  • Attention is an intimate aspect of awareness, but we mostly consider what we are attending to rather than the nature of attention itself. In this talk Peter turns our attention to attention itself, exploring the two basic modes of attention, and how learning to relax our attention is one of the simplest and most effective ways of returning to Being.
This is fifth talk in series Mindfulness of Being.

Peter, I suggest discussing your investigative discoveries with Angelo DiLullo. I suspect that he will have some interesting perspectives to share as I recall him discussing similar.
    Thanks for your work.

It seems to me that withdrawing or relaxing attention is a form of surrender or equanimity - a kind of merging with our sense perceptions. This is something that I have had to learn in working with awakened kundalini, which creates a lot of tension in the body. I find that when I allow my attention to relax as completely as I can in meditation, energy begins to flow, sensations become more blissful, and the attention is carried effortlessly and automatically to different parts of the body - usually amongst the chakras, without me directing it. I can see how this could lead to the realization of No-Self if cultivated and extended into daily life.

Thanks Dean. The more relaxed we can be with these transitions the easier they are. We just have to catch that tendency to resist or control

So subtle and powerful to choose not to choose! To actually TRUST!

One of my favorites of the series, having realized I have a similar interest in ‘attention’.
Additionally it has a meditation @ 30:15 that I think serves well as a complement to Peter’s Meditation Series.
Thank you Peter - your perspective is a very unique one in today’s world of spirituality and offers us a different way to see things.

Amazing! But it will not work for 98% of the audience but you yourself know that! The fact is that Tolle's "Pain Body" turns out to have a physical body too, which works reflexively, automatically and constantly! You must discover it in yourself first.
