I love my Roadster. Built like a tank! Only needed a tube change after 5yrs! Went to the factory for maintenance and Rich took care of me and even gave me a quick factory tour! Thank you Mesa boogie!
I am assuming any negative comments were made by people who can't afford the amp. I won mine on e-bay for a reasonable price. If you can't get several usable tones you like from this amp I suggest you take up another instrument.
Just got this amp for a steal and it is hands down my favorite amp EVER. It is one of the only amps that has amazing cleans and amazing distortion. You can dial this amp to so many different sounds. Whatever style you play, it can be dialed in. I'm keeping this amp forever. If you're smart, find one and buy it asap. 🤟
I wish i had just come straight here!. lol, This 10 year old video is still the best rundown I've seen!. I wanted to hear the Tweed and Brit(plexi) tones and that's exactly what I got. Thank you. I'm upgrading from my Triple Rectifier as my playing tastes are broadening further into a prog direction and starting to love those 70's tones. That and a love for Carlos Santana. Thank guys!.
I have now had this amp for around 6 months now and I am still in love with it! I can play Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes on both channels 1 and 2, all the way to Carcass, Linkin Park and Converge on channels 3 and 4. Such a versatile amp. The only thing is the combo weighs so much you need two people to move it around.
I'm not sure if i should get one of these or if i should wait and collect money for my dream amp Mark V? The Mark V i could use at home but i'm afraid that the roadster is too loud. You should do a comparison of those two. Edit: I realised the one i could get now would be the Raodking II, but for that one i don't find a good demo video.
Hi +schissgring - Both the Roadking and the Mark Five are basically the same power. One wouldn't necessarily be better for 'home use' mor ethan another. The most important thing for you to determine will be - which one do you like the sound of most for the styles of music you play. The Rectifier is a fairly different sound from the Mark Five; I would really suggest you attempt to play each amp in person and be able to hear and FEEL the difference between them. They will both sound good for lower volumes at home but both can be used for very different things. Let us know if you have any further questions. Hopefully we can help you decide what Mesa will be the best for you! :)
It's defintely an amp that offers a lot of options, Ian. Some love that flexibility and the the possibility of getting different tones and switchability from the amp that grows as they changes styles. Some people love it! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and best of luck in your tone search. :)
MESA/Boogie The extreme variability of this amp has always attracted my attention, but I (laughably) fear I would never be able to use it to its full potential. I already have too much fun verbosely describing my gear to non-players too, I don't need to be encouraged :)
@@mesaboogie only speaking what I believe to be the truth. I'll have another Mesa Boogie some day!! I'm still kick myself in the ass for selling my Boogie a few years back...never again will I make such a mistake.
Yes if the pedal is in your FX loop and the channel is set for "FX ON" on the back of the amp and the other channels are set to "FX OFF" But then remember that on the other channels if you switch on your FX Loop that effect will come on.
is this amp a bit 'warmer' than a normal dual rec?i had a dual rec once, and although i loved it i found getting anice warm hi gain tone was pretty difficult...the mark 5 is so much tonier than a normal dual rec, but these seem like they might be in a good place somewhere 'between' those 2 amps
Gun Dgen yes. It's killer. I love it. It's a ton of amp but it kills most amps I've ever played. I have jcm800/ diamonds and others and the distortion just kills
is there anywhere that says what settings he is using? i have a a les paul custom plus, and no matter what i do, it always sounds like an over drive pedal is on. very low distortion, but it is there.
I have the combo for the Roadster. I have switches on the back for "FX on/off" for each channel. This would allow you to change channels and the fx would be automatically be on or off.
Got one ... incredible amp. The roadster-amp may sound complicated, but just use one/two channels/one mode and adjust with guitar-volume controle and maybe a great pedal (Xotic etc) ... It sure will deliver, but will you ... ;-) A Boogie will outclass a lot of musicians; the amp can always keep up but the more you'll put in, the more will come out ... its amazingly simple, actually :-))
hello guys at mesa.... Just bought my roadster and could you please send me the settings of each sound at this video? Presence, bass, treble and treble?? tks a lot
Awesome amp. Best I've owned. F/X loop seems a little weak though...only criticism from me. Takes a bit to dial in for your sound but once found seems cool. Built like a tank!!
+MESA/Boogie It's a very very good amp, I'm very happy, I play rock, pop and metal with my 2 bands , fantastic sound!!! Great work!!! It was dream for me!!! Forza Mesa Boogie from Italy!!!!!
+MESA/Boogie Hi, I have 1 question. When I try the roadster with my Gibson Emg 81/Emg 85 on the third and fourth channel modern , the high gain is less powerfull than my Musicman Crunch lab/ liquifire. I must add an overdrive more to have a metal sound. Can you explain to me?
What's up with the audio here? It's not a single track. It sounds like 2 tracks with one of the tracks delayed very slightly. I do the same trick on recordings. I like doing it but it's not a 100% accurate presentation of the amp.
I finally picked this up yesterday. I have it on top of 2 4x12 Hughes & Kettner Attax cabs...my 5150 so far sounds better with these cabs. I'm guessing I need to get a Rectifier cabinet huh? I'd hate to have to return it.
Hmmm. It would have been better if they disclosed that there is a 10ms (or so) slapback delay on most of the tone demos. Not expensive or anything but you are not just hearing the amp and guitar. Bad practice Mesa,
+MESA/Boogie That's exactly what I meant!! Thanks for clearing that up! I love my Blue Angel's ability to go between, and combine the 6v6 and the EL series together!
+Josh Wadsworth I would love to own a Blue Angel as well. But alas, I live in a country where it's rare as hen's teeth (requiring 240V, unless I want to use a step down transformer)
I think the newer version Badlander Rectifiers sound better, but every Mesa is capable of certain awesome tones. I have a Mark V now and that amp rocks.
I love my Roadster. Built like a tank! Only needed a tube change after 5yrs! Went to the factory for maintenance and Rich took care of me and even gave me a quick factory tour! Thank you Mesa boogie!
Awesome, +momay69 - So glad the amp is going strong and that we were able to take of you! Keep on rockin'. :)

This is a great amp. I've had my 2x12 Roadster combo for a few years. It's inspiring to play through.
I just got one of these, and it's amazing. The sound quality and versatility is off the charts.
When you did the RAW mode on channel 3 as an alternate clean was it in diode or tube recto? Thank you. Great video best one out there.
Sounds amazing as always! Thank you Randall Smith for designing and buildings such beautiful amps.

Yes indeed. I own a 2008 2x12 Roadster..all 108lbs of it!
One of the guitar players in my band got to borrow one of these for practice last night. AMAZING sound
Very nice demo!! I'm so proud to own this beautiful amp!
I have one and I just love it ! I'll never regret this purchase.
I'm so proud to own this beast. It is so versatile.
The doubling effect, whether accidental or not, renders this demo useless. All we hear is the blurring of the amp sound.
The Tweed Mode in Channel One is awesome. Sounds best if the channel volume is maxed out then control the volume with the Master volume.
John Rinkor is a BEAST!!! whew, great playing
Hi John, can the "Slave"Mode on both the Roadster and Mark V be used a make shift attenuator? Will this damage the amp? Any info would be helpful.
I love this amp. Truly a all-in-one head.
I'm not sure if i should get one of these or if i should wait and collect money for my dream amp Mark V?

don't know if you still need an answer, but you can switch on the FX for each channnel on the back of the amp, so that it stays on all the time
but why would you put the channal selector on the back? I know theres a footswith but still very impractical
The shop I go to has one of these out on display and every time I see it I think, "Damn, it's got more stuff on the back than mine's got on the front"

@guitarsbunch347 There is a difference in tone indeed. The Roadster is a little bit darker sounding overall and the high end is smoother...
hello guys at mesa.... Just bought my roadster and could you please send me the settings of each sound at this video? Presence, bass, treble and treble?? tks a lot
I am stuck between this and one of the new multi watt dual rectifiers. What are the differences in tone and options/features of these two amps?
What are your settings for that awesome tone on channel two? the first one that is
i have one. waited for years and saved it was worth it
Great amp demo!
Flynn Gower's amp! Sounds sick through an Orange 4x12!

Did you get it yet, I have a MINT condition one for sale. Priced to move.
Is it possible to just leave the amp with two 6l6s and just keep it on the 50 watt mode?
@benellidown So ya if you set the roadking to all the roadster options (6l6's and stuff)) and dial in the same settings they'll sound the same right
Nice demo!
Wow! What were the complete settings?? Could you post those?
Such a versatile amp
@gabrielminninurfs how would u compare it to a mark v or triple rectifier
Any chance on getting his EQ/drive settings for this demo, for each channel?
what were the settings on the clean channels? i can't of life of me get a decent clean sound or the volumes of the channels to match each other

Every Channel has an independent reverb?
would be helpful if you could provide the settings for all of the modes that you used
@f2kflyer roadking you can add 2 el34's to the 6L6's
How much does this amp go for?
I'm almost there myself, soon.
Please, can anyone tell me what cabinet is he using? rectifier, roadking, stiletto??
i buy one and love it
thanks mesa
Is this the MKI or MKII?
What the delay I hear in entire clip?
@guitarsbunch347 I heard the Roadster is a tad darker (on the higain drive) than Dual Recto with better cleans too..
Demo recorded inside an MXR Flanger apparently.
What's up with the audio here? It's not a single track. It sounds like 2 tracks with one of the tracks delayed very slightly. I do the same trick on recordings. I like doing it but it's not a 100% accurate presentation of the amp.
so great amp!! i wish you could release roadster II with 150w or 200w! it would be better than better!

I just got this amp. Woot!
@gabrielminninurfs True. More accurately, it's a Road King without the Progressive Linkage.
I love this amp... sounds awesome! (Y)
forgot to mention you can choose to run EL84 tubes if you want......just flick the switch and install them in position.
Hey +Josh Wadsworth - It's actually EL-34 tubes (Not EL84s) but we knew what you probably meant... :). Just making sure, though. thanks for watching!
+MESA/Boogie That's exactly what I meant!! Thanks for clearing that up! I love my Blue Angel's ability to go between, and combine the 6v6 and the EL series together!

To me that demo doesn't sound that good, not enough dynamic. I wonder how you captured the sound ?
