The Magneto Giant Size ties in at the end of the issue I think. The digital being trapped in that containment suit by Ned created a symbol while talking to Doug that looks like the key given to Magneto when visiting the ruins of the Old Kings of Atlantis.
I figured that the reason Storm didn't go through the R.P. was either this or she was pregnant with T'Challas baby since they're back together. She never has been one to just throw her life away. Frankly with the latter I think that may happen eventually, pregnant with the heir to Wakanda while living on Krakoa forcing her to choose between the two parts of who she is, now that would create a decent story. Looking forward to seeing her in XoS and her series in '21
They've done that before when she was Queen of Wakanda tbh I think its dumb. Wolverine is allowed to do everything under the sun and no one makes him pick. I don't think she's pregnant
Storm still not going through the resurrection protocols gives me a sense of security. Imagine there's gonna be a plot twist in the end where those who have gone through the protocols will flip. At least we don't have to worry about our resident weather goddess.
I totally agree! How important would being able to communicate with any sentient life whether organic or inanimate be???? How important is communication in social interactions??? ✌❤😎
This issue was FANTASTIC. The visuals the plot the characters. Everything was GOOD. 10/10. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this side of Storm. Thank You Hickman and Dauterman.
Maurice E What was impressive about Storm in this issue? The internalized thoughts about why she was fighting to live? I thought the issue was terribly unimpressive. To be fair though, I’m not a fan of Dauterman’s character art and I didn’t understand what was happening in the book. The Jean Grey and Emma Frost issue told us Storm was dying. None of the other books really developed that. Then, this issue resolved it very quickly and vaguely.
Remy Lebeau This Book was a call back to Classic Storm. The very reasons why so many of us love this character. Russell Dauterman May not be for everyone. But he did a fantastic job drawing her. Which is why so many people love his art and how he draws Storm. Which is A Lot better than most artist have done over the years. Which is also why the book was easy to follow. Exactly what part was Vague to you? Also I think this book is setting up for future things regarding Storm. They did mention Storm has big things coming her way in XoS and Next Year.
Hey hey! Awesome video Dave and great connections. I like what a couple of posters pointed out about Mags key from his own GSX looking eerily similar to the ball of consciousness at the end of the issue. I personally think Ned is going to factor in the future in a huge way and it would be way cool if it was Mystique in disguise (like she did in Orchis). ✌❤😎
If you look very closely, there was a certain symbol on the sentient sphere (who Cypher communicates to), which calls back to the Magneto issue where he holds on to a key with the same marking. I have to wonder if that would lead to something bigger for Magneto later, and I’m glad that Emma and Douglas’ involvement in some issues bring some sort of connectivity here. Honorable mention: the new island spot for Emma (in Magneto #1) had me wondering about this aforementioned “party” coming up, as seen in Marauders’ closing infographics. This trio’s (Jon, Russell, Matt) work on GSX will surely be a favorite in visual, emotional storytelling.
I definitely think the X-men stories are going Cosmic. Look at what Hickman did with the FF and Avenger/New Avengers leading into Secret Wars. You’ve got the Shi’ar, Brood, Phalynx and that alien race hanging out at the X-Mansion all connected with this reboot
I loved Doug's Warlock jetpack. I'm glad he's back. You are blowing my mind with this World Mind theory. That makes so much sense! With Doug's playful tone in the epilog, I hope it's on our side when the Phalanx comes to Earth to gobble it up.
Really enjoyed this issue one of the best in the series. I do have a bone to pick tho, when Monet calls Doug “The Bambi of the X-men”, what happened to his time in “All New X-Factor” where he learned how to read body language which included combat techniques ? I really like that added skill set for him.
i think that happened in New mutants, after he was brought back during necrosha. But to answer your question Hickman seems to pick and choose what continuity elements he uses
My expectations had been childish while anticipating this issue since gsx 1...I did ask that question while praying nobody "eggs" Storm...coz death is still death...but this one gave the opposite...Life is Life...and she more than anyone values life...even backstories such as her brood days solidifies her moral. P.S. the bonus as a Storm fan is that If my memory recalls this is the first time she used I am a goddess without someone reminding her she was worshipped as such coz coates' version had emphasized in her mind she was a goddess as people around her thinks she is a goddess aka their belief in her...today she claimed she is...on her own....😭 Now let me cry in a corner.... And not to mention I literally laughed at how Phantom x still asked if they gonna pay...🤣😂🤣😂🤣 I never expected that... I was also waiting for this vid...ahaha thank you for Krakin' this one 😁
Well now that you mentioned warlock present might bring problems down the line It does make Doug being a dangerous threat as with how high his Position is
I'm really intrigued by what Warlock and Doug's plans may be (if any), but at the same time I feel that Hickman is playing a game of misdirection with them. I gave no doubt that they will be very important down the line, so I wouldn't call any of the stuff about them a red herring, but I think some of the most interesting stuff regarding the Phalanx (and not just them) is hidden in plain sight elsewhere. I seem to recall the idea of all black holes being connected through someplace beyond time and space being mentioned at some point. I can't remember the details either but I'm sure that Hickman drew a connection between the Phalanx and black holes at some point. the fact that some of the chimera mutants from one of Moira's past lives got swallowed by the black hole in the head of Xorn's brother together with the Phalanx connection has me thinking that those ideas might get wrapped together at some point and we might see those chimera mutants again, along with some of those other concepts that seemed to be shaping up to be important throughout the run but have fallen slightly to the wayside. In any case I trust Hickman to be able to juggle all the balls he and his colleagues in the different mutant series already have in the air.
Yes!!! Black holes linking up like computers or something like that...it was an issue of PoX (black holes as computational devices is a discussed theoretical framework for a computer; the idea of data so dense that it becomes a black hole). That's a great catch Hugo! ✌❤😎
I definitely enjoyed the Giant Size series, especially the artwork in all of them. I'm a fan of surrealists like Roberto Matta, so the bold swirling colors of Jean Grey & Emma Frost and the Storm issue were a delight. I want to see more of the watercolor look Reis did for Fantomex. And the solitude and landscaping of the Magneto issue felt very serene and thoughtful to me. I just wish I got more Nightcrawler in his titular issue :D
I may be reading too much into it but they did kinda Hide Cyphers right arm in the last few panels when he walked up to the orb and talked to it. So I wonder if that has something to do with the symbol changing. But I loved seeing Storm Hickman said this would set up what she would be doing for the next few years and we would know it when we see it but I can't really catch it. Me and someone else kinda thought MAAAAAYBE they'll make Storm a Krakon Goddess?
I don't know what's going on with Fantomex or what Hickaman's planning to do with him. Also the way the issue ends is so weird, they just let let Fantomex, Ned and that weird virus thing in there?
It’s a parallel to Darwin, Synch and X-23 being left behind in the Children of the Vault. They’re most likely going to be connected somewhere down the road
I think the cohesive theme will be more evident down the line, and that all of these issues are to set up future parts of the larger story - Storm and Doug have been mentioned by the writers as having huge moments coming up. Other elements such as Emma’s Island, the sindri, the world etc will probably be longer term payoffs.
In some issues, media, and games have been disrespecting the goddess that is storm. In some they make her lighter skin tone, the actress that play her never get the chance to truly capture her character, or make her this side character. But I will say this, this issue storm looks beautiful, shes Elegant, strong, and powerful and her skin tone matches. Now I'm not trying to sound like some colorist but, media has been making her lighter even though she has deep brown skin tone. Also we need Storm to have her own solo comic again with her own team, and BP and her getting back together and having children as they were destined to
i really liked this series, but i was a bit like Emma like "why are we so worried about Storm, we'll just resurrect her..." very interested to see how this new sentient technological being will show back up later down the road.
He’s a beacon right ? Warlock is a beacon for the phalangx- in the xmen cartoon I remember his wife tracked him down (after she was brainwashed by phalangx) How does warlock come to know the xmen in hickmans version? Ps - maybe destiny only saw 10 lives for Moria because she wasn’t revived when moors does finally succeed?
Warlock's presence in Hickman's X-Men has not been explained. He showed up in a blink and you'll miss cameo in an early issue of X-Men (#7 I believe), then in GSX1 Nightcrawler, and now here. ✌❤😎
So glad she was not giving anything up,her body and soul will not be tampered with. All original, yeah don't mess with mommy's and Daddies perfect WORK. 🖤✊
I love your channel and I would like your opinion about something: Do you think these (Dawn of X)Giant Size X-men comics up until now, are worthy of having this title? Given the fact that you've read the original Giant Size X-men comics. I personally don't. These could have been easily been stories contained in the current X-men title Hickman is writing. They are hardly groundbreaking. Especially the first one which, although with very good art from Russell Dauterman, a bad taste rip off of Morrison's issue, posing as an Homage. I think Marvel is pushing Hickman to do these "extra-special" things. For obvious reasons...(Again, sorry for any grammar mistakes, I'm from Greece)
Hi there I was just wondering if you are going to update the reading order for the Hickman X-men series on your website with the latest issues? If not cool. If you are I’d be so happy I only read them in that order and I haven’t even touched them yet so if you were going to I’d be so happy
My first reaction is before reading the issue or watching the review... it doesn't matter if Storm survives? Just kill her off, have Apocalypse do it so it goes quicker. Death is pointless.
In dying you’re placing full trust that these resurrection protocols are fool proof and have zero side effects. I don’t think anyone would be comfortable with that.
@@210SAi - Exactly. If you're a mutant who has yet to be resurrected on Krakoa then I wouldn't be in a rush to go through that process hoping that you come out the same way you were prior to death. We know for a fact that several mutants that have been resurrected have been tinkered with in 1 way or another by Xavier and/or the Five.
@@BanksyMane Yep yep! However, Storm is the most vocal after resurrection. She almost plays high priestess when asking what the most important thing the resurrected are and the onlooking peeps yelling "Mutant!" like some cult. ✌❤😎

Hickman writes a black woman so well I thought it was my mama speaking. I need a solo Storm.
The Magneto Giant Size ties in at the end of the issue I think. The digital being trapped in that containment suit by Ned created a symbol while talking to Doug that looks like the key given to Magneto when visiting the ruins of the Old Kings of Atlantis.

I thought for sure this final GSXM would circle back to them.....
Can't wait for this weekend. That Blerd with out fear vid is gonna be LIT!!!
Because Warlock will be his Sword, enter house of X. Storm is such a powerful Goddess. Her will power is admirable
I like how this new launch pushed Cypher to the front line. People have always shitted on him for having the most useless power.
It’s not the fans fault when the writers don’t do anything to build the Mutant’s character up
