the comments section here to see how many people have these and have beaten them... and they're still perfect 😆 hanks for watching buddy. Have an awesome weekend
How come on amazon the dimensions given are different. You should compare both the 12 and 24 side by side to see the size difference. because I'm thinking they don't sell the green ranger color in 37 liter. When I choose ranger green it says 24 Liters.
Hi Les. I've found Amazon can be a bit hit and miss when it comes to sizes and dimensions. I was looking at the Hazard 4 Patrol Pack on the Hazard 4 website and it says it's 16ltrs when it's definitely a 32 ltr pack. It's all someone putting in numbers somewhere having a bad day. If you're in the UK, I got mine from TacTree and they have them in all the different colours and sizes available if that helps. Have a great weekend my friend
Hi Ioannis 👍 you're a member of the club now. This is one of my most commented piece of content and there's a lot of people with Rush packs that are like new 😁 have a great weekend my friend
I’ve been using the 2.0 Rush 24 for the last couple of weeks. Everything is great about it EXCEPT the dumb padded laptop section. It’s extremely tedious to pull out my 16 inch MacBook Pro due being tucked back in there.
Hi RCR, I'm kind of with you with the laptop sleeve. IN a weird way I prefer that it's a chore getting it in and out. If it's secure when I'm travelling with work then I feel more confident it's safe... although the daily faff getting in and out is a true faff... first work struggle :D Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a top weekend and stay safe wherever you find yourself
Greetings moorlander, what is your opinion on the 1050 nylon vs 1000d cordura option you can get with this bag? Always enjoy your videos! Keep them coming!
I have bought a 24 sandstone v1 but I do not like the color at all once I had it in my hands. it is more dull green than sand. so I'll return it and buy the olive green v2 (or maybe the double tap)
Hi Angelikus. It's the unfortunate downside of when companies use a single image and then Photoshop the image to the other colours. They're never 100% what they should be. The green is really nice. I have the ranger green version here and love the colour. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the pack when yours arrives. Have a great week
@@MoorlanderEDC the seller has sent me the ranger green and the dark gray. Tomorrow I will make the comparison with the sandstone and I will stay with the ranger or the double tap (gray).
I’ve had a Rush 24 for more than 10 years, but upgraded to the 72 about 5 - 6 years ago. I use them as carry on luggage and then as a work bag and as a run bag when working in more dodgy places. I also had the same stitching problem with the 24, and ended up doing a DIY repair to it in Libya in 2011 with dental floss. I’ve had no such problems with the 72. The amount of stuff I carry I really noticed the absence of a hip belt. They’re a great bag for the things I use them for. They’re not a good hiking bag though. For that I’d prefer my old Berghaus Cyclops Roc or even one of the Karrimor SF range.
Definitely agreed on the hiking bag side. They're a real all round style bag. Maybe if you on a short day hike, whereas a proper pack with back support and waist belt always win. I need to make some Karrimor content. Love their gear
@@MoorlanderEDC yes I took the 24 on a short day hike on a day off in Tajikistan. It was ok but I’d have preferred my old Berghaus Munro for the tab. The Rush are good to throw all my gear in the B6 and they withstand the treatment
Great reviews of the Rush series mate! Absolutely correct on the value for money point. The 2 most popular packs in the services are this and camelbak motherlode, however the Camelbak is almost double the price! Ok, you don't get a hydration bladder with the 5.11, but is a bladder really worth £60-£80 more cost?! My only problem is deciding between the Rush 12 and the 24?? 😁
Hi Stu. 5.11 have hit the nail on the head with the Rush series for sure. I've ways been intrigued by the Motherlode. I'll see if I can get one to test out. I find the Rush 12 is best for everyday use, however the 24 is the most versatile of the two. Hope that helps buddy
Hi John. It's the Helikon Tex Woodsman Anorak. It's a great anorak that's does a lot and it amazing value for money. I did a review about a year back, and also check out TheOutdoorGearReview too - ua-cam.com/video/pF673mPAMBo/v-deo.html I hope this helps buddy, stay well and safe
Hey SDD. The 72 is a big jump in size. I guess if you're planning a big camp or travel with lots of gear the 72 would be best. The 24 for me is a perfect cross for camping and EDC. Would love to hear which on you do go for eventually. Have a great week buddy
Cheers pal. I ended up getting 2 bacpacks. Rush 72 and British Army PRI 45L Infantry Bergen. Both of ‘em are amazing. I do recommend checking PRI 45L! It's the true perfection of craftsmanship. Not as many organizing options as Rush 72 though!
Thank you for this! I love your intro, LOL. I've ordered the 12 2.0 in black. It arrived last week. I ended up returning it. I somehow thought it would be bigger, but I was wrong. 🤷🏻♂ The visibility of their black bag is terrible too, which is why I chose the 24 in ranger green. I cannot wait to use it when it arrives :) I'd call you by your personal name, but I don't know it. Please, Moorlander, quit using this background music! ❤
Thanks. I weirdly added the intro as a knod to David Brent from the Office. The Rush 12 is great and I definitely agree with the size. It's a great EDC pack however the extra size of the 24 makes it a wee bit more versatile. My name's Randy 👍
@@MoorlanderEDC Hi Randy :D Oh! That's cool. The Office is my second most favorite TV show, after LOST. The US version, though. The UK version must be great, too. Exactly! I hope I won't regret picking the "ranger green" over the greys since they are more versatile. But then again, their interior is also black. Personally, I would love them to make high-visibility interiors. Maybe with the 3.0's.
The UK and US shows are definitely different. The UK version is very hard to watch as David Brent is even more cringeworthy than Michael Scott. The UK nailed the docu-soap side of perfectly, where as I like the US version for it being so different. Similar characters but more American. Which makes the two great for their own positives and negatives PS. I'll state a pint on beer on you not regretting the Ranger green. Pinky Promise
It also shows how the pack hangs, effecting the operation of the zippers.

Rush 12 for 5 years. Everyday use. Work, comute, city, wood... never fail ... 5.11 rush series is just great !
Hey Cen. Do you mind sharing where you got the Nalgene bottle molle? Cheers.
@@coolguywithhat It’s a Vanquest Hydra water bottle holder. Pretty sure I got it from Amazon of all places.
@@DarkFire515 Thanks so much, it’s still holding up?
Love the Nintendo gun you ready for duck hunt nice review!
Keeping it retro 😜
Thanks really appreciate you responding and that information does shed new light on the expense enjoying the pack so far camped out last night was great. Plenty of extra room.
You bet!
It’s been in data centers and rural sites
Used it for a range bag and put a 30-cal ammo can in it for a pistol class and surprisingly it didn’t tear any of the fabric.
I've had this bag for 2 years and just discovered the 2 side zip pockets yesterday
You're amongst good company here Bryon, I can't count the amount of things I've found after using something for years 😅
I’m glad I bought the original version of this pack.
I've been considering one of these packs for a while, saw your vid and pulled the trigger on one. Thanks for the video!

Have the rush 72 for 123 years. Great bag, still looks new.
Hi Keith... I 100% believe you buddy... and I bet it looks just like new 😄 Have a great weekend buddy 👍
Great review - thank you. More confidence in ordering this product on line now!!
Great review...brilliant really! I'm in the states, but I had to use the word, "brilliant," even though I didn't once hear you use it. 😃
I love my 5.11 packs and other stuff.

I have had a Moab 10 sling bag since 2014 and it looks brand new. It’s my edc bag
They should change their name to "5.11 Tactical - built to last" 😉
Great bags, really. Built to last
I want to pick up the 12 or 24. I can’t decide so prob the 12
The 12 is best for EDC. The 24 is great but it's on the large side
I’m thinking the 12 will serve well as edc and day pack for hiking to carry small essentials. Plus my Moab can attach to it if need be
Brilliant review!! Thanks for the very informative video... Clear, straight to the point and well presented ✌️
H aha ha... Jansport would die to have a bag this tough. I think they'd go bankrupt as people wouldn't need to buy one every new school year
just the best review i ever saw for rush 24, the best.
Hi Pyc A, really appreciate the feedback 💪
Rush 72 for 8 years..it has a bit of wear but still works like day 1. Might pick one of these up though.
Hi Brock. The 72 is the only one I don't have any experience with. I might see if I can get one to test out. Have you used it mainly for camping?
Thanks for the review. Was deciding on which backpack to buy and your review did it for me 👍
Glad I could help!

Mr.
I have made some content comparing the Viktos and 5.11 bags - ua-cam.com/video/vZSsUy-UDQ4/v-deo.htmlsi=6eb76F4GYKmq13nu

nice video man...i saw your review before bought it...The backpack is awesome!
Looks like a beaut pack mate. Are they definitely ykk zippers? I'm trying to decide between this and the tt mission pack. Thanks bloke 👍🏻
Awesome & thorough review. Thanks man.

Excellent video. I will pick one up today!
What jacket are you wearing sir, it looks amazing?
Hi Dinko, that's the Helikon Tex Woodsman Anorak. I absolutely love it. I made some content on it a few years back and highly recommend it if you're looking for one. This is my go to top for walks - ua-cam.com/video/eMYm5lzghCk/v-deo.html
Hope you're having a great weekend buddy
M&M (Monster and Mora). Still a great review. I have the original rush 12. Had it for 5 years of edc and still looks links new.
That's a good call with the Moabs. I need to check one of those out too. The MC Rush 24 2.0 looks sick
Yes!!! Back in the woods
Yes. The local police have been clamping down on people travelling more than 5 miles away from their home to get out and about. This wee spot is a hidden gem... although you may see me distracted a few times in the content here when dog walkers get close 😃 All the best buddy
Good review, mate.
Glad you enjoyed it
Appreciate your review of this is an excellent backpack. Have a question about how to correctly thread a water hose from the water compartment to the chest strap. Is the pass-through port for the water hose under the shoulder yoke? Wondering if the shoulder yoke will be applying pressure on the water hose? Thank you!
Deja vu 😄 I think UA-cam decided to double your comment
Great review mate!!
Thank you TF ✌️ much appreciated. Hope you're having a great weekend
@@MoorlanderEDC Haha that’s excellent! Why not 😂👍🏻 I had a feeling you did it on purpose lol
Max over 511 all day Forest!
Thank for your detailed review.
You're more than welcome AHP2. Glad to hear you enjoyed it
I have a black 24. Planning to get another one to use when my current one is in the wash and maintenance.
Thinking of the ranger green. What is your opinion about black vs this color?
Hello sir. Could a 20oz Klean Kanteen fit at the size pockets?
If that's one of the thinner taller ones then I'm 99% sure they'll fit. The side pockets are great for water storage... but just not the shorter wider nalgene style bottles. Hope that helps my friend
@@MoorlanderEDC yes I'm talking about the taller ones. Thanks again. :)
Excellent review thanks.
Thanks Jason. I appreciate the kind words my friend. Have an awesome week
Thanks. It ISN'T twaddle 😉
Basically: choose TT if you're going for highest quality and aren't too concerned about money.
Choose 5.11 if you're after absolutely best bang for the buck. Right?
Spot on... Maybe TAD gear if you're a lottery winner 🤣
@Moorlander EDC 😄
Now, winning the jackpot once wouldn't really be sufficient for TAD gear, would it? 🤣
(To be honest, I do own and at times carry the TT First Responder MKII.
Brilliant review. Top notch kit.
Hi Paul. Thanks you watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Have a great week buddy
Thanks man it was an awesome video. 💯💯💯💯
You're more than welcome Eric. Have a great week fellab
Fella 😂
@@MoorlanderEDC 😅😉
Had to order the camo one Unfortunately it’s an extra 50 something dollars but it’s cool enough to be worth it
Hi Mark. I think the extra is something to do with the Multicam licence. There's a few camos out there that have a licence so manufacturers add the addition on the the
product. It's a very strange set up really. Hope you enjoy the pack and get out top some adventuring 👍
Hey buddy, hope you are keeping well.
Great video. I’m thinking of getting this bag too.
Thank you. It's a great pack, and it's hard to find a pack this quality for this price. If you do get one, I'd love to hear what you think of it when it arrives... Maybe come back in 15 years to say how it's still like new 😂
Just got the rush 12 backpack 2.0 in double tap
Hi, I've seen some very cool mods to these Rush packs. Yours sounds awesome.
Thanks for the review, is the backpack sturdy???
Great review, anyone who wants to buy this pack can get a lot of info on this video.
HI Carlo. Thanks you for your kind words my friend.

Being the Moorlander, I have diplomatic immunities
Great Review
Thanks Kido. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Stay well and safe
It looks like a rabbit ran by in the upper right hand corner of the screen at about 10:48!
Epic spot. You have the eye of a hunter Michael 😀 Most places where I film are full of rabbits and squirrels
@@MoorlanderEDC Thanks Brother! I live in the sticks, and rarely see rabbits at my place, they have so much woods to live in, they rarely come out.

@@MoorlanderEDC Thank you Stay safe , Godbless bro.

Hi John. It's the Helikon Tex Woodsman Anorak. It's a great anorak that's does a lot and it amazing value for money. I did a review about a year back, and also check out TheOutdoorGearReview too - ua-cam.com/video/pF673mPAMBo/v-deo.html

Hey pal! Such a good review 👍🏻 Thanks for that! I’m looking into buying one but still not sure if a larger 72 version will suit my needs better.
I'll Google the PRI now. Thanks for the heads up 👍
Good reviev, thanks
Hi Nikods, thank you for the kind words my friend. I hope you're well
Thank you for this! I love your intro, LOL.
I've ordered the 12 2.0 in black. It arrived last week. I ended up returning it. I somehow thought it would be bigger, but I was wrong. 🤷🏻♂
The visibility of their black bag is terrible too, which is why I chose the 24 in ranger green. I cannot wait to use it when it arrives :)
I'd call you by your personal name, but I don't know it.
@@MoorlanderEDC Hi Randy :D
Oh!
Which makes the two great for their own positives and negatives
PS. I'll state a pint on beer on you not regretting the Ranger green. Pinky Promise
