- Jonathan Hickman and Rod Reis return from their New Mutants stint to create Giant-Size X-Men: Fantomex, the fourth entry in the “Giant-Size” series, and the first issue to directly connect to what we learned about Storm back in Giant Size X-Men: Jean Grey and Emma Frost.

Debuting in Grant Morrison's New X-men, his primary power is the art of misdirection, and Fantomex is also a world class thief (often putting him in a mini rivalry with Gambit), and has the particularly unique connection to a companion/piece of himself that looks like a giant spaceship known as EVA.
Hickman, Reis, and letterer Ariana Maher structure this giant sized issue around Fantomex’s repeated journeys into The World throughout various decades, seeming to move from the 40’s Howling Commandos, and progressing around 10 years at a time until present day.

Hickman mentioned a while back (Feb I think) that the Xavier in HoX/PoX through to X-force #1 where he gets assassinated is the Fantomex body and he returns to his body when he's resurrected. I'd assume that Fantomex was just resurrected at some point after Krakoa's establishment
Scott and Logan’s New X-Men suits really took me back!
This video reminds me of Evan. I can't remember if he was shown in Krakoa. What will Apocalypse do if he sees a young clone of his? That would be an interesting issue.

I remember hearing that at the beginning of powers of x/ house of x Xavier was still in the Fantomex body. When Xavier was killed he was then brought back in his own body.

Great review. I was so glad seeing Fantomex back after he loaned his body to Xavier during Soule’s Astonishing X-men run.
Professor X said "This is the world, Rhane Sinclair. And you have returned to it" after she was resurrected in the very first issue of New Mutants (written by Hickman).

I also thought that Storm was out of commission so assumed all Marauders issues so far were set before the first Giant-Size issue. My guess/hope is that the Storm issue will set up her part in X of Swords and that these issues are set close to the beginning of XoS. This would make sense release wise as GSXM: Storm comes out the same week as X of Swords: Creation

Why did Hickman ignore that Fantomex spent a lot of time in the world during Remender's run? Ultimaton helped him protect Evan during that run. Speaking of which where is Evan? Is he in Krakoa?

He was. And that was one of the best modern X stories which is why i think it's a shame Hickman didn't really touch on it

I think Jordan D White said that Xavier was in Fantomex's body until he died in X-Force. That is all we have so far.
Couldn’t the 5 have just resurrected another Fantomex body to place his consciousness back into?
Fantomex isn't a mutant he's an "Enhanced Human". There's no resurrection for protocol humans.
I'm enjoying the series, but it's hard to feel the risk of Storm dying considering she can be brought back to life easily
I suspect there's something with the Vault infection that makes her death more threatening. Maybe less death, more transformation.

i bought this issue and i had not gotten any other giant seized x-men comics and i don't understand whats is happening with the series do you know whether this is a one off issue or it is continued in other giant size comics

If death is off the table via resurrection protocol than why is Storm stressing? I mean couldn't Xavier just make it painless? Or anyone of the quiet council simply snap her neck? Then she would get a new body? Unless of course her participation in the process is so vital. Iirc she was there or maybe that's the mission they all die? Idk but this is starting to feel too much like Secret Wars: one little fuck up and the whole thing falls apart.

I know that Fantomex is from weapon x program but I don't understand is he a mutant?.
I thought that was Monet and Cypher.

@@210SAi she's not with X-factor do you mean X-Corp? Also no one knows where this fits in the timeline it could be before or after Empyre, and she can show up in more than one book anyway.

The World? I am confused now! Do I need to pick up this issue to understand what the world is?
It's the weapon x artificial environment. It was also the place that the clone of apocalypse was hidden during the Xforce run with this character.
As well it is also what the Ultimate Universe Reed Richards (Known as the Maker) used to create the children of tomorrow.
Think of it as the Tardis from doctor who except instead of moving through time time is instead manipulated with in the enclosure. This is primarily used in order to breed generations of eugenic and gene manipulated life forms.
Weapon X used it to create all it's later day projects and the Maker used it to perform 1000 years of selected human breeding to create the more evolved Children of Tomorrow which in our world took about a day.
This issue kinda confused me; full disclosure I've only read a bit of stuff with Fantomex's past.
Fatnomex’s past is about as clear as Wolverine’s was in the 80s
It does outright state that they are genetically identical. I don't know how you missed that or how you got the opposite of what actually happened...
Actually bro, no. Wolverine is NOT Weapon X. Weapon X isn't one person, as it's a program. The Weapon X project took a group of men/women, all who were mutants who had various skills/powers & used them as a black ops group called Team X. After that, most of the group were (unwillingly) thrust into the Weapon X project. And the same Team X agents, were the same Weapon X Project/Program "Agents/Test Subjects"; those being:
Kestrel, Mastodon, Maverick, Sabretooth, Wolverine, & Silver Fox. So was Wolverine a part of the Weapon X Program? Yes, but is he Weapon X himself? No.
