As a long time Mesa Roadster owner(2008-present) I have a lot of respect for the new EVH5150iii line of amps. Great cleans and searing lead tones. The biggest thing i've noticed is that you really dont need a boost in front of a EVH on the red ch. It's tight and articulate on its own. The blue ch CAN benefit from a boost if you're playing metal or punk to really get it tight and punchy. The Mesa absolutely needs a boost for ch 3+4, as do most of the rectifier series of amps. I'm really considering changing teams as i feel i've coaxed all the tones i can get out of the Roadster for the last 14 years. It's definitely hard to give up 4 ch's though, time will tell! Great comparison and playing .
Thank you for the kind words! I also used a boost with my Roadster on certain songs. You’re right it tightens it up. The big plus for me about the EVH Stealth is it’s lighter and smaller lol. And it has MIDI! I use my HX Effects for channel changing and it’s perfect! I also have a Keeley Compressor plus in front on the Stealth that tames the cleans and adds that perfect sustain.
I loved your comparisons and playing. I had the Roadster and traded it for the EVH 5150..first series. My friends in the band thought I was insane, they'd never heard of EVH ..this was only 12 years ago. I will say the Roadster is an amazing Amp. So are EVH's..
Thanks for subscribing! They are both tone monsters and have their place. I am using the EVH for gigging now and love it. Especially being able to change channels via midi with my HX Effects.
The Stealth is fatter sounding (lower-mid focused) which is probably why you've preferred it - subconsciously - over the EL34? Has the Stealth replaced the Roadster as a live rig?
I would have to say that I am more of a 6L6 fan. I have not personally played the EL34 EVH model. I watched a lot of comparison videos though. Lol. So far the Stealth has replaced my Roadster at live gigs. I love the midi capability on the Stealth. I use the Line 6 HX Effects to control the amp channels via midi.
Damn...came to hear the roadster... stayed for your awesome playing and vicious playing!
Thanks!

Sounds great, did you use a boost at all on any of the takes?
No boost. Just guitar into amp.
@@mjguitar amazing how tight the rec sounded.
Cool Video and good tones!
Unfortunately I cannot make out the settings on the Mesa.
Still I dig the comparison. Keep it up!
Thank you! I can’t make out the settings either lol I’ll put them in the description
Nice demo mate 👍
Thanks so much!
The lows on the stealh definitely had more clarity to my ears...over the internet. Mesa has that spongy low...again, to my ears..
You are correct!
