- X Force #12 follows up on the Russian invasion of Krakoa in the previous issue, and cements Hank McCoy, Beast’s, status as least heroic Krakoan mutant in the entire Dawn of X. As we head towards X of Swords, Krakoa faces some of its gravest threats yet both inside and out - but with mutant involvement in each.

My Theory...They're gonna make a Cerebro-Bomb. Using the sword and a Omega level telepath to use it.
What if, Sinister has found away to combine some of Dark Beast with Beast if he was been resurrected. Maybe, Sinister is able to do a little DNA manipulation to anyone resurrected.
I theorized there was at least some Dark Beast inside the head of Beast when he covered this in the previous Krackin Krakoa on Beast
Maybe this Beast is doing kick having a little bit of Sublime in his system.

Ever since the mysterious murder of the last surviving assassin in the Healing Gardens, I've had a suspicion that Piotr might just be the 'mole' on Krakoa (most likely without him even being aware of it).
He definitely hasn't been the same since his return from whatever trauma he incurred on his mission to save mutant children in Russia. In his deep, depressed conversation with Domino, he even brought up the idea of drowning them both to end their misery.
I'm also almost positive that Piotr is the sole reason that Domino's dying wish to be reincarnated with the memories of all the trauma she had incurred at the hands of Xeno never came to fruition. I think he made the decision for her to be resurrected without them on his own and simply never told anyone of her final words.
Anyways, I love this speculation on Beast & all your Krackin' Krakoa content!
I was just curious as to what you might've thought that last data page could be trying to indicate about Colossus.
I feel like X-Force #13 (in X of Swords) is about to show us a big reveal of what’s really going on with Colossus, Beast, and Krakoa as a whole.
Wolverine knows about Domino’s dying wish and is super uncomfortable with her not being reborn with her memories.
I have a bit of a dark period in X-Men, so there may be more prior to these instances, but post-AvX, when Beast brought back the O5, literally everything started going wrong... Then in IvX when Beast sides with the Inhumans... he's constantly putting mutants in danger and is such a different character from the one I was first introduced to in X-Men: TAS

I forget which issues/arcs it covered but there’s also the period when Dark Beast imprisoned Beast and took his place on the X-men
Bendis' whole thesis was that Beast was actually an asshole and the writers since have kept adding to that
Dante Crottogini I’ve read that Bendis has a penchant for being tone-deaf with characters that he isn’t interested in. I just can’t understand why the Marvel editorial staff is supporting this characterization.

Turn dark and the dark xmen are coming back . What your seeing is the new origin of the dark xmen. Colossus bro, Vulcan, Madelyn, dark beast, sabertooth, mystique and destiny as head masters.
Apocalypse will be a wild card
I’ve been thinking lately about the different types of beings there are now i.e Vamps, humans, mutants, children of the vault, now Xeno, and I kno I’m missing some more.
Theory: Ten of Swords means destruction right? What if this is a war between all the new races of people vying for the planet?
Beast is going down the Dark Beast path, or is Dark Beast.

I don't really like the Dark Beast Theory. I have nothing against it, but I would much prefer some character development for Beast's personality. I feel like if we just throw it to being "Oh it's just because lo and behold it's been Dark Beast all along! Beast isn't really turning into a sociopath, he was just influenced". I feel like that kind of revelation is cheap and finding out that Beast has developed some moral degradation due to the responsibility that comes with X-Force on a new nation, combined with all the tragedies mutantdom and he himself has faced, is better. It won't be as cinematic as, say, a psychic battle between 2 beasts, but it can be more relatable and mutant.
I agree. It's not like he hasn't been super unethical over the last 10 years, e.g., bringing the O5 to the present.
The way I see it, this portrayal of Beast is a critique and satire on how he was written in those last 8 to 10 years - that even though Marvel wanted to make him more “edgy” yet still noble, he instead appeared as a villain in the eyes of readers. I believe it’s all building up to having this current version of Beast killed off and have the Classic Beast resurrected through the Protocols. Wipe the slate clean and see how well he does from there.
Beast is my favorite mutant, it sucks this is what they're doing with him.
Mine, too. My guess is that this current version will be killed off and they will revive the Classic Beast (70s to 90s version) through the protocols.
Daniel Scott They’ve been writing Beast as a wreckless scientist since before he brought the teen X-men to the future without regard to the dangers of the timeline. This is just a continuation of things that were already there.

Remy Lebeau I can accept that the “wreckless scientist” aspect has always been a part of Beast to some extent. However, it feels like the writers have been playing it up so much to the point it drowns out all of the other aspects that make up Beast.
Yeah beast is living up to the name, in a deceptively intelligent way! But, we gotta wait til next issue to see if this was a greatly needed move. As of now, Beast is looking bad, but it might be needed. This was a great issue getting ready for "X of swords".
Xeno’s useage of mutant graphings such as Dominos skin and the arm of a mutant this issue definitely brings to mind the U-men of Morrison’s run which we know has a huge impact on the krakoa era of X-men. So my train of thought is maybe John Sublime who created the U-men is that he may possibly next controlling all of these Xeno members or he could be the peacock tattooed man himself. Also would like to add that beast was controlled by Sublime in the finale to this story here comes tomorrow I think this adds a lot of cred to the theory since beast has been acting very out of character since the start of this run of x-force . On a side note Chimrea mutants are also heavily featured in this story so another connection to the Hickman narrative.
I’m still sticking to my original theory that there is at least a portion or the entirety of Dark Beast inside Beast’s Head. His behavior is too similar to the last time Dark Beast imprisoned Beast and fooled the X-men into thinking he was the really Beast
I think it would be cool if Beast gets some sort of third look. Like something tragic should happen to him that changes his appearance for a third time.

I love how deep you dive into things, you have made this Dawn of X much more interesting for me.
Beast Jumped the Shark the moment he brought the Original Five X-Men to modern day...after that he has been on a downward moral and ethical spiral. Also interesting is his younger self dabbled in dark magics, which shows that Beast always had the potential to become compromised. It would be awesome if he became one of the Krakoan mutants' new villains!

Is definitely not a coincidence that Kid-Omega is a telepath mutant and Cerebro has the potential to target mutants practicly anywhere. He could weponize his eyes and brain using some kind of organic tech just like they use in Krakoa to access the information in the cerebro sword.
Remember the House of X/Powers of X promotional illustration by Mark Brooks? The version of Beast in that artwork was the Classic 70s to 90s version of Beast. Considering it’s the ONLY version of Beast in that picture, it’s an indication that the Current version of Beast will be killed off and have the Classic 70s to 90s version resurrected in his place.

Maybe if Beast and Dark Beast are on the planet at the same time Xavier/Cerebro can't tell the difference and has effectively combined their minds into a single entity?
That’s been on the minds of many readers, including myself. With Domino’s current situation with her memory loss, it’s very possible.
So strange that this is a Tarot based event and we have not heard literally anything about Hellion´s "Tarot"aka Mari-Ange Colbert... That would´ve been interesting.
About Beast definitely, i feel like he´s trying to make it up to Scott and Charles for some points in time i which he was not 100% for the x-men, like with schism, AvX and in general the times he´s literally chosen the avengers over his own people. That lead to him time displacing the original x-men and IvX so..... Just saying... i think psychologically it makes sense for his character to go this route over guilt.
PD: I´m getting the vibe that X of Swords is going to be about Krakoa acquiring a life debt with Apocalypse :v

That white page on the last page was one of my favorite ones so far. Just by using the crossed out line, they show interesting character work about how hard it must be to not "Colossus" all your problems away.
You know if you really look at dawn of x-series' with a few exceptions each one has one that's walking down a dark path or is at least teetering it. Beast is just the most obvious about it, I wouldn't be surprised if down the line if he continues like this he ends up fighting Wonder Man. Kinda like this new authoritarian beast vs the man that could bring out the playful puppy in him. Frankly I'm still waiting for the Dawn of X's big bang
I have a feeling that in the X of Swords event, X-Force #13 is going to show a BIG reveal of what’s really going on with Colossus, Beast, and Krakoa as a whole.
@@codybrinson3520 God I hope you're right. The Dawn of X has been giving me a headache with the whole beating around the bush story. I just want to get to the point with a few reveals. Emma Frost is the reason why Kitty can't gate travel, Professor X is Onslaught, and the only reason Cyclops, Jean and Wolverine have the paths to the one room is because they have nightly Uno games
😂The fact beast thought that was gonna fly is crazy. I trust Hickman writing but as many said b4 it's clear to readers how easy it is to certain groups to get into krakoa. Post X of Swords I hope there is a point we the nation of Krakoa is Seen as a top dog of sorts to help balance out how we see them. Of course we know it will fall one day my hope is that day is years away😂 & I wanna see the X-Men actually live as a Wakandan/Sh'iar stable empire for a bit.
I'm not really caught up to X-Men at all matter of fact I'm just starting Joss Weadens run after finishing Grant Morrison's and clicked on a video just out of curiosity but this is kind of a shame I think as of recently starting reading more Xbooks Beast has been a consistent favorite of mine. Also sad to see he no longer looks like a cat
I think hanged man is referencing Thor in a more obvious visual depiction. But I think your theory holds water too.
This theory of yours seems to be on point. I think Beast should be exiled from Krakoa. Just to go back to the Avengers. He'd make the perfect spy for either group he actually chooses.
Moreover in the tv series and comics Beast is constantly depicted as hanging upside down while thinking a literal hanged man.

2 issues with the idea of being too far gone. 1. Look at who else is on Krakoa and 2 I thought Bishop was too far gone with the hope situation too. I do like the Hanged Man theory though.
Do we know that Sublime is gone? Could they be resurfacing to face Krakoa?
Back when Cypher was explaining his interpretation of the history of Krakoa, there was one panel that showed a sword coming out of the ground when the other's invaded the island. I always thought the Cerebro sword looked strikingly similar.

The disparity between Colussus' and Magik's mutations has struck me as odd for a while. After these last two issues of X-Force and my learning of Mikhail and his mutation, Magik's and Mikhail's mutations seem to me to be much more in parity. This leads me to ponder why Colussus's mutation his so different from both his siblings as well wonder if there might be more to his mutation then what is commonly known.
Speaking of Magik, does Beast expect to detain a Krokaon Commander and how did Beast get those in the panel to show up for the "parade," I doubt all there would sign off on it? In particular Storm and Nightcrawler, who are both on the Krokan Council.
To me Hank is essentially J Edgar Hoover.
I dont remember if Beast's downfall started with Grant Morrison or even earlier but damn if I dont miss the old "oh my stars and garters" Beast. The current Beast seems to have aged 30 years more than his teammates too. Just kill off this version and gives us the 90's beast back because this one is destroyed beyond repair. Honestly they should just have Franklin Richards reboot the whole damn 616 back to the 90's.

I read it initially as what Piotrs love interest wished had happened.
Considering that all of the data pages with third-person narratives have Russian letters at the bottom, I believe that Mikhail is the author. He briefly went on a tangent of fanfiction where he wrote out what he wished his brother would have done to Beast, then he caught himself in the moment, and then crossed the paragraph out.
Not having read the issue yet - Hauling in Colossus for questioning could be a set-up for Peter to admit that he purposely ignored Domino's request to retain her memories of the trauma she endured. That could be seen in a pretty damning light for Colossus.
As a long-time Beast fan - yeah, it's time to go. The integrity of his character is as compromised as Hank Pym was. Eventually, the character's story has to end. In this case, he lived up to the name he chose for himself.
Hank Pym was a good person who suffered mentally as all his companions didn't care and manipulated him for their own ends

Beast or as Marvel or Disney refer him 'Proof that intelligence is a bad thing because it removes your empathy', lol. I'm surprised that Beast would do this to Colossus and not Omega Red, I bet you if Beast had done this to Omega Red first Wolverine would not have a problem with this. Also, I blame Wolverine for this, check this out: The first issue of X-Force, Beast was trying to get a lay of the land where he is attacked by a Krakoan beast until he is saved by Wolverine and tells Beast that 'Krakoa makes people safe and when you feel safe you get soft.' I think Beast took this heart and is applying this mindset to everything. I don't understand why Mikhail would want to betray his own kind.

Who exactly is Kayla. Did I miss something. Is she new to this series. Colossus wanting to walk away is nothing new. He is one of the most powerful X-Men and even though his mutation is combat oriented he fights out of necessity. I could see him playing the reluctant hero or just wanting to walk away, but the married in the savage land to a water shaping mutant makes me feel I missed something.

It's been established the titles are not linear. Some happening now can be set before/after another title coming out at same time. Recent events in Excalibur (when Jaimie had alt world ?#9?) shows everything up to that issue happens in the early days of X-Men before Krakoa joins with other half .

You know its actually possible that he is a spy for Russia. Remember he was introduced to Krokoa. He was busted up and traumatized. Is it not possible they turned him into a double agent and he's the guy who's been sneaking around and killing captured humans.
I think uts going to be Beast was right, or at least somewhat right. He does bring up a few good points that its foolish to completely trust everyone.
Beast is being influenced by Madelyn Pryre Hence waht X of Swords is about. It's a reckoning with her and magic in general with mutantdom
Hmmm... she might not be the mastermind behind the entire X of Swords event, but I can see her playing a part in it. Here is how I see it:
Beast is working under Madelyne Pryor > Madelyne Pryor is working under Nathaniel Essex > Nathaniel Essex is working under Apocalypse > Apocalypse is working under Arakko/Okkara itself.
What if hox/pox & dawn of x whole series ends up before Jonathan Hickmans Secret Wars?
Then how do you explain the current X-men interactions in Empyre?

Hickman usually stays close to his source material like a teacher. He teaches you a concept. Then he quizzes you on it. After he quizzes you he moves on to the next concept but remember in school the tests usually covers the first quarter of the semester. I bet everything we see from HoX & PoX to DoX will revert back in XoS. He will test you on what you knew from the start. Did you already forget he tried to trick us in thinking that Morias six life was unseeble but we were seeing it all along.
Also most of the Omega mutants are reality warpers. That's not coincidence. I bet Morias lives aren't fully erased. We might be also be seeing Rasputin come back. And I feel that Beast isn't Dark Beast or Beast. He's Sinister. Dont forget Sinister can shape shift as well.
I also believe this takes place between Avengers world and Times runs out. Also if you do not see time stamps in the comic then anyone can add it to any continuity.
This whole storyline is ridiculous. Beast never should've been put in charge of X-Force. His expertise is in science, not national security. There were far better choices for that role than Beast.

I thought his issue was enemies "burying the hatchet" so easily and becoming allies. It's not normal that everyone just embraces their mutant nature and forget their past, historical interactions.

It’s not just Beast. The majority of Mutants on Krakoa have displayed racism in one way or another.

Beast been gone since before he betrayed the xmen for the inhuman and the avengers corroborating with hydra cap. Boooooy he been a traitor! Kill him or put him in a separate no place from sabertooth because them together is a mistake they will regret. While he may not become dark beast he has the potential to be be worse because he is not just unbridled incoming thing for research but he is clearly thinking things through very clearly with little error.
I love the idea of them putting him separate from Sabertooth. 🤣

He attacked her big brother (who is literally the nicest of all the X-Men combined) and she's probably his next target (although I wonder if Beast is really dumb enough to attack Limbo's Supreme Sorceress who is also a War Captain)
Stupid issue. Wolverine chasing away Omega level mutants and telepaths was laughable, it's like a 16 year old fanboy writing his best interpretation of wolverine. Also, why are Domino and Wolverine the only mutants who care about Peter?
Hank's characteristation was way off especially the last few words that came out of his mouth, he was never that extreme unless we're counting Dark Beast. His characterisation reminded me of the last few arcs of Revolutionary Cyclops, way off base. My least favourite issue so far in Dawn of X. Just a plain stupid book.
