Doc louis intensifies
Now you've done it, you won't like Bashmaster when he's angry!
_Doc Louis' approved!_
We should’ve never fought him, he was just enjoying his ice pop and now it’s gone!
The best music ever
I don’t know what more awesome:
A gorilla fighting a polar bear, the fact the bear’s name is Bashmaster, or how this entire fight only happened because you made said polar bear drop his popsicle.
You're a f**king gorilla fighting a polar bear with a spiked hammer named Bashmaster while fighting atop a floating block of ice surrounded by punch and piranhas while listening to this theme... I don't think we can top that level of badass.
dude just the thought of a gorilla fighting a polar bear is more than enough to be that much of a badass situation in its own part
With a Popsicle.
it makes it the best fight in the game! In fact one of my new favorite boss fights, everything about it is awesome
Daniel Brown I didn't think anything could match the Metroid Prime boss fights but then this polar bear with a hammer and epic theme music came along.Good old Retro Studios, they're truly awesome!
Hell yeah, I spent the time waiting in between hits making DK "dance" while this song was F**KING BLOWING MY MIND!
“It’s just a song about an angry polar bear, it doesn’t need to go that hard”
David Wise:
It's an angry polar bear with a warhammer. It definitely needs to go that hard lol
David is in fact very wise
@@kumatheronin8961and also his full name is like something out of a medieval movie: Bashmaster the Unbreakable
I love how Bashmaster turns more and more purple as you knock him into the juice more and more times.
And how much more pissed he gets too
“RAWWRRRGH!!!”
"I JUST TOOK A SHOWER AND NOW I'M FREAKING PURPLE! YOU'RE DEAD, APE!"
Now *he’s* grape flavored!
Except his head. Disappointing.
Punch Bowl? That has to be the best, and most painful pun I've heard in a while...
+Chuggaaconroy would be proud
ZFFM Ugh... punful.
not only is it a pun about the stage having punch around it but its also a pun about it being an arena due to the word "bowl" in the title, just one of many reasons why bashmaster is not only one of of my favorite bosses in awhile, not only one of my all time favorite bosses, but one of my all time favorite characters.
all praise Bashmaster the unbreaking
JuegoelMarko ...Glorious BashMaster Race?
Raargh *polar bear with giant spike hammer roars*
*lightly taps ice cube*
Will Daigle yeah the kicks he does are quite pathetic
dislikes smoke
And then you discover it was all a clever ruse to drop your guard before he starts to rip them across the battlefield toward the end of the fight.
CrimsonEbonyTears And then he tricks you and pretends hit it.
*slaps ice cube so hard it turns into a giant ice bullet*
@Tiger Art did you not get to the second part of the boss fight?
My personal favorite boss of the game. His looks, his weapon, his fighting style, and the fact that he's just legitimately a tough fight with no instant kills makes him a satisfying boss fight.
Yeah he looks so realistic and the music is so dang catchy!
Fredrick got some competition
All of that over a popsicle of all things!
Eustace: "That's it! I'm getting me mallet!
*this theme starts*
All this over a dropped popsicle LOL
Kirby Squeak Squad was over a piece of cake >.>
the fish that ate the whole thing when it fell in was the funny part
ChaoticArrow Kirby vs Bashmaster for the popsicle.
The94Venom Kirby would just inhale his hammer then hammer flip him into oblivion. :P
Then again he works for The Snowmads so it was gonna happen either way.
Just realized this boss fight is your last obstacle you need to pass before being able to return to DK Island, which honestly makes it so much cooler.
I just learned this polar bear boss is named Bashmaster.
BASHMASTER. You cannot make a better name for a better boss.
BEST BOSS EVAR
His full title is Bashmaster the Unbreakable.
THAT'S EVEN BETTER
I germany, they use the same name, just it is not bashmaster, but haulukas (means literally bashlucas)
LumianPrivat This bear has something against George Lucas ?
No, thats just the german name for the bear
Aside from fitting the boss himself, you really are reminded while listening to this that "this is for the right to go home." Wise is a mastermind.
One of the best bosses in the series. The design, the arena, everything was perfect, but it was the music that really tied the whole experience together and made it epic and memorable. David Wise is a genius.
NoBytes01 With Tropical Freeze getting ported to the Switch and a new Smash Brothers in the works, your wish might come true!
Bashmaster should have been the leader of the snowmads instead of Lord Knockoff
@@maximus4765 I think of that too.
I loved alllllll the bosses in this game(I think the last one was the least unique)
I never playe donkey Kong country tropical freeze And I have seen videos big pop pop and punch bowl sound like being straight up pump up music in a good way
This was the best boss in the game. Both for the fight itself and the music.
I'd like that as a final Boss Theme...
I know and i that love that boss fight and the music too
I personally prefer Baboom's theme but I can't deny that thus is an absolute BOP
With DKC Tropical Freeze turning 10 years old this month, it's just as well that this game is a timeless classic. the amount of quality and replayability this game has will definitely be held incredibly well until the next game.
Incase you haven't noticed this detail, all boss fights involving you fighting an animal that can live on icy frozen land will have a rock theme as it's boss music even if it doesn't match the world theme it's in. This may represent how furiously angry DK is at them for taking his homeland on his birthday.
Very well done having noticed that !
He’s not even mad at them for taking his island, he’s just pissed he never even got to blow out the candle on his cake.
@@crinklyonion1410Haha
But all the bosses in the game live in cold and icy regions

Rule #4: Don't piss off polar bears with giant hammers by destroying their fruit popsicles.
Rule #6: Play this music.
Rule #7 (which should be Rule #1) : Don't enter a polar bear's territory in the first place, in which you would end up f***ing with a polar bear.
Rule #8: if your name is Donkey Kong, ignore rules1-5, 7.
Rule #9: Listen to Rule #8 and keep jumping on a polar bear, so it can slip and fall into a pool of juice.

After the battle, why couldn't DK and his crew give the polar bear Coca-Cola?
"Share A Coke With A Polar Bear."
Coca-Cola Slogan 21901671
MrGojira95 I thought that too.
Stan Smith: "Polar bears... should not... give this... to their babies."
Assuming he'd like that, you Fudging Racist.
MrGojira95. Lol.
wise usually gets praised for his building up of ambience. but this might be the most badass boss tune in any video game ive played. no screaming choirs, latin or booming loud, just a guitar rocking out a complete bopper
I choose to believe that Bashmaster is a sensitive, philosophical soul who prefers to chill out on ice floes and contemplate the deeper mysteries of the universe...until you make him lose his popsicle. Then this song starts up as he demonstrates where his name came from.
I like the song that introduces the polar bear. It's when you come upon him, and he's relaxing and eating a popsicle. The music makes him seem like a tragic character, because all he wants to do is relax and eat popsicles, but he also has this allegiance to the snowmads that means he has to fight. :(
That was exactly my thought when I fight the boss. Retro, Wise...you are genius!
That kinda makes this bear the Snowmad equivalent to Donkey Kong himself. After all, DK just wants to relax and eat bananas, but villains keep forcing him into fights.
or ya know, he was enjoying a popsicle and you pissed him off by making him drop it in the water, those are fighting actions, you don't just say, "oh well" you get your giant hammer and beat the fuck outta those popsicle pandas
or he was trying to relax but then you ruined his day so he wants to ruin yours
The dude has a spiked hammer at his side, he's not hesistant to fight.
A gorilla vs. a viking polar bear named Bashmaster the Unbreakable, on top of an unstable iceberg in a piranha-infested lake.
Yep, this music is appropriate for the situation.
Arguably one of the top 3 favorite tracks in the Tropical Freeze Soundtrack for me.
It was one of the only ones that on my first playthrough I really stopped and appreciated/rocked out to.
What would you say are the other two?
And that saya A LOT.
The spiky ice bullets are such a pain in the ass. You never know which one he's going to fake swing which messes your timing. And after seeing them coming at you so fast, the fake swing one comes much slower but your brain got used to them coming at you really fast, so you fuck up your timing completely.
+Hudesko its Deliciously evil
And not even Cranky Kong's cane can jump on them!

This is DEFINITELY not the kind of track you would expect from a Donkey Kong game.
And it is amazing.
This is david wise music. HE'S AWESOME! THIS IS A GREAT MASTERPIECE!
ABSOLUTE BEST BOSS THEME IN DK HISTORY AND IT EXPANDS DONG!
What amazes me about this is. I've played Donkey kong since the snes days as a kid. This is only the first game to legit use rock and damnit it blew my expectations away.

Big Top Bop's and Bashmaster's Themes are awesome, but I prefer this one. It's more energic as the boss itself.
This is bashmasters theme.

Weighed Bobcat great name, but is it really his real name
+John Perry I dunno
It's just bashmaster
I fucking LOVE this boss music, I was headbanging the whole time while fighting this boss, and the boss itself was so awesome as well, such a fun and very well designed fight
Sakurai should have just ripped this game's entire soundtrack and put it into Smash Wii U
Yeah but when does he ever do anything good in the Smash community?
LOL, how about making every Smash Bros game?
+Hayden A I meant do something good for one of the games. *COUGH* *COUGH* NERF SHEIK *COUGH*
He's nerfed a lot of characters accordingly. Sheik has been nerfed, diddy's combos, sonic's back throws, etc. He's watched tournaments before. He even said himself when presenting an award to ZeRo "man, I need to nerf diddy again!?" so he did. Sakurai knows whats going on in the community pretty well
+Hayden A 1 frame of lag. Oh boy.
Dole vs Coca-cola.
Yeah
Be quite honest: this song is starting to grow on me quite a bit. I didn't like it at first, but after listening to it more and more, that changed. I particularly love that bit from 0:47 to 1:04.
Gotta say, I have to agree. This really fits that intense polar bear fight.
VGManiac456. That’s also my favorite part.

Best boss battle in the game
Abso-fucking-lutely mate
I like how in Fugu Face-Off, DK and co. purposely scare the fish and don’t seem too fazed when it fights back, but in this fight they seem sorry when they accidentally knock his popsicle out of his hand.
kongs have respect.
You wouldn’t be scared if a pufferfish approached you, would you?
A polar bear with a hammer on the other hand…
One of the best bosses in gaming of all time
maybe not deserving of THAT title, but it is still one of my favourites. this game definitely has the best OST of any though
@@oliyes406 honestly i think it could be as the character, the background, the context, the fight are perfect. In addition to the rock soundtracks in this game that are intentioned to be boss themes that represent animals that live in icy environment, that adds more fury to the Kong team against bashmaster in particular, as the kongs face the last elite of the Fredrik's army
@@ocreyy i didn’t think about that at first, fair point
an underrated and very unepected gem from David Wise. So rocking I almost forgot it was him. And I mean, his music is always rocking. But for it to be this action packed? Oh yeah, so awesome
it really brings the punch to the bowl thatis the heart.
This song is so rockin, I thought shoji meguro was the one who composed it. Since this is more his style.
SEGA does pretty good rock music :s
This boss was up close and personal. You destroyed Bashmaster’s Popsicle, and now your gonna pay.
OH YES, IT'S *HAMMER TIME!*
Bashmaster is one of my favorite top 3 bosses in this game. Mainly because of his kick-ass theme and how difficult he is. Lord Fredrick comes a close 2nd, and Skowl is a close 3rd.
When the entire fight revolves around a polar bear losing his popsicle because of a gorilla. I don’t blame him. He wasn’t even a bad guy tbh, he just wanted his popsicle.
I agree, and when Donkey Kong wasted the popsicle he didn't even look sorry. He just smiled broadly as if he was laughing! No wonder the polar bear got angry
I saw it more of like a “haha oops?” smile in a weak attempt to not piss off Bashmaster.
Bashmaster (that's the name of the polar bear for guys who didn't know ^^) really has a great soundtrack. This fits the battle really well.
Sdather. Exactly.
The King of the Jungle vs The Apex Preator of the Artic
A fight forever remember in gaming culture
This is perfection, the best video game boss i've fought against for ages! Hard,Challenging and he looks cool too! You gotta love Bashmaster :D
I dont know why but the simple thing makes this fight more incredible, but believe me, the fighting arena, literally fighting at the top of a giant iceberg with 360 scenary is so badass.
Pompy ,Bashmaster and and Lord Fredrik are my favorite bosses and they have the best boss music
I like all of them. Lord Fredrik for the challenge and the sheer feeling of finality, Bashmaster for the spectacle, BaBoom for the tight boss design, Fugu for the feeling of intimidation, Skowl for the spectacle AND tight boss design, and Pompy for introducing me to the rest of the game.
i love how david wise and kenji yamamoto can such varying genres of music and still make them all rock hard
Dave Wise, Stickerbrush Symphony... Kannon's Klaim and Kenji Yamamoto Rundas battle Metroid Prime title screen... my two favorite video game composers of all time working with each other, and what does it make? Perfection.
Sanctuary Fortress, Torvus, Etra, Quadraxis, Gandrayda, Phendrana, Omega Pirate. All Prime Trilogy soundtrack are wonderful
Lucetube GPlusStillSux. I agree.
Best boss fight in the game. And all over a popsicle!
The best. That is all. This soundtrack is legendary.
0:48-1:05
Love that part!
Stomp on that swinging hammered bear. So Great soundtrack.
Ok. So smash 5 is gonna need a new stage for DK right? So. How about using the arena for this boss fight as one (maybe add some platforms) and have Bashmaster as a stage hazard that shows up, does one of his attacks and then retreats (that way he isnt as intrusive as Ridley or Yellow Devil). And then have this song along with other TF songs. Fighters who fall into the punch would have to quickly jump out or be harmed by the Piranha enemies and the main platform would be floating on the punch and would tilt slightly as fighters move from one side to the other unless Bashmaster pounds on it which do more. I feel like thats a good way to represent this game as well as the DKC series since its still in a jungle, has the ice theme of TF, and even throws in a stage hazard
You are going to get another generic jungle stage with eight more Jungle Hijinx remixes, and you will like it.
SR T Hahaha
SR T pls no 😭😭😭
All jokes aside, that sounds like a cool stage idea.
I dont think it happened... and this music wasn't even in the game either wtf!?!?
It's just a song about an angry polar bear how can it possibly be that good?

Living on a Prayer!
Oh man, this boss was the coolest and most painful to fight... good thing the soundtrack was so good to keep me from completely raging...
This music is fucking amazing, I got to the boss, died once, and immediately came here to listen! :)
Amazing track. Dave Wise you've done it again!
"Are we the baddies?" -DK
This theme has some Bon Jovi vibes... I love it
Man this rocking blast is very great in 0:48 and 1:05 is getting your brain very cooler 🎸🥁🤟😆
A complete shame this song didn't appear as a selectable song in the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. 4.
You're sooooo right!
ugh I know! They had a couple songs from tropical freeze but sadly this wasn't one of them, why it wasn't is beyond me.
This boss could of been an amazing assist trophy summon.
Sanic Hegehog
He'd be one hell of a great playable character, that's for sure.
Sanic Hegehog I could only imagine what moves he would have had for an assist. I probably make ice blocks drop and then run at you, he probably could just smack ice blocks at you as well
This music kick's ass!!! David Wise is a musical genius!!!
One thing I've noticed about this game is that the soundtrack is SO much darker than the actual game. The boss fight for this is like textbook mario universe cartoonish stuff, but this sounds like something out of an SMT game!
Holy crap. If super smash bros 4 did an remix to you.. Just think how much more amazing and rock-heckit this will sound!
Why remake and possibly ruin such an amazing song? I say they should keep it the way it is. Punch Bowl would make an amazing stage hazard as well.
diediemissile That's what they usually do. They don't really make music for games like that. They sorta get other video game's soundtrack and do an pretty neat remix with theme.
Rice
I still think they shouldn't remake it. The song is too perfect in of itself. Out of the many boss fight songs people would choose to play in the background of any DKC stage, it would be this one. They might remake it, true, but i do hope they also include the original as well.
diediemissile Another reason they remake song is to make it what their were made to be. Basically for an example: Back when pokemon was bad they didn't have all the tools to make guitar flutes etc sound on an simple device but now with waay better audio and sound they can remake the song to what they were suppose to sound like.
Rice
But what if this WAS the song they were going for? Would seem kinda pointless to add a remix, remake and/or a remastered version
The magic I felt when playing this on the Wii U back in 2014 is unmatched.
I wasn't just playing a game...
I was embarking on a journey!
The Switch version is great! Don't get me wrong!
And it's great that you can take this masterpiece with you on the go!
...but this game felt at home on the Wii U.
Rest in peace to a brutally underrated console.
I mean to be fair the Switch version is more or less a direct port. Nintendo added hardly anything new and 4 years later still nothing. This game as a whole is neglected

Favorite theme and boss from the game.
I like to think of this boss as the guardian of the final world.
This is a perfect boss theme.
Cranky to DK: Bashmaster...is a bear of focus. Commitment. And sheer will. I once saw him kill three monkeys in a punch bowl...with a popsicle stick. A fucking...popsicle stick. And then, my son...you steal his alone time...and feed his fucking popsicle to the fish...
Honestly he has the entire right to be angry

My summer work grind session just became VERY epic.
More metal rock! Still an interesting approach, as I haven't hear this kind of music from Wise or from the DKC series. However this definitely is more orthodox than the first boss theme. I can't decide whether I like this more or the Pompy's boss fight music more.
