I have had the gen 1 for 8 years and love it. I have put it through hell and back. I do want to get the 2.0 and move my 1.0 to an extra bag. These really are great bags!
The harness is made to be worn while you have body armour/plates on, thats why its a bit longer in the shoulder yokes, and would sag and appear uncomfortable unless ciinched up tight to the body. This appears on the 24 and 72 variants too. They make these bits of kit with the tactical wear in mind but do at least try to cover the EDC use too. Great review though mate thankyou!
I confirm that it coincides with experience of using rush 12 and rush 72 in battles, with Russian plates Granite in the plate carrier is perfectly assembled and does not hang out on the run
I've been using the 1st version of the Rush 12 for three years on day hikes and as a Get Home Bag in my car and find it very comfortable. Have attached a couple of external pouches for a water bottle and coffee thermos. I'm 6ft / 185 lbs; it fits well and will carry about 20 lbs of stuff quite nicely. I found that getting the sternum strap properly positioned was important to achieve max comfort. I dont carry a laptop with me and anticipate that this pack will last for many years so I have no need to update to 2.0.
I bought a Rush 12 2.0 a few days ago, from Silvermans in East London so I was able to try it for fit and compare with some similar sized packs before purchase. I found the yoke arrangement odd at first, but find it works well for me as the straps don't keep sliding sideways. The hydration compartment likewise fits me. One use it'll be put to is carrying Ham Radio equipment...either on foot using a handheld (for which the MOLLE on the straps will be useful), or on HF with wire antennas and masts, etc. The clamshell opening and all the attachment points will make this a lot more convenient than packs I've used previously. Thanks for the useful review! 👍
Great bag EDC when you understand how to solve those couple issues you mentioned As a matter of fact, many military ruck the 12 around as their daily ✌️
I like this pack a lot. I have had one for a couple years now. Originally, I bought it to use as my "Get Home Bag" that lives in my truck. I have tried out other packs since, but I keep coming back to this one. It just meets all of my personal requirements for that application better than everything else I've tried out.
I love this bag. I think I’m ready to upgrade to the 2.0. I do like the harness it’s been the most comfortable bag I’ve worn. I always go back to it. I wish that 511 took out a version with no molle. It would blend in better. But in America it probably don’t matter 😂
you will not have problems with the rear compartment for the hydrator and it will not bother you if you are wearing a plate carrier, on the contrary, the tablet with navigation will be along the back plate and even if it falls and explodes, it can remain.
Welp, you gave me a great idea. I'm gonna try buying this used on the secondary market! I've seen someone with this pack and was jealous because I ended up with the really big RUSH 24 as a gift and it's too much bag for edc. Thanks for the review!
An excellent review because the pros and cons you talk about are real. I agree with the hydration section. I don't need it and use it to store a notebook or some documents so that they don't get squashed. It would be good for that section to be designed in a way that it has other functions as well. I also agree with your experience with the shoulder straps. I feel they are large. At first I thought it was a 72 thing which was my first Rush bag. But it turns out that the 24 has the same floating or too big feeling. At 5'6 I'm not big, even so I'm not tiny either and I could never find a good fit except when wearing a thick winter jacket. Sadly, where I live there are no 5.11 stores to have tried it on, and even if there were, I love the Rush because of the many compartments which gives me the ability organise my way. So the downsides of those bags are overcome by the great design in relation to organisations options. I don't carry either bags for hikes or any long excursions which means that the shoulder strap comfort is not critical, but would be nice for them to be more adjustable and comfortable. The 72 comes with me in my car for long car trips, and the 24 come with me on flights to conferences or visiting friends and family. For hiking, I would chose a completely different bag.
Grabbed one of these that was in a limited run of their tungsten color and absolutely love it. I don't love an overly tactical look to my bags when I'm just out and about so I dialed it down a bit by attaching the gearsets meant for their AMP series up to the outer pocket H&L/Molle area. It took a little love (and extra equipment) but came out so great. The best fits are either the Shove it/helmet gear set or the double deploy (personal fav). In this setup its been amazing for being the family carryall bag for multi hour trips with all that kiddos need without approaching capacity. My only complaint is something you mentioned in passing but with all the customization options on the outside there's next to nothing on the inside. The mesh pockets are awesome and the laptop pocket is nice but I'd really have liked to have H&L on inside or at least a few molle attachment points to organize better. Thats not enough to knock it from a glowing review though.
Totally appreciate you sharing all your thoughts with me and everyone else. Thanks for your personal experience. I’m sure it would’ve pushed the cost out of line for them but the interior pocket and storage and attachment point thing seems especially glaring since they have hook and loop on some of their other bags on the inside. Oh well, like you said, still a great bag.
I also have this in tungsten. Got it on sale. Can you tell me more about which specific pieces from the AMP series you attached and what extra gear/steps were needed? Thanks in advance.
I am waiting for 511Rush to come out with a Rush168 ... LOL they are good bags . got a couple of them ...1.0 & 2.0 Rush 24.... one is for EDC and other is the Vehicle GHB
I am seriously looking forward to getting mine. I have looked at buying a Rush series bag but would never do it. I have other 5-11 bags, the MOAB 10 and 6, and now will add the Rush 12 2.0. The 12 2.0 will be a major improvement and upgrade from the MOAB 10 (don’t get me wrong, it is a great bag).
Curious if anyone has tried carrying rucking weight plates in the laptop sleeve? And if so what size plate are you guys using. I know you can fit a 30 lb plate in the hydration pocket, but I'm specifically curious about the laptop sleeve and what it's capable of. Thanks!
Hello I just order Rush 12 today. My laptop is: 356 x 251 x 16.9 mm (not included shock case but it will be a little bit bigger than the laptop, not too much. Will my Laptop fit the Main Compartment and also with a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi, laptop charger and some personal stuff? This is my first time buy a Rush backpack. I only use it for dailyl work and training BJJ, not travel. Thank you guys!

I have the 1.0 and took out that plastic plate in the back, fits perfect now.

you can move that chest strap down and make it better
The OG maybe the best all rounder ever made, toughest for sure
I am waiting for 511Rush to come out with a Rush168 ... LOL
they are good bags . got a couple of them ...1.0 & 2.0 Rush 24....

Try to unstrap the chest strap & put it on one Molly 1 line down -for your comfort> this chest fastex have a removble endings from a shoulder straps!
Awesome review !!! I have this one and i use it everyday. It so beautyful.

The cool thing is you can use the tier straps to bundle your MOAB 10 or 6 with a RUSH series backpack. 👍🏽
Took this bag (along with the Rush 72) with me to the Philippines. Both are GREAT BAGS!
Incredibly well built - agreed!
I’ve got the same bag I love it and I carry my 11 in iPad with Magic Keyboard in the exact same spot .!!! Great minds think alike!!! Lol
Would this bag tend to ride high enough above a pistol belt and butt pack / not fight it for waist and hip area space?
It would be close and depend entirely on torso length. If you have a 5.11 store near you I would try it on
Would the bag’s capacity enough to accommodate some gym sneaker, spare clothes and school stuffs at the same time?
Yes
@@ThePerfectBag thanks man, I recently bought the rush 24, it was big and bulky for my liking and frame. I’ll have an exchange and downsize to rush 12

Rushes handle weight well but not necessarily in lead barbell or plate form, concentrates the stress on too small area
those padding at the is supposed to make your back comfortable.
Do they sell anything else besides Bags do they sell like Patches because I need like a Warrior Battalion patch
5.11? They sell a TON of stuff besides bags. If you are located in the US you can visit a physical 5.11 store in most major cities.
Have the 12. Too small for day to day. Went to 24 much better.
yes, but if part of your equipment and ammunition is in the plate carrier and on the combat belt, rush 12 is enough not to lose mobility

Is that a 15 inch laptop?
@@ThePerfectBag 16inch but same size with some 15inch laptop
Should fit but let us know when you get the bag in!
One biggest drawback for me is Laptop Sleeve area
When you load many stuff in the main pocket ,it’s very hard to reach your laptop
Yes - it’s a little tight.
@@ThePerfectBag and I agree that this backpack is not comfortable…
Weird right? It’s such a big seller…
@@ThePerfectBag But I still use it as my edc backpack… somehow ,admin area and organizer area of this bag is very great
Exactly how I felt. It’s not comfy, it’s not perfect, but I still recommend it because it is great at what it’s great at.
i use it for school it holds up to its name
Its nice and solid backpack 🎒 its tactical man
Haha amused and surprised by the Malaysian flags on the packs!
My fave company - Greenroom 136 is Malaysian!
yah loh..same here...5.11 fan My 5.11 has Sarawak patches
Water bottle holder?
Nope - I think their theory is that you’ll strap one in with molle
do you feel weird wearing multicam?
Nah.
how can I buy in turkey I need 24 liters thanks
I honestly don't know!
thank you sir
I did
You did?
Good video, thank you.
I thought to order it online in addition to my Helikon Tex raccoon mk2 🦝, but probably should visit offline shop at first.
I’ve got the same bag I love it and I carry my 11 in iPad with Magic Keyboard in the exact same spot .!!! Great minds think alike!!! Lol
