We have a lawn that is just one year old. We have a heavy clay soil and the lawn is 5000 sq m . We have developed large areas of red thread due to wet areas. We have cured it using a low nitrogen high iron feed. The key is high iron. We are having to use organic due to the clay. I imagine everyone is different but it works currently for us
Great video on red thread. Since using preventative fungicide apps I’ve had no issues with red thread in the spring and no issues with rust in late summer. Sometimes you just need that extra help.
Red Thread all over my lawn owing to the recent wet and humid weather. I have aerated, scarified, top dressed with compost maintained regular cutting and followed routine feeding and this summer my lawn looks dreadful! With no fungicides on the market is there anything else I can do? I have read the Neem Oil may help and some suggest bicarbonate of soda but I fear putting a salt on my lawn would do more harm than good. Do you have any other suggestions Dan?
hi dan, i have a lot of red thread in my current lawn, however, i will be killing off the grass and starting over in the next month. is it worth treating the red thread before, or just wait and see if it comes back next year? thanks
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert perfect thanks! im only going to be scarifying so i will look into a treatment. i still cant decide on which grass mix to use though - it seems all the different ones you use all look great. im after an all rye mix, do you have a favourite?

You mentioned Provanto is hard to get hold of, didnt realise that, I have a box stored just incase but is it being banned or is there just a shortage cause of the time of year?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert I had no idea Provanto was going... got a few boxes stashed away for emergencies thankfully. Thanks for the informative videos Dan, keep them coming!
Hi Daniel just took delivery of Dualitas Fungicide - Turf Disease Control from pitchcare, sharing the cost with 2 other friends. Also got liquid 25.0.0 feed . Do you think with would be ok to use both a week apart ?
@@mstar011 yes..i started using it this year and i have no red thread..also.i have next to zero thatch.im unsure if it would cure a red thread problem but it certainly prevents it and prevents a whole lot of other shit too
Hi Daniel, have my annual case of red thread again this year... You mentioned to lightly feed it as a remedy to move it through. I used 19-0-0 and 18-0-8. Also, this type of disease is prominent in the spring, but in summer, I sometimes see the same type of condition, but now its called "Brown Spot", is that true? Thanks for you help, love the channel!
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert So would you keep feeding straight through autumn and winter with something like the proturf, also would you feed that to a part of the lawn that gets no direct sun on it through winter, its light but no direct sunlight. Sorry for all the questions but i want to learn and you are the man :)
@@gregcarnall9097 the feeding in the winter new to me really as customers generally lay me off for the winter so i dont want loads of growth if im not there, so im learning to ive got a vid lined up which will answer alot of questions

Absolutely disease is a part of life and just like any other fungal infection ie on the human body it needs a fungicide treatment
Helpful as ever and great to see the channel growing 👍

There are fungicides on the market you just need to find a professional to apply it
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Thanks Dan for your response and for all your inspiration over the years. Love the videos!
Ever had dandruff, which fungicide did you use to kill the yeast / fungus ?

If your killing off and removing the lawn then no need but if your killing and just scarifying then maybe look at a fungicide

Why not at same time?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert I assumed you would need to let the fungus treatment get started ? So you can apply both at the same time then ?
@@rugs108 yeah sure
@@rugs108 it wont lessen the fungicides effectiveness
But dont go on with the high n at full rate as your leaving the door open for fusarium with it being so wet/humid/ warm
cannazym seems to keep it away

Hi, quick question, when should i start dialling back on high nitrogen feeds as autumn approaches etc? Cheers
