This video is what made me consider a cruise. Taking my first cruise on my 50th birthday next April on the Disney Wish. I even switched from a 3 night weekend cruise that was ending on my birthday to a 4 night weekday cruise.

You and I must've been on a different ship/voyage...or maybe since it was my first I don't have a previous experience to compare it.

I just got off the Magic today, and no it wasn’t. What were you looking at? If you want to see a rundown ship, look at a Carnival ship. You’d never know the Disney Magic was nearly 23 years old the way they take such good care of their ship.

We just got back from sailing on the Magic. It was terrific start to finish. Our only lackluster experience was at Palo, unfortunately.

I am all for tipping generously and do... except when a company decides they know better than me and put a pre-determined tip on my check. In that case, you only get the pre-determined tip, and thus loose out on my standard 25-30% tip for great service.

Yup, not a huge fan of automatic gratuities. A massage? Fine. Booking the Rainforest spa for 95 min and having the place solo with no one else? What do you need a tip for. I didn’t need help in the showers, sauna, or getting into those awesome loungers. Outrageous.

You talked about the limited capacity on the ships. Many of the Wish sailings for the Summer are sold out. Do you think some people will "get kicked out" so they can keep lower capacity?

I have been thinking about that too. We are booked on the Wish Maiden and I am really curious about what they are going to do.

Interesting, question is are they sold out at full capacity or are they already going to be planned for limited capacity? Does it say?

Hello DCL (and DIS) - 6 of us just took our first Disney cruise (12/10 - 12/13 Port C., Nassau & Castaway Cay for 3 days). Thank you for the super informative DCL videos. My favorites - Beauty & the Beast (wow) we were in the front row near the right center stairs and many times the actors sat on the stairs 10 feet from us. The service was awesome. We got the Rainforest room - super wow - incredible value for $175. My personal favorites were swimming out to the slide at Castaway Cay and the AquaDuck!!! Complaints; the food was hit or miss - room service was worse than Denny's, Palo was OK, breakfast & dinners were pretty good. EVERYTHING I watched leading up to this was that the food was awesome - in our group we've sailed Carnival, Norwegian, Princess, Celebrity, Viking, Royal C. and they all beat Disney. Because it was 50% off this was a great value and we will definitely sail with DCL again. Please keep all the great videos coming. Merry Christmas.

I am of the opposite opinion on the larger ships doing a better job with food. My last cruise with DCL was on the Fantasy ( I haven't been on the Dream- I like longer cruises) but I felt like both the Wonder and Magic were better. I will say that it could be my overall impression of the ship might be coloring my perception of the food. When we sailed on the Fantasy pre-pandemic it was a full ship and was extremely crowded so that made a lasting memory for me, specifically the meet and greet lines were outrageous. I am very sad about the changes to the menu and pricing in Palo as well. If I didn't already have onboard credit I would skip it on my next cruise completely. I am looking forward to my Hawaii cruise on the Wonder in April !

I was on the Dream last year. Went with Magic this time to see what the small ships were like. I love both ships, and Disney is Disney so any ship I’m on I’ll have fun. With that being said, I liked the Dream better. I love the huge chandelier, the bigger atrium, and the cupcake/candy store next to Cabanas. I also think the kids clubs were a bit better. I’m very glad to have experienced the Magic. It was the very first ship and has so much history to it. I want to sail on every Disney ship.

i sailed the merrytime on the magic and there was alot I missed, no tree lighting, no meeting santa and signing the naughty and nice list. no cookie decorating and no cookies and cocoa in the atrium. and why in the world when you are taking picutres do you put the characters in the front of the guests? please someone explain the photopass that the guest should be in front and the characters should be in the back.

Was this like one of the first saings for Magic?
I was on the Merrytime for Magic (dec 11-dec 16. Tree was lit (no ceremony), plenty of opportunities to meet santa.
It makes sense there wouldn't be a lighting ceremony, signing, & cookie decorating because they probably wanted to limit crowds and shared touch points.
With our photos, we were in front of the characters, both in official photographer areas & in "appear & wave" areas

    • @mindyschocolate

Covid protocols. They didn’t want huge groups of people in the atrium. I wish for cookies and cocoa too, but not with the pandemic. I was happy to be on the ship. The tree was beautiful and I was glad to see it twinkle right from the get go instead of a dark tree until later. I saw Santa and went to see Mrs Clause read Christmas stories in the D lounge.
