Perfect timing! Just cut the grass and spotted this exact problem starting. You’re not removing the patch and reseeding then? Just an application of high nitrogen water dissolved feed?
I get red thread every year. Although I use the hose alot as the dog loves chasing the water. I will try some red thread preventer next year.
I have the same problem with red thread. I put the all American lawn seed down in the spring. I have the Evergreen 4 in 1 feed which is high in Nitrogen content but I am a bit worried to use it as it usually blackens the grass which it has done in the past. I also have a different fertilizer which has less Nitrogen but probably a better product,10-4-4+3.5f I don't have a knapsack sprayer but I think it will be useful to have for applying feed and moss killer. What do you think I should apply? Great video. Thanks Matt.

Hey just stumbled upon your channel and have a question...I have really bad grass weed (think thats what its called) so cut my lawn and raked away quite alot of it, but now I'm left with a lot of patches from raking...I have seeded, but doesn't seem to be taking...anything else i can do?

So what ratio of the product to water would you use when applying it using a sprayer as there are no instructions for this method. Would you just use the recommended dose as per the watering can instructions and then spray this mixture?
I just feel that using the watering can measurement wouldn’t feed the lawn enough.
I definitely think I’ve got red thread in my lawn. Didn’t know what it was and thought it might be the dog (again) or dry patches. Thanks for the link, I’ll be straight on to that because it is quite widespread in my lawn. 👍🏼

Hi Steve sounds boring but it'd what I do... follow the label on the product! Each one will have different levels of fertilizer in and different strength so follow the pack. The soluable ones or nitrogen in liquid form mix with water and spray are the quickest to act

I think my lawn is definitely suffering from red thread too I’ve just power raked it this afternoon which got rid of a lot of dead grass and the next step is to apply some of this product to remove it completely.

Depends on your brand but in general I just follow the label depending whatever product I'm using to be honest 👍
Hi I’ve bought the water soluble nitrogen feed, I want to use my backpack sprayer. Is it a case of dissolving in a bucket and then spray over lawn once? Thank you Matt

Thanks for your quick response. I have 2 Miracle-Go products Evergreen Fast Green which is liquid and Evergreen Water soluble. The latter has 36% nitrogen the former has 27%. As I suspect I have Red Thread I assume I go for the one with higher nitrogen content?

Hi, Can you tell me which liquid nitrogen you added to the backpack sprayer? I see the links but some products such as some Miracle-gro say to user their dispenser or a watering can. As I have a backpack I want to use that.

You can use the backpack with the Miracle grow no problem, the product I use comes in 5000m2 packs so that is why I didn't link it as the Miracle grow will do the same
This is one of the reasons I’m trying the mulch approach as apparently the grass clippings have nitrogen when decompose that aids on reducing risk of red thread too
True but don't do that if you have red thread already

Hi. I made a mistake thinking I’d picked up Resolva Lawn weed killer but actually I was using non lawn weedkiller instead! I’ve now got about a dozen burnt pieces of yellow grass the size of a small saucer each. It doesn’t look great. How would you suggest I restore these? Many thanks.

Hi! Maybe a silly question, I am just new on lawns maintenance. Just had some iron sulfate added to my lawn a few days ago with seaweed, however I think I have similar fungal issue, maybe due to overwatering, and I am wondering whether I can add nitrogen straight away or should I need to wait a few weeks. Thanks.
Those products are compatible with nitrogran. Nitrogren is like the main meal, the others are supplements

I reseeded my lawn and turned out great but I used granual fertiliser and it appeared to burn it and in patches it doesn't grow no where near as fast as the good bits any advice?
How did you apply it?

We use a product called stress buster and some iron sulphate to dehydrate the plant to stop the fungus

Yeah strange though my front Lawn is not impacted. Higher rye grass in there and more sun perhaps
@@GardenLawncareGuy could be conditions, rye is less susceptible to spreading over fescue as the blades don't touch each other as much
Good idea to wipe blade after cutting with antibacterial wipe before moving on to cutting another lawn

Yes that is right, that is soluable nitrogen when mixed with water that is applied as a liquid form and will deliver the same impact

Yes I know, I use a liquid product that is coming in a 10,000 square meter pack which is not suitable for most people. However that Miracle grow water soluable liquid feed when mixed with water will achieve the same effect as its the same high nitrogren liquid fertiliser.

Would you advocate verticutting, prior to treatment?
I did actually verticut and not normal cut before doing it bit mainly to hit the POA. Clean the blades after cutting I've heard to prevent spreading

Get with the programme mate. It’s miracle grow water soluble lawn feed he’s using. 4 squid from any garden centre. He chucked in seaweed at the same time to combine things and do one application to the lawn rather than 3.
Hi Chris, the link is for a soluble nitrogren feed which is dissolved into water and then applied as a liquid spray. This reduces pack size and weight but still has fast acting nitrogren as it main ingredient. Buy that, mix with water and apply it 👍 I added the seaweed ontop to improve plant stress but the product needed is liquid or soluable nitrogren

@@GardenLawncareGuy Same here, worked really hard on getting my back lawn looking the shizzle and then red thread comes along. Also have you got any tips for stopping slugs eating young grass shoots? I overseeded and the slugs have come along and gobbled up the new sapplings! I don't want to use slug pellets because of the dog so looking for an alternative.
