Way to go. That's the way I learned to do injection work. I went down to Evans junkyard, pulled pumps off of junk engines, and tore them apart and studied them. That was back before the internet and getting information was like pulling teeth.

Always Check oil pressure when cranking . Pair of overalls on standbye ready to chuck in air intake if it takes off . Drop belts as rusty fan hubs chuck blades . Bypass fuel filters and run on a clean drum of fresh fuel , old filters can be rotten and send paper /crap thru pump . Checking engine shuts down is text book perfect ….never start an engine unless you know how to shut it down . Wish this thing was in my yard ….you both did really well getting it started !!

My uncle drove an R series dump truck when I was a kid, the R series was the first truck model that I built too.

❤❤ When I was waiting for my load of sand at the sand pit, my Dad drove up. Another man was starting a business hauling and he used K,Ws. They were pretty. I said Daddy, let's get some dump trucks like Sonny's. We were all Mack. Daddy said" you are in the truck made for our kind of work, those trucks Sonny has are sooner then later going to blow a rear. Of course, Daddy was right. He even built a thermodyne" Big Red, when I was young, like grade school. She was beautiful. She pulled our lowboy and Cats. She was stole one night by a drunk. The drunks drove her off a cliff and lived to face Daddy. Too bad for them, haha. She still sits behind our shop, a burnt out shell, but I will never let her go.❤❤❤

Sweet. Must be r model day. I was just working on the farms rd 686sx today. 300hp e6 2v. Wiring for the headlights were shot and the engine shutoff cable snapped. Only way to learn sometimes on the older equipment is dive into it. Mistakes will be made but only way to learn. Ebay has mack manuals from this Era quite a bit. 442 manual from 67on should have everything for the 864 in them. They made multiple manuals tho. Some have only drive line and cab. The others have engine and trans.

I'm a Master Plumber by trade for over 30 years, but like you, I work on all kinds of things trying to figure things out. There is a lot of "critical thinking" in my trade and what you're doing there is no different. There is a "self satisfaction " when you can fix or get something working again. Btw...I was gonna suggest you putting heat on that nut...as we Plumber's use heat to un-cease things all the time. I enjoy the content, even though I'm not a trucker...but I do enjoy Big Rigs, and old trucks. I'm waiting to see you around, since I don't live far from you, if I do, I'll introduce myself.
